I have a problem with my Charmer - I was flashing it, when I didn't read any instructions and I failed it. Some month ago I came back to Charmer and I repaired it with the "Rescue Kit" and it worked some time. But now even if I flash it with any ROM, my PC write "Congratulation", Charmer turns on but stuck in the splash screen and It's all... when I go to bootloader, it goes and write the IPL and SPL, but when I do Hard reser, it writes "Formad failed", but It can be flash!!! With any ROMs... Please, help me, I like this phone...

Hi!
As you can see mostly it is hopeless.Rarely rehotting DOC chip can help and I read somewhere that sometimes flashing helped,but that was a desperated try with Prophet ROM or something like that.If I was you I could try to flash it with Goldcard (just from curiousity and nothing to lose),but if ChrBeck can't help then who?

Yes that mith with the Prophet flashing is true. But for that we need a working Aku1 ROM to get the IPL down.
Then the Prophet thing works. That is what I found out.
The heating up thing is a mith. It helped only 1 time and is not the best you can do.
And Goldcard is the biggest SH*T I ever heared.
For devices without reachable OEMSPL something like a Goldcard doesn't exist. Goldcard just flashs with SuperCID and without Signature checking. It is like using a HardSPL and won't help.
That is all I know.
Get a good working AKU1 and I'll build you the solution (if my idea is realy right).

Just a few things:
I'm in searching for an AKU1 ROM.I had it on my computer years ago,but it lost when my HDD damaged.If I find it,I will upload it for you.
The heating up:in this case probably it doesn't help.When we have a device that can't be flashed properly,we try this and it helps more often than you think.Not only with PDAs,but with phones too.

I know what is Goldcard about.
The reason I mentioned it,it helped me 3-4 times when the device (not only Charmer,other devices too) stuck on bootloader or splash screen after flashing.I didn't have too much time in the workshop,so I tried this and worked.
I don't want to argue with you,I know you are an expert in this,I just tried to help with my experiencies.

OK nice that you found the ROM. Maybe we'll have a new test package for the fix of format failed error soon then.
And yes you are right sometimes Goldcard helps if you have forgotten to flash HardSPL or it is damaged then it may help but you need to have acces to OEMSPL and we don't have it.
So hope I can do something soon.

I have a Charmer with IPL,SPL 3.08.Unfortunately it is CID locked,so I can flash it with official v3 ROMs only.Is there any solution to downgrade it?Or with JTAG only?

I tried that,but:
1.flashing is successful,but nothing has changed,I get the old OS after upgrade
2.I tried the v1 ROM I found.The IPL has been changed to 1.12,but the SPL remained 3.08.The OS has been changed in this case,so it worked flawlessly.
The CID unlocking methods didn't work (obvious,SPL was 3.08).
After that I tried to upgrade it,but it was a torture.I got errors and errors,but after an hour finally I could upgrade it successfully.
So,if you have an idea,I have a device to test it.

The IPL is down means it worked. After that you can flash a Prophet ROM.
What ROM of Prophet?
High, I was today flashing my Charmer with all original ROM I mean and the flashing process behaves OK, after flashing, it writes "Congratulation" and all the things like OS, Radio, IPL... are change to the definite ROM. But it's all. It will stuck in the splash screen... I have read in this thread something about Prophet ROM. What is it?
The prohpet ROM is an official Prophet AKU 2 flashable after downgrade.
System is as follows:
Fist flash the Charmer AKU1
Then flash a Prophet AKU2
Then flash Charmer Aku3.
You need to do all these steps with the NOID RUU.
That should fix the HardReset failing.
I'm working to get a tool running that does the whole thing automatically.

I'v been up for 24 hours. I have searched, read eveything, DL every tool, rom I could find and I am tired and upset. I have followed every post to the line.
I have a G4. I used the shelltool and flashed the TNT_5.0_Wizard_Professional to it. It booted once and worked great but has never booted since. It gets to the HTC screen. and shows the IPL 2.28.0001 and the SPL 2.28.0001 the GSM 02.25.11 and the OS 6.0.0.0
At this point I don't know what to do to unbrick my phone. I tried to go into bootloader and reflash the ROM but it always gives me a no communication error. Any advice or any one having this problem and had any luck fixing this would be super helpful.

