Clone an android install without root - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys
First excuses for my bad english
Let me introduce myself, i'm a 56 years old developper, now working in an charity association, who want to sell to old persons or visually impaired persons android phones with a simplified interface and some presinstalled softs (skype, ...), and at of course really low price...
My project is to made tests with a first cheap phone i bought last week at the supermarket (Brand echo, used for testing, but i would prefer using some more known brand to "reassure" my customers), with installed Koala launcher and some other really simple softs, and to clone my phone, for install new phones without having to do the same things X time. What i've done seems to work properly on the first phone, and my father, 84 years old will be my first tester...
Searched a lot on the internet, but i don't find any way to clone a phone without rooting, and rooted phones and warranty... you understand what i mean
So my question is: Is it possible to clone and duplicate a complete phone without rooting? I'm used with Linux but not with Android... Or maybe it's possible to "unroot" a phone after rooting and cloning?
Thanks in advance for any idea, even with paid software

Developers! please create a service to guide noobs

Hello to all developers out there with a sense of business
I want to draw your attention to a segment of hero users like myself who would be prepared to pay a small fee to get individual guidance by skype for example, to root their hero and release the hidden powers of the phone.
I **** in my pants thinking of doing it myself, not to mention i have no time to learn from forums, having to run another business of my own.
This service i belive would be highly appreciated by zillions.
I am waiting on stock 1.5 official good version since october, i will get official 2.1 in two weeks and then i am in deep ****:
- i can not buy applications since i live in Romania
- i therefore can not back-up
- how can i then do the htc official update
- then how can i root because i think this will be the last update we get for the hero, and i want payed apps before somebody decides a EU country of 22million should be treated equaly
I want proffessional help from somebody like you to guide me like a baby step by step what to do online so i can't possibly make a mistake and ruine the device.
I don't want to know the insides of this phone, i just want the benefits of rooting after 2.1
Hello,
Give me a PM and I'll guide you.
I'm from Romania too.
Cheers!
Me too! I got the same opinion as sorinexu and the same situation same country

Why would you want to do such an awful thing? our x10s have feelings, you know? don't take android away from them!
I can't understand why you buyed this phone if you didn't like its OS...........Don't talk silly........if you don't like it pls simply switch to another phone!!!!
I think out if curiosity i'd love to see this question answered... although i can't imagin abandoning the A-OS for anything currently available
P.s. this is only my "OPINION" but currently;
Technically; possible, our hardware meets the basic specs.
Physically; highly improbable due to a currently unhackable bootloader
Sent from my E10i using XDA App
Just corious beacuse S60 was easier and i love sony ericsson thats why i got this one
its cute but i feel its to hard to do some stuff.
*SPOILERS*
Hi i had an sony ericsson w600 when was younger; 14 or 15 though
i love it especially the VideoDJ app then i got a nokia 5800 when i was 17
i loved that phone was awesome and so cuztumizable was currently running C6 Firmware on it but the maid stole it i know the other one told me she has
NVM.
my dad was asking me if i wanted a new cellphone i told no dad idk really liked my nokia there was much stuff on it like: Feelings, Adventures, goodf time. and software related stuff also.
then i lost the hope of finding it and blocked it with a remote code
And i looked at a little pretty cellphone on a shelf and it remind me my old W600
i though oh that one would be nie so i got it.
*END*
dont missunderstand me i like my cellphone but is just that i miss stuff that i was able to do on my 5800 as well as video and photo edition tools that were present on w600
You Could... providing someone develops a working HAL so the software could communicate with the hardware!
Unfortunately, this doesn't exist and it is such a big job that manufacturers won't do it as they only seem to focus on one OS per device at a time (And then neglect to update it - No 2.2 for me)
So basically, whilst is is possible it is very improbable (Notice that I never said never!) LOL
Dude, have you ever launched the android market? Do you know how many photo and video apps you can find there?
Sent from my E10i using XDA App
Bro I did but those app are too buggy also internet is very slow I think bcause I cant get 3G (same data plan on other phone works fine)
Also I cant pause video recording wich is usefull 4 square by square animation.
And sorry I cant just dish my phone and buy a ndw one congratulations for those who can.
Can somebody point me to specific apps or rom
That could fill my needs
And deano thanks for the ROMS are wonderfull but im still being a newb
I think you didn't check out the right apps. I'm sure you'll find the right applications for you in there : there are close to 300000 applications in the market. For editing pictures, you have Photoshop express and hundreds more, for videos you have a whole bunch. If you can't get your 3G working, you should check with someone from your mobile company to configure your phone right : 3G works fine with the mini.
Finally, if you don't like this phone, you can sell it on eBay at a good price. Also, sorry to tell you this, but nowadays you'll find this same OS (Android) on most SE phones, Motorolla, LG, HTC, Samsung, etc... So you better get used to using it, unless you want to buy yourself an iPhone or a BlackBerry.
or just stick with Nokia.. good old Symbian (the reason I switched to SE from Nokia was because I wanted Android and Nokia refuses to see the light)
Why anyone would choose Symbian over Android is beyond my understanding.. but each to his own I guess.
Naaah im loving it nao but i need some guidance with root explorer
i mean if i rename an app as bak it will work on background but not all of them so waht can i do for hidng apps and they will fully function

