i bought a jasjam (hermes) from ebay but the device it not works. the os isn't in it. I tried to hard reset, soft reset and i try to update MDF, SPL etc. MDF is 1.01 SPF is 1.00. I cant install any os to my device. It's always giving to me an Error about connection problems. i try to use mtty and i see no bad blocks. whats the problem? and how do i use my device?

If you are REALLY lucky it may have Hard SPL on it. Try this...
SD card Must be 2Gb or less.
1 Format SD card FAT32. Copy .nbh file of ROM to it.
2 Rename .nbh file hermimg.nbh then put in Jasjam. Reboot to bootloader.
3 If its going to work and you have done EVERYTHING right, follow onscreen instructions.

Please help me, as its very urgent. I have been upgrading to various ROM's every now and then. Recently I did a blunder, as While upgrading with One of the ROM (Black Majik) i selected SPL 2.10 instead of Force SSPL and while upgrading USB Connection get lost.
Now I am only getting the Splash Screen showing HTC, when i Hard Reset my phone I do not get IPL and SPL version displayed and it takes my to the Splash Screen again.
Please help me in finding a way i can recover my phone.

Try a hard reset...
If that doesn't work and you have Hard SPL on your phone upgrade using the sd card method.
As for your IPL and SPL, what do you see when you go to bootloader? That shows your IPL & SPL. To get to bootloader press power, OK button next to flywheel and soft reset with stylus. Hold all three buttons until you get to tri-colour screen. That will tell you what IPL & Spl you have.

Thanx for help. I could get my IPL and SPL info. But still i am not been able to get any rom installed on my device as it get stuck on that tri-color screen and rom up gradation wizards comes with different rom looks for activesync connection with the device. I am not been able to boot my device so that i can upgrade it to specific rom. Is there any way i can install a ROM without having active sync connection with the device...

IF you have flashed Hard SPL on your phone you have a good Chance...
If you haven't and its under warranty you might be able to get them to fix for you.
Assuming you have Hard SPLed your phone, try the sd card method - format up to 2gb sd card fat32. copy the .nbh file from the rom upgrade to the sd card.Rename the .nbh file to "hermimg.nbh". Reset phone. As you keep going into bootloader you wont have to manually do that. It should recognize the os flash and prompt you to hit the power button to proceed...
PLEASE NOTE - THIS WILL ONLY WORK IF YOUR SPL IS 2.10 OLIPRO...
Hope you upgraded your SPL cos you will only have a paper weight otherwise..

and found that the solution from the given Table after answering the all the questions,so the solution is (1.) Flash Hard-SPL (2.)Flash any radio in NBH format.Do both steps using SSPL+ActiveSync.
i could succesfully Flash the Hard-SPL.Now i put the Phone is bootlaoder mode i can see that the HERM100 IPL-1.04 and HERM100 SPL-2.10.Olipro.
But when i am performing the second step that is "Flash any radio in NBH format.Do both steps using SSPL+ActiveSync" (i downloaded the Hermes_Radio_1.50.00.00_108) from the support and trying to upgrade the radio but it always starts and stuck at updating 0% and not moving further and an error message popping up saying error 260 and 262.I read the read me and followed all the instructions but all the time i am getting the same error.
So please guide me what to do?

If you had of read you might have found this is a problem with VERY low probability of you fixing it....
So saying, try the sd card method, You have Hard SPL on the phone, do this....
1. Format an sd card fat32 and copy RUU_signed.nbh on it. Rename to hermimg.nbh.
2. Insert sd card and put Hermes into bootloader - Hold down power, OK button above flywheel and then use stylus to reset... Hold all three in until you get to the tri-colour screen A.K.A bootloader.
3. It should recognise the herm flash file so follow the prompts...
If the Radio only rom doesn't work you can try a stock rom... Best if you try the carrier rom it was initially.
If that doesn't work, at least you have a nice PDA.....

First of all thanks for the reply.
I am using Carrier NBH and following your instructions and now it is updating the image lets see,it has just started.i willl update here with results.
i Can see on screen the following details.

OOps it stopped at some percentage say between 10 to 15.And it didn't move further for more than 30 minutes.
I removed and trying to flash via pc but it is hanged at 14% now for a very long time.what could be the problem.Could this be hardware or i am making misake somewhere.

