Help with my eris - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im on the 3rd step of the 1.5 to 2.1 walk threw. I installed the usb package and java and I pushed the usb debugging on my eris.but my phone wont show when I go to the device manager any help would be great.

If I remember correctly, and if I understand you correctly, I think that I had some issues with HTC Sync interfering and had to remove it from my computer, then work with the phone.. I don't know why that happened but I remember something like that...

Thanks i did a factory reset on my phone all good it shows up with a yellow? and a triagle inside is a ! is and it says abd.

[Q] *(NOOB ALERT)* As Serious As A Heart Attack!!!

Well Some of you guys will be surprised that i am writing about an actual concern of mine. BOOBIES!!! Now that that is out of the way.. I currently operate a Samsung Vibrant T-959 with (ROM)(PORT)Simply Galaxy 2.7XE SweeyHoney.ZSJPJ W/OverStock-v2.2.1 And a Ka7 Kernel Wich is a port from the Samsung International series I9000.
My problem is that every computer i connect to, doesnt recognize my device. Ive tried installing new drivers as well as re-flashing the rom, and still my device is not recognized. I have noticed that within the rom im using, there is a ".prop Editor" in SGHToolS. I see that if i knew what i was doing i might be able to change everything that says I9000 to T-959 (which every computer recognized)
Ive done some researching about "prop Editor" and i havent left feeling confident about messing with it. Im sorry if there was a post that expressed this concern in the past, i haven't found one but that doesnt mean its not here. So in closing, Thank you And HELP ME PLEASE!!... And remember, we all where noobs at some point
You need to download the AIO toolbox on the computer you are using and Install the drivers that program gives you. Its an actual button the the program that says "Install Drivers"....the drivers needed on the computer are not included in the classic driver install when you connect the phone. Even if you search the internet for the drivers (the option it gives you) it wont find the right ones.
also make sure you enable debugging (duh)

First make sure it not in Debugging mode
Then try something as simple as Settings/ Wireless and Networks/USB Settings/ask on connection or just enable Mass storage/ and it will pop up with a selection of accepting it and then your phone will be mounted!
I have a T959 Vibrant just like you,and Im running about the same ROM as you, and Im having no problems using WIN XP PRO 32 bit OS on my lappy! The ROM detects the phone as a GT-I9000 but I still can still mount it, or have a port appear if i use ODIN, or BayWolfs program etc!

Thats what i would normaly do... but when i plug it in, my phone doesnt even give me the option of that.. My phone just thinks its charging while in computer :/
This happened to my girlfriends phone last week...she is running bionix 1.3.1.....i thought something was wrong so i re-installed the ROM to no avail. I gave up for the night.
The next day i plugged it in to the computer...and boom....worked fine. I dont know what caused it...but after a day it worked fine for me after doing essentially nothing.
maybe try going into recovery and reflashing your Kernel (tigersblood overstock whatever) then fix the permissions and wipe cache partition. and reboot.
just an idea but it may work.

[Q] Rezound problem with Unlocking and rooting

I have a problem with using HTC dev.
After pressing Fast boot and plugging it into my computer and my computer (windows 7) makes an error sound. I thought nothing of it and continued, when it came to the time when i had to get the identifier token, it didn't show.
Instead it said "Waiting for Device".
I googled it and i found a page, I uninstalled HTC sync and it still came with the same result.
Might there be something wrong with my drivers? If so how can i fix it?
Please help me , i wanna get back into rooting after leaving the iP4.
Thanks
Did you have HTC Sync enabled while you had the phone connected to your computer? If so, it should have been disabled.
Have you made sure you have the necessary drivers installed?, I had the same problem I think and this was my problem (I think), also did you restart your computer after uninstalling HTC Sync? Cause (I think ) it has to be disabled for the DEV unlock to work.
I had the exact same problem when trying to unlock the bootloader on my Rezound, I tried everything that was mentioned above and had no luck. But the second I used my friend's computer to do it all, it worked perfectly fine. I don't know why but for some reason my computer just would not recognize the device in fastboot no matter what I did. Hope this helps.
While the drive is connected, get to the devices screen.
You should see an Android section.
Right click on the device listed under Android. Click uninstall.
Unplug the device and wait for the device list to update. The Android section should disappear.
Now plug in the device again, and it should load the device driver again.
Give it a sit.shot after that.

[Q] unroot ruu not working??

Hi, I've searched around the forum, but i don't see any solutions. Am trying to run the unroot ruu, but I keep getting error code "171", telling me basically, that it can't find my phone, that it is not plugged in, i think. I really need to take it in for warranty repair, cause I am having serious issues with the proximity sensor.
Any idea guys?
Do u have the drivers installed, debug on, charge only mode enabled? It has been a while since I did the ruu, so some of those steps may be over kill

All of the above are done. i rooted fine from this computer, the message tells it's a usb connection error.

