Developers! please create a service to guide noobs - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello to all developers out there with a sense of business
I want to draw your attention to a segment of hero users like myself who would be prepared to pay a small fee to get individual guidance by skype for example, to root their hero and release the hidden powers of the phone.
I **** in my pants thinking of doing it myself, not to mention i have no time to learn from forums, having to run another business of my own.
This service i belive would be highly appreciated by zillions.
I am waiting on stock 1.5 official good version since october, i will get official 2.1 in two weeks and then i am in deep ****:
- i can not buy applications since i live in Romania
- i therefore can not back-up
- how can i then do the htc official update
- then how can i root because i think this will be the last update we get for the hero, and i want payed apps before somebody decides a EU country of 22million should be treated equaly
I want proffessional help from somebody like you to guide me like a baby step by step what to do online so i can't possibly make a mistake and ruine the device.
I don't want to know the insides of this phone, i just want the benefits of rooting after 2.1

Hello,
Give me a PM and I'll guide you.
I'm from Romania too.
Cheers!

Me too! I got the same opinion as sorinexu and the same situation same country

WM2005 etc. Newbie Questions

Hi,
I'm the proud owner of a T-Mobile MDA II with vga camera. Half an hour ago I happend to find this interesting forum.
What is this Windows Mobile 2005? I've never heard of it. I searched the Microsoft website, but I didn't find anything.
I have no idea which OS is installed on my MDA... the ROM version is 1.72.01GER (in case that helps).
So... in case I want to upgrade my MDA.... what do I have to do, where do I get the files from etc. And, what is this upgrade all about? Is it a totally new OS, or what is it? I have no idea
Thanks for your help
Bye

Hi Bauer,
I too am a newbee. Just joined this forum about a month ago. If I may give you a clue ( though I'm not an expert in it), the Windows Mobile 2005 is supposed to be the next mobile phone OS from Microsoft. It is said to have many more user-friendly features than the one you are currently using. However it has not yet been officialy released in the market (I even doubt if its ready yet). But thanks to our great Buzz Lightyear (http://buzzdev.net) we are fortunate to get the taste of the new promised features. Buzz had managed to create his own version of the said OS and named it the Magneto. Why don't you try to drill further into other area of this forum or go to http://buzzdev.net. I'm sure you'll get the idea, and as it happened to me I'm sure you'll like it too. Good Luck.
Hi again Bauer,
Regarding the question as to where to get ROM upgrade, you can try this link http://www.buzzdev.net/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_download&gid=124&Itemid=32 to get the copy of the new ROM upgrade. However you are supposed to register yourself first to be able to access the link. There (and in this forum too) you will get a clear description & instruction for the ROM upgrade.
I would also like to get this opportunity to apologize to the forum (especially to Buzz and the development team) for not being polite enough to say 'thank you' for all the work you've done. I've had no significant problem with either the upgrading process or the tweaking around with both hardware and software (incl. 3rd parties). Everything works fine with my machine since day one I did the upgrade. I love the work. Thank you all, and have a nice day.
Hi Bauer,
Spend time reading the wiki site too which will provide you with a lot of background about your new toy and the sort of things you can tweak/ develop or pick up that others have done.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/
Also learn to use the search function of this website as you can find most of the answers for yourself without relying upon good folk to give the same advice to the next newbee in the queue asking the same questions ('nuff said, we've all been newbees at sometime).
Once you've read relevant parts of the wiki and are comfortable that you want to risk changing your ROM (there are numerous pitfalls you risk (e.g. warrantee invalidation) and ultimately totally killing your machine if you have two left feet/ power surge/ massive bad luck etc) search these forums will educate you to the experiences of others developing/ beta testing/ exploring. Buzz's versions of WM5 are narrated a:

Remember to pay due homage to all his hard work.
Beyond that enjoy.

Help upgrading ROM on TyTN from France!

