Hey guys... its been a looooong night but i wanted to get something out for u so i worked and worked and finally came up with a ROM from the new OTA... This is the retail ROM (1.27.531) with the whole OTA applied taking you to 1.35.531... The newest radio is included, the ROM is rooted, apps2sd is also included so this one should be a go... Im tired as hell right now so i will modify this post and also post a changelog later after my nap.... but i wanted u guys to have somethin to play with and so i traded sleep for ur guys enjoyment (hopefully) lol... Anyways, without further chit chat i give you CR_Mod_1.35.531_OTA... I suggest a backup and a wipe, although the ROM will wipe upon install... I am nt responsible for anything that may happen to ur device upon flashing so proceed at ur own risk... Have fun, hope u enjoy..... CR
CR_Mod_1.35.531_OTA
For those who are wondering what the OTA does itself, heres the words straight from T-Mobile... OTA
For a2sd... heres a little help so u dnt have to read the whole thread... sorry guys, been busy with some RL issues...

This rom, unlike SMR5r1, does NOT move dalvik-cache to sd by default, which is why everyones internal storage still seems to fluxuate when downloading apps..
Typing

ALso, dont forget to run the command
a2sd install (so it gets installed/enabled)
But don't forget to wipe your ext partition or make the partition. ANd if you already have a swap parition it'll automatically use it.
ry, you're the shizzy son! thanks for all the hard work
awesome...you really are the best....thanks for trading sleep for us all...lol again thanks im gonna enjoy this
Is swap enabled?
find out for yourself!
why in the hell would u need swap?
lol thats where im sitting, i see no need for anything more than we already have... minus an OC kernel that goes past 691 lol
Will try this later when I get home. I don't wanna have to start fresh while I'm at work.

Swap makes your phone run twice as fast as the Nexus One!
I was kidding guys, hence the smiley next to my question...
Sorry, old habit, back in the G1 days we used to do that sarcastically because we knew a noob would ask it sooner or later. That or anything else that was obviously stated in the OP.
ok ok I'll do my part and keep the clutter down.. Happy Friday
Just flashed this and it is running smooth...
The app SUFBS force closes everytime I open it, and I cannot sign into my gmail account over wifi...
Went back to mr1v4 because needed a working camera/camcorder. Gonna give this a shot, thanks CR!
try signing in via mobile then connecting wifi after signed in?
just got my 1st random reboot.....runs smooth tho lol

yes I am able to sign in over mobile, I was just reporting any bugs I find...
I'm getting alot of fc on apps that I let google reinstall from backup. Gonna try wiping ext and reinstalling apps...
Re the whole swap debate....
I know cyanogen's position is that it increases latency to have swap on anything but the lowest memory devices (aka the g1).
That being said, I run a swap partition on my duel core ubuntu machine with 8gb of memory.
I don't know, but would suspect the only reason not to run swap on every device has to do with the lower read / write speeds on sdcards.
Fwiw my slide *felt* faster using a 96meg swap partition / swapper (paid app) / and a class 6 sdcard.
Much appreciated chief, I know from twitter you had some other personal events to celebrate so extra thanks for careing enough about us to push this out so fast.

Installed from ROM Manager, install was smooth. All apps restored from market and tested fine with no FC so far.
Thanks for the hard work CR, really appreciate it!

If you're going to run swap, which I don't particularly recommend on a mobile device, I *highly* recommend splurging on a class 10 sdcard.

ok so after checking wiki on class ratings for sd cards, im seeing class 2 has a 16 mbps rating for write, class 6 has 48 and class 10 has 80.. most all of us are using the 8 gig class 2 that came with our phones, and it would cost a pretty penny to jump up to class 10 but would it really be worth it?

