Instructions
-------------
1. connect your MEGA with your PC by USB cable and boot into Windows Mobile
2. wait until ActiveSync is ready (icon green)
3. run "flash-hardspl.bat" to flash the HardSPL. It will create a backup of your current SPL
(called "spl-backup.bin") and creates a file "check.bin" in subdirectory "1" (for diagnostic purposes)
4. the phone will be rebooted automatically
5. you can now flash any cooked or original rom, splash screen or radio rom
6. use the attached custom RUU (rom) flasher to flash roms or rom components
Notes
-------
- if your device is application locked the batch file will run with errors. To app unlock your device
Download PHM Registry Editor - v0.70 from here:
http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php?soft=31
Copy it to your device and execute it.
Modify this registry key:
HKLM/Security/Policies/Policies/0000101B if set to dword:2, change it to dword:1
Reset using power button and try again.
- the HardSPL is based on the SPL v1.28.0000 (PB74, Shipped) for MEGA with modelID PB74100 (check your modelID in battery compartment)
- a quick verification for correct installation is to boot into SPL tri-colour bootloader screen (keep volume down pressed while you turn on or reset). In the top-left corner it should display "1.28.Hard"
- to flash back the stock SPL 1.28.0000 run "flash-stock-1.28.0000.bat"
- to flash your original SPL run "flash-your-backup.bat"
- if the installation fails try again on another PC and make sure you logged in as administrator or as user with administrator rights. Alternatively run flash-hardspl.bat as administrator. If it still doesn't work look up this registry key in the phone:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\EXT_FLASHDRV]
Change the value "Dll" from "OEM_FLASHDRV.dll" to "OEM_FLASHDRVXXX.dll" and reboot the device. After rebooting into WM and after activesync is ready run flash-hardspl.bat . Check in tricolour bootloader screen if it is installed and then boot again into WM and change the registry value back to its old value.
If it still doesn't work try to flash an older version of the official rom available for your model. If that doesn't help then create a Goldcard and flash the WWE-Europe rom. A Goldcard can be created with PSAS. This tool will cost you a few bucks but it's worth each and every penny (hopefully you still have a few pennies left for a donation )

That's the so-called region protection which HTC introduced for roms for some regions (in particular russian and asian roms). They only run on devices sold for the same region.

Anything more I can test?
The loader screen is exactly the same as the shot in first post except for the 0000 instead of HARD, so I guess the modelid is the same one...

Another quick question, does the phone have to be sim unlocked first?

I was trying to make upgrade from wm5 to wm6,and was looking in tutorial xda-developers > Prophet > Prophet mobile 6> New WM6 Upgrade Guide. First,I found a Upgrade_HardSPL_G4.rar, and did what was said in tutorial,copy the 3 files from the jumpspl.zip to the root directory of your Prophet and then unplug / disconnect Prophet,Execute the SPL.lnk IN THE DEVICE, then you see Prophet in all bright or white screen,Execute the ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4 (I have a g4 device) to upgrade hardspl. I got message that my update utility was old and that I need new. Then I restarted device,just run ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4 from the hardspl folder and instalation went smooth,pda restarted and worked well. Then I went back on xda-developers > Prophet > Prophet mobile 6> New WM6 Upgrade Guide,found this sentence: ''Step 3 and 4 are necessary only if the WM6 rom you have downloaded instead of nk.nbf has os.nb file and the ExtROM folder'', and as I downloaded wm61_korand_3_1.rar that contains only nk.nbf file,I put it in Update_Package\Update Utilities,and run ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4 fron that folder. The instalation finished and pda booted in bootloader. After that I tried flashing Shadow My Edition 2,no DualSIM,and followed the instructions to recover pda from wiki/ prophet recovery(downloaded PDAMobiz_Prophet_WM6_V1.00_Step1),everything was the same,always bootloader. Are you sure your device is a G4?

I'm sure that my device is g4. Did a hard reset and it went to bootloader again. Is there a hope? If you can enter bootloader, the device is recoverable.