Hi, I first want to start by saying I have read through the entire Hermes wiki and have followed the website for about the past year, through my 8125 and now on to my 8525. Thus, I have done the necessary research but now just have a couple of questions that are best answered by the community. I apologize if I did not find a thread out there that answered this particular question, but I assure you that I tried to look for one. ANYWAY....
A couple of weeks ago my father purchased a HTC TyTN in France, I suppose, from my recommendations for my 8525. He is originally from overseas, grew up there, and has fluently spoken French his entire life, but English is the language with which he is comfortable as far as computers and phones go. Although he loves the phone, his one problem is the fact that everything is in French. He says that he can sort of navigate around but claims that most of the translation is not great, and, in addition, it is hard for me to help him out when things are called different things between our two phones.
Basically, my question is what do I have to do to make his phone in English? I am assuming that his phone is the HTC TyTN and, from looking on the ROM upgrading page, that his ROM is currently the "1.18.256.2 FRA." I know that I will have to upgrade his ROM, but which is the best, most stable one that I should upgrade his phone to? Or, is there officially released ROM's that HTC releases for TyTN users who buy their phone overseas but would prefer an operating system in English, or another language?
Again, I am sure someone will say "Read the wiki before you post something like this," but it is my father's phone (which he paid $600 for there!!) and I want to be sure I know what I am doing when I do it, rather than the way I can just play around with my 8525.
I thank everyone in advance for reading my post and for any help that anyone can provide; a mere recommendation of a ROM to any helpful suggestions would be more than appreciated! Thank you so much again, and thanks to everyone who keeps this place such a valuable community for those seeking help and, of course, those eternally seeking ways to make their phones cooler than that of the person's next to them!
Sincerely,
Brandon
Without going into a discussion on which ROM is "better" and what criteria should be used the decide the "betterness" of a particular ROM, the easiest option is to install the WWE edition of the same ROM version you have installed already.
You will need to either make the phone SuperCID, or better, use the new SSPL method.

[Q] Will there be HSPL available for TITAN II in future or no hopes on it

Hello everybody I'm a Titan II user. I wanna know if there will be HSPL and custom roms available in future or else I wanna get rid of my Titan II cause I'm not sure there would be 7.8 or WP8 update in future. So please friends or developers please provide us some information which is Gold to the TItan II user
Depends.
DFT can make an HSPL and custom rom (but they probably won't)
Here is what you need to do to make this work:
Make a thread with a name like: [BOUNTY] HSPL and First Custom Rom HTC Titan II (Radiant)
In the thread you say that you'll pay $ 30 via paypal (I'm just giving advice, you don't need to do this)
Kinda like this
[BOUNTY] HSPL and First Custom Rom HTC Titan II (Radiant)
Hi developers,
my name is yourname and I have the AT&T HTC Titan II
I really want an HSPL and one (or more) custom rom('s) for my phone.
I am asking this especially to DFT because they did this already for the HTC Titan I.
I want this really bad, and I think I am not the only one that wants that. That's why I am willing to pay $ 30 via PayPal.
If you want this too, please help me with making enough money to let DFT (or others) make this happen (quickly)
Thanks
sianto has the right idea - at least that will add a little impetus to the efforts to crack the Titan II.
Remember that each and every time a new phone comes out, some people say the exact same things you guys do, some say the new security is unbreakable, some say they're going to dump the phone if no-one comes out with an unlock, some say all kinds of things.
Most of us just sit quietly and wait, or maybe we try to help a little by looking out for useful tools or codes. Maybe we offer a little cash to prod things along. Ultimately, the phone is hacked, unlocked, and custom ROMs start appearing.
So, the moral of my story is BE PATIENT!

Same for me !
Guys with Titan 2 start a bounty thread separate. or OP just change the title and first post of this thread and start adding the total bounty offers other members are happy to offer.
We reached a bounty of £900+ before we got even noticed.
The reason is not being that devs want money, but it takes a substantial time and money as you can understand to get hands on a Titan 2 and then work on HSPL + custom ROM. Bounty will help devs to consider the option to invest time and money.
Esp with new devices around the corner it is even harder as you can imagine to keep developing for older devices. They might as well move on to WP8.
.
I´m in, happy to donate to have it!
Let me know by PM if you need any Mod help on this

So where are we standing on the Titan 2 HSPL availability? I am brand new to Titan line coming from HD2 and despite having my device unlocked I feel pretty locked down with the AT&T splash screen and limited flexibility as far as XAP deployment goes etc. I'd also could donate despite being financially challenged (hence the Titan and not new WP8 line up ). Pls, let me know if I could contribute in any way.
Best,
LuckTR
I read that some guys need some help on getting a titan 2 to cottula guys where are you?, what do you need to get that done.
We need the hspl.
I was lucky enough to be at the BBQ and I talked to orb3000 about the recent effort to get a Titan2 to Cotulla and he may be able to help with that.