It's only worth it if you're doing a lot of read/write access to your card via swap or some other process. I simply bought mine to be on the bleeding edge of solid-state mini memory. My class 10 16 GB card cost me about $100 when it came out. Probably a bit cheaper now.
First off here's what I am running:
GSBv1.5
Cache2Cache
Clocked using the overclocker in the cyanogenmod settings at
Max - 729
Min - 245
Gov - Smartass
I was just wondering, if I have a lot of stuff of my sd card, can this affect the speed of my Eris ? It's probably a stupid question but I was just wondering because I copied all the contents of my sd card onto my laptop then formatted my sd card and flashed Tazz Gingerbread v5 and it seemed pretty fast. Then I added my music back onto the card and my nandroid backup plus some other stuff and now regardless if I use Tazz's GB or Workshed's GB, they both seem really laggy and slow almost to the point where it seemed like the 2.2 roms were faster. Anyone got any input on this ? I mean I could understand maybe the bootup taking a little while because it's trying to read all the files and stuff but would it really make the overall functionality of the device a little slower ? Any tips on making my phone faster like getting rid of apps and stuff like that. I'm really confused because my device (other than the apps that come with the rom) only has 7 apps installed !!! Here are the apps I have installed other than what came on the roms
Advanced Task Killer
Angry Birds (of course)
Camera360 Ultimate
Minimalistic Text
Wireless Tether for Root Users
XDA's App
Zedge
My battery life has also took a change for the worse (only lasting about 6 hours of regular use). I'm thinking the cause for this might be because I didn't wipe the batt stats when I flashed the rom. Hopefully someone can help me out because my phone is really delayed now and draining the battery pretty fast. Thanks guys !!!

Hi, Corporal Hicks. Aliens fan or actual military man? Anyway, you didn't say whether you installed the apps to your SD card or not, which would certainly affect the speed, especially for things that run constantly (not an expert opinion) and on boot.
One other possibility is file fragmentation. I don't know if it would be that fragmented after doing a fresh format and copying things over, though. Raxco PerfectDisk only says I have 5% fragmentation right now, and I haven't reformatted my SD card since perhaps September or so.
Maybe if the directory information (the FAT/File Allocation Table) itself is quite fragmented that would attribute to the slowdown you are noticing, making it take so long to go through the SD card's list of files.

Actual military, stationed in Hawaii for now. 25th ID! Anyway, no I didn't install any apps to the card and oddly enough I wanted to check it again to make sure. So again I deleted everything from my card and reformatted and again it was blazing fast. I'm confused, maybe a virus on my card or something ?

