Hey guys, as you may heard, an SDK is released for developers to add to their applications which allows user to do multi-touch things on a device which is equipped with a resistive touch screen, just like our Topazes. Well, it makes us able to do pinch and zoom, rotate to exit and such things. WHAT WE NEED is great application developers to add this SDK to applications just like Manila. Your co-work will be pleased. Here's the link to the thread:
[SDK] Dual-Touch SDK for Resistive Screens V1.0 Beta + Rotation Alpha + Demo App
Regards.
NO ONE??!
Oh, you mean no one is interested??! I got disappointed! It would be a great work to enable multi touch in manila 2.5 for resistive screens...

you cant pinch and zoom a resistive screen, it just thinks you're single touching in between your fingers, try it. This isn't about waiting for a dev kit, it's just beyond the capacity (lol capacitive) of a resistive screen.
edit - I know what SDK you're talking about, and I don't see it being accurate, sorry.
Likewise, I cannot imagine it being possible. It is simply physically incapable of that and may use algorithm instead which may give inaccurate reading.

Then watch this:
Watch SDK Demo Application Video
It's simple: It simulates multi touch. When you point with finger #1 and then after point finger #2, device holds the first point and drags a line from that point to where finger #2 is. And then after releasing finger #2 it returns to finger #1's point. You can see it through notes or manila slider. That's how this SDK came out. It simulates this lining thing and makes device think you are doing multi touch. That's how you can Pinch and Zoom or Rotate to Exit like capacitive screen. But I agree. Since device can't recognize tow different points at the same time (like you said it's technically impossible for a resistive screen) we can't hope for a complete multi touch functioning. But at least we can do those two things I mentioned above.
i find multi-touch useless...its just a 'fancier' way to do things but really its easier the conventional way on ur/my phone. ei: the zoom bar on my htc pure.
i saw the lock video demo but its just faster and easier to lock ur phone the way everyone usually does it rather than having to put both of ur fingers onto the screen and rotating it. i guess this would really depend on wat kind of program the mutli-touch craze would really be of a benefit to. as for the programs thats been developed with multi-touch so far, i dont see much of a use for it. but thanks for making it possible for others to develop more programs with multi-touch.

i tried that long time ago and i found that it still "WORKS" if i slide my finger from 1 corner to the opposite corner. Like the above, i dun think it's practical to use this so called MULTITOUCH kit on a NOT-MULTITOUCH-SUPPORTING resistive screen.
if ppl are so fond of multitouch, they should buy a hd2 instead of trying to implement such a not-too-possible feature on the td2

That is true... But at least we can satisfy our selves that we are multi touching!! It's better than nothing!
Tell HTC to give ATT an HD2 and then you might have a point.
Question - why can't this software be put into the OS so that it just works with all apps doing it like keyboardcontrol is doing - intercept the mouse taps and then based on the application translate the multi-touches into exactly what that application needs - even repeated keystrokes etc - manila could be programmed by page or just one set for the whole app - whatever can work. That would be the killer way to get this into play asap.

Not sure why they are so negative about it, it has been done and proven even as a beta, and from the sdk that was released it seems very likely. I'm not a super cool programmer but I was working on a Mass Effect Codex and I'll try working the multitouch into it if possible, no guarantees tho

It's all great and well to claim that there is no jitter etc on a "standard" resistive touchscreen, but that's a tech demo, it proves nothing for us having these kinds of results, EVEN if that is their goal.
also, watch the video you posted, the guy says it CANNOT be adapted to current touchscreens, it's an additional specification that they implement by working with major screen makers

Thank you for your co-working. I'm a programmer too (C++ language) and I can help.
although multitouch is a great feature , but guys , we have a cool zoombar , that using it is a lot easier than using the screen.

