Got the USCC version, wondering which names it aligns with concerning accessories, ie batteries, covers, etc.. there seems to be umpteen different versions between both CDMA and GSM.. Verizon and Sprint CDMA different? USCC CDMA??
Any help which path to follow so I don't spend too much time thinking I have the wrong one?
Thanks.
I just saw my friend with this phone personally today and it lloks exactly like my sprint touch pro. so im saying its safe to buy any sprint or altell accesories as the verizon is more boxy and so is the fuze or gsm one.
Thanks! Hope mine arrives tomorrow!
Holy Range of Phones Batman!
I see Touch Pro, Raphael, Raphael 100, Raphael 101, Raphael 800, Raphael GSM, Fuze... ugh... I just want to buy a bigger battery!!!!!!!!
Sprint and Alltel TP accessories will work fine, it's the same phone. The big difference is GSM vs CDMA (diferent design) and Verizon vs every other CDMA.
I was admiring things over at Seidio's site but not enough to pull the credit card out yet.
I have had the g1 for some time now and its gettin pretty rough around the edges. I was wondering if it was possible to get a Hero in the U.S. and what service it would work under? thanks !
it would work under any GSM Carrier in the US! However 3G will not work on any carrier just edge...Have you tried ebay, ill sell you mine if you want! One week old.
you can buy it off expansys usa
http://www.expansys-usa.com/d.aspx?i=184575
however as you can see under the description it says "US 3G Data: No"
AT&T 3g
Looking into upgrading my at&t 8525 tytn which is due for an upgrade (close to getting an iphone 3gs 'til I found HERO). Any update or news on another release that would work in 3g?
I've spent hours searching ebay, amazon, expansys, etc. all of them only run HSDPA/UMTS 900 2100.
Is there an app to add 1900 for it to run on AT&T 3g or is that a ROM or hardware issue?
Thanks in advance.

You can't magically add 1900 to it, it's a hardware thing. The Euro versions have 2100, so the best you're going to get is EDGE on AT&T or T-Mo USA. You'd think that the UNLOCKED model would be at least 1900/2100 HSDPA or something!!!
The Sprint-bound CDMA version is..well...CDMA, so not compatible with AT&T as well.
man, that sucks. is att usa the only country using 1900? that's another sucky one

Nope Rogers/Fido in Canada the only GSM provider here has the same Frequencies as AT&T.
just baught a unlock hero today, and i love it... you dont need 3g... =]
As I can understand the xt910 in Europe doesn't have 4g but is this just hardware that's not being used. And will it be active with a update
I ask because the us version has 4g lte is it a totally different phone.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA
Even if they activated the latent LTE chip, its supported frequency would be useless in Europe.

Just wondering as ipad 4g is same world wide is it not

I think you'd need dual band for a phone to be able to use both. Correct me if i am wrong

Most certainly not. LTE is far from having worldwide standard bands, and it currently looks like the closest to a standard will be 1800mhz rather than the 700mhz Verizon uses.
Have a look for the wonderful marketing blunder Apple made by selling the iPad as a 4G device in Australia where the only LTE network is Telstra's on 1800mhz.
There's also issues like TD-LTE vs. the other standard I forget the name of right now.

2,5Ghz LTE will be used in Brazil because 700Mhz frequency is dedicated for TV broadcasting. Experts says 700Mhz is better because uses less antennas and are more compatible with actual devices, like vrz ones. Hope they change their minds in time. :/

Hello
I have a question that has been bothering me and I cant figure out the answer. As I am a noob I have not yet gained the knowledge to understand where most of these tutorials that i have found online are starting at. My question is "How do I port a CDMA rom to GSM".
I am trying to get the Droid Razr Eclipse rom which is a CDMA rom, to work on my GSM phone. I also would like to be able to make some small adjustments to the rom as well. Like for example. On the stock rom for the droid razr I have the ability to control my music from the lock screen however on this rom, the eclipse rom, I cant do that I must unlock the phone, and then change the song, which is a hassle if i i am driving or playing video games. I also would like to be able to change the look of the calender app that comes with this rom. because I feel that is a bit too bulky for my taste. Other than those three problems the rom is great.
I hope I am not offending the creator of this rom by asking how i can change things in it please forgive me. However thats all I would like to change other than that the rom is great.
I would be greatly appreciated if I can receive an answer asap
Thank you,
The Noob ejay010

Indeed it is. Got mine a few days back, love it.
Thinking of a second one, trying to decide whether to get it, or go for the Sony version, which Expansys has for $10 more.

They only sell the North American model (C6806) in the GPe version there, the other models won't work on all the bands in the US.

