Hi all,
I have previously managed to flash ROM's without any problems, but am trying to load the villainrom beta but cant get into the boot menu. All i have is an exclamation mark inside a white triangle and a picture of a phone beneath it.
Any ideas?
sounds like the recovery image has been currupted or replace boot back the phone OS and then flash ramons flash image again

Hello,
I rooted and enabled phone on flyer following instructions, great!
Now I want to get back to stock recovery (removing clockworkmod), mainly because I cannot perform an OTA upgrade as when it reboots it shows a triangle with exclamation mark..
So I found code to push recovery image somewhere searching, is there a stock recovery image available from someone?
I cannot seem to find it.
Thanks!
I have been trying to get my rooted Galaxy Nexus to load the CWM Touch recovery image, and I just can't seem to get it to stick. I originally just tried to install the basic non-touch version from Rom Manager. When it rebooted, I got the red ! and a dead robot. So I booted into fast boot, and flashed the touch recovery. After flashing if I go straight to recovery, I do get the CWM recovery and can backup. My problem is that if I the reboot the phone, I can never get back to it again. I always end up at the red ! and a dead robot.
I read on another thread to rename the file "/recovery-from-boot.p" to "recovery-from-boot.p-bak" and that it might require reflashing the image. I moved this file and re-named it, reflashed, booted into android. Then powered off and booted into recover mode, just to see the red ! again.
It seems that when I first flash I can go into it, but anytime after that it just dies. Anyone have a deeper knowledge of what is going on here and care to point me in the right direction? I could probably just go ahead and flash a new image to the phone but I don't feel good doing that while the recovery image seems to need re-imaging every time.
Hi there,
You're correct, you need to rename/delete that file to make cwm stick on the nexus.
If you reboot the phone before removing that file, the file will update your settings to point to the old recovery instead of cwm.
Since you've just renamed it, reinstalling cwm should do the trick.
You're renaming the wrong file. You need to rename or delete install-recovery.sh from system/ect
Edit: This was solved by reflashing cf-root, which restored both recovery and cache to safe versions. Now I need to boot into recovery with Home+VolumeUp+Power and restore a backup.
I was flashing and testing new versions of clockwork recovery (using Heimdall, not Odin). Now the phone is stuck on the boot screen (it doesn't play the audio or get to the boot animation). I can still boot into download mode, but I can't boot to recovery. I've flashed other versions of recovery, including versions that I know are good. I've pulled the battery. What can I do to get my phone back? I don't think I've done anything besides back up the system and flash a new recovery image!
Anybody know what to do? Next thing I can think of is flashing CF-root again, but that seems dangerous if there might be a better way.
Thanks!
Hi,
I've rooted my device via ODIN (it works fine) & then I wanted to install CMW to be able to install the latest Mokee KK
Unfortunatelly I've checked bootloader & selected the zip file of CWM-KitKatCompatible-i9100 ... and clicked start. Yes I know never flash a phone when you're tired ...
Then my phone never wanted to reboot in the previous OS and got stucked on the boot screen + a yellow triangle
I've tried to flash CWM (it worked) & I've boot into recovery (installed KK + Gapps) ==> OK
BUT now every time my phone boots it is showing the yellow triangle.
My quesiton is : what can I do? Is it a real problem now after having managed to install a custom rom?
flashing anything from odin besides official stock roms, will increase your flash counter,
hence the yellow triangle. its normal but you could use Triangle Away by Chainfire in Original Android Development, to remove the yellow triangle
where do i get bootloader for kitkat 4.4.4?
Hey guys I need some help. I have a Verizon Galaxy S4 with NK1. I rooted it by flashing back to NC5 and then rooting then flashing back to NK1, that part worked perfectly fine. I then wanted to install a recovery so I used the CWM app and thats where things went wrong. After doing so it said it did it successfully but when I clicked boot into recovery so I can install CM12 it did not boot into recovery it instead booted straight to the Odin screen with the Android logo in the middle and below it saying "Downloading", and also has the text in the top left corner.
I am hoping someone has an answer on how to fix this.
Thanks!
Also to add onto that I am able to boot up my phone normally its not that its stuck in a boot loop where I can't get past that point. It only happens when I try to go into recovery mode that it take me to the Odin screen. When I do the steps for booting into Recovery it shows the samsung logo and then the blue text that usually comes up in the top left corner flashes for a millisecond and then the screen transitions to the Odin screen
No cm based roms & only safestrap for custom recovery. Spend some time reading what you can & can't do to your phone

Is there any other way I can factory reset my phone and wipe it completely because I can't go into recovery mode.
Have you installed safestrap?

Yessir I installed it, what would be the next step?
Read how to use it. If you installed the recovery (not just the apk), reboot your phone and you'll see the screen and directions how to enter ss recovery.
From there you'll be able to wipe your phone.
Not sure how it'll work with you trying to install cwm. If this doesn't work, odin'ing back to stock and starting over might be your next option (unless someone else can suggest something)
Aslo, if you're stuck in that boot, you can pull the battery,
then hold the volume down, home and power to get the the download screen,
choose restart the phone
this worked for me when I was in a boot loop
This won't fix your recovery mode issue though, but you'll be able to use your phone in the mean time