I have something like this now
I tried flashing CRC13 via USB
at about 92% it failed. It attempted to recover and failed again.
I used a 1gb lexar MicroSD, copied the CRC rom's RUU_Signed.nbh to the card as HERMIMG.nbh
reset holding Power and OK buttons.
It flashed 000680002 and went back to the tricolor screen

If I let it attempt to boot normally, the CRC splash screen comes up, then brightens for a second, then goes blank. The charge indicator will respond to power, and the USB will make the PC "bu-bumb" but AS will not connect, explorer will not see it, and RUU_Wrapper will not detect it
Thank god... I DL'ed a factory OS, extracted it and ran the RUU_Wrapper and that did install
then installed CRC13 naked

Radimus, HARD SPL YOUR PHONE.... You were EXTREMELY lucky... If you are thinking about reflashing your phone you need Hard SPL ver 7 installed... It won't guarantee you won't brick your phone but will offer a safety net so you may be able to fix it.

Yep, thats actually my preferred method of flashing. Check out post 1160 on page 116 of this thread for instructions - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
You can also flash Os'es with the sd card method. Once you've Hard SPLed your Hermes you won't need to use sspl.exe but make sure your battery is more than 50%.
I personally wouldn't flash the radio rom from the pc as there are too many things that can go wrong. SD card all the way...

My Htc hermes phone keep turning off and on after i upgraded it to rom 3.54.07.06. that i downloaded from a thread on this site. I did the Power+OK+softrest and got the 3 color screen its shows IPL 1.01 and SPL 1.40 Oilpro . and connected to my computer but my computer isnt snycing withmy phone or anything plz help me T~T

Though I'd try to upgrade the SPL(1.40) to Hard SPL V7 (2.10) first.
Try connecting the Hermes to the pc after 1st making sure to untick "Allow USB connections" in activesync, put the Hermes in bootloader and run the RUU_Wrapper.exe for Hard SPL V7. After this you should be able to use the sd card method to flash your Hermes with any rom. You used an early Hard SPL that is unsafe to try sd card flashing with... Live and learn...

If you are using the unaltered ROM, the radio part may take awhile to flash - DON'T RESET... This may cause irrecoverable errors in the radio rom causing you to have a permanent brick...

This may not work, that means you're looking at a permanent brick. You may be able to flash an OS only rom on but you won't be able to use the phone anymore.
When i tried to install any firmware the progress stop at 11% and the Hermes only turn on in bootmode, any idea??

I had that problem and few more with my Hermes.
While it didn't help me, this suggestion by ultramag69 may help you...
Use the sd card method to flash a new rom, instead of a USB cable/Windows computer.
1. Format a 2Gb or less sd card to FAT32, copy the large 50MB-90MB .nbh file onto it and rename to hermimg.nbh
2. Insert the card into your Hermes and reset to bootloader (hold OK & POWER and push RESET for a sec with the stylus)
3. If you haven't stuffed up the other steps, follow the prompts.

Just one other thing summoner, make sure you have Hard SPL V7 installed. Otherwise the ONLY rom I'd try flashing like that is the SHIPPED STOCK ROM. Its so the CID will be recognised and won't cause a brick.
rmorera84, unless you've installed Hard SPL V7 then find the SHIPPED STOCK ROM and flash that, anything else may permanently brick your Hermes.
If you have Hard SPL V7 (IPL 1.04, SPL 2.10 oli) then flash what you like...

I suppose I should upgrading the radio rom now!?
I am told don't try fixing what isn't broken - and it is working. 3G iNet, Phone, WiFi, BT - all good atm.
Or is there a particular update I should still install?

SUMM0NER, you're using an older, not so safe version of Hard SPL. The Hermes is downgraded to SPL 1.40 when you sim/CID unlock your phone. Best idea would be to re-install Hard SPL V7. Its a later version that seems less prone to problems when flashing.
Go back to the Hard SPL thread and get Hard SPL V7. I had the same thing happen to me when I unlocked the Hermes, nearly cost me my handset.
The steps are unlock Hermes, Install Hard SPL then upgrade OS.

SUMM0NER, no. You have loaded the os, the reason you put Hard SPL V7 is if you want to upgrade the radio rom (not a good idea unless you are experiencing problems) or wish to change the os. Just means recovery is easier than if you didn't have it.

