I unlocked my 8525 and flashed to the ATT wm6 found here in the upgrade section. When i try to connect i can go to medianet home page no problem. when i try to go to anything else like comcast home page it has a white screen and thats it. Like there isnt any info to load. I tried yahoo and it took me to its mobile page. But any site that isnt a mobile page it wont load. Got any ideas ? Im gonna flash back to wm5 but this sucks . what am i doing wrong? Please help!
What connection you use?
Using WiFi shouldnt have any issue.
My guess is that your connections settings actually are Wap based - this is causing the problem.
In case able to have straight GPRS connection everything should be ok
Best
That makes alot of sence. Thanks. Could u point me toward the gprs settings and how to enter them? Thank u very much.

Here you go man...I hope this is what you are looking for.
I recently had to figure this out as well when I tried the TNT 2.0 ROM.
http://rapidshare.com/files/42598341/wpbear_Proxy_Folders.cab
Just install the CAB file to you phone and you should be good to go.
Hey thanks! Ill try it when i get back in town. Is that cab the gprs settings?

Another issue is that most AT&T based ROMs have the proxy enabled by default. Run the disable proxy program (or edit the connection setting to not use the proxy) and see if that helps.

That's because AT&T wants you to access the Internet though MediaNET connection. If you are using MediaNET, you need proxy. If you access OpenDNS or just use some MyISP settings, you will want to disable proxy. It is a mismatch of connection and proxy that does it.

Thats what i thought. The settings for medianet , gprs , and open dns should be a sticky.

Of course you could just run THIS LITTLE CAB FILE and have it set all the settings for AT&T for you!
(Not mine. WPBear posted a Cingular Settings CAB file a long time ago. This one came a bit later and was posted IN THIS THREAD
After pulling out a few hairs !
I finaly took the sim out of another att phone and the internet worked ! SO i got another one of my phones and put in the sim and it worked again ! Now knowing that all this time it was our fearless carrier That had things not right on their end. I called ( for the third time with one visit to the att store ) and got someone that knew what they were doing and it worked. PFFFFFFFFFFFF!
Such is life. Thanks guys for your help.
Hey I'm new to android, just got a vibrant last week. Decided to unlock it as I travel a lot. The unlock worked, but now I'm having issues with my wifi. I can connect to a wireless network but I cant load pages. The wireless signal is strong and I tried with different routers, but still no luck. Looked through the forum and googled it but couldn't find a solution. If some one could please help with this, it would be much appreciated
try clearing your current wifi settings including remembered connections, passwords, and everything else...then re-scan for networks all over again, that's all I can think of for now
By that you mean just gong into settings->wireless and networks->wifi settings and then just forget the net work, rescan, and rejoin the network? If so, I did that but am still getting the same result. If you can think of anything else or if I didnt do what you suggested correctly please let me know. Thanks

yeah, thats what I meant :/....hmmm...sounds like your connection is working, can you download stuff from the market or is it just the browser? cause I unlocked mine too and wifi works fine
No I cant download anything from the market. I cant do anything that requires an internet connection, but it does show that I am connected to a network.

