please, do I have this right? - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

Hi, a general xv6800 workflow question
I'm wanting to upgrade my verizon xv6800 to wm6.5 with manila. I plan on using: leo.rs.wm65.wwe and radio 4.49.25.17.
I have mr2 (3.57.605.2 and rad 3.37.748 , spc 2.07
I just want confirmation that I have this right: usb connect
1. run hard-spl-mfg.exe , put the phone in bootleg mode with pwr.cam.reset
2. run the customruu with the radio file, put the phone in bootleg mode again
3. run the customruu with the rom file. allow spontaneous reboot..
4. run *228 to program
Is that it? do I need to run "verizon carrier 20081030.cab" too?
thanks

The current radio you have now is ok, but you need to upgrade your bootloader first, so that is correct. Unlocked bootloader (olipro 2.40). You can't just use a ROM/radio from the LEO. You need one for the Titan. More than likely, you will have to install Manila from cabs. Whitealien has posted those in the Dev/Hacking subforum. Do a search, I'm sure someone has a step-by-step going from MR2 back to a custom ROM. And unless you use a specific Verizon ROM, yes, you will need to run the carrier cab.

Dude that rom is not for your phone. If you flash it you will brick your phone.

nooB question

I'm new here and sorry for the nooB-ish question, but I'm going to be picking up an 8525 in the next week or so, and have been reading the wiki, and many posts like a madman...
I'm intending to flash a WM06 to it when I get it (LVSW's Pro 06 most likely) and I just want to be sure I understand the procedure. I have been reading the wiki (for the past couple days) and finally have read myself into a corner, so thought I'd ask.
It is likely I'm going to get the phone from ebay or something, so I'm not too concerned about the carrier's warranty. Besides, any time I tried to warranty a phone through Cingular in the past has been a headache.
That said, the steps I think I need to take are as follows:
1) us pof's v3 SIM and CID unlocker. I plan on unlocking both SIM and CID. Currently I am on Cingular, but I'd like to do this step in case I'm not on Cingular, or end up travelling and go with a pay as you go type of plan while abroad. And the CID, well I know I'll be going to a non Cingular branded ROM.
2) (not sure about this part)- load hard SPL onto the phone... but if I'm CID unlocking it, do I still need to do this?
3) run the RUU and upgrade to the LVSW (WM6 Style) Custom ROM, with the 1.34 radio, 1.10Oli SPL, and HTC Boot 0108
4) do it again, but with the LVSW (Pro Style) 15/3/07, which will give me the OS only, in the Pro Style look I'm after
5) flash it to the newer 1.38 radio sans GPS
Two or three days ago, I wouldn't have even half understood what I just wrote. I'm hoping I got it... where I am having issues is with the myriad different "use this method to flash your phone and not brick it" things in the wiki. I'm not by any means new to phone flashing, but with like 8-9 phones in the last couple years, all of which I modded in some way or another, this is my first foray outside Motorola.
So, did I get it? Or am I well on the way to owning a neat doorstop?
Thanks for any constructive input you all might have.
Sounds fine to me. But, you don't need the SuperCID to flash non-cingular as long as you're using the custom RUU's and SSPL.
Definately flash hard-spl, (although, that is the same as 1.10.Oli), I'd still probably flash it before anything else just to make sure.
Also, I'd probably check out Oli's "Mount ExtRom without SuperCID" thread if you still want access to the extrom.. Basically, if you use this and skip pof's unlocker, you'll still have Cingular CID, but, all the benefits of SuperCID.
Only use pof's unlocker if you want the sim unlock.. WHICH Cingular will give to you by calling customer service and requesting it after telling them you are traveling to Europe, etc..
Up to you though...
If you're going to use pof's unlock etc and Hard SPL why flash the custom rom before the pro style one. Can't you just go straight to the second rom?
@LegolasTheElf- thanks! I'll look into those options.
@randomelements- yep, I could. I didn't realize that the Oli SPL was pushing Hard SPL to the phone... And, with upgrading the radio, I guess it really doesn't matter.... I was going to go with that LVSW custom rom for the upgraded radio... it made it on the list of things to do on Sat. Then, Sunday I was reading the 1.38 (Hermes) radio upgrade thread, and decided to throw that on the list too.
I'm going to change my mind.. Here's the process:
1. Pof's unlocker (if you want)
2. Install Oli's Hard-SPL
3. Install 1.38.00.10 radio
4. Install OS *only* LVSW pro
5. Install Oli's Mount ExtRom without supercid if you didn't already unlock with pof's unlocker.
That will mean only one radio flash (radio being the leading cause of bricks), a good chance of fixing it (Oli's BL), and the OS you want. ExtRom is ignored as the WM6 roms don't use it anyways...
I concur.