That's Good News indeed...at least for us who pulled the trigger on amazing Titan 2 released under such unfortunate circumstances (AT&T)
Really appreciate the update, mate. Waiting for further direction or even better news about successful HSPL implementation :fingers-crossed:

Hey, mate. Being a fairly new user of unlocked Titan 2 on T-Mobile I am quite unaware of HSPL bug on original Titan. I'd love to help, but I don't have any means of reaching Cotulla in any better way than you...I'd say PM his username and hope for the best
Best,
LuckTR.

Please help me get this thing upgraded

Howdy,
So, I have a Toshiba AT200 tablet that uses android 4.0.3 and I'm disabled currently jumping through all the hoops for SSI. In the meantime I been using the usertesting app to make enough money to cover my rent & internet barely. Trouble is, they just discontinued support for android versions older than 5.0 so I need to upgrade it to android 5 or 6. Since I have no real clue how to do much of anything on android other than install and run stuff from the play store, I called Toshiba for help and was told that they don't offer a manufacturer update to higher android versions but that I could easily google an unofficial one that is completely legal.
Well, after the last 5 hours of trying, 3 system crashes, 21 removals of trojans by windows defender and malwarebytes, and I-have-no-idea how many 'surveys' & 'offers' completions trying to unlock downloads; I STILL don't have a working upgrade.
PLEASE help me! I need this done to continue earning enough money to pay my rent & internet.
Thanks,
Robert
that's a copy that I posted two weeks ago in the assist forums and never got a response till today telling me to put it here. I've done more searching since first posting, but still haven't found anything working (and ended up with some gomail.ru hijacker thing which I've tried repeatedly to remove but can't seem to fully get rid of it) so please help ASAP! two weeks is way too long to not make any income... I'm prolly gonna be late for internet this month.
Thanks,
Robert
Why won't anyone help me? Is it unclear what device it is? AT200 is what it lists in the 'about' section in the tablet settings menu, but what it shows up as when I put the serial number into the Toshiba website is Excite AT205-T16I
I still need help with this thing PLEASE! am I still asking in the wrong place?
As I know, the upgrade of androi up to your device. If It announce to upgrade, it means that you can do it. If not, you can't
What? I'm sorry but I don't understand what you tried to say. The Toshiba rep told me to google 'toshiba at200 custom rom lollipop' though I really don't know what that means... and I've tried multiple times but always end up with either a bunch of malware to get rid of or one of those 'complete survey or offer to unlock download' things which never work. I found a site with pretty understandable instructions on how to complete the upgrade and got some kinda rooting tool, but it doesn't help me without having this 'apk rom' that it talks about and doesn't give any links on the instruction page.
Regrettably, there aren't any options to update your device. There are 2 ways to upgrade, either via updates put out by the manufacturer, or via a custom version of android (referred to as a "rom") that is compiled from a source code such as the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) or CyanogenMod (CM). For devices that didn't sell well or weren't of significant interest to the developer community, custom updates aren't usually an option as it takes a considerable amount of time and skill to update a device beyond what the manufacturer puts out due to differences in the system as well as drivers on newer versions of android.

Clone an android install without root

Hello guys
First excuses for my bad english
Let me introduce myself, i'm a 56 years old developper, now working in an charity association, who want to sell to old persons or visually impaired persons android phones with a simplified interface and some presinstalled softs (skype, ...), and at of course really low price...
My project is to made tests with a first cheap phone i bought last week at the supermarket (Brand echo, used for testing, but i would prefer using some more known brand to "reassure" my customers), with installed Koala launcher and some other really simple softs, and to clone my phone, for install new phones without having to do the same things X time. What i've done seems to work properly on the first phone, and my father, 84 years old will be my first tester...
Searched a lot on the internet, but i don't find any way to clone a phone without rooting, and rooted phones and warranty... you understand what i mean
So my question is: Is it possible to clone and duplicate a complete phone without rooting? I'm used with Linux but not with Android... Or maybe it's possible to "unroot" a phone after rooting and cloning?
Thanks in advance for any idea, even with paid software