OK, Here is the deal.
I have created a working XdaLive Screen Lock for the XdaLive Live Wm6.
This is similar to the iphone with a working Sliding Unlocker. Only I put the sliding unlocker on the top and used XdaLive image as the Background & put the Digital Clock and Date at the Bottom as you can see in the Image I attached.
FINAL WORKING LIST:
1. Battery Life
2. NEW SMS Counter
3. Active Tasks
4. New Emails
5. OWNER NAME DISPLAY.
(TODO: A LOT OF THINGS LIKE ADDING MORE FUNCTIONALITY, FIX A LOT OF LITTLE THINGS & NEED TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO READ REGISTRY KEYS with SPACES in BETWEEN ANY HELP? ONE THING IS TO NOT HAVE THE APPLICATION QUIT ON END BUTTON (FIXED!).)
Another thing:
----------------------
Does anyone know how to replace the default Lock with this one? I tried replacing the DeviceLock.exe with this one and it does not work. BSDeviceLock.exe does not exist in WM6 either.
WAS A LITTLE OUT OF IT BECAUSE OF JACK DANIELS. HENCE THE BLACK SLIDER
DUE TO A LOT OF PEOPLE WANTING TO TEST THIS, I DECIDED TO JUST PUT THE FILES IN THE OPEN AS I WORK WITH THEM. LIKE DAILY SNAPSHOP OF THE EXECUTABLES (WHENEVER I WORK ON THEM)
THIS IS A PRE-PRE BETA OPEN TEST RELEASE AND NOT PACKAGED.
UNZIP AND PUT THE FILES IN A FOLDER. THE DLL & THE EXECUTABLE HAVE TO BE IN THE SAME FOLDER
REQUIREMENT: FLASH ACTIVEX (NOT FLASH LITE)
ZIP FILE DESCRIPTIONS:
--------------------------
1. xdaLiveScreenLock.zip (XDA LIVE UNLOCKER)
2. SliderLock.zip (JACK DANIELS BLACK SLIDER)
*****MORE IMPORTANCE WAS GIVEN FOR LOOKS RATHER THAN FUNCTIONALITY WHEN STARTING THIS.****
not responsible for anything that might happen by using this little useless application. There are a lot of small glitches usability wise, else works good. preference was given to aesthetics more than anything else. The size is big due to the sliding component being created in flash.
ADDED A 240X240 SLIDER. THIS HAS NOT BEEN TESTED AS I DO NOT HAVE A 240X240 Device.
.
this looks excellent, good job! I have been wondering about that also, devicelock is signed is it not?
Anyone know of a generic wrapper with basic API calls that I can call from within this Flash Application?
edit: compiled own from source code found, change adopted and compiled.
Hi,
i don't really use the device lock... because when turning the phone in standby all key's are locked and i don't want that the screen is always on...
or is there any other significance about using the device lock??

WOW the progress of this is really good sir, youve managed to implement a few more features since i last looked. This will definatly be in the Extras wiki page once it is fully working
I thought about what you could do in respect to replacing the standard lock, disable the lock in the today settings and map this program to a hardware button (5??) How does it fair after a power off (just standby not fully off) as it would be a good way to check the time etc... in the night?
keep up the good work CD, quite a few people are waiting for something like this.
Heya all gurus, give tha man a little help with issues maybe?
Thanks Ppl.
This is something I have been wanting to do for a while now but just got around to doing it. Hopefully in a couple days I will have everything squared out.
I am wondering if I should let ppl test this out. I will also have changeable backgrounds for this.

Would love a slider unlocker as a today plugin. I use the WMP plugin since I use my phone as an mp3 player a lot so the device lock function on the today screen is a must for me.
Great work and look forward (hopefully) to a today plugin.

Actually, in HTTP requests it's %20 w/o the percent sign at the end, and it simply means 0x20, which is hexadecimal 20 or decimal 32, which indeed is a space. I highly doubt that it would be useful in accessing the registry, though.
I don't see why a space doesn't work as just a space when accessing the registry. Perhaps escape it with a backslash (or two)?