I face the same issue.. have tried hard reset, hardSPL and downgrading to WM5 ROM.. only the downgrade is working.. but every time I try to upgrade to WM6 it enters RGB screen.. have tried with atleast 5 WM6 ROM... any senior member to help pls.

there are sucessful cases , please read my post or.... are you using Vista?
If so, you need other solution. (not with me ... sorry ~~ )

What is the SPL of your device?
When recovering to WM5 you better NOT use the Mobis step 1. Any other step 1 or NVID will be fine. The Mobis ROM is too manipulated for flashing their own WM6 ROM. It will give all kinds of problems when it is used for other purposes.
I tried recovery with RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_QtekWWE_Ship.exe
and it reported error,saying that it's only for upgrade. Where to find NVID

-my pda boots in bootloader mode
-it shows on screen IPL:2.58.0001, SPL:2.58.0001
-it's G4 model
-it has no hardspl on it
First one wild shot:
1. Download this jumpspl http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329147
2.follow the instructions,and instead nk.nbf file from desired rom I put a nk.nbf file found in hardspl rar archive to the SoftSPL folder ,and hopefully flash hrdspl.
3.from bootloader flash any desired wm6 rom with RUU
Second solution:
1.download PVTemp
2.try to flash it from bootloader
3.if it's ok,then on to the next step like on your page one for old method.
Is there something else,diferent way to do this from bootloader?

Hi there ~~~~ tell you what~~ ^_^
1. there are 2 ways to upgrade
a. " New " Method.
b. " Old" method.
2. for more update rom flashing.... better have you device hardSPL.
then you can go by 3 means to flash....
1. straight upgrade that is: connect to PC via activesync, activate RUU right ahead ( I don't like this method as sometimes will stuck @ bootloader,
2. copy the 3 files from the jumpspl to the prophet's root directory then activate manually...
3. force bootloader ( by manually buttons combination and not reboot in 3 color hang )...
then 2 and 3 is fine, ( 3 is more convenience though), you should see " USB " at the bottom prophet screen if you did things right. ^_^,
then flash...... ^_^
This is my [size=+2]little handmade tool [/size], a combination tool with Taiwan Cook - YouZii and XDA cook - Korand,
just unzip, execute the " UPGRADE.cmd " , the some on screen clicks, wait and done. !!!
Don't forget to hardSPL before so. OK?

[size=+2]NOTE: This is NOT a SIM unlocker - it also doesn't unlock Security for other radios. if you need that, GO HERE[/size]
thanks to Chainfire, martinitime and many others for testing!
Instructions:
1) download Hard-SPL package from attachment, extract to an empty folder. make sure it's launched from a local drive (not through network drive, etc.)
2) you must Have Phone Synced with PC in Windows Mobile!
3) run RaphaelHardSPL-Unsigned_190_1_3.exe,
4) follow steps in the RUU, check device for prompts after PC shows loading bar.
5) it should go to black screen now.
6) SPL flashes, device automatically reboots, job done.
7) to confirm you got it installed, go into bootloader mode (tricolour screen!) and verify the screen shows 1.90.OliNex.
NOTE: you will not see the SPL version during normal boot, that is the OS version, not SPL!
to enter bootloader mode to see version: with the device turned on, press and hold the volume down button, then press the reset button with the stylus tip, then release the volume down button when bootloader tricolour screen appears.
NOTE 2: anyone having problems with the device entering SSPL automatically, please copy SSPLManual.exe from second attachment to the device and run it. then once the screen is black, run RUU manually. i.e. you run the RUU on the PC, if it isn't obvious.
NOTE 3: this is unsigned Hard-SPL. no limitations on flashing ROMs or radio packages. also, this has overwrite protection, if someone needs to revert to stock SPL for warranty reasons, we will soon post a stock SPL downgrade package.
NOTE 4: do not use this RUU for anything other than SPL flashing (i.e. hardspl or stock spl restore)!!! if you want to flash some other rom, then use customruu from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410761

UPDATE: STEP BY STEP HOW TO RETURN TO STOCK SPL - FOR WARRANTY REASONS ONLY!
0. be sure to first restore stock OS, and stock radio. stock SPL is always to be done last!!
1. download the stock spl package from this post.
2. also download the original hardspl from the attachments in this post.
3. run the hardspl exe but do not click anything in RUU yet. just let the hardspl EXE extract the files for flashing.
4. the SPL you want to revert to is a .NBH file, put the NBH in the extracted hardspl package, overwriting the original NBH file in it!
5. continue with the RUU (or if needed, run SSPL-Manual.exe manually, then run RUU when it goes to black screen), it goes to 100%, reboots, done.
+6. to verify, volume down + reset, see version number on tricolour screen, should now just say 1.90.0000.
that's it.