Can I assume your Hermes is working right now?
If it is download and install HardSPL V.7 (attached to the bottom of the first post!)
Ones done verify that it installed correctly by holding the OK & Power button and pushing reset for a sec. The screen should display the coloured bars and say towards the centre: SPL-2.10.Olipro

You didn't confirm if it is working right now!?
If it is not working, try one of the official WM5 Cingular roms from this list. If that worked apply HardSPL 7 and take it from there.
Ones you downloaded the Cingular rom update you will have to keep unpacking the .exe files until you come to the actual .NBH file (WinRAR works for me).
Then follow ultramag69's instructions on flashing the rom via memory card.

Try downgrading to the Cingular rom via USB. Just double click the EXE and follow the instructions.
To use the memory card method follow these steps...
0. unpack the .exe file containing the rom with Winrar (right-click exe then choose "Extract to...\")
1. Format a 2Gb or less sd card to FAT32, copy the large 50MB-90MB .nbh file onto it and rename to hermimg.nbh

The reason to use the memory card to upgrade a rom, rather than a usb cable, is to cut down on failed upgrades (dodgy Windows/usb port/usb cable/etc..).
All working? Try upgrading to a Hermes rom that didn't work previously.
Any rom you can find in the Hermes section. Go to the WM06 part of the forum, theres a sticky at the top with about 50 older roms and you'll find other roms there too (latest is wm6.5).

i install the official WM5 AT-T version the WM6 AT-T, but, i still whit the no-gsm problem, can i flash i radio? or what i can do??
You may not be able to fix this, if you know what the original SHIPPED STOCK ROM was and can find it, then flash that. It may not work, if it gets stuck at 11% - 17% mark it means the radio ROM is stuffed and the memory area is corrupted. Not fixable.
You could also try, if you know what it is, the original radio rom by itself. Again, if you can't get it to work, you have a PDA but won't work as a phone ever again. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Im to having the same problem, it keeps going back to the 2.1.Olipro boot loader.
I tried the memory card option and it starts to install but then stops.

I'm having the hardest time getting HardSPL on my Cingular 8525. I have linux so I REALLY don't want to have to use Windows to get this working. It's a huge hassle to get the phone working under VMWare. I've already tried that.
I'm trying to get it to load via SD but I'm having no luck.
Anybody know how to get HardSPL installed without a computer? Just an SD card?

Hmmm...I tried that but let me try it again just to make sure I was doing it correctly. I might have misspelled the file name now that I think about it.
Ok, just tried it again and this time when the "Loading" screen came up, it stayed up a bit longer and flashed some red numbers across the top of the screen before finally going to the bootloader screen with the color bars. It says:
HERM100
IPL-1.01
HERM100
SPL-1.06
Serial
And that's it. I'm leaving it a bit to see if it does anything else before I reset it.
Update: Never did anything after about 10-15 minutes. Did a soft reset and then brought up the bootloader to see if I had a new SPL but the screen just displayed what it was showing before.
Edit: Is there anything I need to do with the phone before it will let me flash HardSPL to it?
Alright, nevermind. I'm pretty dumb sometimes.
I just tried SSPL and it worked perfectly. I now have SPL-2.10.Olipro on my Hermes. Off to install WM6 now!
Alright, so I went to go install the latest version of the ROM as provided by AT&T using the sd flash method. I extracted the nbh file and renamed it. Strangely, it was much smaller than I expected it to be.
I rebooted into the bootloader and it came up and asked if I wanted to upgrade. I of course said yes. Then, it took only a few seconds to fill the progress bar and said it was done. I was expecting it to take at least 5 minutes to flash it. It also didn't reset on its own to I did a soft reset (should I have done a hard reset?) and it came back up into WM5 with all my data.
Is there something I missed? the nbh file was only about 250k. Should I have done a hard reset instead? How exactly does this work? Is the ROM portion of the memory just the part that it restores factory settings from and so when you do a hard reset, it then installs the new ROM to the phone?
You probably still have Hard SPL file on sd card. Rom should be anywhere from 30 Mb to 80 Mb. Recopy the .nbh file across. You still need to rename the .nbh file to hermimg.nbh or it won't recognise the rom flash. Don't use the steps using SSPL.exe (Soft SPL) you used for Hard SPL as you now have Hard SPL installed and don't need SSPL.exe.
