Tilt 2 (Non-camera) replacement battery cover status - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Accessories

I just called the HTC Accessories group 1-888-716-3594 again and asked if they sold the non-camera Tilt 2 battery door. I was told they don't have ANY replacement parts for the Tilt 2/Touch Pro 2 yet.
I wonder how long it takes for HTC's own parts supplier to actually start stocking parts.
I'll try again in a couple months...

Thanks to the heads up via a private message from B-Lot, HTC is now selling the no-camera battery cover for $17 + shipping = $23.
Part number - 74H01520-01M
I just ordered it so if I don't post here in a few days complaining that they sent me the wrong thing, assume that it is the real deal.

Nice find. The only thing a google search for that PN brings up is this thread. Let me know how that goes, cause my non cam back door is looking more and more scratched up these days.

Request for Phone Number
Can you please provide me the phone number that you called to order the battery cover? I have called many HTC numbers and they all report the same answer; "We don't sell that part". Thanks...

@JValmont - It went well. It is exactly what was advertised for business Tilt 2's
@gotvet - I called the number listed my original post - 1-888-716-3594

Hi Sleze, pls kindly ignore my PM as i'd since gotten my non-camera battery cover. Thanks.

Sleze, thanks for the clarification. I called the phone number today and the first message stated is that HTC is no longer selling accessories via that phone number. Instead, shoppers are directed to the website shopamerica.htc. For whatever reason, the website does not include the battery cover as one of the accessories available. I called the phone number for the website and they confirmed that the part is not available. The person didn't know if it's no longer available or just not available yet. I guess I'll keep trying the website in hope that the part becomes available in the future. In the mean time, if anyone comes across an on-line source for the Tilt 2 non-camera battery cover, I'd appreciate a heads-up...

seems like such a pain but i guess necessity.
anyone keen on selling this phone (non-cam) phone? i need it urgently.

Vario II magnetic case & T-Mobile

I been having loads of problems with the original Vario II case. The strong magnets have been changing the screen to landscape mode, freezing and even crashing the windows...
So a while ago I called T-Mobile customer service and told the lady how disappointed I was, theres clearly a design fault with the case. She said theres nothing she can do (bit rude) but then I insisted I can talk with her supervisor.
She wasnt very happy but said her supervisor would call me back within few minutes. About a half an hour later, that same lady (not her boss) called me back saying they will send me a new aluminium case! However... after couple days of nothing in mail from T-mobile, I called them back. A guy tells me they run out of stock of that case, so what I could do is buy one case anywhere and they would reimburse the costs in my next bill (faxing the receit of course).
I called HTC manufacturer customer service (very helpful people!) to ask where to get a good case and they pointed me to mobilefun.co.uk. I ordered a cool leather one... and T-mobile kept their promise, I was refunded for the costs!!!
change the case
the point of my post was... if you're on T-Mobile uk its worth call the customer service and ask for a new case / pay costs of a new. they seem to be aware now of the problem the magnets cause.
I have to say i've not noticed this issue with my vario II, is this specific to a batch?

I saw somewhere that the Hermes platform supposedly uses something called a Reed Switch which detects whether or not the keyboard has been slid out.
The Reed Switch is activated by a small magnet in the case of the phone itself which passes over it and that's why the magnets in the bundled case make the screen switch.

Have you a link to the HTC case you mentioned.

Phantom Skinz for Tilt2 ?

Hi all,
Does anyone know which Phantom Skinz will fit the AT&T Tilt 2.
They have 3 versions on the website for TouchPro2, but the carriers are Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. No AT&T
http://phantomskinz.com/search.aspx?manufacturer=5
I emailed them at Phantom Skinz but they don't know.
Thanks
I actually contacted them about a Tilt2 version as well. They said that they don't have one right now but then they asked me if I wanted to loan them my Tilt2 so that they can create one. They said that they would fully skin my device free of charge if I was willing to lend them my phone, thanks but NO THANKS!

That's a good one, loan them your Tilt2
Lemme guess, they had the T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint versions loaned out to them too ?
I thought they are in the business to make money, they should be on top of their market.

Hi All,
Just a quick clarification. We believe the Tilt 2 is the same design as the T-Mobile version TP2. We will edit our site to indicate this. Also, we occasionally get requests from customers looking for a skin that we do not have. For popular phones we will offer to have the phone shipped to us, draw the phone, install the pattern and return it to them. In addition, some people just like to have us install the skin, which we will if the phone is shipped to us.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about PhantomSkinz!

