MP3 Player with auto screen off selection - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo ROM Development

Hello,
While there are many MP3 players, most are lacking the basic features. Is there an MP3 Player that will auto shut off the screen after 1 or two minutes and continue to play? I do have the utility that turns off the screen and its fine, but it just so annoying. Anyone ?
Thanks

Yes there is, the best player for the device is Pocket Player. I say that because I'm bias'.
www.conduits.com and give it a try. The settings are a little to difficult to figure out at first, but once you play around and figure them out you can't beat it.

The latest GSPlayer is free and works well.
Hint: On any MP3 player this should work - Lock your PDA with the lock in settings or put it on your desktop, then hit the on/off button while listening to music via bluetooth. This will keep it playing with the screen off but you have to be disconnected from the USB cable.

In the menu settings inside GSPlayer there is an option to turn the display off.

vito sound recorder

Pocket Music from PocketMind is a good player. I use it for all my sound/music-playback. The full version has an option to automatically turn off the screen after a specified time (whilst continuing to play).
I can't say for shure about the free version as I haven't tried it.
www.pocketmind.com

Mortplayer does this as well, in case you need another option.

Sprint Touch Pro - FLAC Decoder for Music?

I'm wondering if anyone has gotten Windows Media Player on WM 6.1 to play FLAC. Will it do WMA Lossless?
I am curious if WMA lossless works on the touch pro 2 also.
Windows Media Player on the Touch Pro will play them just fine, with album art as well! I can't see Microsoft removing WMA lossless support from WinMo, so it should work on the TP2, especially since the TP2 ships with WinMo 6.1 Pro.
<mini_rant>
I personally hate using my HTC TP for music but it gets the job done when I'm not carrying my iPod Touch:
Copy music to SDMicro card -fine
Launch media player - ok, I have a shortcut for that so it's one tap after unlocking.
Manually trigger library update which is not fast (only for new music)
Make sure that it's set to use the storage card. (Yup, more than one Library)
Navigate through the lists - Not bad but damn it's ugly and text only.
Select what you want - No no no! No multi select for you! Queue it up one by one! And that requires highlighting the track, tap the Menu list then tap Queue.
Press play (That's right, you can't double tap or hold for a context menu, etc)
No real way to quickly get back to the Media Player if you wander out of the player to do something else.
</mini_rant>
You can do a simple test by taking a music file and converting it to WMA lossless then copy the file to your phone and play it back.
I think there is a tiny buffering issue because I notice that lossless tracks have a tendancy to skip once in a while. It's not constant but it is annoying sometimes for me when I have it connected to my car stereo and I'm rockin out. All of a sudden, there's that split second pause that takes me out of my groove. It has happened on different tracks so I can't say it's the files themselves.
Nice! I just put a WMAL file on my phone and it plays natively. Awesome. Do you have any suggestions on how to batch convert wave files to WMAL? Windows Media Encoder is a pain.... Perhaps I dont know how to use it properly.
glad i did a search, was going to ask about this for my HTC fuze. now i just have to buy those darn usb to audio hack thingy.

Possibility to turn screen off, while using youtube

Dear dev's
I've got another idea hope you can do something with it
I was wondering if it would be possible to tweak the youtube app so you can turn the screen off during a video i.e. if you just want to listen to the music and don't want to drain your battery with the screen on when it's not being used.
When you press the "end call button" it shuts everything off so I'm fairly sure that's not the way to go
Maybe just a simple button in the menu list. Menu > "Music mode" or something like that.
Happy hacking!

There's so many things wrong with that...
-Youtube is a video service, not a music service, so, for listening to music, a music service is recommended and they will play with the screen off.
-Youtube's audio quality is horrendous, so again, music service 2, youtube 0.
-With Youtube, you download the audio PLUS the video which you don't plan on using, so you're using additional bandwidth for nothing. Even if you do have an unlimited data plan, the additional data downloaded has drained your battery a bit more than just downloading an audio stream. Music Service 3, Youtube 0.
If you MUST do Youtube, the only way I've gotten it to work is by pressing the "END" button while the video is playing. The music will stop right there, but then when the screen is off, press "BACK" once to bring up the lockscreen up again and then music will resume playing with the screen on at the lockscreen instead of the video screen. There's no way to play Youtube videos with the screen off, so lowering your brightness might be the best option here.

- Okay got me there so what kind of FREE music service would you recommend?
- The sound quality is horrendous, but it is a nice alternative if you're on the move and don't have a particular song with you.
- Ofcourse the battery drains when downloading the video, but don't you think that if you have the screen on as well, it drains even more?
Well, I don't fully agree with your arguments, but I look forward to hearing a response for the free music service

Any way to stop stock music player from autostarting on BT connect?