I was in 1AD.
I doubt if it's a virus. Since I haven't tried either CM7 ROM, and I'm not even on CM6 right now, I don't remember if they default to "Automatic" as far as the location of application installs. Might be worth checking in the CM settings, just in case you didn't realize that some got installed to the card without you explicitly telling it to.
Of course, if the phone slows down after copying things back to your SD card (not an .android-secure folder, though, I hope) before you install any apps, then you know it's not because of installing apps. I would then only copy HALF of the things back to the SD card, instead of all, and see if it slows down.
Then as a comparison, I would only copy the OTHER half (after another fresh format) and again see if it slows down. If it slows down both times, then I don't know where to go from there unless you really feel like breaking it down further, like into quarters.
If only one of the two halves causes the phone to slow down, further cut that half into two, and only try one of those quarters at a time and test again. Time consuming, but all depends on how much you want to know and how much impact it makes on you.
Just to preface a couple of things:
I am not a developer.
I have never written code, a ROM, a Kernel, Theme, etc
I am just a regular Flashaholic that has been tinkering with Android since the OG EVO
I have about 300+ apps and games that I always restore to every ROM I run (What can I say, I am a Amazon Free App Whore and like to play games)
I have a Class 4 SanDisk 32 GB Micro SD card installed
If you are like me, you like to have the latest and the greatest on your phone and have been trying to find a good, stable build of Sense 3.5 for the EVO 3D. I have had issues with almost every Sense 3.5 ROM out there for the EVO 3D. Once I get everything flashed and restored, I get the dreaded bootloops every minute or so.
I tried most of the latest versions of 3.5 ROM's out there: Eternity, Hydro, Prime XL, AndroTech, etc. Every single one of them had issues with bootlooping (even though most people were saying it was a stable build) and I tried everything, fixing permissions, flashing a new kernel, wiping everything and starting fresh, etc. Nothing seemed to fix the issue. I got a few different suggestions to fix the issue. "It must be an incompatible app", "Try a different kernal", "Do a fresh flash and restore", "Don't restore data from the apps on Titanium Backup", etc. Nothing seemed to work. So, for the last week or two I have been playing around with different options trying to narrow down the issue.
The normal steps I would go through to get a new ROM setup (THIS CAUSED BOOTLOOPS):
Wipe Data, Cache and Dalvik 3 to 4 Times Each
Run Chad's Modified SuperWipe 2-3 times
Flash Sense 3.5 ROM
Reboot
Let it settle without logging into any accounts or restoring anything
Reboot to Recovery
Flash New Kernel (If desired)
Reboot and let settle
Reboot to Recovery
Flash Amaze Camera (If desired)
Reboot and let settle
Log Into Google (let sync), Log Into FB (let sync), log into all accounts (let sync)
Restore apps only (no data) through Titanium Backup
Let settle
Move all apps (that can be moved) to the SD card with App2SD Pro Application
The ROM might run fine for a little while, then BOOTLOOP
The last time I did this was 2 days ago on Prime XL Sense 3.5 and the same thing happened. I noticed that the phone would only bootloop when the application icons on the SD card started populating into the application drawer (meaning that the system was gathering them off of the SD card for use). Instead of wiping everything and starting over, I simply Uninstalled all applications with Titanium Backup and the bootloops stopped.
The steps I have taken since that have not caused a bootloop and have allowed me to reboot without issues:
Restored about 30 apps at a time all less than 30 Mb each
Moved only games under 30 Mb each to the SD Card through the HTC Low Storage Wizard
Installed a couple of 40+ Mb games like Blood & Glory and Bejeweled and did not move them to the SD card
With this process, I have been running Prime XL for more than 12 hours with only one random reboot and no bootloops. I can restart my phone with no issues.
I then moved a 40+ Mb game to my SD card and tried to reboot. Guess what, I got bootloops. I had to uninstall all the applications off of my SD card in between the 1 minute bootloops (took a few boots to get them all uninstalled since you have to do it through the Settings-->Applications-->SD Card menu). Once I got all of them off of my SD card, the bootloops stopped and I restored those applications again without the large game on my SD card and rebooted just fine. I repeated this again with a different app that was 40+ Mb and the same thing happened.
Like I said in the preface, I am no developer, coder, themer, etc. (Just a guy trying to figure out a problem), but it seems that the issue with these bootloops lies in reading large applications or games off of the SD card. It might also be the combination of having a lot of apps on the SD card and the larger app/game as well. It has nothing to do with anything else in the ROM as far as I can tell.
Hopefully a good dev can read this and find a way to fix the issue with whatever script is causing the problem. I think I have isolated the issue since the only thing that changed causing the bootloops was the larger app/game that I moved to the SD card.
It might help the devs if some other people can reproduce this issue and confirm what I am saying is correct for more than just me.
I have also tried this on Virus' Eternity 3.5 and Hydro 3.5 with similar results.
well let me ask you this...
are you the only one getting bootloops? seems if you are getting the same problem with every build, the issue is something you are doing. you should try getting a class 10 sd card or something with a much higher read capability and see if the issue goes away.
also...
cool story bro. and should i flash this from recovery? is a full format required before i flash???? oh wait.. wait..
also also...
it must take you years to flash a new rom... i dont understand the whole "let the phone settle" theory. as soon as i boot up i start logging into my accounts and sending text messages, browsing the web, using the phone. never had an issue that was traced back to "didnt let the phone settle" lol
in any case, i think you may be on to something here with this, but like i said the issue is isolated to your unique usage. flash a 3.0 rom like clean rom, go through that whole dragged out install process again, same scenario, set up, everything, and see if you get bootloops.

I'm not the only one getting bootloops. I have read the same issue with people getting bootloops in every Sense 3.5 ROM all over this forum. I have been flashing for about a year now and usually flash a new ROM every week or two. I used to not go through that extended process, but I have been trying different things to get 3.5 stable. I was more trying things that I have heard. (like letting it settle) I don't think it really does anything, but it can't hurt.
I don't have this issue with Sense 3.0 buddy. I usually just wipe everything once, Superwipe once and then flash and restore and with Sense 3.0 it works fine. I tried that with Sense 3.5 and got bootloops. So like I said in the OP I started trying different things. The list of what I did just shows that I was being extremely careful.
Trust me, it is not the process or the SD card, because I have never had this issue with any other type of ROM besides Sense 3.5 and I am not the only one experiencing the bootloops.
Also, Class on an SD card is not an exact measurement. A Class 4 can be better than a Class 10 because the manufacture measures the speed differently or as a best case scenario instead of consistent performance. See Wikipedia info below:
"The Speed Class Rating is the official unit of speed measurement for SD cards. The class number guarantees a minimum write speed as a multiple of 8 Mbit/s (1 MB/s). The SD Association defines several speed class ratings, but manufacturers may claim conformance to those ratings without independent verification."
"is not as specific as Speed Classes are on how to measure speed. Manufacturers may report best-case speeds and may report the card's fastest read speed, which is typically faster than the write speed."
I would say it has to be an issue with you restoring from titanium backup. If you are doing it In a batch and your like me there are some sense 3.0 apks in my backups. If you batch restore anything that doesn't play nice with sense 3.5 it doesn't matter.if you are restoring data or not.at that point

