is root so important for X10 ?

How important the root is depends on how many people pick up development for it and their output. The more that do so the more likely someone is to come up with something you want. With this one both mediascape and timescape are developer extensible so there are options for adding in fucntionality there that you might not see available from SE. An no brainer would be making it so that timescape opened up a user specified facebook app instead of taking you to the internet page. Then there are things like porting it over to 2.1 sans rachael and similar. Probably the most obvious though is being able to remove the carrier bs and take control of the phone. Thats always worth a root for me personally although I have not bought a branded phone in some time.

It is important for any device. The freedom feels good.

Add my 10$ too.
Root root root beer!

I'll add my 10$ as well!
If I'm lucky, my new X10 is waiting at my office when I just get off this bloody airport.
First time I ever wanted a phone as I much as I do now.

Is that something useful in the Rooting process?

what is the benefit of "root" an android phone? I know it is a silly question for most of u, but i never had an andoid based phone , my first will be the X10, (from wednesday)
so if i root my X10 what is the main benefit for me? Is rooting means i might lose guarante?

rooting means titanium backup and nandroid backups which means you can switch roms and restore apps/settings back to what you had before
it means custom roms
it means root applications which are more powerful than anything a non root app can be

who exactly will the money be going to? And how much $ is usually needed for the developers to start developing?

Im getting my X10 tomorrow, and would love to rip the system image (or whatever it takes), so that you guys could root this beauty! But what do i need to rip it?

Yeah, root would be nice. I got my X10 yesterday, and I am on the fence as to whether or not I want to give up my Nexus One. I'm betting that root + custom ROMs + overclocking will make me feel better about my X10.

X10 needing rooting soon!

There are only unofficial 2.0/2.1 ROMs available at the moment, and most of them have some issues. For many, they are small enough that they can use these ROMs on a day to day basis, but for others they are not.
If you are a total noob to Android, and your ROM comes with a 2.73 build, I would leave it as it is for now until you get a bit more knowledgeable.

Since you are on PAYG, I take it you won't have much data allowance? If that's the case, you don't want anything with online maps. I use Copilot, which is paid app, but it's *very* cheap for what it is and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Look around these forums for a while, especially the dev forum. Everything you need is here, and you'll get less flak from forum users if you take the time to find it yourself. Of course, if you run into problems post a question, but remember the mantra "search is your friend"!
Regards,
Dave
Thanks alot for your responce i will try searching the reason i do ask though is not through laziness but i am really that stupid when it comes to technology hehe
I would find it and read it and still not have a clue but ty for your answers once more )
How do i check which if i have ROM 2.73 build ? and if its not i take it i would need to find and install that build somehow?
But yes as you said i am a total noob so i guess waiting untill the official 2.0 update is availible.
The copilot you suggest sounds good as thats the main thing i will probably use. Would you have a link to the cheapest or best place to get that from?
So ty for the suggestion.

For the record, you XDA folk are amazing.
Are there folks out there by region that would help other folks such as myself (for appropriate fee, Starbucks menu-configuration) who are complete NOOB IDIOTS that would upgrade (change ROM) on our machines for us, or in the alternative, or show us how.
Info would be good to know and you guys good at same could make some....coffee money. Region of interest to me: central california.
Bless you for what you do.
Question: If I upgrade to a better ROM than out of the box, will I be able to use Adroid Market and do most normal things that an Android can do????
Thanks again. You guys that submerge yourself into this stuff are superheros!
Look in my signature. Yes, all custom roms have full market access.
Couldn't be happier

I'd give it a shot...
Dont forget to donate to goodintentions.
I did...
Honestly if you have an hour or two to read through the numerous walkthroughs that are out there for the G-tablet you will be fine. These are very forgiving, and even if you do mess something up, chances are more than likely you will be able to recover it. I would suggest not only reading up on how to root/flash a new rom, but read through and prepare to do an NVflash, so if/when your device sticks at the 3 little birds, you wont have to worry and can be happy (bob marley).

[Request(if possible?] Samsung Galaxy Luna SM-120VL

I have recently purchased my daughter this phone to use for Pokemon Go...since she is only 9 she cannot go walking around too far to play this game..SOOO i am in need of 2 things if at all possible.
1. A rooted stock ROM for this Phone(SuperSU rooted works the best and easiest)
2. A Stock ROM for the phone(Just an exact replica of the ROM that is pre-installed when you first buy the phone, or can remove all the garbage excess stuff if would like? )
I do not have loads of cash but if someone can help me i wouldn't mind donating to them to get this done? Just let me know if someone has these files already(i already have Odin to do the flashing and i know how to do it already, just need these 2 files ) OR if someone would do this for me(for my daughter actually haha) like i said, i would gladly donate to them if they prefer. just whatever it takes
Thanks for the time and for reading my post!
Anyone at all willing to help? or tell me how to make a copy of the phone myself?
Still no answer? is it ok to bump threads like once a week so people can see the thread often? i am desperately needing to find someone to help me. My daughter keeps asking about this and i have to keep telling her i am working on it. I've tried researching how to do it myself...but uhhh it gets kinda confusing and last thing i wanna do is mess the phone up lol. So, if anyone can please help me i'd GREATLY appreciate it! If cannot send the files themselves...if someone could guide me exactly as to how to manage doing it by myself maybe? Thanks guys!
I am afraid to say this is not possible so far I know. A Friend as ask me to unlock his phone, but no success. I think I gonna suggest to sell it in eBay and get another phone which is possible to unlock (and not from Verizon).

root zte z798bl?