TMob TP2 back cover is different than the ATT Tilt2...so the fit will not be the same.

Brian,
Thanks for that. I will add the AT&T model to our list. HTC really wears us out.

Please let me know when added to web site. I'll get one for my Tilt2
Thanks
Invisible Sheild a better bet!
Just go with Invisible Shield, I've used them for my iphone and had the same skin on for 2 years. I now ordered one for my ATT Tilt 2 and my ATT Pure. It's an extremely well made skin. And the best part, they already have one made for the ATT Tilt 2.
http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/htc-tilt-2-cases-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php
well, I got the verizon skin. I am not impressed with the edge pieces at all. It may be that the design of the phone and being complicated, but with the edge pieces being rounded and cornered the pieces dont fit well.
The battery cover and the front lcd skin fit nicely. I am not really liking the feel, the stylus doesnt drag over the screen freely, it is rather rubbery feeling so it stutters, often causing unintended results.
I spoke with phantomskinz in an email over about a week and a half (kind of long time, for something so simple) and they offered me to ship it back for a refund. While I am sure I wont get my shipping back and I will have to pay for shipping to them and then I am only saving like $9 at best. So, I will wait till I find a decent deal on bodyguardz or the like and replace this.
I would suggest to use something else as phantomskinz customer service is not the best and takes longer then necessary. Also quality of the design is probably matched or exceeded by another maker.
the side was a no go for me too.. you cant put them on.... they dont fit well
the back came out nice and so does the front but thats about it.

Does Anyone Know Where I Can Get One? Or If The T-Mobile Or OEM Version Will Work On The AT&T One? I Tried Ebay And Other Places Online But No Luck... Please Help.

Are you missing your back plate or trying to get rid of the Att Glossy cover?
Im Actually Missing My Backpiece... And I Cant Seem To Find The Tilt One, Or One That Fits The Tilt Anywhere.
BUMP?
Can anyone please help me out? im running around without a battery cover on my tilt 2 for some god forsaken reason nobody seems to be selling it? anyone know of anywhere? or maybe if one of the other touch pro 2's battery cover fits this thing?

http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/accessory?action=accessoryDetails&archetypeId=11546&page=1
Pulled both of these links from posts directly next to this one on the accessories page.
The Verizon one won't fit, the CDMA version has different dimensions from the GSM. The OEM version won't work either, due to the PTT button on the ATT version of the phone.
any word on a replacement cover for the tilt 2? i dropped mine and scratched it up good
Has anyone found a replacement back cover? I have seen the extended battery covers online but not the stock oem version for the tilt2. I am thinking of buying a tilt2 off craiglist without a cover for a reasonable price.
Thanks,
Joe
I ordered one from HTC - and they shipped me one without a camera hole! WTF? Part number 71H02751-XXM
OK.. WOW. I just got off the phone with AT&T.. they called HTC Escalation after I explained everything to them...
-new tilt2
-lost cover
-ordered replacement from HTC
-received cover w/o camera hole
They explained... they have a whole batch of Tilt2 covers that were manufactured WRONG! roflmao. awesome. So they'll be sending me a replacement ASAP. So for now, I have no camera
You can see it's identical to the AT&T cover, PTT button and everything.. except... whoops. Forgot to mold the camera hole.
Sorry guys, cut and paste the link for the pic

I even accept buying a used one, camera hole or not!

It isn't a collectors item nor was it manufactured incorrectly. AT&T carries a second version of the Tilt2 for business customers that lacks any cameras and therefore has a cover without a camera hole.
I found what I think is a decent deal @ Ebay. Just do a search for "NEW AT&T HTC TILT 2 2150mAh EXTENDED BATTERY AND DOOR". About 56 bucks shipped. I have seen the 'normal' covers (With a camera hole ) for sale as well.
Just bought one from this link myself:
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-OEM-HTC-Til...ewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item439f210925
The Seller is NAKPAK if you view this after the auction goes dead so just search on him or "Tilt 2" cover
Battery Cover for Tilt 2
Here's one I just found for you on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-OEM-HTC-Til...ewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item439f210925
Hope it works out for you.
Found this site that has them for about $5 less than any ebay listing I've seen:
http://shop.vendio.com/gtonline/item/2052561888/?s=1277106962
It had free standard shipping for me too (I'm in New Jersey, I'm assuming it's free U.S. domestic shipping).
Mine is gouged, and appears to be melted by something... that was a shocker to find out.