Have you been able to try another network? My first thought was it was in Ad-Hoc mode but I could be wrong. If nothing else restore to stock firmware and then try a different unlock.
Happened to me too. It would show the wifi icon on the notification bar but wouldn't load pages. I'd go to the settings and it'd say can't turn off wifi or can't turn on wifi. And when it was "on" I'd say connecting to modem then it'd just stop. When I was using the browser on wifi it would load a page even when I had full bars. I had to turn it off then back on to load another page. Is this similar to the problem your having?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I hope this doesn't sound stupid but yesterday I uninstalled Advanced Task Manager and poof my wifi started working again. The phone also seems to suffer from less occasional lag without it installed, but that's another story for another thread. Prior to this I had to manually turn my wifi connection off and on, but even that didn't always work. Since the uninstall I have not my wifi connection once. I am currently using the stock rom, rooted with minor adjustments here and there.
hi guys, i also have this problem.
i will be taking the phone in to the tmobile store on thursday.
it shows that i am connected via wifi; however, anything that requires an internet connection does not load.
very frustrating, since just yesterday i used the samsung kies software to tether a network for my laptop. i was testing the capability of the vibrant to act as a modem, and it worked just fine.
any help would be appreciated!
thank you
Charlie
connected but not connected
I also have this problem.
In my Vibrant shows that i connected, but i can not load pages. Someone
found any solution to this problem?
Hi all,
This is happening to me too. Rebooting seems to get Wifi working correctly again. But the problem comes back eventually.
Maybe a bug in the latest JI6 update?
Wi-fi problem.
Someone found any solution for this problem?
Froyo's update will fix this issue?
Thanks.
i hang on you **** iphone users they just bay for its cool smartphone **** iphone android is the king
Hey,
Just this moment finished flashing Chucky's ROM onto my Virgin Media HD2 (UK)
Downloaded radio 2.14.50 before hand
I can call people fine but i have no internet connectivity, I'm on a contract with unlimited Internet so i can't afford to lose it!
Have i done something wrong?
Would really appreciate some help!
Cheers guys
give the phone a good 24 hours on the new rom thats how it happened for me my only problem is that every radio i flash is having the same echo problem
Does it mean anything if i actually can connect to the Internet, but Opera 9.7 and 10 both wont?
I tried internet explorer and could reach a few pages.
Tried both versions of Opera (My preferred browser!) and keep getting internal server errors on any page!
I'm on Virgin
settings, wireless controls, data connection, is it on? if not tap on the left of data, menu, updata data base current operator
then after the update, go back to data connection, tap on the off/on box it should go to on
when you flash, all you network providers settings are over written You need to reset them on the phone so now you need to set up mms as weel, try sending one after you have set up data
Thanks for the replies guys,
Actually before i saw the above post, i went to check Virgins site for info and they had manual settings that i used. So now my data connection is active with those settings and emails, intnernet seems to be working.
It's just opera that isn't. I've tried the whole Opera:config thing and disabling auto connect box but nothing!
It doesn't bother me that much it's just i've always found opera mobile to be more fluent than IE!
I am having an odd problem with my Optimus one. Internet connection is working fine for all the apps over WIFI, but when i switch to my EDGE connection, apps like Market, Mail (Yahoo), Facebook, Cnet, NDTV and many more are giving an error saying "Network error, Unable to retrieve error". I tested the mobile network settings and i am able to browse fine using browser app in my mobile. Looks like only my browser alone works fine using EDGE. I searched a lot but couldn't figure out the solution.
Note: I recently rooted my device and moved few apps to my SD card using Titanium. I am thinking if i have moved some important app which should be running in internal memory for the apps to retrieve data in EDGE networks. Before rooting i was able to connect to internet for all the apps both using WIFI and EDGE without any problems.
Please help. I am struck with this problem for over two weeks.
Thanks in Advance
im not sure if this will work but try this:
go to settings>wireless&networks>mobile networks>access point names
there set the options that are appropriate for your phone
Yeah.. i verified that.. Thanks for helping. but i don't think its problem with mobile networks as i am able to launch all the websites using my browser apps. Its just that my apps are not able to use the mobile network i guess.

I guess the problem lies with the apn only...
It happens with me sometime as the access point name automatically switches to wap access point when data is not available over gprs
I think your cell is currently using a wap access point...try switching it back to gprs one...
Like here in my bsnl
bsnllive is for wap &
bsnlnet is for gprs....
Press thanks if thos helped....

Hi,
I own a sgs2 running the latest CM10 rom by codeworks.
My phone all worked fine until 1 week ago, when out of the blue I lost 3G connection. I still run Edge just fine.
I run on the giffgaff network in the UK. I checked all my APN settings 5000 times, played around with them, resetted them, doesn't help.
There is no coverage issue in my area (I traveled around London anyway). I have the right plan.
I used someone else's SIM card with a data plan, it didn't help either.
I flashed a different modem (LPS), didn't help.
I google'd a bunch of stuff that didn't help at all basically.
I would understand if I didn't have any data connection at all, but I can get Edge just fine and browse the internet/download, it's just painfully slow.
Does anyone have an idea about how to fix my issue? I'll literarily take every piece of advice right now.
Thanks,
Gary

Solution:
1. Goto Settings
2. Under wireless & network, select more
3. Select mobile networks
4. Disable data connection, wait for 5mins
5. Uncheck use only 2G networks
6. Enable data connection
Problem should be solved now
Swyped from my Galaxy SII

Woah amazing. I didn't think waiting 5 mins would change a thing, but it did. Works now, thanks so much.
