Samsung omnia battery problem!!! - Windows Mobile Apps and Games

Yeahh, so i own a Samsung Omnia i900, and it basically doesnt update the battery life or what is left of it on the home screen (it jus shows 3 full bars).
Then it will just randomly turn off =/.
Anyway of getting passed this is greatly appreciated =]
Thanks in advance.

What have you tried so far?
Is it the original battery? I bought a couple of cheap batteries of ebay and they would drop from 90% to 0 very quickly. But my orig samsung batter still works fine.
Have you tried hard resetting? If it is really painful bug, you might try hard resetting. It should take it back to the orig setting and get rid of any software build clashes which might have caused this. It is a bit of a pain, but backing up data first makes it OK.
Have you tried updating your ROM? The newer ROMs over at Modaco are very good on battery life and don't seem to have this problem. You might want to update your ROM if you haven't already done so.
Sorry, thats all I can think of for now.
Michael

It happened to me once with my diamond, how ever i "condition" the battery dischaging it completly and charging it again completly with no intermediate charges. But its up to the battery.

Battery Problems, hermes dies after half an hour.

Hey guys, I've got a really annoying problem with my hermes.
My battery doesnt seemed to stay charged for more than about 30 minutes, the power just drains out of it. I bought a new battery to see if this would fix the issue, but the same thing happens with the new battery. Sometimes the device gets really hot as well.
I don't think its my Rom or Radio, but I'm going to try downgrading to WM5 just to test it out.
I was wondering if there may be a short somewhere that is causing this to happen?
Has anyone had this happen to them?
Any brilliant ideas as to what could be causing this?
Thanks,
-Kai
It is strange that it dies after 30 minutes!! I cannot think of a functionality that drains the power so fast, however, it possible that it is software related.
Has the device been subjected to high humidity?, could there be something short circuiting somewhere?
I hope it is a software issue that you can easily be overcome with a upgrade/downgrade.
Good luck.

I've been having this problem on & off ever since I got my device, seems to drain faster when running Messenger/Windows Live, I've down graded back to HTC OEM spec from Black Majik to send it in for repair. Now that I'm back on WM5 IPL 1.01, SPL 1.11 Radio 1.38, my batt is even worse than before. Some days my batt will last the whole day other days, without any significant reason I'd find the device warming up in my pocket, I'll find that it has depleted the battery from 90% to 30% in the space of 20 mins. The only way I can prevent the batt from further discharge would be to remove the battery for a few minutes & reinstall it again.
I complained to the local HTC agents last week & they suggested that
i bring in the device for repair. Also my device can no longer connect to my PC via the USB cable always giving me a "USB Device not Recognised" error. My other HTC devices connect via USB without a problem to the same PC. I've also found that at times while trying to re charge the battery the orange light begins to flash after a while instead of steady on, when in this condition my battery is hot enough to fry an egg on. Again I have to remove the battery to correct this situation.
I have flashed various ROMs & radios, some have given slightly better battery performance but marginal, Black Majik was the best but with my latest connectivity problem........I might as well try to send it in to the repair centre. Not sure if this is a Herm200 problem.
Alright, I re-installed the original WM5 operating system and everything seems to be working ok. I kept my old radio, ipl and spl though.
If it continues to function alright I am going to install a new WM6 OS tomorrow and upgrade the SPL and Radio.
I spoke too soon, the battery continued to die after working well for about an hour.
Now I have updated my radio and OS to Black Majik, and I seem to be able to get 4 or 5 hours out of a charge, still nothing near what I used to be able to get.
It seems unlikely that I got 2 bad batteries in a row, but maybe I should try and get another one.
do you have a MicroSD on that device? have you tried to remove it and test it without the microsd in? Do you use Data Connection ( 3G or HSPDA ) ? I´ve been having the same problem. Whem i had wm5 and SHADOW i would have 2 days battery easly... The first time i flashed MAJIK i´ve had battery for 5 or 6 hours. The problem appears from a day to the others, so it cant be a battery problem. Now i travel everywhere with a charger in my pocket
No, there is no MicroSD installed, and I do not have HSDPA or UMTS enabled, so that shouldn't be affecting my battery life.
I've come to the conclusion that it is definately some kind of internal short or something, as the battery, rom, ipl, radio and spl do not seem to affect my battery life in any way.
Looks like I just got myself another expensive paperweight.
Actually it may be simple to fix.
Has it been like this from day 1? if yes, it could be something not fitted properly or a leaking device/connection such as touching something it should not.
Or it may be a piece of mineral dirt where a circuit board cleaner would just do the job.
I just remembered that earlier models with serial lower than HT636xx had problem with screens, it may be related!.
Same issue here. Although it is a relatively recent problem in my case. I have had the device since Last Fall with various Roms....always seemed to get 12 hours of typical use. I charged the device about an hour ago, went out for a 45 min run, made a 25 min phone call and recieved the low batt warning. I am concerned about this. Switching batteries ever two hours is a pain in the a$$. FWIW, I dont use Live or any of its components. Just normal activesyn settings for Push.
Ryan
Well ... FIXED MINE !!! after upgrading from wm5 to Shadow and Then Majik i was having a lot of problems. My battery would run out in 5 to 6 hours with BT:On WIFI:Off GPRS/3G/HSPDA:On. After installing WM6 ( Official ) i´ve had my tytn running in the same configuration ... and after 14hours .. my battery is at 90%
Hmm, I may have to try installing an official WM6 rom then, although I'm still almost certain its an internal issue, because it get so got sometimes.
The other thing that is concerning me, is the screen on my device seems to go out of alignment quite often (this is new, the device is 11 months old and this is the first time it has happened).
screen aligment is a very well known issue ...
@ invictive,
In this case repositioning or releasing the pressure on the screen may solve your problem.
If there is not hope of repair under warranty, Google for Hermes Screen Alignment and you will find a complete description of how to fix this problem.
Properly test for other reasons before attempting to disassemble the device.
Good luck.