Thanks, that's good info. I didn't realize the Sony versions there weren't North American models.
Wait TV a seek I thought that the Sony version was the lte version I don't want the gpe version from what I've been viewing that version has a few issues that the Sony version doesn't.

Read up and search on here. Both c6806 and c6833 are lte. Gpe is a c6806

To make this clear for people here in the US.
C6806 is the North America version with the LTE/GSM bands needed for USA.
The C6806 comes in two versions
1) GPe - http://www.expansys-usa.com/sony-z-ultra-google-play-edition-unlocked-lte-16gb-black-263504/
2) non-GPe - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875212288
Make your choice.
Wont the c6833 work on any carrier except t-mobile? Not in the US so have not really looked at it.

It will work on T-Mobile and AT&T for GSM talk and 3G data.
It will also work on T-Mobile for LTE for their 1700/2100 bands and the 1900 refarming.
It does not work on AT&T's 700 Mhz LTE, their main LTE band.
Neither will work on T-Mobile's future band 29 - 700 Mhz Lower D and E
Different countries use different bands, which sucks.
C6833
LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1800 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600
C6806
LTE 700 / 850 / 900/ 1700 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600
Grab the Sony Xperia Z Ultra
Follow the link and I think you'll agree that the Sony Xperia Z Ultra IS the way to go!
http://www.theverge.com/2013/12/20/5229978/sony-xperia-z-ultra-z-ultra-google-play-edition-review
Other than that, especially as of late, ROM support is getting way better. Actually I think this is the best it's ever been since it's release! I've had my C6833 since 10/01/2013 - right after launch and I've been getting LTE from Straight Talk over AT&T network from day one. Don't let anyone tell you if you decide to grab C6833 that you won't be able to get 4G LTE or the upcoming XLTE. The C6833 is compatible with XLTE and is XLTE ready.
If your worried about having no flash for taking pictures there are 2 solutions. Something called iBlazr remedies the lack of a physical camera flash. What many don't know or simply don't want to acknowledge is this beast does in fact decent low light pix! But I didn't purchase this for taking pictures anyway so it's not an issue for me.
Check out the article by The Verge it's pretty much spot on for everything except for one sticking point. YOU CAN FIT THIS BEST INTO FRONT PANTS POCKETS. PERIOD. I do it everyday. The one thing I'd want to know though is what kind of idiot would put this beast in their back pocket anyway? They'd be begging for trouble no matter what device they chose and probably deserve their damaging their device anyhoo.

XLTE is a Verizon Wireless sales product. Not sure how this phone will work on it, maybe in data mode only on VZW?
Avoid the C6833 if you live in the US, no reason to get it when a better version is available.
AT&T mainly offers LTE on their 700 Mhz band.

I have the C6806 from newegg. So far so good on AT&T's LTE network. If in the US go with the C6806.

AT&T has LTE on multiple bands 700 MHz, 1700/2100 Mhz, 1900 Mhz, 850 Mhz
If people want to use LTE in the most places, a phone with 700 Mhz is required as its the most commonly used one by them.
The lower frequency will provide service in buildings where higher frequencies don't where they have multiple bands in the same location.
I picked one up too from Expansys. I have no idea why I bought it except for the fact that its almost half the price and its a GPe phone. So far in a day I have found the speaker to be not loud enough (its not silent but its not loud enough for me), its too big and I am really having a hard time to figure out how to carry it. Battery life is still settling in so can't say if its good or bad. How do you guys carry this phone in jeans pocket? I am 527 Levi person and there is no way I could fit this thing in the front pocket.

I agree, the speaker is pretty poor.
I carry it in my front jeans pocket no problem, tall jeans.

I, too, got one from expansys about a week ago and is still getting use to use it as my daily driver. the screen res is great and the performance is awesome. I agree the speaker's volume is way too low, but that's something that i can live with. My only concern is the lack of support for the GPe model. Kind of make me wish i bought the Sony version instead.
But overall i am happy with it and it somewhat fits in my jeans front pocket, albeit it makes sitting down very uncomfortable. Though, since I live in so cal i just wear shorts and sandals on most weekends, so i guess i can also live with the size of this beast.

If Google will update GPE devices to 'L' release than they are probably better than Sony versions. Not sure if Sony will keep updating a fringe device for 'L' versions of android.

Google Play edition devices
Updates to Google Play edition devices are managed by the device manufacturers, not by Google. Google works closely with the manufacturers to provide system updates shortly after a new version is released. Once an update is available, it can take up to two weeks for it to reach your device.
Devices may not receive the latest version of Android if they fall outside of the update window, traditionally around 18 months after a device release.
