Smear in Titanium with Energy ROM - Touch Pro, Fuze ROM Development

Hi!
My ROM of choice is EnergyROM 'Warhawk' (SYS 23016) ★ | Built Aug 11 | w Manila 2.1! Whenever I try to switch from TF3D to Windows Default (Titanium), it will work for a while but over some short time, the text on the today screen will start to smear and then it affects the START menus as well. If I go back to TF3D, it works just fine. Anyone else experience this?
I have the Fuze:
EnergyROM Warhawk
Radio: 1.14.25.05
Protocol: 52.63.25.34H
I've done hard resets before and after flashing too.
Thanks!

Sounds like you're just getting a bad flash every time. First, I see you've done hard resets, but what about flashing it again? Also, try downloading the ROM again. It might be corrupted. It only takes one bit to be off, and you can see all sorts of spectacular problems.

I've flashed his roms on the day they come out the last 2-3 times. I've always done hard resets before and after it and even went to the radio he suggested. As far as my phone, I don't think there is a thing wrong with it. I may try another cooks' rom but not sure which one to try even just to test it. I kind of like the Titanium but just can't use it.

Here's my recommended procedure:
Back up your PIM data, if needed.
Remove HardSPL.
Run your service provider's ROM installation.
Install HardSPL.
Download the ROM (YES...DO IT AGAIN)
Flash the ROM (AGAIN).
Hard reset when you get to the screen alignment.
Yes, I know I'm yelling, but that's because you don't appear to be paying attention.
It would also be helpful if you'd put your device info in your user signature.

HArd SPL V6 Issues

Hey, first post here. I've tried searching for people with similar issues but I couldn't find anyone. I got my Cingular 8525 yesterday and I am trying to upgrade to WM6. I followed the guide on flashing it to Hard SPL v6, since I have SPL- 1.06 and I can't seem to get past the screen where I have to choose which bootloader version I have. Mine is not listed on there, and it won't even let me choose some of the other options. I can only check "Is this Hard-SPL?" and the "Force Ussing SPL" option. I thought about upgrading to SPL1.04 then to 1.4, but I am not sure as I don't want to brick my phone. Any suggestions? Thanks. Sorry if this has been covered once again, but Ive been looking for about 2 days and can't seem to find it.
Here is part of a guide written by Mrvanx. Following the guide is highly recommended. You should use the sspl option. It will load SSPL by Des which will in turn load Hard SPL V6 to your device. Good luck flashing!
The autodetect button didn't work for you??? You should be able to use the Force option to upgrade to oli's SPL and you should have no problem. If you're unsure, follow this guide: http://www.mrvanx.myzen.co.uk/hermes_guide/HardSPL.html
Also, there's lots of great info here in general: http://www.mrvanx.myzen.co.uk/hermes_guide/
Thank you. The version I was looking at www.mrvanx.myzen.co.uk/hermes_guide/black/HardSPL.html
told me something else. Thanks for your input. I'll flash it right away.

good stuff....what flavour of WM6 and which radio??
Newest Radio 138.00.10.. and of course I had to go with Black 2.0... Just the issue on roaming right now... came across it on here before, so i'll figure it out...
Okay.. well now I that it's all flashed i connected to the internet, but i can't send MMS. I tried putting back the factory settings listed here
https://www.cingular.com/support/setupOTW.do
but Black 2.0 doesn't seem to have a media net button and it won't send any mms.. any suggestions. I think I might have to downgrade back to WM5 get used to it and then possible come back to WM6... thanks.

Forget the settings on cingulars website, they assume you are running a cingular rom.
Search the wiki page and there will be a .cab file to install the settings.
Either that or enter them manually. There are plenty of users running Black 2.0 on cingular