Hey, great, thanks!
For some reason I didn't pick up on the Radio flash being the cause of the bricks... I just thought it was with the RUU and CID interferance.

That's only half the cause. The other half is boneheads and ****wits (to use a coined term on here.. Thanks Oli!) that can't/don't read before they charge forward and install crap without any idea of what the hell they're doing.
[email protected] ****wits, I'll have to use that one.
Thanks again.

[April 22, 2008] Alltel 3.35.671.9 for Titan - enables GPS

This the Alltel 3.35.671.9 ROM with GPS enabled (it is not enabled in the OEM ROM). Enabling GPS is the only difference this will make to your phone. This is OS-only so you will need to flash the OEM ROM first.
Download GPS-enabled Alltel ROM
1. Flash the original Alltel 3.35.671.9 ROM.
2. Connect to PC and copy TITAIMG.nbh from my ROM to a MicroSD and remove it from the phone. Or alternatively, use WinRAR to extract all the files from the original .exe file from step 1 and replace RUU_Signed.nbh with my TITAIMG.nbh file.
3. Install Hard-SPL 2.40 from Olipro Link
6. Reinsert MicroSD and hit RESET. TITAIMG.nbh will install. If it does not, hold POWER+CAMERA while pressing RESET, you will briefly see the tri-colored bootloader screen and it should load the ROM. Or if you extracted the RUU from the original .exe file, just run RomUpdateUtility.exe.

Someone on PPCGeeks requested an Alltel version of the GPS ROM with all the original apps (Office Mobile specifically) intact so here's my contribution. I figured I'd go ahead and post here since PPCGeeks is down right now.

The only change is I stripped Sprint stuff out, added Alltel stuff in. No other changes whatsoever. It will fix your splash screens and extended ROM back to Alltel if you flashed the official leaked Sprint firmware.
There is no IPL/SPL or radio in this ROM. You must first flash the 3.27 radio and Olipro Hard-SPL 2.40 first. Then copy TITAIMG.nbh to a FAT32 formatted MicroSD. Put the MicroSD in the phone and press POWER+CAMERA while pressing RESET to get into the bootloader. It will begin flashing automatically. No RUU is included because I couldn't get the RUU to work with Hard-SPL 2.40. However, maybe my old USB 1.1 laptop is the cause. If you'd prefer to try an RUU, just rename the file to RUU_signed.nbh.

the ruu works fine for me with spl 2.40, and you dont have to rename it at all, as long as there is only one .nbh file in your ruu folder.
THANKS!
Wish Me Luck!
THANK YOU!!! Downloading now.