You don't have a brick
Load the wizard into bootmode (start and keep voicecommand button pressed until you see a three colored screen)
Then kill active sync (wcescomm.exe in taskmanager).
Connect your device
Load the original rom and flash.
After that you can reflash almost any rom to your G4 with Soft SPL.
Its faster than shelltool
Or you can CID unlock it using hard SPL, and run the Ruu from the ROM itself.
Before using Soft SPL or Hard SPL read the threads first.

Two things:
1- 'No communication' can come from low voltage battery. Be sure to have it more than 60% before changing ROMs
2-The TNT 5.0 is a cooked ROM and is smaller than the Official ROMs.
TNT5.0 - 0x3800000
Official - 0x3900000
Which means that ShellTools can hang because of the size difference.
You don't have a brick

It's not a brick yet.
Have you tried Mestrini's tip, regarding fully charging the device?
You can also try to use another usb port and better yet, another computer, even if the initial flashing was from the computer you are using now.

i have been from that state already..
just use the wizard_love ROM..
yea, they are right.. you have to be in that 3 color screen..
then kill the active sync or uncheck usb connection in connections settings.
then flash the wizard love ROM..
after that, u cud flash any WM6 again..

I think that is hardware problem. I flash only OS, without radio and now my hermes work only as PDA, wi-fi and BT also work, but still no gsm.

I don't know. In my country I have a htc services and they say to me that my motherboard must be replaced because is to hard to change only radio chip and they only change all motherboard. For 350 Eur(+some Eur) I can by new Tytn. Now I use my pda in my home (in toalet) via wireles to look internet. Work's fine, but sometimes freeze OS and I must do soft reset.
ok guys , i might found a temp solution or maybe it will work permenantely with some one , but i need some one who have spare time and steel nerves coz i'm sick and tired of trying many files and roms and radios .
so any one is willing to start this experiment with his hermes and his spare-time lets begin .
first of all i want to declare that this method revived my radio and i used my device for one day just fine receiving and making calls . then the next day i decided to make a hard reset to see if the radio will stay working , and the result was the radio was dead .
here we go .
1.flash you device with GM360 gold edition http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329282 don't ask why just try it .
2.after the phone is flashed with gm360 and working ok with no radio or "no gsm" messege now you should flash your phone with your device manufacturer WM5 ROM .
3. to flash WM5 rom you need to follow mr.vanx guide for safe WM5 downgrade . http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=27&Itemid=26 here it is .
4. now after you've flashed WM5 successfully and your device is also working fine with it but still no radio or "no gsm" . you need to flash only radio to your device . no OS only the radio .
5. download this radio . http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334697 and unrar it on some folder . and don't flash it yet to your device .
6 download Olipro RUUwraper 5.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298737 there u go.
7. now the files from step "5" which they are the radio 1.54 put the file ruuwrapper from step "6" in the same folder with them to start the radio upgrade using "RUUWrapper.exe" not "ROMUpgradeUt.exe" . when u run it you will have multiple choices , choose "Force Unsafe SSPL (not recommended)" . .
now the radio upgrade should go smoothly as it went for me the first time . after the radio upgrade is done u should be able to use ur radio fine .
now can some one take half the effort of me writing this long method and try it ? thanx for the feedback also .