Any luck yet?
Also interested if anything has come on this device. Seems like a fairly decent phone for the price ($28.99 - Walmart family mobile) but could definitely use a bloatware lesson lol. If it helps at all I unlocked Developer Options (via the usual way) and it has an option to unlock bootloader...can anyone tell me what happens if I do that...lol before I do that?
Thanks in advance for any tips\tricks anyone can share;

Does anyone know what has become of this?
root
ive rooted phones before but there is no rom available for the z798bl.
I have two of these phones and too much free time.
How can i copy the rom to an sdtcard?
Then i guess id need the android equivlent of Interactive Disassembler Pro to make a rooted rom.
IM new at this, Someone Please Tell Me What needs to be done!
I think the problem is as follows:
There is NO stock ROM for the z798bl available on the web
'
I need to root this ***** because wifihotspot sharing is disabled.
Factors:
Marshmallow 6.0.1 with certain service providers BLOCKS data so:
If you have one z798bl with unlimited data
and another z798bl with no data plan
mMking a hotspot to connect the two phones is Blatantly Broken
Just keeping the rom it has, has anyone ever got root privileges on the Z798BL?

I haven't found anything at all either...then my Laptop took a sh*t on my so I've pretty much tabled it for now but as soon as I can I'm going to go ahead and try my best to make a shiny paper weight brick out of a new one...it's $24.88 at Walmart now so if it works then sweet, if not.../shrug...I've wasted more money on way worse things than that in me life lol. As for putting together your own ROM...I'd say go for it...I'm not quite confident enough with the little bit of experience I have so far to try that but if you do I will help any way I can...You might go look at Googles downloads site...you can download Android sdk Suite for developers onto your PC for free...I think its focused on App Development mainly but it comes with a bunch of other cool stuff too, including a virtual phone that is an Android emulator for testing out your experiments. Didn't mean to write a book here lol but please keep me in the loop and I'll return the favor. ✌

I haven't tried this on the exact phone model you mentioned, but I used it on a Z836BL and it seems to work on any model whatsoever, no root necessary. Cheers!

I believe that you are new here and don't know that the huawei phones would not enable us to install stock roms and we are not able now to unlock the bootloader anymore for free lol.
So there is no custom roms dear
Wtf how am I supposed to unlock the bootloader then I need more information quickly so I can cancel my purchase. Is it impossible to unlock bootloader now

Depends on your firmware. If Security Patch is June or later you won't be able to, at least not if you're on C432.
If you are on security patch may or earlier you will be able to use HCU client to get unlock code, but it's paid.
I can only confirm that it's not possible to get unlock code on C432B145+, I can't confirm for other cust but it will most likely be the same.
Edit: if it's a brand new phone it will likely come with factory firmware, unless the shop you bought it from updated it.
Even if I was able to unlock think it's likely that development will be very limited would I be right in thinking this.

I wouldn't say "limited" it depends what your looking for, obviously the best device development is for OnePlus and Pixels imo, but we still have RessurectionRemix, LineageOS, CarbonROM & OmniROM, that's 4 pretty recognisable ROM's :good:
Link to ROM's : https://openkirin.net/download/
To be honest, I had my first Mate 10 Pro rooted, and apart from an Ad blocker and YouTube Vanced there wasn't much I felt any need to install. Now Vanced can be installed without root, and Ad Blocker can run on various browsers, I don't see much point.
The Mate 10 Pro is a brilliant phone, I'm seriously considering selling my S9+ and going back to the 10 Pro - the battery life was far better, and I think the camera was better. I also hate the bent sides on the screen on the Samsung. Only thing I might missis Samsung Pay, but I'll just go back to contactless card.
Thanks to you guys and some further reasearch i was able to reach out to the person on ebay i had bought the phone from and cancel the purchase after explaining the situation with bootloader. I am still reeling from Huwaweis decision to stop bootloader unlocking and hope they one day reverse this decision. I really had my heart set on the mate 10 for obvious reasons but possible lack of bootloader unlock is just a no no for me on my current phone a xiaomi mi6 i regularly change roms and kernels sometimes twice a week so i certainly could not live with being stuck on Mui with no possibility of modifications xposed etc. And i did not want to take the risk of buying to only find out that the bootloder had been patched or something and id be stuck.
So now i have turned my attention to either the oneplus 5 or perhaps galaxy s8plus. Again thanks for your help guys.