I never could get the Alltel WM6 RUU to work with SPL 2.40, nor the one that came with the Sprint leaked FW, nor one I downloaded from your FTP. They always cause the phone to reset at 1% and I get "ILLEGAL COMMAND" on the RUU. They all worked just fine with the old Hard-SPL 1.20 and also the 1.06 in the relocker. Weird. My laptop won't ActiveSync with any of my devices unless I turn off "Advanced network connectivity" in the control panel either, so it must be my old Thinkpad laptop. It's a P-III antique.
At any rate, flashing this ROM will be even easier for those who can use an RUU.
I don't know if anyone is interested, but I've updated this ROM for 3.35.651.2.
Nevermind.
Updated for 3.35.671.9.
guys, i downloaded the new Alltel ROM yesterday. As stated, still wm6 but with RevA capability. I'm new to this stuff, but it looks like the above alltel ROM just gives the new stock ROM GPS capability. Is that correct?
Yes, it is a permanent way to get GPS capability with the stock ROM.
I theorize the necessary changes can be made into a simple cab file so you don't need to flash the ROM unless you want the GPS enabled permanently. I plan to make a cab later today as some people want to try it out.
yeah that would be cool.i have the new Alltel Radio, and i'm running DCD 3.0.1. the reason i went with 3.0.1 was i thought it enabled GPS. Now that i've got my device up and running, i see it does not.
DCD3.01 does infact have working GPS my friend.....
could be, if that's true my alltel engineer friends doesn't know about it. He told me GPS would not be enabled on the 6800 with Alltel. He even runs DCD, he can get it with a Sprint Radio, but not with the Alltel radio. again, that's just what he told me.
What he meant to say was that the ALLtel update does NOT include the drivers (3 of them) in the operating system thereby not enabling it, but the radio itself will allow GPS to work.... I'm flashing it right now, be back in a bit.... If you flash a DCD 3.0.x ROM you will have GPS drivers.....
gotcha. i'm not doubting you..just wasn't sure of that.
i have dcd3.0.1 for alltel. 3.0.4 was taken down. I didn't think the radio was going to allow it..that's why a few friends i have are using the sprint radio. I'm a techy, but not in this world, so i'm learning...

3.0.4 rom was never put up for alltel, thus never taken down
GPS does work with the alltel 3.37.20 radio and any dcd 3.x.x, on any carrier.
Is there any real improvements to this radio or is it just a higher number? Thus intreguing people.

If it is only three drivers, couldn't we just nab them from a GPS enabled ROM and manually copy them to the proper folders?

Unlock Hermes with the latest radio

Is there a way I can unlock my hermes whilst keeping the newest radio (1.54.00.10)?
Yes, load hard spl ver.7 on then pick a rom, any rom that doesnt upgrade the radio rom. Most cooked roms don't have the radio cooked in. Happy upgrading.

VERY incorrect reply.
@ TheOracle
The radio version used in pofs unlocker has been modified to allow CID/SIM unlocking so you must use the package provided in the thread there.
I can't seem to find the thread, I'll keep looking though I'm probably being stupid! Thanks for the help =D
Well I've just unlocked the phone again with CID-Unlock V3a, however it's stuck me with Radio 1.16 . Could I still use Herm_Unlock_v3 etc with the newest radio or will it brick if I don't use Radio 1.16?
Here are the steps needed
1 Download and unzip the unlocker. All of the instructions are included on the zip file. Follow it closely. Read the thread for instructions and common mistakes before you do it. The program will install radio 1.16 which you'll replace with step number 3
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
2. Install hardspl. Use this guide by mrvanx. Very straightforward. Use a computer with xp, avoid vista.
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=30&Itemid=27
3. Download your radio rom here and install.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtractedRadioRoms
Go back to mrvanx guide on installing radios. Read all the threads and understand what is needed for each step to safely upgrade your device. If you're not sure, it's better to ask again on this thread. I hope this helps and good luck
Also, I think you can ask where you bought the phone to get an unlock code? I know at&t will do it with conditions.

I always unlock using the manual method, so for the last step I transfer HERM_Unlock_v3.exe to my device and run it. Click the unlock button, then select sim and super cid unlock.
Follow the steps I've provided, you should be fine
For future reference, here's mrvanx's hermes guide.

