The iPhone has an app for a 5MP camera (obviously jailbroken) so can anyone port/make one for the TG01 or WM in general?
they probly gonna say ur stoopid but theres a way to make better mp photos with a camera , many digital cameras have that function too , it just takes more photos at a time and adds the pixels up with the right formula , and in the end its a better , clearer and more detailed picture .
i dunno if theres a program for that for winmo , but my symbian SE P910i had it , i think its needs to have access to the drivers and all that stuff ...
ohh right okay, any way we could have a look at this app you had?
wow i cant believe it myself , i found it , and also theyre actually still alive !!
http://www.photoacute.com/mobile/overview.html
edit:
u can check these examples , i can tell ya its no bs either , it really made better pics , not just more detailed but 1280*960 instead of the cameras max 640*480
http://www.photoacute.com/examples.html
edit2:
looks like they got a pc program that u feed the pics in , and it combines them the right way ... and since the tg01 has a gorgeous 9 sample 3mp multishot .... well i dont need to tell ya nothin more ...
haha thanks mate, i'll have to give it a go!

Hi,
Can some one please from this post tell me two things:
1. How is the performance of Gene? I mean is it good, ok or average?
2. To upgrade the OS by downloading any of the ROMs from this forum, do I need to USPL it (I am planning to by a HTC P3400 which is not hooked to any network - that is I will buy it from a retail outlet and pop in whatever sim I feel like)
Some one reply ASAP please
Thanks

Initially while buying the K790i, I thought camera WAS important, I no longer think so. Actually now I dont give a too penny's damn for the camera quality, any way they will never be good as a digi cam. But I was wondering if I should go for Asus P320 or HTC 3400. Becauase P320 comes with WM 6.1, also the price diff is not that much
well, the asus one does hv wm6.1 and also gps, but the screen is smaller.
which is why i would stick to gene as long as u dont need th gps. the performanmce is pretty much ok. once u start tweaking/installing then it is a delight that such a cheap phone could so so much.

Thanks for your help. Got My self Gene. For the tweaking part, will wait till I get familiar with it. I am quite confident with Vox, but a total newbie for WM Professional
i tired lots build from this forum , but always meet the problem that camera cannot do portrait self .

Unless you just invented a front facing camera for hd2, i don't think ANY rom can.

man .... you dont know the camera on HD2 back actually can do this ...
suggest you to try RAFDROID HD 4.2 first
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970731
after i tried 7 new builds this week , i still decide to go back to use it again , everything almost can work well , includes the portrait self .
for the portrait self function , MCCM V8 and other 2builds also can do ,but not stable , easy to die after portrait self .....
really hope some one can solve this problem -_-
There is no possible way to do that.
Considering that the HD2 does not have a front facing camera.
The camera app may have the option, but the phone doesn't have the hardware.

just try this build yourself first .
also there is a video demo comes from HTC phone show . they use back camera detects your face ,then hold it for 1 or 2 seconds , the camera can take photo automatically .
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AsZd4sEC2Y
even you mentioned the front camera , usually the front camera is a low quality one for video chat ,not for photography.
trust me , HTC sense really can do this . just hope some masters can refine the camera problem in sense 3.0 build , cos i found almost all sense 3.0 can not do portrait self ...

When you choose self portrait mode, you turn the back camera to you and as soon it detects your face it focus and automatically takes the picture.. only available in sense roms..

the HD2 does NOT have a front facing camera. look it up in any manual... no mention of it at all on the HD2, only a rear 5MP facing camera... and whats so different from turning the phone to yourself and taking a picture than and using a "portrait mode" feature? same thing my friend... nothing special or different
you do realize that the lady in the youtube video is the one pointing the phone to herself right? she is holding it with the rear 5MP camera facing her and shes taking a pic... where do you see a front camera working? also... i believe the DESIRE HD does have two cameras, front facing and rear facing.... so a desire rom would work on a desire and give you two camera views, you load a desire rom on your HD2 and you still have only one camera....
so no, the HD2 doesnt have a front facing camera, only 1 buddy use it as you want and please but you only got one to use on the HD2..

I really suggest you to get an English Tutor,
For now, i wonder why would you call it "Self Portrait" if you're using the Back cam.
After seeing the video, from what i come to understand is that you want the phone to automatically take photo when there is a smiling face, for that get any of the OFFICIAL STOCK desire HD build with base of 1.84 or 2.50, id suggest the latest 2.0 from sbryan in NAND or an HD build from boxmaxx.

yeah ~ i am not English speaking people ,but i can read other people's posts carefully first .
i call this function "self-portrait" ,because the name of this setting option in camera is "self portrait" , named by HTC ,not me ,please check your phone yourself.
the original desire HD phone can take your photo just by putting your face to the rear camera no need any smiling expression . for the latest builds , i tried MMCCM v8 build ,this function can work , but phone is easy to die after taken several photos . boxmaxx i aslo tried 2 builds , the rom has this option , but dosent work . so now i just re-installed the RAFDROID HD 4.2.