[Q] Galaxy S2 Dying?

Hey XDA!
I'm having an issue with my Galaxy S2 I9100. Basically the problem started a while ago when I dropped it and the screen shattered. I wasn't willing to get the screen replaced so I bought a replacement screen off of eBay and replaced it myself. At first it seemed to be in complete working order and everything was going great. However, over time I got an issue of the phone turning off and me having to restart it. It would come at the most random times too, I would be going about my business and the phone just randomly turned off. The problem progressed and got worse and worse and the shut downs would be more frequent. I remedied the problem by keeping the phone plugged into the A/C adapter and it wouldn't shut down while it was charging. It got worse however, and I could barely turn on the phone without it completely shutting down after a few seconds, and even when it was charging it would still turn off. So basically my question is how can I fix this? Is it a hardware problem and something that I shouldn't try to fix because its not worth it? I tried even resetting the phone to factory settings and everything I had in my knowledge to fix it but nothing would work. Would it be just worth it to sell it as spares? Thanks for helping me out!
That sound like the battery is dying, not the device.
Get a genuine samsubg battery and try it out.

Allright, the battery seems to have expanded a bit as well I should note, so that may be causing the problem. I have a friend with the same phone so I'll try his battery to see if it makes a difference.
Swap it & share the outcome with us.
Sent from the little guy
Battery expansion is a sure sign that the battery needs replacing, and the other symptoms you describe are common to a failed battery too........
If the battery has expanded, that is an indication of a build up of gasses within the cell.....the battery is now pressurised....it could physically fail at any time....best to take it out and throw it away before it leaks fluid all over the inside of your phone. Further charging will only serve to increase the risk of failure.
Sent from my rooted, de bloated, stock JB powered S2 via PhilZ kernel and XDA developers app
Oh god I feel so stupid now lol. Yeah I tried it with another battery and the phone works completely fine nothing wrong with it. I guess I'm gonna order a replacement battery off of eBay tonight and sell my phone once it arrives. Thanks so much guys! :good:
Just for future reference however, how is the battery expansion caused and what are some ways to prevent it? Thanks again.
'Old age'. You can't. When the battery begins to expand & feel 'squishy', it's time for a new one.

