hey guys,
my touchscreen stopped working.
i wonder if there is a way to control my nike by keypad (which still works) as a workaround until i fixed the problem (e.g. send a test message by using the keypad). may be there is a way to use the two buttons at the lower left and right side of the oucscreen by keypad ...
hope any of you got an idea as this is my only handset.

im trying to find out if this problem is software or hardware related. it seems the issue only appeared at wm6.1 and wm6.5.. it works fine in android, and works fine when you hold your finger on the screen while you slide the phone open.
does anyone else have this problem with wm6.1/6.5?
No problems using the touch screen with my Touch Dual, 20 key, with the slider open or closed.
weird
maybe it is hardware then
I have got the problem that sensors turn out my screen after calls start (incoming/outgoing) and it does not activate again when I want to end the call.
I have realized that after a call is started and the phone is moved (e.g. after typing a number, dialling and then move the phone to your ear) that this (or actually any movement) locks the screen.
I have realized that the movement actually activates the 'dial pad' (just as you would press the icon on the screen during a call) but somehow also fully de-activates the screen. You can get the screen activated again only by sliding the hardware keypad out. Then you can press 'x' on the screen to get back to the normal call screen (and then end the call normally).
I have got the 2nd SK17 now and it has got the same issue regardless which firmware I use (branded 4.0.A.2.335 from vodafone, 4.0.A.2.335 Generic or 4.0.2.A.0.58 Generic).
Anyone else got this issue and has got a solution.
Same here. its because of the light sensors.

heres a guide to turn it off
Thanks for the quick response. Much appreciated.
However, I am afraid this does not resolve the issue. When applying as described in the guide the screen is de-activated straight after answering a call (without moving the device) and even when sliding the hardware keyboard out and pressing 'x' on the screen (to return to normal call screen) and then close the hardware keyboard again the screen is de-activated straight.
Ending calls now is only possible when the hardware keyboard is slided out.
Before applying as described in the guide at least the screen returned to be active after sliding keypad out, pressing 'x' and sliding keypad back in (and then not moving the device).
Therefore I have reverted back to what is was before for the time being.
Any other thoughts, hints, help.

UPDATE 2011/11/27:
I have got my SK17 exchanged again (got the 3rd one now) and on this one it does not occur respectively call screen and sensors work perfect. Finally SE or vodafone seem to fix it on newly produced devices.
I have a galaxy s2 running ICS (but the issue occurred) and I have a very odd issue with the keyboard that I am hoping someone could help me with. I have searched around but did not find anything already posted.
A short while ago, my screen broke and I had it replaced, good as new. Well almost. When ever I use the messaging app, or another type of app like that (Whats App for example), when you are composing a new message, and the textbox is shrunk down to one line at the bottom of the screen, there appears to be no input detected on that part of the screen, the send button (on the right hand side) works, and the other controls all work fine, just not the textbox.
So I figured that when the screen broke, it messed up that part of the screen, but other apps that have controls in that region (such as the camera app that has the photo button, or the lock screen with the emergency call button) all work 100%.
Its just textboxes at the bottom of the screen that do not seem to accept touch events. VERY odd.
Has anyone seen this before or know of a few tests/checks I can do. I am a new-ish user to Android.

This really sounds anoying but i know several issues quiet close to yours.
For instance sometimes on my sgs+ one side of the screen....in many cases the top side does not recognize any touching by me...
after loocking and afterwards aunlocking the phone everythings allright again...
i would suggest you to try to install a thirdparty keyboard from the play store.
if this doenstn work.....well maybee try another rom but i would send it to samsung to get a new phone...cus errors caused by wrong placed hardware are always comming back
fare well my friend
Hi! I've bought a s 3 mini in Malaysia for my mother, and after 10 days she uses it, the bottom part of touch screen doesn't work anymore.
The bottom part (last icon line) and menu key and back key don't work anymore. The phone is not falling down, neither goes in contact with weather... It's very strange. it has happened after a simple call.
do you think is it an hardware problem? or is it possibile to fix via software?
thanks in advance.
I recently managed to break the screen on my Honor 7 so that it affects the touch functionality, and i am now left with some ghosting on the bottom part of the screen.
Was wondering if there was a way to disable the touch screen on my phone, but still be able to send touch commands through USB, hopefully without removing the screen.
(The ghosting is bad, but i can still pick up calls, which is why i do not want to remove the screen)
Thanks
its really tough,, what you are asking.. you can still connect a mouse, but touch is the formfactor of any android phone, if you want , you can connect a mouse via otg ,
but i highly suggest you to change your touch panel or display...
Same problem ..Tip!
I have the same ghostly problem..and I want to disable the touch input without disabling the external keyboard or mouse control. ...I tried touch lock app..but it also disables the external mouse control. .May be if the Touch Lock app modding will be a great solution for both of us
