Guess what I just found online?
I've never heard of this game before, but liked the sound of this computer generated voice. Kinda like the lighter side or WOPR (War Games).

Did a little googling and found out it will speak whatever text you type.
Now you can generate your own customized, personalized (even by name) ringtone or reminders.
A few examples:
-Incoming Text Messages
-You have an incoming call
-This is xxx's voicemail. Please leave a message
-Your xxxx (wife/mother/boss/sibling) is calling
-Beginning Activesync
-Downloading MMS
-Connection Established
-Connection Disconnected

(each sentence takes about 6 minutes to generate, but nonetheless, worth it)
(your email address is not required..)
Thought I'd share.
Sweet would be nice with better quality though.. but thx for sharing!
found this: http://www2.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php#top
It's not a computer voice but if you choose crystal it actually sounds pretty cool, and the quality is great!

I use SuperAlert to give me repeating alarms for calendar and task notifications. Unfortunately, it doesn't do SMS notifications, and I miss some due to just not hearing it or being away from the device. Am I the only one?
i WISH
it's the most annoying thing about this phone. you never know you missed a call unless you actually go look at it.
i want it!!
I used to miss SMS's too, but found a neat little trick (and it's free too)
Just go to settings, notifications and select Inbox:New SMS Message, then tick Flash Light and set No limit in the duratins box. (I've done the same for missed calls myself) and if the light is flashing (three times as fast as usual) I have either a missed call or a new SMS
Work great on both PocketPC 2002 and Windows Mobile 2003

Hi guys.
I can't stop enjoying the WM2003, especially because of these things:
-When entering SMS a character counter shows if you exceed 160 characters.
-Incoming SMS does not wake up the unit, only audible/vibrating warning.
Excellent if the unit is in the pocket.
-A notification is given when an outgoing SMS is sent.
-Incoming calls and SMS' is represented by name without having to use the PPC2002 patch
-Incoming message notification even when Inbox is opened/active
Billy has done some work since PPC2002!
(but these features has been present on all GSM phones the last 10 years...)