[Q] My Galaxy Note is Siiiiccckkkk

Please... someone help me as I have bought this phone without a warranty and likewise have no insurance.. and I JUST bought the phone maybe a month ago!!!!/B]
My phone won't keep a charge, it charges only to a certain point while on the charger (that is any charger, inc. the one that came with the phone), but will die within about 15-20 mins after taking it off of the charger, and if I use it while on the charger it will drain the battery the same way as if it was off of the charger, and die within 10-15 mins! Likewise, it started doing this funky vibrating stuff just an hour ago and will not boot up while on the charger at all anymore! I did a little research and found different opinions.. the most relevant being a need to replace the charger port and the other to change the battery. This is crazy as my phone as well as the accompanying accessories such as the battery and the charger were bought brand spanking new and SHOULD NOT be going crazy like this!

One p.o'd Miss
I take it the phone is 100% stock; not rooted or no custom ROM? And you say that it is new and you did nothing to cause this? You didn't get it wet?
Try a factory restore. If that doesn't help then I would try a new battery.
Sounds like a failed battery to me.
A trip to your phone carrier store would be easy enough. I think they would at least try another battery for quick diagnosis.

No, I did no cause the issue nor did I get my phone wet. It simply started doing what I described in my initial post.. I noticed it when I plugged my phone in and it has been an ongoing situation for about 4-5 days now.
Thank you for the response and suggestion

Thank you very much for the quick response. I figured that the battery was the issue. I had a Samsung Galaxy 3 prior to purchasing the Note and it had the exact same issue,.. well not the same exact symptoms, but the need for a new battery due to not taking a charge, and I hadn't had that particular phone more than 6 months! Perhaps it is a Samsung manufacturing issue with faulty batteries, similar to car manufacturers who have massive recalls on their vehicles due to faulty engine or other car parts. My physician told me that I needed to switch to an IPhone, lol... better quality I assume. Perhaps he is right.. ???

Oh.. I forgot, yes the phone is 100% stock as you assumed. Terrible that it is doing what it is doing! Guess I need to get that battery then... ho hum.. more moola out of my darn pockets!
Your carrier (AT&T, T-Mobil, etc) store would at least put in a known good battery to see if that is all it is. And if so, then a new the cost of a new battery is next.
And as far as the iPhone......been down that road, and I could never go back to the iPhone. It was good for it's purpose and reliable. But NO more reliable than any Android phone I've owned. (3 of them).
And should the battery die in the iPhone, you will need to take it or send it back to an iPhone repair center. You don't just pull the back of it off, and replace the battery. At least in my 2 - iPhone 3G versions anyway.
And then there is rooting...cant hack an iPhone. You can jail break them, but that is not the same thing, and you still have no control over the OS.
JMO on the apple stuff.. Good, but VERY limited.
Keep your Note, it's better IMO, and has a huge screen.

[Q] Is this S2 simply dying?

Unlike mine, my mother's SGS2 has been running quite swimmingly all these years. But a new problem has arisen; even with a full charge, the phone will randomly die. As little as 5 minutes or as long as a few hours, but it turns off all the same.
Figured it'd be the battery considering its age, so I bought a brand new one. Properly branded, new stock and all. But the problem persists.
She hasn't installed anything recently that should be draining the battery -don't think she knows how to install anything, come to think of it- and although we might be able to budget a new phone for it, it'd be nice if the S2 was salvageable.
Everything about is as stock, so just wondering if there's something I could do about it or whether to give up. In my experience, Samsung do seem to make phones to last..until the next model is out! My old S2 was crap within a few months although my Note 2 is still hanging in nicely..so who knows.
So my question is, is there something I can do to get this phone playing nicely again, or is it buggered?

I think the problem is with the new battery. Maybe, you can try another battery, since, my phone is 4 years old as well and I purchased a new battery 2 months ago. So, if I my phone runs stock ROM, I get 24 hours of battery, which is pretty descent.
Another workaround would be to try to locate custom ROMs which save battery, and flash them to check the issues. If not solved, you can always revert back to Stock ROM.
Regards.
But it exhibits the same problem with the brand new battery as it did with the old one.
Which makes me think it's less a battery problem and more something else. And rather than buy yet another battery, may as well just buy a new phone.