Hamed I dont know what's happened with my hermes, because I get him with the no gsm error. I have a bootloader 1.09 with enable kitl mode. In PB I lose many, many night to boot os but without sucess. And post many question here, but without answer, a-h-t1 is the first men who try to help and meny 10x for that.
So, before 2 week I send my hermes to Imei-check and before few days I get it back with bootloader 1.01 mfg and instruction from imei teamroblem_Description: The radio chip is faulty 100%. Now the handset is usable as PDA only (wifi + bluetooth working too), but not as a phone (the GSM module refuse to answer/flash).
DO NOT attempt to upgrade the firmware in the phone with a firmware which has RADIO upgrade, as it will put the handset back to the brick mode!!!
Model is SVP3100.[/COLOR][/COLOR]
After that I put the SPL 2.30 Olipro to prevent any future damage, and continuing to "play" and experiment, because I don't have more than, to loose. I have P3300 who work's very nice....
It's possible to boot any OS without radio. (I use nbh tool 1.01 to extract nbh file to nb and after make Ruu_signed but without radio).Also try metod via SD card and same to you, stop when try to flash radio. Also it's happened on 12-13%(independed of the rom version) when start full RUU upgrade. And when try to flashing only radio they stop on 0%. On 12-13% ruu upgrade try to flash radio in this moment, and this is the end. I am not sure is this hardware problems, but imei (I dont belived too much) said YES. In win OS I don't have a imei identification (in device info/identity) and of course radio version is blank. Sometimes happened that os blocked(freeze) or device just totaly go to power off mode and I must to do soft reset. Is any way to totaly disabled phone function in registry? I mean that freeze when phone try to find network or sim, but I am not shure. Last night I open my devices, and get out motherboard, just to see this famously radio chip. It's not possible in "home made" to change yourself this chip. Only if I have a more lucky and found some broken hermes with ok motherboard for 100-150 eur...
I hope that my info just little help to you to know "mystery" about our problems.

ok,i think it was almost three months ago that i had posted my last post!!
you know my problem and i feel it has became a common problem for poeple who have hermes,unfortunately.
last week,i found a service man who believed that my phone's problem is fixable.
so i gave my pda to him,and because he lives in another city,i returned to mine and waited for him.
yesterday i phoned him,and this is what he said to me:
"first,I tried software methods,but the result was nothing!then I disassembled the device and changed the piece of RF of your ppc.it hung first,but now it loads the windows and find the antenna too!!but immediatly after finding,it hangs."
he has used the Dopod's RF in my htc TyTN and thinks that this problem(hanging after finding the antenna) is because of not matched radiorom.
I have good feel about his say,and i'm trying to help him find the correct radio rom,because he is so busy and cant search the internet to find the radiorom.so I've mailed him the link of wiki's radio rom for hermes and I hope someday this tragedy will finish but i'm not sure.
if anyone have comment about this case please help us,specialy about the RF,because I don't know anything about the Radio Frequency.

The upgrade process would start and then [email protected]! 11% and I would get ERROR 262 (loss of communication) No FIX anywhere, even with site full of "supposed Hermes Fanboys" Nothing NOBODY knows nothing bout this issue. BUT I think I have found a fix (I have recovered twice gonna do it 1 more time to confirm METHOD)

Its called a 1a brick. Look in the sticky brick section. like 170+ pages of this issue. I believe I have the same device. No GSM/ no imei no radio. Can flash rom's all day long, as long as rom doesnt include GSM. Try to flash ANY GSM does nothing, let it sit 10hrs... Nice free PDA, till i can figure out the wiki & there must be hope for me. Till then my wiz100 keeps rocking. Like the 8525, but wanted it more as a phone then just pda.

I hope you will fix your device,but when I read about your solution,I felt that guy who brought back to life your device,has just used a ROM whitout GSM,the way that we have been using since months ago.if I'm in mistake so tell us more.

as he told me yesterday,he tried another used RF,but this time the TyTN's one and it worked) and there is no problem.so after 4 months nearly I can use my pda.
as soon as I can,I will go to get my device and test it myself.

its full name is RFSP=Radio Frequency Signal Processor.it's one of ICs on your Hermes mainboard.it needs a professional to replace.I'll explain more early.
but if you have same problem and have tried all of the the wiki methods then you can test my solution.

I have followed the Hard SPL guide for a G3 ---- Check
So what have I done? please someone help - it's a mates phone
also I tried to go back to the original WM5 from the FTP site, but it fails because I have updated the SPL, I would appreciate a link to a WM5 that doesn't check and that is in english........ if that would fix the problem
One last thing - i tried to use the update tools again but it says there is no device connected so I did a hard reset and tried again but no go, after a hard reset i can flash the other roms though

that is good and for experience users, mine is mostly for juniors. Please read and nothing bad.
The jumpspl... 100% work, and follow the steps, never fail.
Will your method work when not booting?
Just read your method and I hope to try it soon, but will your method work if it is not booting --- the method sounds like it needs the system to boot is this correct?