I would try downloading the drivers again. Download htc sync which will download drivers also. Then go into control panel>uninstall programs and then uninstall htc sync. Drivers will remain. Then plug phone in again and see if computer sees phone.
http://www.htc.com/www/software/htc-sync-manager/
Doc
When I was doing this I had to install the drivers twice. When the RUU attempts to reboot into the bootloader, if you have device manager open, you can see that it drops out and no longer recognizes your phone and you'll see a device with a yellow exclamation point next to it.
So, next time you try when it reboots into the bootloader load the drivers quickly (same way you have before). If you're fast enough it'll continue the RUU process. If you're not fast enough, oh well, the RUU should just work when you try it again.
ok, so when i rooted, i couldn't get the root to run on my desktop (almost bricked it I thought) cause it kept saying "too many devices" and it would get stuck. then got this crazy idea to do it from my laptop and voila! it worked flawlessly first time. Then when I started having issues with the proximity sensor and going back for warranty I had to unroot, right?
Only this time, no matter what I could not get the ruu to run on my laptop. So again, this crazy idea says go to the desktop and voila! it worked! I think that is too friggin " weird!
So I am good now, thanks!
I had a problem with running the RUU to unroot the other day, and the thing that fixed it was turning off my antivirus software for some reason..

getting frustrated...idk what i am doing wrong

This is the 3rd time i have tried S-off my Evo V. To be honest, idk why i am bothering with it because the radio issue is annoying but it fixes itself within a minute or two.
But i'm unlocked via HTC dev, i'm rooted and i am using JMZstock odex rom and i am following the directions here(at least i think i am)
Unlimited.IO
I do step 10 and everything is there.
I run controlbear...it does it's thing...after it finds the fourth file, it reboots the phone and then loads for 45 seconds
and then it keeps saying
Hmm, still no device
Open device manager and check adb and/or fastboot drivers!!
I can't get past this.
I am using a Windows 7 laptop....i read somewhere to try a different USB port and i have 3 and i've tried all 3 but i have no clue what to do.
Do you have USB debugging enabled in settings? Also if you have HTC sync installed on your PC uninstall it. Also iTunes if it is on there. These programs will interfere with the wire trick process. Make sure your stock ROM with superuser too.

Yeah i had the usb debugging enable and i uninstalled HTC Sync and for good measure i also got rid of Motodrive/Moto cast and Samsung Kies from when i had my razr and gs3.
I have no clue what is going on though and why i get stuck after it finds the 4th device.
There is a specific version of controlbear for Evo V (VM), use that.
Also, you need an RUU for your device in order to S-OFF.
None of the other ROMs will work for Evo V.

"Connect to PC" doesnt work anymore

Damn, damn, damn!!!
I just fiddled around with "Startup Manager Pro" and right after this, i cannot use "Connect to PC" anymore.
It just doesnt appear anymore in the statusbar when i plug the phone in.
I reverted all the changes i made, but it still doesnt work. Deleted data for "Connect to PC", doesnt work.
Already read a similar thread about this, some suggest clean rom install, some suggest ticking "ask me", reboot, unticking, reboot and so on
but it doesnt work for me.
USB-Tethering and usb-mounting in cwm still works fine, so i dont think its a connection-related problem.
running mysense, i dont want to reinstall my phone from scratch
any ideas? :silly:
Install HTC Sync and uninstall it again. It will automatically install the drivers needed to connect to the PC
havent installed htc-sync ever before, just the driver package HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe and it worked so far
already reinstalled the driver package, no change
so imho the driver package should be enough, no need for htc-sync if you ask me?!?
i also saw a unrecognized usb-device found while restarting the phone, but after it fully booted the device disapeared?!?
but hey, will give htc-sync a try, at least its a straw to catch, thanks

Hm, that's weird...
Did this problem only occur on the mysense ROM?

well, the problem appeared after i fiddled around with startup manager pro (and reverting the stuff i did), it worked very well before with mysense, so im pretty sure it will be gone if i install mysense or any other rom clean.
think i'll do a nandroid backup and restore my apps via titanium backup pro, if everthing else fails.
guess thats the burden when you choose android with fully root over an ios-driven device, if you f*ck up something on your phone its your own fault and you have to deal with it
Something is not running on the phone..Check whether the restart is happening properly...else remove battery and switch it on...
I hope you said once you connected the USB cable...you are not getting the option of connecting your device to PC..mean charge or USB mode..