Word. That makes a little more sense then… and yes I am familiar with the difference between class rating and read speeds. In my personal experience, sandisk and PNY are the two that consistently rate their cards accurately. I only use PNY myself… anyways, back on topic…
Like somebody else suggested before this, you should try not using titanium back. Try these two things…
1 ) uninstall ALL data/app/ files (basically all of your apps you add with TB)… run the ROM for a few days, see if you get reboots. Run processor at stock frequencies, etc etc… as STOCK as possible for a few days (other than you having a custom ROM obviously.)
2 ) re-install apps, and do it manually, 1 by 1, with root explorer (reason is because root explorer is faster when doing it manually) and do not backup, restore, any kind of data whatsoever. You just want .apks. do not install any of them to the SD card.
3 ) move larger apps to the SD card
4) move all apps possible to the sd card
The point here is to change one dimension of your functioning ROM one phase at a time so you can easily pinpoint what is causing your issues. Very detailed process of elimination is key when trouble-shooting anything. For each one of these steps, wait a couple days to move to the next one. The longer you go without having a problem, the more likely it is that a problem showing itself after the next phase was indeed caused by that phase.
I am suspicious of TB, to be honest… I would start by removing that app out of your daily routine. I have used my backup root since it was released and still never had an issue… the one time I used TB, had force closes, odd little un-explained issues… it just isn’t as simple as my backup root, and simplicity is what you want when using apps that backup all your ****. The more cut and dry, the better.
Good luck

Wasn’t trying to be a douche about it.. but I guess it did kind of come off that way, haha. Sorry if I was a little bit critical in my comments… not intended, just how I communicate sometimes – forward and in black and white.
Anyways, to the OP, hopefully you are able to get somewhere with the input of my post… trouble-shooting can be annoying but the key is to be patient and do things in increments.
and i didnt come here spouting "oooo wrong section wrong section..." because thats not my job and i didnt want to come off like a douche... i try to contribute and not be so critical, but sometimes i just am.
I got a quick question why move apps to the SD card to begin with? The phone has massive amounts of internal storage.(why app2sd is left out of many ROMs for the 3vo)
I would rather have the SD space for roms, tweaks, music etc. I'm with you with the games and etc. I use a ton of different apps, I also store any apps I think I might use later on my SD card in uninstalled apk form...
An example is a Craigslist app I use, I rarely use it, so I install and uninstall as needed. And I've read that titanium backup doesn't play nice with batch operations.. just my 2 cents, and thanks for your post, I was gonna flash a sense 3.5 ROM tonight, not even gonna bother with it now.

Can't be that, when I restore whatever apps from TB and don't move them to the SD card they are fine and the phone does great. It only happens when I move apps to the SD card. Shows that it doesn't have anything to do with the apps themselves, but something with Sense 3.5 reading them from my SD card.

Yes, it has 1GB of internal storage, but it is not enough when you have around 300 apps and games (Plants vs Zombies, Blood & Glory, Peggle, All the Angry Birds, etc) they go well above the 1 GB internal. I have to move to SD to get them all on there. I don't us A2SD, I just move them to the SD card through the standard process.
Update:
I hit a random reboot and then when it rebooted I started getting bootloops again even without moving the large apps/games to the SD card. So the process in the OP is not a fix, it just worked for a while.
However, when it was in between bootloops, I unmounted the SD card and they stopped.
The issue has to be something with the SD card being read by Sense 3.5 because I have never had this issue with Sense 3.0. What I am trying now is Formatting the SD card and the Partition on the SD card and starting fresh. Only going to move my pics and Nandroids back to the SD card. Hopefully a fresh SD card will allow me to move the apps over there and make things all good. Not to optimistic, but keeping my fingers crossed.
Found the solution!!
Ok, so after playing around with all this stuff for a long time and trying different things, I found out that if you move more than 59 apps (so 60 or more) to the SD card, you will get boot loops on Sense 3.5 if you move 59 or less everything works fine.

dude, stop spamming the forums with simplistic questions. just try the ROM out, make a nandroid backup before you flash. questions like these are what people think will be the death of xda.