Just got a lumia 800

Right, never owned a windows mobile in my life, Im an android person, but Ive just bought a nokia lumia 800. The phone is a few months old but its in decent condition for its age. What can i do with this phone OR do to it (without screwing it up). I know the lumia 710 can be jailbroken (hate that terminology, jailbreaking is for ios devices). can the same be acheived with the lumia 800?? I guess i should do a search. Easy to do or a ball ache? Im still going to stick with my htc sensation but its handy to know this stuff and where better place to find the experts than on xda forums :highfive:
Any help and advice will be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance
Edit.................Ive just found what Im looking for thanks
Please can a mod lock or delete this post. Thanks

hi nice to see another lumia fan well it goes somthing like this
if your lumia has a qualcomm bootloader your free to install the custom rom in the dev thread on here but as i have found your phone might be on 7.35.0.0 and come up as qualcomm device but if you dont have access to the nand (in windows it would come up as a flash disc) then your pretty much stuck with stock roms and stock apps untill the dload bootloader is cracked. have a read in the dev forum there quite bit of info to get you started

Yes, no better mobile phone operating system in my book. I couldnt turn down the chance of the lumia because it was cheap. And a change is as good as a rest so the saying goes

Tip for when you need the phone to last longer (like weekend visits etc.)
Sync and mobile data is a huge battey drain. Disable mobile data and it the phone will last for days.
My advice is go slow..
With Android, most of the stock google applications like gmail were garbage so you had to go to the marketplace to find better versions.
Also, you have to root Android phones to get rid of crapware installed by carriers.
With WP7 and the Lumia..
Like iPhone, all the stock applications are excellent quality. The Mail program for instance is second to none; I don't even have any supplemental programs to it..
Also, while the Lumia will come with carrier crapware, you have probably already found out you can simply longpress and delete these with out jailbreaking or rooting. I understand this was a rule Microsoft imposed on all carrier programs to create another selling point for WP7..
So the only reason you would need to unlock would be to install homebrew applications, custom roms, or simply dicker around with the phone. All of which are fun to do but unnecessary.
In short, I found with Android (I had a Samsung Vibrant), you HAVE to unlock and Root just to have a good quality system. With WP7, you don't - the phone is good out of the gate and you only need to Root & jailbreak to do some higher level experimenting.
Good luck - hope you enjoy the phone!
What should I do?

Hello,
I have some carrier crapware into my Lumia 800 - it doesn`t let me to use another SIM card but the provider`s (it`s locked on Bouygues Telecom - France) And I was wondering if a NOOB`s guide to interop unlock my phone exists. Thanks.
Android convert
My first visit to the lumia 800 forums and I am in the same boat as the op.
I've been an android fanboy for several years (htc desire, samsung galaxy s, htc sensation, htc one x, acer iconica a500) and have found myself obsessed to the point of addiction. Yesterday, I bit the bullitt, put my one x on e-bay and ordered a network un-locked lumia 800 to be delivered today.
I would like advice on how to unlock the full potential of my device and will be reading this forum very carefully before I do anything risky but, before I start, could somebody possibly advise as to wether there is anything that is important to address before and during my initial set-up?
Hopefully I will not become too obsessed with my new venture and any informed advice would be much appreciated to a windows phone noob
ps Had a windows mobile 6.5 device a few years ago
Ive left the Lumia 800 as it is. I wanted to jailbreak it as I wanted to install a specific gps app, which I have on my androids but do you know what?? Nokia Drive is really really very good imo. Im happy with it as it is. The interface took me some getting used to though but thats just me. I will probably end up jailbreaking it in the end as this is what Im like, but for now, its ace

First few hours on the device and loving it. Couldn't sync google contacts which was really bothering me but did an update whilst searching for a solution and the update had solved the problem!
Would love to 'jailbreak' it (like to mess) but, rightly or wrongly, I am getting the impression that it's not possible on this. Any ideas how to do this? Is it like root access.
It's all very different to android but makes a great change so I think I'll be staying with this little beauty for some time.

[Q] Help with a Chinese phone...?

Hello
First of all apologies if I am listing this new thread in the wrong place, I am fairly new to the forum!
Secondly, I have read that many people do not much like the Chinese phones, but I was looking for a decent spec, cheap phone for my 13 year old son, so that I would not care too much when he stands on it while playing sports at school, or it get 'misplaced'/lost/stolen by some other 13 year old, or if he simply abuses it to hell and so this iBOLD X-U 4.7" (1280x720) quad core phone just fitted the bill.
So I bought one and out of the box it looks and operates as expected, other than... the dreaded Chinese apps! Most of the apps are English/in English, but it has some in Chinese, one of which I believe is something to do with the rooting of the phone (does "com.mgyun.shua.su" mean anything to anyone?). I am also unable to find a custom ROM for it, or any instructions on how to get round to do this...
The main question is, how do I get to a UK/English only ROM/Software/Setup/Menus & Messages for this phone please, to at least get to Google store only apps? Am I asking too much and is this possible (on a Chinese phone) please? If I can flash it up from the 4.2.2 version it reports to be loaded with, to something like KitKat it would be brilliant!
Apologies for the relative inexperience, I do build normal PC's and write some code, just never not got round to changing anything on an Android phone (or worked with Linux type software!) as yet, so any help/advice welcome!
Many thanks
Assuming you are rooted and have a custom recovery, otherwise this is not possible via recovery.
If that's the case, extract your zip and make sure you install the proper DPI, all that is done automatically if you can flash a zip.
This is 5.0 gapps, KitKat linked in the op.