In the new forum style, the pic doesn't show. So, no link info to copy.
Also, those covers may not be a mistake. There's a series of the same phone made without a camera for those who go into security conscious environments (defense manufacturers, etc.) where cameras & camera phones aren't allowed. That set of covers may have been the most recent ones made.

just a little curious but if you look at the top of the battery cover, is that a design or reflection? would be pretty sick for a new battery cover design for the tilt 2

Enabling HTC One Hidden Menu...

Hi there...
Has anyone had luck enabling the hidden menu for the One? I have been through several of the old ways of doing this on other phones with no luck. Please advise if you've found a way to do so. I just got a replacement phone and am trying to see if its a refurb or if I actually got a new replacement like I was told. Thanks
Option 1 - Dial ##RTN# - No luck
Option 2 - create a shortcut through custom launcher: Shortcut>Activities>com.android.hiddenmenus - There doestn seem to be a com.android.hiddenmenu file here.
Thoughts??
Those menus were probably removed due to the carrier's request.
That said, you can tell when it was manufactured by looking at the serial number, see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=642459
HTC does not reassign serial numbers if a phone is refurbished, so if it is pretty close to the date you received it it's probably a new unit. Plus I doubt this phone has been around long enough for there to be refurbished ones.

It was a refurb. Date was 4/13/13. I thought the same thing, but they are out there! I talked to TMo and they're sending me a new brand new one since I was within the 20 day window.
branshaw, how did you find out? Mine had a minor ding on the bezel but I didn't notice until I left the store and I just don't want to pay the restocking fee.
I checked the link but doesn't tell me anything. Something else, I don't have the box with me but I'm pretty sure the manufacturing date was 4/13/13 as well.
So, how did you find out it was a return?
Thanks!

I figured it out really based on the way I received it. I received it in a generic box that only included the phone in a clear sleeve. If it was new it would have been in retail packaging. If you received it in retail packaging then it's new, you just got one with some damage.

Ah, thanks. Mine was on a new box, so I guess it is new. No problems with the minor scratch really, so all is good. Manufactured 4/14.
Cheers,

That's not exactly true - I got a replacement Sensation that came in that sort of packaging and was made in the same month I received it, so it could go either way. But if you get one in the original packaging then it's almost certainly new.

HTC Function test?

Those with flawed HTC Ones, still within the 14day remorse period - Possible solution

First of all let me emphasize on what I mean when I say "flawed". I went through 5 HTC One devices all from AT&T and all supposedly "new", and each one I received has had some type of issue or the other. I think it was just my badluck and absurd. Never went through this type of experience.
1. Wide gaps between the plastic and metal part of the phone.
2. Multiple dead pixels on the screen.
3. One of the speakers buzzing or busted
4. Device dented/scratched right out of a brand new box
5. A rattle with the vibration motor
6. A camera that would not focus at all
7. Recessed power and volume buttons into the body
8. Flickering screen
9. Raised speaker grill that fell off after holding the phone to the ear to make a call
The 5 devices I went through, were all imperfect and I paid full price for all of them. So I was really angry and disappointed with each one of them. AT&T provided minimal help, and as the exchanges stared to happen the customer reps started to question me and stopped trying to help me and told me to "live with the device" or "opt for a different phone brand". Calling HTC customer support was even worse, as I got curt answers about having to pay for the shipping to HTC and back to get the device repaired and be phoneless for 2 weeks. They wouldnt replace it even if the device was few hours old out of the box.
As a last dire attempt I tweeted to Jason Mackenzie of HTC America and just went off about HTC's poor quality control, about the customer service reps lack of respect to their customers, and all the problems that their brand new phones from AT&T seem to be having. Within minutes he tweeted back to me and asked to email him. We exchanged a few emails back and forth about all the problems I've had and I provided my proof of purchase. He got my information and number and had an "Escalation Specialist" get in touch with me. They agreed to do a swap with my phone and send me a brand new one straight from their Corporate Office and double check it for any flaws. Will come with prepaid packaging to send the one I have with me currently back. Just needed a $250 dollar hold on my credit card that I will get back.
This may set a bad precedent but I paid $669 for the device and expect quality that lives up to that price.
To anyone that has had as much badluck as me, this may be a way to get your case escalated and figure out a solution.
Goodluck!
Hope the 6th one is the One you're looking for.
Sent from the "ONE" phone for me
Did I read that right? You paid full price for EACH of the 5 phones?!? Meaning, like what, around $2k'ish?
Wow