Yes quit spamming, I've answered you before too.
Same as that always have had since about jellybean 4.1.x ROMs
Approximately
373 mb memory
591 mb /system
You still have the approx. 1.5 gb storage too, its just now partitioned differently.
Here are some posts referencing the changes that were made.
Just as i said earlier around jb 4.1 (cm 10) ( or about August-December 2012 ) is when the second wave of partitioning happened, previously with cm7 it changed too.

Ultimately should result in more available storage than there originally was with datadata, though.
Could be a little choppy as they nail it down though. I figured the least we could do was help them troubleshoot it, so I added it.

Thanks for doing a build with those changes. Things work well on the fascinate as-is. Right now just fine tuning things so that device encryption will work and fixing the layout for gsm devices.
These changes are similar to what der teufel has been doing with his ROM, though the layout is just a little different.
Basically the OneNAND space currently used for /data will be changed to /datadata, and 2 partitions on the eMMC will be combined and split into 2 logical volumes, one for /system, the other for /data. This will give 400mb for /system, 468mb for /datadata, 1.33gb for /data, and 128mb for /cache.
This will give the user much more room for apps/etc, will still keep the speed benefits for having writable data on the OneNAND, and leave plenty of room for android upgrades. Only downside I can see is that user data will be wiped during the update.

from JT posts...:::
The nightly builds are using the exact same base code and kernel that my builds have used.
As for compatible kernels, you'll have to ask the other respective developers. I don't have the time to keep up with what everyone else is doing.
Dalvik cache is relocated to a separate partition
The best part about squashing bugs is feeling their exoskeletons crunch and the juices squeeze out. I've squashed bugs relating to the device reporting the wrong BT MAC address (should fix BT tethering) and the video camera flash. Working on fixing the torch app (cuz I like it). Yes, I've been drinking. Thank you to anyone who has donated recently, I can now consume a bit of alcohol and somewhat escape the 2 extremely stressful jobs that I work at 65+ hours a week.
That said, to answer some FAQ's I'll answer this one time:
System and data partitions have been SWAPPED. The I500 has 2 internal memory chips. The OneNAND (that Samsung ships for system and other storage) and the eMMC (that Samsung ships for data and cache storage). The OneNAND is a total of 512mb and contains system, along with the kernel and recovery images, bootloaders, etc. The eMMC is ~1.5gb and is used for data storage. In the newest builds, system is now stored on the eMMC, data is stored on the OneNAND, and cache has been moved to /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 which is a previously unused (by us, used by Samsung/Vzw for their stupid paid apps like tetris and other bull****) that is on the eMMC. This eliminates the "lag" experienced in earlier builds due to the fact that write speeds on the OneNAND are extremely faster than write speeds on the eMMC (Samsung should've never shipped those stupid, ****ty-ass chips to begin with).
This means that with the bootloaders, kernel, etc there is only 468mb left for data storage, along with a ****load of extra storage available for system. This is bad due to the fact we have less data storage space, and good due to the fact the device now performs much better and future versions of android will have plenty of system space available to them. Just the upgrade from ICS to JB alone requires nearly an additional 100mb of space for system. If you're running low on data storage, either move apps to the sdcard, or if you're crafty enough, move certain apps to /system/app. Things like updated Google apps (Market, Maps, etc) are perfectly fine working from /system/app, and can conserve lots of space. Attemping to do other trickery like place certain chunks of data onto the eMMC without impacting performance is both difficult to maintain and a pain the ass to come up with anyways. It is what it is, and it'll stay that way.

This is something I'm wondering for some time now:
I still love my Evo 3D and do not feel at all like replacing it, but in comparison to newer models there are two big problems:
1. The limited amount of internal space is forcing me to delete apps from time to time, although I move them quite regularly to the SD card (I'm not sure why, but if I have too many apps installed they cannot be updated anymore)
2. The phone gets very slow if I don't clean the cache regularly. I assume that this is due to the small internal storage, too.
So basically my idea was that maybe if I buy a very fast 64GB micro-SD and somehow manage to boot from it, the OS would have mor than enough space. Is it realistic to assume that my problems would be solved this way? Or isn't it worth the try? Or do you maybe have another solution?
I've been working on rom2sd and data2sd. I use v6 Turbo charger scripts keeps from slowing down.
Data partiton is small, compared to current phones

Thank you for your answer. You seem to have a good point. Unfortunatly I don't know how you got data2sd to work. Do you maybe have a link for me?
I'm working on it, did work yet had security errors