This is the original Link to a working TouchFlo (Alpha) I am currently testing on the Athena using VGA 96 DPI and the AP/PK's latest v2.0. I have included a zip folder of selected screen shots. I first found this link outside the forum, then learned that other devices on the forum are already working with it.
The program is installed via two CAB files, one installs Adobe FlashLite, the other is Szabi CubeLauncher. Perform a soft reset after loading. Launching is currently to a 'Home Screen' Start>Programs>CubeLaunch. The home background is a bit suggestive, so if you would like to avoid that image, copy the attached bg.jpg to Program Files>Szabi>CubeLauncher and over write the existing file. It can be any 240x320 jpg you prefer.
When you install the CubeLauncher, you also get a CubeConfig program which lets you customize any of the 5 faces of the 'Cube' which is relally a 5-sided prism or polyhedron. Screen shots of each face are included along with one transitional rotation captured.
TouchFlo has been on of the hottest topics around the forum with nearly every device scrambling to cook it into ROMS. Up to now, cooking was necessary as the base applications from the HTC Touch are dll driven. Since this application is Flash(tm) enabled, there is no need for booting with the dll's.
Launching from the home screen is much like the HTC Touch, with an UPWARDS swipe of the finger from the bottom or middle part of the screen. Sides are rotated forward and back with sideways swipes as you would intuitively expect. You can also open and close the cube with a single stylus poke in the bottom center of the screen. Close from the home screen by touching the lower right signal bar.
The first page is a 6 application program launcher followed by a twelve slot phone contacts photo gallery on page two. Page three is a 6 app media page while page four is primarily for MS Office Apps. Page five is yours to play with.
The developer's web site is in Chinese, but the translation indicates that trials of the demo and feedback are welcomed. You can download the demo at the following Link: Http://rapidshare.com/files/54065589/Szabi-CubeLauncherICON.rar
It is not a finished work (yet) but it is getting close. Please provide your thoughts and interest so the the Project Team can assess wether or not to work on this for our devices. As you will see, we can easily do more with VGA quality backgrounds and icons, but the basics are definitely there.
Kind Regards to the Developer

I would like if it is compatible with ROM Black Touch AP2
If you need not change the dpi i am all up for it!
would someone be super kind and put on a direct link or something else than rapid share, coz i can't use that from my company
Installed on my X7500 WM6 ITA with 96dpi setting, here they are my considerations:
1. Graphic should be improved with an appropriate resolution of images used to build the interface. (I hope I can do it by maself)
2. Scrolling works well even if touching feedback should be more reactive on striping finger over display
3. Not all the applications link work. I hope I can customize by myself
4. Home screen works fine, images resolution apart.
Nothing I can say about RAM and battery usage...still testing it.

Tested with 128 DPI Settings and it looks and works the same, regardless of the font. Some of the demo apps are not set to the correct file links, however using the CubeConfig module, this is easily corrected. I just went through each screen and tested what worked an what didn't, then ran the CubeConfig and changed the broken links. Again, this is an (Alpha Demo) but it is working!
Bother! Was hoping you would say it didn't work

I am starting to write games for the G sensor based phones and this one has been tested on my HTC HD.
This is a project in development and I am trying to get ideas for how I can make this game a worthwhile project/something interesting.
The game is in many ways similar to the old game Asteroids... but a bit more basic. Control your yellow dot with the tilt of the phone, press on parts of the screen you want to fire. Avoid the enemy dots and try to fire at them.
I am looking for your ideas! - in particular, I am looking for suggestions on the following areas.
1. Graphics - image attachments would be amazing!
2. Score keeping
3. How to deal with lives/restarts
4. General game play - e.g. faster/slower/enemy counts & increment... anything really!
I want to make this game as simple as possible to play and very intuitive...
I look forward to any suggestions.
To install, just unzip the contents of the attachment (2 files) to any folder and then run gFire.exe. To exit the game, crash into an enemy and a button will appear to exit.
hey great idea i hope you keep it going.
I just installed it onto my hd2 but am struggling with the g sensor. i really struggle to get out of the corner with it. the response when firing is great though.

Hi all,
I had an idea for a better keyboard for the streak, but I can't find any step-by-step walkthroughs for making android keyboards. If there's one available, let me know and I should be able to tackle this.
If not, I think the streak needs a split keyboard. Imagine the left half of the keyboard on the left third of the screen, the right half on the right third, and a big numpad/d-pad in the middle third. When I'm typing in landscape mode, I know I'd appreciate minimizing my thumbs' reach.
Any takers? Or good keyboard making tutorials?

Great Idea!
If someone does make one you should add settings so you can control where the DPAD is, so you could make it like the original Dell Keyboard too!
I'm guessing you've not tried swype then?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
While we're on the subject of thumb reach, might I suggest a portrait keyboard with more keys on the left/right side, so you don't constantly mis-type those O's and P's as a leftie (for example), when using the streak one-handed?
I was thinking of a real multitouch keyboard.
First, you have the standard qwerty keyboard, with shift, enter en dpad buttons. A tab button would be cool too.
Second, if you tap and hold the keyboard (anywhere) and slide it to the left, on the right side it will reveal the nummeric keys, where you can input your numbers. Releasing the keyboard and it'll slide back in position. Slidng the other way around, gives other keys.
I'm dreaming of such a keyboard a long time now.