I've searched and can't find anything, but I need to find a way to stop the stock music player from playing when my phone connects to my car's BT. I use Google play music and want that one to auto start, but every freaking time I start my car, the Samsung player starts that dumb preloaded song.
Honestly, I don't care if I can't get play music to autostart, I just want the Samsung one to stop. And yes, I've tried disabling the app, but it can't be, at least non-rooted. So, any help/advice would be great. Thanks.

Is Google Play Music set as the default music player? I haven't rooted my phone or anything, it's completely stock and just by setting Google Play Music to the default on Day 1 of getting this phone (April 8th) it always auto starts when I connect via Bluetooth.

I never got the option to set it as default and I didn't see anything about it in application manager. Any idea where to find it?
OK, figured it out in a round about way. I had to open a .mp3 in Samsung's file explorer and then it asked me for the default. So let's see if it works.
@Hendrycks
Thanks! It worked.
That didnt work for me. Upon linking to BT in my car, the stock Samsung player still auto starts. I have tried setting play music as default, I have set Player Pro as default. it still auto launches the stock crappy Samsung player app. Ideally I dont want it to auto launch any app. I use Pandora alot in my car and since it auto launches the samsung app, that means my car stereo does not display the track info for the playing song in Pandora on the screen.
Sooo annoyed
I have the same exact issue and it is driving me crazy. I have tried everything in the phone and settings and there is nothing. I have downloaded both Connect and Play, and Smart Connect as bluetooth connectors but the stupid factory music beats it to the punch every time. Nothing works! I am about to chuck my phone. Someone please help!
me too
Does anyone have another suggestion? This happens to me if I even "pause" my podcast player too long. Truely annoying.
I am going to try this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cp2.start.and.play.music.player&hl=en
So far, with the UI, it does look like it has the right settings/options.
Sorry to bump this but came across this while trying to sort this very same issue. I'v found an app called Package Disabler Pro in the Play Store . The best thing is that it works without root.. It isn't free but I thinks if you been looking for something thats solves this issue its worth it. It worked for me so hope it works for you. And if you try it quick enough you can get a refund if it don't work
Download Trigger, I have mine set so when it connects to bluetooth it launches Google music but you can choose anything you want or nothing at all!
Sent from my SM-G925F using XDA Free mobile app

I have the same problem. I installed Trigger, but it didn't work. What task did you add?
The best I came up with was denying access to storage in the application's settings. Now it just prompts me to give it permission when I connect to bluetooth. At least that horrid song doesn't play anymore.
Have you tried Tasker ? Had same problem myself on S6 Edge, but after a little fiddling with Tasker. The default "music" closes, tunein radio is launched & my volume levels are adjusted. I can revert back to "music" by pressing play/pause on hands free.

Decent Music app for Android Head unit??

Hi all,
I have an Android Headunit which is currently using the default music app. I'm looking for another one that has more functions.
When the unit starts up it will generally run the last running app which would normally be the music app. with the music app it will auto start playing again.
I'm basically looking for a decent music app that will auto start when opened. As well one that has album cover and has the random music function option.
I've played around with Tasker to play the music when the app runs but this won't work when the head unit auto starts the app.
Thanks
i think many music apps can do that, when you open the app the music starts, all you need is to set in the setting.
i search for you online, there's 10 best music apps, but i don't know whether i can put the link in the forum. try this:
www dot techsupportalert dot com/content/best-free-music-player-and-organizer-android dot htm
if not, please tell me i will delete it immediately!!
the players i've tried don't seem to have that setting. The last one was Poweramp which seems to only auto start if headphones are plugged in.

Music player default headset action

Hi all, I'm running a Huwawei P smart, and got fed up with the default player, so started using Musicolet (after trying several). I like the feature of being able to select a folder and play everything in that, rather than just an album, or artist, or playlist, or all music.
However the default action of the phone was to load the use the inbuilt player, even after I set my chosen one to be default. After locating a thread on here, I stopped the storage access for the default player, which is great. It no longer loads.
But I do not seem to be able to get musicolet to auto load and play when I press my headset play button. Once loaded all works fine, but if i pause music, after a few minutes my player unloads itself.
As I ride a motorbike, it's a pain to have to remove glove, unzip, get the phone out, load the player, the put everything back, all because I say stopped for fuel and paused the player.
Any idea's how to get a new player to auto load?
Thanks.