Can anyone please post a guide on how to flash Hard-SPL onto my HTC TYTN.
The guide for installing Hard-SPL onto the HERMES is not available anymore, and i am EXTREMELY confused about what im doing, and i am afraid i will brick my phone if i do something wrong.

Read the sticky, first post on this page.
It really isn't hard to do. But be sure you know what you are doing btw. SO read the sticky!
Basically you just download the flavor of Hard SPL you want (I used 2.10 which I can recommend, very easy to downgrade to factory SPL again as I just learned!).
After download unzip the folder and run the RUUWrapper. Follow instructions exactly, do nout unplug your device etc. and it should work like a charm. It takes about 1 minute!
If you don't know what you are doing or you are still doubting, wait for Mr Vanx site to come online again or don't flash. There is always a risk you screw up and end with a $500 brick.
So use at your own risk!

hi guys have tried to update mine today on a jasjam it connects sys it updating but starts at 0% then just jumps to 100% and says flash finished but when i restart the phone it still has the same loader what am i doing wrong i want to update it from windows 5 to windows 6 using crc-9 but don't want to update till i do the loader any help from you guys would be great

start the device in bootloader, what is displayed?
Mine is doing the exact same thing. Starts at 0% and jumps to 100% and says it is done, but it has done nothing.

the SPL flash is VERY quick.
I'll ask YOU this aswell, put your device into bootloader mode and tell us what it says.

thanks for your reply after checking the bootloader it has changed to 2.10 olie it did it so fast i thought it had failed will check properly next time and have successfully flashed it to crc 9 and it runs great thanks for all the help

I appreciate your reply Mr. Vanx. Same as with puca, I put my phone into the bootloader mode and it does indeed show the correct 2.10 Olipro version. This is the 3rd 8525 I have had and I could have SWORN it took much longer on the first 2. Even the update from WM5 to WM6 seemed to take much less time with this particular phone. Guess I shouldn't really complain
Downgrade Error 260
Hi Mr Vanx I have followed your guide to downgrade my current SSPL (2.10 Olipro) to SSPL (1.11). But I keep getting error 260. I have followed guide step by step.
I have even tried flashing from SD-Card (by renaming to HERMING.nbh). Process runs successfully, but nothing happens.
Its still showing SSPL-2.10 Olipro in bootloader. Am I missing anything?

can some one point me to the guide. I am facing a NO GSM problem on vodafone VPA 1605 with following config:
ROM Version: 1.20.161.6
Radio: 1.03.06.00
CID: VODAP001
Bootloader: 1.04
I do not see the radio version or the IMEI. So I would like to do a HARDSPLv7 followed by Radio ROM update to 1.06.00.10. I hope this will work. Seniors may help with their sggestion.
Can someone help me with the guide to HARDSPL as I am doing it for the first time and the guides are not available at MR Vanx site nor can I locate the sticky?

I have an I-mate 9502 but my problem is for pocket pc generaly.
I installed a program for sound, When I do a soft reset it hangs on Blue Imate page and didn't boot.
I tried to hard reset but it dosen't worked too(I know hard reset of it, is Green+FN+Power button) but it don't work, Also I tried to install a fresh Rom but it need to loud windows.
Please help how to hard reset it.

After Flashed with the new ROM, My Device is now stuck in iMate Blue Screen Logo....!!!
But Don't worry Guys...it can be solved with manually hard Reset...
1. Remove battery and reinsert (to make sure the phone is off).
2. Hold down Fn and the Green button (with the phone icon on it) and press the power button.
3. You will see the white hard reset option screen almost immediately. Press the Left Soft Key to hard reset.