Hi guys- I don't know of any tutorials, but basically you need to create a custom IME (that's the term used by Android SDK). There is an android SDK example for creating an IME I believe. Also, here is the source code for a Latin keyboard IME someone made:
http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=platform/packages/inputmethods/LatinIME.git;a=summary
+1 to the initial idea.
Myself and my office mate were just discussing UI's and both of us agreed that a split keyboard option would make the streak far more ergonomically friendly and probably speed up typing.
BTW, for mocked up examples of what we are talking about see:
http://blog.laptopmag.com/wpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/google-tablet-1.jpg

http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/4/2010/01/ss_dialkeys_horiz_520.jpg
I would really love to see a keyboard like this!
Dell's 1.6 stock keyboard makes good use of the additional space instead of just making the buttons ridiculously large, but it really should be symmetric.
With smartphones getting larger and tablets on the rise it's high time for new keyboards, so I think not only the Streak would benefit from it!
All thumbs up for the idea!
Here's an idea: find a developer and start up a kickstart for this... Perhaps we could post this to the general android development forum.
Basic Version
Hey all,
Here's a basic version. It's just a slightly modified version of the soft keyboard that comes with the SDK. It's only usable it in landscape mode, unless you have really small fingers.
Any thoughts/ideas/feedback? Basic changes may be within my ability. A lot of the programming is way over my head, so if anyone wants the source to do some fancy stuff, let me know.

Works fine i would just prefer the buttons to be a bit bigger about double the size infact and would like the numbers on the end and not in the middle and the numbers a different colour but thats me other than that a great start thanks
Awesome! Some color / shading might help to distinguish between the letters and numbers and more easily find keys. May be its something you adjust to but i find myself having to search for letters.
Two other layout thoughts. 1) maybe stretching out the spacebar a bit. since thats a frequently pressed key it'd be nice to have it by the other letters and closer to the thumbs., 2) rearranging the numpad to have the zero at the bottom center as with a typical dialer numpad. This would require splitting the spacebar into two segments.
Just my 2 cents.

Ever since I've switched to Android I've always wondered if there was an app that could offer the same writing experience the iPad apps had. Papyrus was one of them, however with this screen resolution I don't enjoy it anymore.
And then I spotted this gem.
INKredible has by far the best note taking experience this tablet can offer.
The devs have just begun porting their ios app (notes plus) to Android, therefore there're not a lot of features baked into the app yet.
The app has matured pretty well over the past 1.5 years, as expected
So be sure to show your support too the devs, as it may help in speeding up this process
Download the app, make some in app purchases and make this app even greater :good:
Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.viettran.INKredible&hl=nl
I'd like to know your note taking experience with this app and how it compares to other note taking apps.
If you know an equally good(or better) one be sure to tell us aswell.
Comparable app(s):
-FiiNote (mentioned by crypta: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61466857&postcount=14)
turn-offs
slow rendering
the only pen worthwhile is the pencil pen (under paint mode) but it's not resizeable)
-S Note
Key features that have been successfully added since I posted this thread:
-Touch with finger to erase (s-pen only mode)
-Enable shape detection
-Page zoom lock (helps with accidental zooms while writing)
-PDF import support (can't be imported in an exiting notebook; in app purchase)
-Folder management
-Black paper background
-Misc. performance improvements
-(last edited 25-03-2016)
Wish list:
-Optimize the scrolling/zooming animations under Samsung ROMs, they are really jagged and jarring.
-An intuitive way to compare pages of the same/different notebook(s). Maybe a split-screen within the app.
-The ability to import pdf's within an existing notebook.
-Writing near the left and right edges triggers the app's gestures, make it ignore these gestures when using the s-pen.
-The 'Touch with finger to erase (s-pen only mode)' feature requires a tap to activate, this feels inefficient and unnecessary.