yeah, exactly this is why we need testing. it will most probably need extra tweaking, otherwise we would have just posted the file

go to the link below download the ROM for OLD GENE also download a new ROM utty besfen ROM comes with the utty u can also use these roms for ur Gene see 2nd link provided i think ur existing Rom utty is corrupted
besfen has also provided original wm6 u can also try that also

Mr HAREE I tried with the "OLD_GENE_ORIGINAL_WM6" ROM but I am having same UPDATE [300] error..!!!
I am trying every ROM available for GENE please guide me..!!!
My cells manufacture date is AUGUST 2008..!!!

as per the ur spl mentioned and mine is the same so urs is a old gene i hope the numbers mentioned is right now try this
1.off the phone
2.take batter out press the power button for few secs around 3-4 secs
3.put battery back into the phone keep pressing camera button and power on the phone this should get u the tricolor screed if u get it good attached USB cable and flash an new ROM with ROm utty
or
press camera button and restart the phone with stylus this should also get u the tricolor
if u down load the besfenROM it also has the Rom utty with the ROm us this one and not the ROM utty u already have with u

Pls Explain how it could be happent?? does the update process interupted??

1. disconect the usb cable
2. press camera, then reset, release reset but still press camera, release it if the screen show tri color
3. connect the cable
4. if it say found new hardware, install usb driver for vista, it is in the package you download from thread to did hard SPL.

Well as I said I tired to update the ROM & I messed up but now used XP & got th e the ROM to its ORIGINAL condition..!!!
I want to update the ROM, I tired all the ROM roms but having the same update 300 error, My GENE is AUGUST 2008 manufactured & has SPL 1.10.Olip..!!!
So I need a proper CID unlocker & the proper BOOT LOADER UPADTE & RUU..!!!!
Can you help me???

Is your Gene working at the moment with the .Olip SPL? If yes, then your Gene is already unlocked.
Try any ROM you wish, just make sure that its post says that it is for "Old Gene". You may try a lot of Good ROMs from this forum, I can't suggest you any specific since its against my principle.

try to flash ur device on that tri color screen
if it is unlocked then it will definitely get flashed with any ROM for old gene, and if their is some problem them u probably have a new gene sso try orekfov method to unlock
Why in the world people dont want to read the tutorial properly before flashing, dont you guys give a damn to the phone that you purchased using your heard earned money, doesn't it deserve a little bit of your grey matter?.
First of all, there is no problem in unlocking phone from Vista so i request you guys to not spread this myth. In VIsta, you only need to downgrade your activesync drivers to windows xp ones and everything else goes smooth as pie. If you dont even know how to upgrade your pc drivers even after reading the guide and using the helpful driver update wizard that Windows Vista provides, i advice you to stay away from all this unlocking stuff, this is strictly not for you untill you study how driver updating works in Windows. And all this driver updating stuff is written in the Tutorial as a vital step, still people manage to skip it.
Secondly, if you had given even a little glance at tutorial you would know that if the Olipro SPL doesn't works on a phone, it is a new gene and the Orefkov's method must be used. After using that, phone gets alive right on that moment.
So as always, i wont try to help any futher, this is not a kids forum. If you consider me rude, good for you. But i just can't tolerate ignorance of this level.

@ krazy_about_technology, sorry but I am not a NOOB, i have updated many ROM's but I am using VISTAS BLACK version by AMIT AGARA so I couldn't
update or technically DEGRADE the ACTIVE SYNC, that is the prob with it..!!!
& I have read the whole tutorial almost 10 times but still it didn't help me...
I have tried all old & new ROMs both using VISTAS & XP but my GENE is not getting updated..!!!

Well try on different computer then. Use an genuine, clean copy of Vista or XP and you will succeed.

Hmm... Have you tried using the Orefkov unlocker method? What output is it giving? Try doing it after removing the battery, holding down the power button for 15 seconds and then then putting battery back and restarting phone in bootloader mode. I will try to get more info on this in the meanwhile.