Need advice, with Telecom NZ titan, rom1.3

I just upgraded from my old harrier, trying to figure out the extensive information avaliable on upgrading the titan.
So, Rom: Telecom, 1.30, boot loader v1.40
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanStockHome
On the main stock thread, it says:
The nueROM web site indicates that nueSPL version 2.47 is designed for the HTC Titan with GPS enabled only (ROM versions 3.xx or higher)

Obviously this isn't the right bootloader, and therefore i can't use that bootloader. Also this seems that I can't load 3.xx roms.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanOtherHome
Looking at this page, there are several different radios listed, but I can't see any that do windows 6.
Can anyone tell me what upgrade path I need to take to get windows mobile 6?
I don't even know what type of rom will work with my telecom phone :\
Any assistance appreciated.
You CAN unlock via nueSPL 2.47
Myself i unlocked via olipro 2.4 <-- unlocking this way is not for the faint of heart ..
Once you have done this, you can load a Sprint radio rom version 3.35.04 onwards then ..
you can then load a WM6.1 GPS enabled, Rev A EvDo, rom, as well as have the capability to use an 8GB Micro SDHC SD Card..
If you don't note down your EvDo password before upgrading, you will lose EvDo speed and be stuck with 1X mobile broadband speed
or you can save some heartache and let me do it for you for a fee send me a PM
I may have to take you up on that, but I will give it a go myself first because i want to figure out how to do this.
I tried running the getspl.exe on my phone, to try and recover my msl number, but it just crashed on execution.
Are there are other ways of doing this?
getspl..
dont bother, it doesnt work on the telecom titan.
.. much to learn you have, young skywalker
our MSL is 482826
i) to get to the EPST menu, enter ##778 then press talk
ii) click on "edit"
iii) enter the MSL given above
on the left hand side menu, click on security
go to the security settings and save the HDR AN AUTH LONG password <---- this is vital.
This password is lost during the radio rom flash. After unlocking, flashing the radio rom and then the OS rom, you can re enter the HDR password back into EPST.
Keep me posted
actually you cant unlock via nueSPL 2.47.
Because the Telecom Titan is WM5 with a non GPS Rom, the you can only unlock via HardSPL 2.4.
nueSPL 2.47 only unlocks GPS enabled roms.
sorry for the wrong one, i was thinking in terms of a post flash rom.
Cheers
Hey, so just to make sure I understand what i'm doing here before i take the final steps, does this sound right?
1) Save HDR info
2) Unlock phone with HardSPL 2.4.
3) Rom: Telecom, 1.30, boot loader v1.40
4) Install 3.2x.Hard SPL and flash the SPL
5) download desired rom
6) install rom (somehow), most likely the Titan R4R.
This will allow me to use my phone, have win6 and gps, correct?
Thanks!

Few questions about roms

Hi guys,
I´ve read a lot of posts here at xda.
But i have few questions before i try to upgrade.
First of all, my RADIO version is not listed anywhere here. It is 1.58.21.26. So if i SuperCid it, is there a problem to put another radio version?
2 - If i install another ROM(original or cooked), is there a way to go back to the default rom that it´s in my phone? even after i installed other radio version?
3- supercid, hardspl, sspl or uspl? wich one is better or keeps my original rom and radio??
Thanks!!!!
1. If you CID, and use HardSPL (1.22 latest i believe) you should have no problems flashing new Radios or ROM's.
2. When you flash a new ROM your current one is over written (after you have flashed it you have to set up the OS again - all data stored in phone memory will be lost).
3. They are all different Things. HardSPL permanently updates the SPL on your phone allowing you to flash a new ROM when ever with bricking your phone. SSPL (SoftSPL) allows you to flash a new ROM (or radio, or hspl) 1 time then returns to the normal SPL. uspl, I'm not sure about I have never used it before. and CID unlocks the device to all networks and allows you to flash any ROM (rather than just ones from your carrier or official HTC ones. NONE of these will preserve your ROM if you flash a new one. however if you just flash these bits they should not effect windows or your radio.
DO NOT put a new ROM on your phone until you have unlocked it and put HardSPL or SoftSPL on it. If your brick your phone its near impossible to get it working again!
Questions before proceeding.
My HTC NIKI100 was unlocked for any carrier through the IMEI code, it also has the original radio 1.58.21.26. Perform the installation process of HARDSPL 1:22 as the tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355730 and got success! now I can put a new radio or need to do the procedures as SuperCID here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395945 ???