I just tried it. Its got very nice hand writing rendering, better than Papyrus and LectureNotes and on par with S-Notes. Very clean intetface. S-pen button works too (you hear that Papyrus!!!) But I dont like how you can't disable finger writing all together like Papyrus. No text input or means to cut and paste from within your notes AFAIK.
I havent been able to find any kind import functionality either which pretty much ruins it for me.
Its a great start though. I hope they continue to improve it.

Features wise its very minimalistic (I think they're trying to perfect the writing xp first), however that won't be the case for long.
I didn't realise that the spen button had a function within inkcredible , did you disable the default button action via the GMD s-pen app?
I don't really agree with it being an par with snotes, its more like the other way around.
Snotes has a decent note taking experience, if you compare it with a blackboard writing style then its without opactity variances but with thickness variances (also there are no thickness drops if you set the stroke thickness to 10 or 11). Plus ,in my opninion, INKredible feels and appears more natural.
The moment we get some more features I'll be uninstalling snotes and papyrus

I just disabled air commands. If I press the stylus button while hovering, it switches back and fours between eraser and pen. Very nice feature. I don't understand why Papyrus devs are so adament about Samsung being at fault for their lack of s-pen button support. Both Lecturenotes and now Inkredible support it now, even without GMD!

Oh I'll check that out, thanks for the tip!
With inkredible its also possible to draw a circle around a portion of text and drag and drop it to somewhere else or do some other action too the selected portion .

Great tip! Didn't know i can do that.
big potential. some delay in rendering. no possibility to maintain colors and transparency switching between different tools. could be a very interesting tool

It's great app - but it kinda doesn't recognice S Pen button for me
Could it be because I'm using Android Lollipop?

Yes, it has something to do with the samsung spen SDK not being present in cm12...though I could be wrong.
Checkout https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.sdk.spen30 .
It may have been updated for android 5.0. But the last time I checked it was for kitkat only.
Spen SDK is not required to recognise spent button presses. This functionality is built into android since android 4.0.

I have note 3 (official lollipop) and note 2014 (kitkat). the spen button switch is not working on inkredible on the note 3.
It is possible because of lollipop.
Dear friends!
I'm really appreciate for your supporting and help our small app's recognized by many more potential users. We've been working hard to make the app more useful and add features to make it works as your main note-taker app, Just hope that day coming soon.
Anyway new version is just waiting the translations and will land on the Play store in a few days.
What’s new in 1.6
- Support "Insert Image" feature
- Apply new S Pen SDK -> solve issue with Lollipop on Samsung device
- Introduce “App Settings”
- Improve selection gesture
- Many bugs fixed & improvements
- Allow rotating, grouping, lock/unlock aspect ratio, ... objects
- Allow zoom out to minimum 90%
Thank you again for your supporting
Looked at it briefly and sorry to say this, but e.g. FIINotes is far superior - at least from the productive point of View.

There's no denying it from that point of view, I've tried using it today and I can safely say that the writing experience is a dissapointment.
The mode I tried for hadwriting is called paintmode. The second brush was the most promising, however I couldn't set the thickness of it. And I don't like that standard faded thickness.
Also INKredible pens have more smoothening applied to them.
For me its pointless arguing about features until the writing experience of both apps is at an acceptable level; I didn't switch over from paper only to have a bad writing experience on a glass surface.
Compared to paper, digital writing is 'infinitely' more productive(featured). So why pick an app over another app just because it has more features (if the latter has a better writing experience).
infinite+10(features) is still infinite

Thank you for letting us know
Do you know when we'll be getting the import pdf feature?
And thats the point. The writing experience is like on glas ...on every glas surface . I dont care the looks, I need work done and Information saved.

Well I enjoy wrting on glass more then on paper nowadays, I found myself writing in a more neater way because I always correct sloppy writing due to my OCD.
So now I write more neater because of that. Also I now enjoy the low friction of glass more then the friction of paper...strangely
If I'm making smooth handwriting motions, I don't want to see jankey/jittery graphics on my glass, it just hurts my brain. That hurting trows all the features out of the window.

I know our weakness is about limit features, and we will continue develop missing feature to make the app more productive
My script makes some dope spen apps as well.
They have a calculator, spen keypad and notepad which all are dope as anything.
I have to say that Google handwriting keypad is by far the best ever made it even out matches Samsung and my script keypads.
