Howdy All....
Thanks to the wonderful help here, I've managed to go from a complete newbie at flashing ROMs, to testing out 8 different ones on my phone over the last few days.
Now that I've finally settled on VetVito's ROM, I just have a quick question for the guru's out there: What is the best way to assign certain apps or functions to the front buttons?
I've found where it's listed under the Button Settings, and it shows: Home as <Start Menu> - and that works fine; it shows Home(Hold) as Camera - that one "doesn't" work; it shows Send(Hold) as Voice Command - and that works fine)....So now I'm trying to figure out why Camera isn't working when I hold the Send button (works fine when I go to camera normally), or how to assign it to one of the other buttons - and also how to assign a task manager to one.

You could probably try an app called HButton, which will allow you to assign programs to most hardware buttons. You can find it in the Dev&Hacking section.

Although, I tried it and have the same response. Decided to try it with the Send key and I believe it's a problem with the ROM (I'll check with VetVito's thread and if I can't find a resolution, I'll move back to one of the other ROMs I tested, which it worked fine in)..
Thanks again for the tip! I should have tested out everything in the ROM "before" I loaded all of my apps and data, resync'd, etc... LOL
K, i'm aware there's a old post on this but no one's updated it in seven months. So here's the question again: why is my camera app so slow to launch? And how can I fix it?
I am running rooted stock 2.1-update1.
Baseband 2.1.55.
Kernel 2.6.29 [email protected] #1.
Build 2.1.1.A.0.6
I've turfed much of the bloatware. Does anyone have any (effective, proven) suggestions for speeding up the launching of the stock camera application from the hardware button? Its even slow if the program is running and i've just switched to the homescreen.

How long? Have you compared it to another camera app? Like a Camera 360 or a Retro Camera or Vignette?
And have you tried installing a Task Manager to see what other apps are running in the background?
Maybe there are a dozen other apps running in the background.
Maybe try clearing cache for the Camera app....go under Settings->Applications and look for the Camera app.

I meant vs opening any other app on the device.
Just task killed - 105m free. pressing hardware button. 10 seconds.
Put camera in the task killer ignore list, cleared the cache, launched went into settings and fixed 'em. out to home screen. hit hardware button. its still almost 10 seconds to launch a native OS app. Conversely, my phone app launches within about 2/3rds of a second from pressing the touchscreen button.
On a whim, i put the camera button on the homescreen. still slightly slow, but faster than the hardware button - does that make any sense? is there some other task i should be ignoring for faster HW button access?

So it is normal when accessed using the Camera app icon in the app list, but the HW camera button on the side is slow.
I think the default Camera app is a lot weaker than Camera360, so I don't use it.
I don't use the camera button.
Anyone else have any suggestions?

Hi, I want to ask is there a way to change the camera button function? I mean, instead of opening default camera app, I want it to open camera zoom fx. I tried making it the default camera app but when I click on the camera button, it didn't ask which app should be the main app. I tried freezing the default camera app with titanium backup and it worked but the camera button won't work when the screen is locked.
Edit: I made a mistake unknowingly creating this thread here, I mean this in Xperia S Q&A forum. Can someone move it please? Or should I make another thread there? Thanks
check the settings> applications> all> choose the default camera sony> clear default

Can you guys get around the above problem by removing the dialer/contacts app from the action overflow whitelist ? if yes please tell me and I will push an update to make it easy to blacklist by default.

Yes, adding the following to the overflow menu white list fixes the bug on 4.3 TouchWiz:
Phone
Contacts
I had a hard time to do this though since the applications were not in any particular order. Hope this helps.

By default, you can press and hold the menu button to access the menu with this Xposed module active.
On galaxy note, it work perfect when perform one click to open task, manager.
But problem in opening menu when long press the button. It will keep show and hide the menu when keep press the button.
And, if only press for 3 seconds. The menu appear and once release button it disappear.
I believe this thread is rarely visited and checked by the author of the module. I think it's better if we post our concerns in the official support discussion thread according to the description here:

Yes, it does. You need to whitelist "Phone" and "Contacts" from MenuBeGone's UI. That did the trick on my device.

I lurk all threads Will provide an update that detects if device is running touchwiz and blacklist based on feedback.
For now I will blacklist Phone and Contacts packages.

Lol. :good: Sounds good. Honestly, that's the only thing I can think of for you to change. Or maybe give an option on how long we should press and hold the menu button for the menu to show up instead.

I have another problem, can anyone please fix this.
After applying the module there is space for NavBar, but there are no icons( I can get them though).
Dock icon labels are also gone. Can anyone help me get the original look back with icon label and less space.

Black bar in the dialer

Here is the only problem I have on Galaxy S4 mini. As you mentioned it this module doesn't work well with the dialer.
I'm getting a black bar at the bottom of the Keypad and only Keypad !,, All the other tabs in a dialer, like Logs, Favorites and Contacts look good.
Work on my note 8 !

Hello sir. Thanks for your helpful module. But I am having problem on my device. I am using Vega IM-A760s. When I press menu key, it shows the "Recents" screen, not the "Multitasking" screen (as in the attachments). Can you help me to solve this. Thanks.
Great module. Two issues:
1) On the GS4 running Lollipop, the dialer has a problem:
If I try to uncheck Phone and Contacts from the whitelist, there is no effect.
2) Would it be possible to search through the whitelist or sort the whitelist alphabetically? Useful when I have 300+ apps on the list.

Not sure if this mod is still being developed or not but I have installed it on my Samsung Galaxy S4 and works great apart from when I watch videos on MX Player.
In MX Player you can lock the screen while watching a video and disables the hardware buttons. I have found that the menu key still works despite the screen being locked.
Is there any chance this can be fixed?
Hi, can't help but noticed that there's a slight delay when I pushed the recent button. Looks a lot like home button delay with S-Voice. Might be related with Talkback app. Settings> Accessibility> Dexterity & Interaction > Tap & hold delay. Lowest setting is 0.5.. any way to change the value?
hi, I installed cm-12-20150204-NIGHTLY-hltespr.zip and my camera doesn't work when the flash is on. the camera app will hang but not force close but I'm not able to press the shutter again until I lock/unlock the device.
edit: now it doesnt work at all. it used to take and save pictures when the flash was disabled but now it just hangs on the view finder and i am unable to toggle any options until i close it (long press on home and flick away) and relaunch it. it seems to try to take the picture but its unable to save it for some reason ?