I am a noob in this area. I am reading the forum for the last days and trying to upgrade my i-mate jamin G3 but i always get stuck...
I started this thread as it involves more than one thread I read, namely
- Windows Mobile 6 Directory For Dummies
- New WM6 Upgrade Guide
- HardSPL guide and files
- Prophet Tools Light: Just the flash! & Prophet Tools: Simplify Flashing--V2.8.3 now up!
- Current upgrade guide for the most ROMs
- LAZYTOOL For all nk.nbf FLASHING + 3 color bootup SOLUTION + (PLEASE READ.........)
- WM 6.5 build 21501 Titanium [ Fixed ] & Fixed CommManager, and other ROMs I tryed...
- ...
so here it goes:
#1# I tryed to run HardSPL an I got an error message like this:
'One or more CON code pages invalid for your given keyboard'
so i guess i didn't work...
#2# then I tryed with ProphetTools and after doing the HardSPL it asks (in jamin) to run JumpSPL I click on yes and then I get white screen (in jamin) I click the flash rom and then I get either:
- error 260 or 274 - connection - this sometimes is worked around and got to 208
or/then
- error 208 - file open (and I did put the nk.nbf rom file in ...\Tools (as said on PTL) and also tryed in ...\Utils\Flash)
#3# While in white screen (achieved with PTL) I also tryed ROM 21501 (with its own RUU) and I get 3 colour screen after supposedly successful upgrade...
#4# also tryed lazyTool but got the same 3 colour screen
#5# With the no vendor NVID_RUU (got from lazy tool thread) I got it back to WM5 and working, pitfully i forgot to dump my original rom so now i am stuck in WM5 in English (i at least had it in Portuguese - my native L)...

... actually my prophet (jamin) works fine after I flashed the NVID, the problem is that I can't put it to work with any other ROM...
So any of senior experts plz advice
hopefully i am missing some supidly simple solution

im a total noob here too but i never encountered the same prob as you have.. i see SPL 2.20 right... so if you want to flash a ROM from here its required that you do HardSPL. i have a G3 device too. you might want to try this... i will try to help as much as i can...
make sure your USB cable/cradle is working perfectly and try to attached it at the back of your PC CPU...
and btw are you using XP or VISTA? coz i use XP...
just RUN HardSPL and let it do its thing... when its done check your SPL again..

I just got another USB cable borrowed and tried the HardSPL you uploaded and it Worked
Actually It gave me the same error message about 'One or more CON code pages invalid for your given keyboard' but this time I didn't got the 3colour screen at the end, instead it restarted normally with SPL 2.G3
I am just waiting battery charge reaches 50% to try flashing it

Instructions
-------------
1. connect your NEON400 with your PC by USB cable and boot into Windows Mobile
2. wait until ActiveSync is ready (icon green)
3. run "flash-hardspl.bat" to flash the HardSPL. It will create a backup of your current SPL
(called "spl-backup.bin") and creates a file "check.bin" in subdirectory "1" (for diagnostic purposes)
4. the phone will be rebooted automatically
5. you can now flash any cooked or original rom, splash screen or radio rom
Notes
-------
- if your device is application locked the batch file will run with errors. To app unlock your device
Download PHM Registry Editor - v0.70 from here:

Copy it to your device and execute it.
Modify this registry key:
HKLM/Security/Policies/Policies/0000101B if set to dword:2, change it to dword:1
Reset using power button and try again.
- the HardSPL is based on the SPL v0.28.0000 (Neon_C, Shipped)
- a quick verification for correct installation is to boot into SPL tri-colour bootloader screen. In the top-left corner it should display "0.28.Hard"
- to flash back the stock SPL 0.28.0000 run "flash-stock-0.28.0000.bat"
- to flash your original SPL run "flash-your-backup.bat"

Hey thankyou for making my day! I searched high and low (xda and ppcgeeks) for neon400 threads. Im all giddy that i had the privilige to be a part of the project.
I started cooking for my vogue recently after months of trying out everybody elses roms. I love it! I'm happy my father in law's bell neon needed the factory reset. (although he was pissed to loose his contacts. (i installed pimbackup for him now)

JockyW, I just tried to flash the bell rom with no success but the telus rom will load with no problem.
The bell rom gets stuck at the HTC start page immediately after the phone is turned on.

What did you find out?
hi,
i used your tool....and broke my device..
after the automatc reboot, my device turned off....and now it doesnt react on anything!
the power function is lost, the akku isnt charging, the device isnt starting, just black screen without any led lighting....

You installed the NEON400 hspl on your Niki I assume. The Neon hspl is *not* for Niki and will brick it. For Niki you find my hspl below ...
Connect your Niki to your PC and check if you are prompted to install drivers. If it does, your niki can very likely be unbricked using a modified version of my Frankenkaiser tool.
