Dear dev's
I've got another idea hope you can do something with it
I was wondering if it would be possible to tweak the youtube app so you can turn the screen off during a video i.e. if you just want to listen to the music and don't want to drain your battery with the screen on when it's not being used.
When you press the "end call button" it shuts everything off so I'm fairly sure that's not the way to go
Maybe just a simple button in the menu list. Menu > "Music mode" or something like that.
Happy hacking!

There's so many things wrong with that...
-Youtube is a video service, not a music service, so, for listening to music, a music service is recommended and they will play with the screen off.
-Youtube's audio quality is horrendous, so again, music service 2, youtube 0.
-With Youtube, you download the audio PLUS the video which you don't plan on using, so you're using additional bandwidth for nothing. Even if you do have an unlimited data plan, the additional data downloaded has drained your battery a bit more than just downloading an audio stream. Music Service 3, Youtube 0.
If you MUST do Youtube, the only way I've gotten it to work is by pressing the "END" button while the video is playing. The music will stop right there, but then when the screen is off, press "BACK" once to bring up the lockscreen up again and then music will resume playing with the screen on at the lockscreen instead of the video screen. There's no way to play Youtube videos with the screen off, so lowering your brightness might be the best option here.

- Okay got me there so what kind of FREE music service would you recommend?
- The sound quality is horrendous, but it is a nice alternative if you're on the move and don't have a particular song with you.
- Ofcourse the battery drains when downloading the video, but don't you think that if you have the screen on as well, it drains even more?
Well, I don't fully agree with your arguments, but I look forward to hearing a response for the free music service

Hello,
While there are many MP3 players, most are lacking the basic features. Is there an MP3 Player that will auto shut off the screen after 1 or two minutes and continue to play? I do have the utility that turns off the screen and its fine, but it just so annoying. Anyone ?
Thanks

Yes there is, the best player for the device is Pocket Player. I say that because I'm bias'.
www.conduits.com and give it a try. The settings are a little to difficult to figure out at first, but once you play around and figure them out you can't beat it.
The latest GSPlayer is free and works well.
Hint: On any MP3 player this should work - Lock your PDA with the lock in settings or put it on your desktop, then hit the on/off button while listening to music via bluetooth. This will keep it playing with the screen off but you have to be disconnected from the USB cable.

In the menu settings inside GSPlayer there is an option to turn the display off.
vito sound recorder
Pocket Music from PocketMind is a good player. I use it for all my sound/music-playback. The full version has an option to automatically turn off the screen after a specified time (whilst continuing to play).
I can't say for shure about the free version as I haven't tried it.

Mortplayer does this as well, in case you need another option.
Hi. I have some serious issue with my vibrant which is just 3~4 months old
Recently, my vibrant had problem playing video files. When I play a certain
video, it stops playing within 1 minute, pause, and I have to manually press "play"
again in order to start a video again. The problem is, same thing happens
after I press the play button, within 1 minute, video stops, pause, and I have to
do the same thing over and over. This happens when I play a video with stock
video player. Let's say If I play a movie with "soul movie," then the different problem
persists, where this time the video turns into black screen and then continue on
playing for about another less than a minute again. Although I do not have to press the play
button in the "soul movie", the video doesn't last 1 min before it turns into black
screen and resume again.
I haven't had this problem at all until recent days, I tried everything I could,
rebooting, re-inserting micro sd. It can't be codec problem cuz I used to play
this video flawlessly before. Now, I hope I don't have to "factory reset" the
phone. I'm very reluctant to do it. (Also, I don't know how to...)
Can anyone please help me with these issues. I'll really appreciate it
Thank you and HAPPY NEW YEAR.
try an alternate video player like doubletwist and see if the problem still persists.I know I don't use the stock music our video players for anything, they're kinda bad.

thanks for reply. I tried doubletwist and same thing happens as when i play movie with soul movie.
So, it's like
STOCK MOVIE PLAYER-----> PLAY, STOP PLAYING, AND NEED TO RESUME MANUALLY
SOUL MOVIE, DOUBLE TWIST-----> PLAY, BLACK SCREEN, AND AUTO PLAY AGAIN
THIS ALL OCCURS WITHIN 1 MIN OF PLAYING ANY MOVIE
I know android allocates memory when its not using some apps.. but there are some I don't want it to.. like how Google maps loads its signal every time you switch to another app, or let the screen time out.. or how the browser, when it's watching that megaupload timer, and you switch to something else to kill the time, when you come back the timer hasn't moved at all.. of if you're watching a video online, letting the screen go off, or tabbing makes the streaming video start all over from the beginning cause it lost its place. or if you want to listen to music from a YouTube video, turning the screen off kills the vid
is there a way to stop certain apps from sleeping? I know some apps never sleep, like music players, or Google navigation
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I'm on a GNex on T-Mobile, but my friend is on a GS3 on Verizon having the same issue. Ever since the All Access update, music that I stream would sometimes play in low quality even when I have the settings set to always play in high quality. It even happens when I have full signal. It usually happens when I start playing a new album or playlist, but it does occasionally happen in the middle of an album. To get the song to play in HQ i would have to start a new song, pause it, go into the settings, clear the cache, and play the original song again. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Has Google even acknowledged this?
Edit: Sorry I should've tagged the title with [Q]
I've noticed the phone audibly clicks when a video in a social media app like Twitter or facebook starts to autoplay.
Phone is on silent/vibrate. Media volume is off too but still clicks.
Issue seems to be intermittent too.
It only clicks when you have moved on a screen where a video has started playing, i.e after scrolling through some images and then come across the video that starts autoplaying. If you go from one playing video, scroll down and the next one auto plays as the other video stops it doesn't click. It's really distracting but very feint at the same time. Anyone else noticed this?

Yes I've noticed it too. When scrolling through videos that auto play, namely Instagram. And mine is also intermittent. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.

Supposedly fixed with update .122
Good.
Would be even better if LG released notes indicating all buz fixes with 122 to help us, you know, their customers...