Series of Unfortunate upgrades... - P4000

Great and wonderful gurus...I think I dug myself into it. I was hoping my first post here would one with better news...but alas I am calling on your help.
I own a Telus P4000 (TITA100) and was keen on trying out dcd's new ROM. I did the following in the following order and now I have some unfortunate results.
1. Upgraded bootloader to 2.40 using USB instructions here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanRecentHome
2. Thought 'what the heck' and tried upgrading to bootloader 2.47 using the microSD instructions at the same address.
3. Upgraded the Radio to 3.42.50.
4. A reboot brought me to the Telus screen so I thought I had done something wrong.
5. I reverted back to Radio version 1.40
6. I reverted the bootloader to 2.07 using the instructions here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanStockHome
7. I reflashed the stock Telus ROM.
8. Results are now that I cannot make any outgoing calls or data connections
(automated voice says I need to activate my phone) and my power key does not turn the device back on once it goes into 'hibernate' mode.
I am really hoping someone can help me out. I've been searching for hours to find the original Radio (1.32) and the original bootloader (1.04) so I can put things back to the way they were but I can't find anything.
Any help is well appreciated,
Ry
PS - Update - I tried the other method of reverting back to stock (via USB) and now the bootloader is 1.04 and the Radio is 1.32. BIG Steps in the right direction....
Okay...so most of the issues seem to have been resolved and I'll call Telus to re-activate my phone tomorrow but there is one remaining question:
Did I do anything wrong here and how can I continue on my quest to give this another whirl?
(I debated not posting at all...but I figure my conundrums may help someone else later)

Keep in mind, at least on Verizon, when upgrading your radio from a non-GPS radio to a GPS radio, the phone will require re-authentication. The A-Key will have to be given by your provider. When I called, I basically told them I had to do a hard reset. The tech on the other end said that every time I do a hard reset, I need a new A-key. NOT!(idiot)...

Actually, I've only needed a new A-Key once, and that was when I hard reset my device. However, when I got my phone, I upgraded the stuff before activating.
So yes, hard-resetting does (sometimes/always?) causes you to need a new A-Key.
And even then, I didn't call in; I did the whole online "activate another phone, then reactivate the 6800" trick to avoid dealing with terrible CS

I don't know if this A-key thing is true anymore. On my original phone I had to do an A-Key update twice. And both times was when I upgraded the Radio. After a while I stopped having to do them.
Yesterday I got a replacement 6800 (old one had bad charging port). I activated it got it working, and immediately put on SPL 2.47, radio 3.5.42 and DCD 3.2.5 (in that order)
I DID NOT have to call verizon for an A-key update.

Also take a look at some P4000 instructions I posted here.
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1413430&page=1&pp=15
I have never had a problem flashing my P4000 except for when I used a Sprint ROM to get an updated radio and let the customizations run. This made it so that I could not send text messages but everything else worked fine.
Here's how I fixed it:
- used the relocker to relock the phone and restore the original bootloader
- flash with stock Telus ROM
- change to 2.40 bootloader
- flash radio (didn't use the Sprint ROM this time, used SD card method instead)
- flash DCD ROM
- run Telus carrier cab
Since then I have updated to 2.47 bootloader, updated to DCD3.2.5, went to a lower version of the radio because I was having signal issues, and then just recently went to the latest radio version. I haven't had any problems other than that one I just mentioned above.
Even when you flash with DCD's ROMs the Telus splash screen will still come up as this is not overwritten by the ROM. This will only change if you use a flasher to change it or flash with another carrier's ROM (like Sprint for example).
Without a major scew-up, you should not have had to activate your phone on Telus after unlocking and a ROM update. I've never such an issue nor anyone else I know.
1. Upgraded bootloader to 2.40 using USB instructions here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...itanRecentHome
6. I reverted the bootloader to 2.07 using the instructions here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...TitanStockHome