Yes i very well know that, own a DHD myself.
"self portrait" in HD2 forums is related to front camera as there is no front camera and there are many noobs asking for a FFC mod, also that feature of DHD is very new interms of software running on HD2, (on timescale of 2 years)
you could try pushing the camera libs and the apk itself from the rafdroid build to the froyosense build of your choice, its not necessary to be froyosense but just to mantain integrity as a failcheck.
I understand what the OP is talking about. And yes, I've used a few builds for sometime that allowed a self-portrait to be done easily. You'd just select face-detected camera shutter, select how many faces to be detected prior to the automatic shutter to be trigger and you're done. Like the OP said, it works with the rear facing camera (obviously you'd have to turn your phone around). Now, I've been using Sense 3.0 builds and I haven't bothered testing that feature. But as I recall the feature was working in quite a few Desire HD builds. It might just be me, but I found that feature somewhat buggy, as the focus didn't always work neatly. Still, I wouldn't be surprised If you found another non-sense camera app that had the same feature. Cheers.

I hadn't actually played around with the camera settings much until I spotted this thread.
It has some funky features, and the self portrait works.
I'm using [SD/Magldr] MccM HD V4.5 [DESIRE HD Sense] Perfect [kernel tyhung r5] but with the hastrain kernel so the data arrows flash.
So far I've been running it for a few months and battery use is good, and it's extremely stable.

Hello.
Can anybody tell me from his own experience which xperia of these 2 makes better photos? I know that XS has more Mpx, but i read that XP makes better photos (all in all mpx is not all what makes camera great). I could give you a link here, but it is czech web site, so probably you woulnd understand. I am owner of XS and i think that it could take better photos when i paid so much money for that.
So does anybody have experience or read something about this?

IMO, Xperia P has better image compression and hence the picture produced by it are better.
I have got Xperia S but i hate the detail what its camera gives.
Technically S > P, but in reality they're just different.
I finally found the web site, which compares these two smartphones´ cameras. I dont know if you will understand but - left photo is always XS, and right is XP - that should be enough info you need The photos themself you can compare even without language understanding
Author´s conclusion is that XP has better camera.

no! u need to understand the explanation, simply left click -> translate to English when in Chrome. to understand bout it, even a little
here (i think) important explanation:
"The second rival Xperia P does have a lower resolution of 8 megapixels, also a little slower, but the camera has a very low compression and postprocessing less aggressive in terms of noise reduction."
again, it's bcause the compression.. i've test it with other camera app, some of them makes better photo than stock camera app, and it's bigger size (the mB) in same resolution.
and ofc u can always reduce noise with applications (such as Photoshop), but u cant add details. so XS won

No, according to what you write XP won, because it has more noise, but better details due to smaller compression.

sorry, i mean detail by the megapixels. according to the web, it said: some macro photos turned out better for Xperia S, this time mostly due to higher resolution.
and i read it wrong. it's the P that has noise so sorry... i was fast read it cause the translate is bad
and for the compression, i still believe that 3rd party apps done great job in compressing (meaning: lesser compressing) than stock camera app in SXS.
and one of the reason we using android is the freedom to choose apps for certain task right? (change the dialer, change the sms apps, change home) why dont change the camera apps

Although 4MP.. the camera should be the best smartphone camera set up bar none on release (even Nokia Lumia 920 and Pureview 808).
The technical stuff you can google.. guess we will have to wait for reviews to see how good the camera set up is in real life!
Note higher MP does not necessarily mean better images!
hi, this thread is for sharing your gcam pics (i know this doesn't help in development bla bla bla),
as the stock camera app is **** ,
if edited don't forget to mention the software and the mod you used?,
here is mine , sryy for low quality ,
i used lightroom (mobile) , and urikill mod
No edit, only HDR.
well without lightroom and only hdr , the one i took look like this , maybe i overdone the image with lightroom
To Ronda (Spain)
Just cropped for the first pic.
MGC_5.3.015_4 it was on July Oreo build.
One taken while moving on a ride, came out pretty good, haven't had much time to take any more
both shots are good,
we are sure lucky that gcam works at this capacity without root , this phone rocks, stock camera app is such a disappointment , only thing it offers is just a nice working pro mod
i never found such a colour full subject in my life

The stock app has been updated today with new features, will be interesting to compare them both again.
i think in the new update they just changed the ui?, mid-low light performance is scrap as ever ?,the setting at which the stock camera performs near to gcam is while using pro mod , keeping the iso at 100 and shutter speed from 1/8 to 2 (rest at auto) , 2 for extremely dark condition, 1/8 for lighting conditions above normal , u just have to keep ur hands steady u know

Here are two examples, the first one from updated stock camera, and the second from google camera.
I personally don´t see any difference now, it could be because of the condition of light in that moment, but anyway I will test it more later.
i cant see the pics, they are just crossed?
the two shot i took after the updating stock app, but both are from the new update , i just wanna experiment with the exposure settings (i m new to it),
hdr enhaced and another hdr effect on top through pics art?, hdr overload

Look at the background house in the corner for example. In Nokia app is blown out and in google cam is perfect and detailed. Hdr+ is for that, to have a bigger dinamic range.