Ok, after 2 days of fighting, sweating, a pc hdd full with roms,tools,mtty,etc...
...i'm giving up. i am posting a help request for the first time since i am a xda user,
and that's been for almost 2 years now. i rather solve problems by doing research on the xda forums but this time i am out of energy.
i had an raphael before where the hacking process was pretty straightforward
and flashing a cooked rom was really idiotproof.
now i got an cool athena in my hands. i was like yeah, let's flash baby....and
the original OS didn't even last for half of a day. quick enough i realised that
this baby shouldn't be flashed the raphael way - the sd card method...
ok let's get on topic:
what i did:
flashed with the AP4 SPL 3.5 AthenaUpdater (following the howto exactly)
and well. that worked fine. the OS was booting and everything. but to my
surprise it looked like that AP4 update flash thing didn't ship another cooked
rom, but flashed my SPL only. i rather expected a SPL, CID unlock and ROM
install in one single package. i don't know what made me think that, since the
raphael has to be flashed with different stuff too before beeing able to...bla
since i was so happy to find that AP4 update howto i guess i was assuming
that this is the whole deal since it doesn't say anything about seperate CID
unlocking in that .pdf
anyway, i looked for a cooked spl 3.5 compatible rom and there i found it:
[ROM] *Updated Mar/4/2010* AGB V3.00.0 (WM6.5.5 build 23534)
and well, that was basically it. the flash went ok, but after booting only
the rom's splash screen appears and nothing further happens. hard reset
doesn't help.
i tried a few other roms after that, and again. only the rom-specific custom
flash image appears and nothing happens.
tried to flash the AP3 for SPL 3.5 ROM - same thing: flash screen says "operating system is loading", which is an bitmap picture i guess...
downgrade to SPL 1.2 doesn't seem possible since this requires a running
WM, which i don't have.
bootloader works by the way, hard reset works too, but no fix...
after a little reading i get the idea that i should have cid unlocked the device
before flashing with a cooked rom? or did i something else wrong?
any help would be appreciated
oh yeah, and mtty:
the recover from invalid id procedure doesn't fix the issue.
and:

doesn't fix anything too, just boots the device into the never ending flash screen....

what does your boot screen say
and did you remove your sd and simcard before flashing
yeah, the i ofcourse removed the sd card and sim card before everything.
i am at work now but afaik my bootloader screen says:
ATHE100

SPL 3.50.Olipro
before the attempt with mtty it said
ATHE400

SPL 3.50.Olipro

i have a new status of my athena: it boots a ROM for the first time. i have flashed
it with a test rom, called:
Windows Mobile 6.1 Base ROM (Testing)
It can be found on the athena latest ROM links page.
And ofcourse there is a BUT(T)....
BUT..the configuration wizard keeps looping. Means the device boots WM6.1,
asks me to calibrate the screen. after that touchflo (or sense) shows up for a few seconds, a progress bar appears and installs some (invisible) stuff and the device reboots. Normal behaviour you'd say, but the calibration screen comes again, and the progress bar too, and reboots, and again, and again...
maybe somebody could tell me how to stop that process? it seems like the
device doesn't save the first time setup settings. how to fix it?

I live in a different time zone and my daily email about updates to posts comes late in my day and probably when you sleep.
There are not many people who use this device and it is really a legacy machine.
However your post gives a clue to what happened.
with the bootscreen showing athe400 initially are you sure you have an x7500/x7501 or is it the x7510?

Check out exactly which hardware you have

well, i must be honest i didn't pay too much attention on the model number.
after reading your post, i checked and i see that i have a X7510 advantage device.
which means as far as i can understand it:
i SHOULD have the modelid ATHE400?
which means, i messed it up by flashing it with mtty to modelID ATHE100?
which means, all the time i was installing X7500 stuff on the wrong device
and bricked it that way?
so the AP4 3.5 SPL solution is not for X7510?
which means, the AP4 3.5 SPL is a hard SPL but for another device?
and after all, what do you suggest? do i need to revert my modelID
to ATHE400 and if yes, how? and after that i should follow the 2nd
thread to install a proper hardSPL and a WM6.5 ROM of my choice?

you pointed me to the right direction. i followed the steps for installing
hardspl for x7510 from cmonex, and yeah, the modelid changed back
to athe400 and the device was booting! seems like that hardspl also
corrects the modelid automatically.
i am still curious why the device was working after flashing with AP4 3.5 SPL
in first place, since that one is actually for X7500 devices.
i should 've read some more before going to flash that thing, i must admit.

now it's time to look for a nice wm6.5 rom for my ATHE400