Inescabl, in all of those steps you failed to say when and where you upgraded to a third party ROM.... Within the first two I already see a point of concern where you stated you unlocked to 2.40 and then your next step being, ''what the heck' and tried upgrading to bootloader 2.47 using the microSD instructions. How did you get into the OS? Were you still on the stock radio and ROM?? You then stated that you flashed to the latest radio, but of course a reboot would only bring you to be stuck on the Telus screen if you'd not bothered to also flash to an appropriate ROM.
From what you've described, you decided to go a bit your own way, and did not pay close enough attention to the stated steps and problem solving that I wrote in the Wiki.
I'm glad that it all worked out for you, but this should be a warning to others to not rush into things without first being clear upon what the Wiki's guides and troubleshooting offer.
Keystone,
Correct. I should have used the phrase 'reprogram' by dialing *22803 for Telus users after you reflash your phone. 'Re-activate' was the wrong term.
Second, you are also correct in that my steps failed to say that I upgraded to a third party ROM and that was what I missed. On my second attempt I did upgrade to the third party ROM and all systems are now 'go'.
Third, when I said 'what the heck' I meant that since I had successfully upgraded the bootloader to 2.40 using USB I thought I'd try upgrading to 2.47 using the MicroSD method. You don't need to go into the OS to do that but merely need to get back into the bootloader screen by pressing POWER-CAMERA-SOFT RESET.
The difficulty I had resulted from the fact that the wiki is not clear that in order to install the latest ROM you need to be connected to the phone via USB and on the bootloader screen on your phone. This is where I was slightly confused and didn't understand where to go next. Perhaps you could update your instructions a little? It's funny how one person can read something and think one thing and another can read it and not see what you were thinking!
One final note. With respect to these statement: "You then stated that you flashed to the latest radio, but of course a reboot would only bring you to be stuck on the Telus screen if you'd not bothered to also flash to an appropriate ROM.From what you've described, you decided to go a bit your own way, and did not pay close enough attention to the stated steps and problem solving that I wrote in the Wiki.I'm glad that it all worked out for you, but this should be a warning to others to not rush into things without first being clear upon what the Wiki's guides and troubleshooting offer.
Though I appreciate your response I didn't really care for this final note where you took the opportunity to jab at my personal character. I did take the time and did pay attention and did not 'go my own way'. There was just that one step that I mentioned that was confusing. My post was not a personal affront to your wiki and I do appreciate it as do many others. Instead this is perhaps an opportunity to make your wiki even better!
Thanks,
Ry

I was not sure what you had presented in the OP and was trying to clarify what had occurred to cause your problems. In many such threads newer people will read and get confused, and that is why I prefer to get to the bottom and then use that information to help prevent such mishaps occurring again. As what I concluded was apparently spot on, then, dude, politely recognising what was - was certainly no comment in-any-shape-nor form upon your character. Smile.
The Wiki instructions are attempting to cover nearly all of the bases to best serve the most people and likely problems. There is no single way to flash and there are numerous roadblocks that may occur. Having a simple and linear guide may be nice, but I strongly feel that it leads to rushed and relatively uninformed short-cuts where one error or another problem can leave one stuck and confused.
Keystone,
Glad to know it was just a misunderstanding. And to clarify, at no time have I disrespected you or the other fine members of this forum who use their spare time to have some fun with their hobby.
Also for the record, you did not conclude spot on unfortunately as it was not my rushing through the instructions that caused the issue but rather the fact that there is a certain amount of extrapolation required from your instructions to get everything working correctly.
Thanks again for all your help as I do appreciate it.
You're, welcome.

Just flashed to EnergyROM, phone stuck starting up?

Hey guys, I just followed to flashing guide for my touch pro, and installed EnergyROM on to it. The HSPL and flash and everything seemed to go fine, but now im on
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508084
Step 3
4. Once the phone reboots, go through Windows Mobile setup and let it finish.
My phone has been sitting at "PLease wait, phone starting up" for like 8 minutes.
This doesn't seem normal. . .should i be concerned?
Is your TouchPro CDMA or GSM? Sounds like you got the ROM to boot. Might just be taking a while. If it takes longer than 15 minutes, then reset the bugger. If something is indeed hosed with the ROM and it won't boot, just hold Volume Down and Power while hitting the reset button on the bottom, and you'll be back at the bootloader.

Alright, ill wait it out and give the reset a try if nothing happens. thanks
Curiously, if i end up being back at the bootloader, where should i procede?
actually i did the same installed a new rom and now it is stuck in start up , where it shows (touch Pro) stays lite for about a min or so then the whole phone reset. it seem to take the whole rom , because it said congrads installation is complete. now i cant do anything , like even install a different rom. i am wondering if i need to install a rom now via mini sd , or is there a master reset? and how am i going to install rom via mini sd