Looks like a typical Uncle Bill stunt...
give the user what they think they should have...
not what the user actually wants.
Dont we all just love the DRM'd Windows media 9 series...
but what happened to mp3 ringtone support? heh
yeah yeah I'm going to get *****ed at for bringing that up again but its not exactly rocket science is it?
I say unique because I may be the only one that is requesting help with this so don't put too much weight into it but if you do think you can help, I would appreciate it.
When receiving a text from an actual phone number, the "callback" feature, when pressed, calls the number back from which the text was recieved. At work(airline pilot), we have the ability to set parameters for trips that become available and the mainframe will send us a text when our parameters are met. The address in the text is in the form of an email address....ie.... [email protected]. Many of these open trips are highly sought after( worth a lot of money) so the ability to call crew scheduling back expeditiously is a high priority. On the Samsung Instinct, all I had to do was make a contact in the phone book that matched that email address and the callback feature matched the two up and I could call back immediately with only one keystroke. This phone(whether Handcent or native phonebook) tries to call the email address(regardless of the fact that I have an exact match in the phonebook)....which obviously it cant do so I get an immediate "call ended" on the dialer. Is there any way to edit the call back number or match the numbers up in the phonebook so the callback feature in the running SMS page will work when the text is sent from something other than a phone number??? I don't have the time to go thru 5 menus and 5-10 keystrokes....the trip is gone by then and I miss the opportunity of potentially thousands of dollars(and/or more time at home).
If I cannot figure this out, I will have to return the Hero and go back to the Instinct. It literally is thousands of dollars at stake.
PS...I posted this same question on the Handcent website but so far, no reply.
Thanks for reading and TIA!
It sucks but I will be returning the Hero because of this.....I am tired of watching the money go by and not being able to grab it.
If you use googlemail -
In any email you get a circle next to the mail sender. Sometimes its coloured green, sometimes not (doesn't matter which)
Press the circle and you got straight to the contact for the sender and can ring out straight from there. Hope you haven't sent it back yet!
The problem is getting the phone to recognize and sync the 2 contacts together. Handcent has a callback feature. But if you activate it, it dials 6245... which I guess is where the text is sent from. But the header of the text is in email format. I have made contacts with both 6245 and the header address in the hopes that the phone will sync the inbound text to the contact. The Instinct does this successfully. So far, this phone has not.
Lately, I've been noodling how I can improve Samsung's Send SOS ("Send help" on the S5) feature using Tasker.
Some background: Since the S5 and perhaps earlier, the Galaxy line has a built-in Safety Assistance feature. When switched on it can be triggered by pressing the power button three times quickly. The phone then switches on high accuracy GPS and creates two texts ("SOS!" and "I need help") with this location data. It also records a 5-second audio clip and takes a photo using each the front-facing and rear camera. These five texts are sent to pre-designated contacts (up to four).
Whether hurt in an accident or facing a bad outcome with a criminal or a cop with an attitude, this feature could is useful. Still, I'd like to enhance it:
- a more actionable "help" message, e.g., Google street address approximation or key instruction;
- a longer recording that is shared and backed up to the cloud.
This looks like it should be easy for Tasker to handle. I created a profile triggered by a notification that help messages are being sent. After the initial text, I used the Recordr app, which has a Tasker plugin to record, then stop after two minutes. (I don't reverse this order because I don't wish to delay the instructional message. Who knows what can happen if I wait?)
It saves the recording in a file with a 15-character name based upon date and time, e.g.., DATE_TIME.aac.
Haven't tried Tasker's record media
A1: Send SMS Number xxxxxxxxxx Message: Avenge me!
A2: Recordr Configuration Record
A3: Wait 2 minutes
A4: Recordr Configuration Stop
My messaging app, Message+ (no judgements, please), automatically sends in Group messaging mode, which allows potential coordination by my "saviors." Sadly, some services may not respond as I'd like. Google Voice and Metro PCS recipients do not use Group mode. Short of having everyone switch messengers -- a very personal and unlikely option -- the only solution I can think of is to warn everyone that some people may not receive or respond in Group mode.
Another issue: Not knowing the file name, I'm unsure how to go about sharing the longer recording. I'm leaning to not having to know the name and using AutoShare or AutoInput to get this done. Also: Any thoughts on what's long enough? A crime is probably less than a minute, an accident needs little time like location info, and a traffic stop can take a while unless things go south quickly.)
My questions:
1. How can I retrieve and send this recording to a contact or point to a link online?
2. How long a recording do you recommend?
3. Any other ideas on what to add?
4. Rather than wait for the Send notification, which waits until after the location has been determined, is there a way to trigger off the initial button presses?
Hello,
I have some many Bob's & Franks etc in my phone book when they call i have no idea who it is, is there a dialer app that displays the company info?
Each of my contacts have the company info saved in their google contact info, i just need it to display on the incoming call screen.
THank you,
Bump
Did you ever find one? I'd love to find something that will work without trying 20 different products and getting malware...
I have the same issue...
Same issue
I know it may seem like a pain but for myself I almost never know the last name of anyone so when I store contacts it's usually "Bob NAPA Rep" or "Frank OCC" but you could leave their last names and just add initials or titles on the same line to have it displayed when they call. Doing this on your phone would take forever too so you could log into your Google account and do it from a laptop or pc and it would be much easier and faster.

Well aren't you in luck if you check this sooner than before. Looking thru Android Central forms there's an app mentioned called Call Notes Pro. There's a free version but you have to get the pro version to get three feature you want but if you go today it's half price. $1.49. the sale ends tomorrow. It's rated 4.9 stars which is unheard of. Best of luck.

I use "Smart Notify - Dialer, SMS & Notifications" by Milan Vyšata
There is a free version which is very good (although I'd encourage you to support the developer).
It seems this app also work great as both dialer and show company info.