Check your usb port as well. Check out this youtube video or google for more info

So with further testing with a new battery, the S2 seems to turn off at about 25% power and after a little while on charge I can turn it back on.
I've recalibrated the battery, factory reset and all but the problem is still present. Can't figure this out.

Problem with the hardware. Try cleaning out the USB port. It's probably time to move on an buy a new device.
Yeah, I've done so. Just would be nice to have it working as a spare.
Thanks.
Propably motheeboard is dying, if new battery doesnt help. Also try to reflash Official JB 4.1.2 via ODIN, if problem persist, it sadly means that its time to change phone.

Battery drain

I've had a problem with my phone since day one (beging of November). I've tryed reading up for tips here, tryed alot of diffrent thing, plus hard reset, soft reset, repair in Sony bridge, fabric reset, runing the phone in safemode ect. Nothing seems to work. I use the phone normal, only some calls and texts somethimes, camera, and scrolling social media. But still the bayttery last just a half day, full charged in the morning and empty before bed time.
Does anyone have any more tips? Anyone think Marshmellow will help? Really reluctant going back to the store and them sending in for repair, being without a up-to-date phone for weeks and most likely problem not solved when geting it back and then doing this for 4 times before they'll replace it. (aldready done this every 3month or so with the Z1C og Z3C since spring 2014... *tiered*)

That's the lollipop radio active bug on latest .200 build I guess, I got similar case with you. Battery draining quick when not in use but I'm better than u, probably you got some other apps/services spending extra battery at background too.
Send back the phone every week won't help. Flash back .152 rom should be better but I think it will need Marshmellow to fix it ultimately.

For me it seems okey when not in use, unless theres a bug or something. F.ex the battery indicator is pretty much the same when I stop using it and when I pick it up again. And then it drains fast, f.ex scrolling down internet/facebook/instagram og whatever it drops 1% pr every 1min +/-.
And like explained, Ive tryed to run it in saftymode also, all my apps, settings ect gone, and pretty much still the same battery drain.
So unsure if marshmellow will fix this, or the store needs to repair it if thats possible, or the phone just needs to be replaced. Or maybe someone has another battery fix tip?

I understand now, you switched to safe mode to freeze background apps. I still believe that sd810 is quite power hungry when you real get used to it and some apps like facebook is usually resources hogging. But mine won't drop like 1% per min, there must be somethings wrong with you. It can be bad battery or charger in your phone damaged or the usb cable or wall charger which made your battery not actually full charged.

Hm... Yeah, it might be something like that. Been like that since day 1 =/
I originally bought one a week before, but it had the echo problem so since it was within 30days they just gave me a new. I think that one also had a bit of a battery problem, but cant remember if it was that bad. I really should have gone back before 30 on this one too, I was just so tiered of replacing and sending for repair. And I thought Marshmallow would be right around the corner or that some of the things I have tried might work.. But no..
But yeah, do think its more likely that it needs repair/replacement than that Marshmallow will solve it?
EDIT: It cant be the actual charger btw, I switch using an old Z3C charger, the one that follows and an another USB charger.
I face a similar problem. I doesn't have any solution :/
I gave up, and sent it in for service. Fingers crossed it helps and no more problems with anything after that.

I've used BetterBatteryStat and track what is causing wakelock. After limited them, my battery is a bit better now.
Sent it in for service also. I hope they will send me back a fully working phone. This is my first try with Sony care on 3 sony phones !
Sooo, the service report says that they have installed newest software and fabric reset the phone, tested it and dont see the same problem that I do.. That was a bummer, since the problem is deff there (I have same settings, apps, widgets ect as I have had on several z1c og and z3c. But battery have been better on all of them, 3days when they are new, and 1-2 days later. This z5c has been at approx 1/2 day since day one... ). And i have tried fabric reset, soft reset, hard reset, repair in bridge and saftymode. Hope it just magically works when I get it back..

My drain strangely slowed down after flashing generic nordic over Norwegian Telenor branding. Can't really explain it since the branding is very subtle.