Like Cyfun said, hold Vol-Down/Power and Soft reset into bootloader. Plug the phone into USB and at the bottom serial should change to USB. Then flash away.
Otherwise, take a SD-micro and put your .nbh in the root folder, and rename it to RAPHIMG.nbh and reset into bootloader
holy crap that was fast, thanks , i am going to try it now
actually that worked, awesome!!!! i use to have a rom that was mighty rom (reborn) does anyone have the link for it , it seem to work the best on my phone!!
Sorry, never been a big fan of Mighty ROM. If you want something really Fast and Stable, I suggest Calkulins ROMs. Here is a link to the most recent release.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/tzmgjytkzm3/Calkulin's Touch Pro 23506 ROM v4.2.7z
I personally use NRG roms (due to them being updated so frequently). These however tend to be slightly buggy, and need many mods to suite individual needs.
Well once in bootloader mode i was able to get NFSFAN's rom installed with absolutely no issues.
So what did I do? Redownload a different version of energy rom and try it again. No luck there, the same thing happened. I think maybe energy rom just hates my phone. So I reflashed with NFSFAN's rom and i might just leave it with this. I dunno how much of a difference a noob flasher like myself will see between the two.

why? the verizon touch pro is seriously gimped..MOST roms will barely run on them. the guys cook the roms according to how they like them, and likely theyre not on verizon if its not working. just flash a bunch of different roms till you find one that works, and i also have read that most verion touch pros seem to run better with pagepool at 6 so i suggest you try that..good luck with it, but remember that the guys that cook these dont owe any explanation if the dont want to. were getting state of the art roms (built for new phones) on our out-of-date touch pros for free.

flash

Before I flash my phone for the very first time, I need to know some things.
I know there are threads who give info, but they aren't always up-to-date or handeling about my phone.
So I want to know, I heard about a third version of HSPL.
What are the things that I need to do?
If I want to install a new rom, I first install HSPL, then the rom, but do I have to install something like a radio too? or something else?
Will a custom rom always work in my language (BE/DUTCH),
and which rom is good for texting (no lag etc).
I want a clean and smooth rom, with not much BS. Any advice?
I know it's a lot of questions, but I'm stuck with them for a long long time and I want to be well prepared.
Version of OS: 5.2.21869
Manila: 2.5.19211619.0
ROM: 1.66.404.1 (76641) NLD
RADIO: 2.06.51.07
Follow this thread step by step and you cant go wrong.
Its link you to HSPL3 and anything else you might need.
It tells you how to flash a radio (if you need to).....
It will tell you which radio you need in the thread for the rom your going to use....
You just have to read through all the rom threads to find out which one is going to be best for you...... I'd reccomend energy roms... I think they might only be available in english though. Different languages available will be listed in the rom thread...
The flash only takes 10 minutes...its the reading up first thats the time consuming part....
Hope it all goes well for you
thanks for the advice, I will follow it and read everything 10 times before flashing anything

So here are the steps that I'm about to take: (first off I saved all my data, sms, etc elsewhere).
1) flash HSPL 3

thread HSPL3 said:
Seems all ROMs based on 1.42, 1.66, 1.XX can work with 2.08 SPL without problems.*

My ROM is 1.66.404.1 (76641) NLD, so it seems that this is okay to do. I think I have the 'usualleo', can I check this somewhere?
When I look into RAM SIZE, it says 512 MB, and I don't know what telstra is, but I definitly won't need the last one (1024). I also think in HSPL itself, I need to choose 2.08.HSPL.
Next, I'm about to flash my first custom rom, and will follow the steps given here:
Flashing Via ActiveSync
1. Download your prefered Rom from the LEO Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your computer
2. REMOVE SIM and microSD CARDS!! (this is a precautionary measure and is not compulsory)
3. Turn phone back on and wait until it syncs with your PC
4a. If your Rom is a .exe (customRUU.exe is already included in the Rom file) then run the file
4b. If your Rom is a .nbh file then run the CustomRUU.exe from the Roms Folder (if one isnt included then download it *HERE*)
5. Follow onscreen instructions to set up your New Rom
6. Once phone has gone through the customisation procedure then replace Sim and microSD Cards
7. Perform a Hard Reset to clear any leftover data from your previous Rom (see intructions at bottom).
8. Set up phone as required and job done.

I really can't find what ROM I should use..
I want a rom with landscape built in and the sms client 2016.
Are there much roms which include this?
yea thats all OK, except you dont really need to remove sim and sd. Only if you're stroubleshooting.
Plus, most cooked roms support 'autoinstall', , , create a folder on your sd card called autoinstall, put in there any cabs that are essentials, and the rom will install them as part of the post flash setup process.
as to which rom for what, thats gotta be down to you. Theyre all good, theres no such thing as a best rom, and what works brilliantly for one person makes the next person weep with frustration.
Flashing only takes 5/10 mins, you can try out a dozen roms in an evening.
Dont forget you only need apply hspl once. It will stay there till you either flash a stock from sd card (dont do this, theres no need nowadays) or you can run hspl2 (yes, hspl2) and choose your stock spl (1.42.0000 or 1.66.0000 or whatever)
can I run HSPL 2 after I firstly installed HSPL 3 for the custom rom I'm about to choose? And I'm guessing roms come packed (7z/zip/rar), need to unpack those files I guess? How do you actually start cooking a rom?
edit: I also gonna remove everything (hard reset) before I start flashing anything, so I start clean
Okay this is coming really close now:

Download Artemis 23.0 level A NLD (this I'm about to use)
I'm gonna go with artemis, but I also want a higher radio version. should I update my radio or my rom first? And how do I know which radio is compactible with that rom? the ones adviced in the rom? http://www.pilotlogic.com/artemis/htc_hd2_radio/ these?
I'm a bit confused what steps to take, in which order.
I know I have to HSPL first, (gonna use HSPL 3)
but then I doubt which to do first, rom or radio. And is it easy to install? Can I make any mistakes on this? what are the things that need special attention? thanks in advance guys, for all the help!
doesn't matter which order, except if you do rom first your phone will hang till you enter bootloader and flash a matching radio so most people say radio first.
heres how i'd do it
1 hspl3 (only needs doing once, not every time you flash)
2 enter bootloader manually
3 flash the radio
4 when it gets to 100% and is about to reboot, hold down voldown to go back into bootloader
5 flash the rom
6 allow phone to boot properly

SUPERB!! Thank you for the clear advice! Will try this step by step tonight. Thanks samsamuel I really like xda everybody is helping out :d
I used the video guides the first time..........
Id have freaked out about the radio hanging at 96% if I hadnt already seen that on the video.
Watch each step before you do it, that way you know what to expect.....
Happy flashing.........

Maybe anyone knows? if not I might ask it in the Artemis thread
think I'm good to go then, well prepared, thanks to you guys
update, just installed HSPL going slowly to the next step
damn guys? I'm really DOUBTING, should I flash a rom or a radio first?
I'm scared if I flash my rom first my cell won't startup because of incompactibility with my phone's rom? Or reversed ways. Can anyone advise me before I start?
Edit: took a leap of faith and trusted on the posts above, and I'm now running a new radio now only my rom and I'm done. Gonna see the video's and tuts first. I'll keep you updated. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW this radio is GREAT! my sound quality has improved like A LOT! very strange, with my original rom, I always heard noises, now it's way clearer when I call

im about to flash a cooked rom for the first time. i just dont want to miss something, so i read a lot of forums regarding flashing (i know if i ask some will just answer search...search..) and i know the instructions now. just want to confirm something about flashing new cooked roms and radios about their order.... im a bit confused... let me lay out, pls correct me if im wrong here so before i flash i can correct my self
(just the order, mem card formatted to fat32)
1.hspl
2.task29
3.rom
4.radio
5.hard reset
is this the right order?
just want to ask in what order i should i do about custom splash screen? ty for those who will help me..
Sounds good, but I would do:
1.hspl v3
2.task29 (I remember seeing a tool which flashes the ROM and does Task29 automaticly, somewhere here on the board)
3.ROM
4.hard reset!! better 2x
5.radio
Good luck

Oh crap! I have flashed like 5 ROMs and never ever dona a hard-reset after flashing. But they worked, so...
Oh and you put the radio No5, while actually you should have the proper radio for the ROM before you flash the ROM. So it's more like:
1. HSPL v3 (2.08)
2. Radio
3. Task 29
4. ROM
5. Hard reset
Right?
Right?

In the past I also flashed ROMs without a hard reset but after some flashes I noticed some bugs which were not existing anymore after performing a Task29. Its also recommended by nearly every chef here on the board.
Some custom ROMS (very rare) include a RADIO which is sometimes not THAT RADIO what you want. So I prefer flashing it afterwards.
I think you can start flashing now Good luck and remember use the search button
