I am Running Leaked 2.1 version 2 (non root) and am wondering if i will receive the OTA update for the new rom?
No one is probably going to answer this seeing as how it has been answered all over the forums. Its possible but not known for sure. Its possible, I might win the powerball tonight.

uh oh ! this thread is going straight to the dogs
LOL OK yes, even Verizon via twitter (reliable source for news right ) has informed people asking, that yes even on leak 2.1*1/2/3. Should see the update. And if all else fails I am very sure it will be available either here at vzw.com or even HTC.com for direct dl.
Everything looks fine for us leakers, minus root of course.

Here's to praying it downgrades our HBOOT so we could possibly be eligible for root.
Hasn't this been confirmed true? 2.1 v1 and 2.1 v2 both can get OTA 2.1
The HBOOT on the leaks is newer and will not allow leakers to install the OTA. Your pretty much stuck until they can find a way to downgrade the HBOOT.

Verizon seems to think the OTA 2.1 will not be a problem for leaked/rooted 2.1 Eris's (via Twitter @VZWSupport). They must not be aware the HBOOT issue
Theres a lot of things that Verizon is not aware of. The majority of their employees probably don't know the difference between a leak, a root, and an OTA.

Seriously? Are you illiterate?
patience is a virtue.
It's a well known fact that those Eris users with hboot 1.49 currently cannot root. It may take a long time to root because the devs work on this stuff in their spare time, not to mention most are now working on roms because the previous hboot versions have been rooted. Be patient, it could take quite a while. I'm currently running 2.1 leak v3 so I cannot root. It's not that bad.

ok
The only big issues I still have with my 2.1v3 if the singnal bug and my pars not showing correct... So I'm in no rush. But I'm sure the Devs are working on a fix seeing as most replacements and all leaks are a new hboot.
It just takes time.
hopefully devs will work on it during the summer

if you want to keep root id suggest you wait on the update till its prerooted other wise you will lose root for good untill an exploit is found in gb
Yes, but sbf can still be done to root again.
I'll bet GingerBreak works on it. I've rooted a dozen of phones all different makes and models and versions with that handy all in one program.

In theory it could work, but the d3 can't be rooted, but then again its using the omap processor, so its time to wait and see

Every android device could be rooted, practically if you know mac, or linux its just typing su (super user, and i believe it might be sudo (superuser do)) does that answer the question, if not then yes
No word about MP3 or video recording issues, either that or I just read too fast and missed it
I think the OP's question was, can he update, or will he receive an update notice if his phone is rooted? I would like to know this as well.
Also, I am confused or not reading a clear answer, will this version be rootable? I think it is 2.3.3...Gingerbread.
I like root on my X2 too much to update right now if there is no root.
Thanks in advance for any clear answers and explanations.
I am so excited I am going to start my sbf now. If they are posting it on their website they have to be really close with it.

I'm about to do the same!
Gingerbreak used to work for rooting Gingerbread but they fixed the exploit in the latest versions. So right now there isn't any way to root. Your best bet is to wait for a custom rom to come out with Gingerbread pre-rooted.
When do YOU think we will get our 1.29 update? Will they skip it and roll out an update when they deliver 4.2.2?

To be honest, I have no clue and don't care . I never wait for carrier updates anymore, just flash the international rom and get updates that way. Just my opinion.
Agreed. One of the main reasons I have this phone. International **** is way better.

Oh GOD. PLEASE NO! NO NO NO!
I say meh..... It don't matter. We won't even be able to tell the phone updated until we read it in the about phone settings. I for one am totally over sitting around waiting for crappie carrier updates that only bring more bloat and potential bootloader locks. If version numbers are important to you, I would get a Nexus.
Although I can't stop checking XDA everyday to see if Team Venom dropped Viper One..... Its coming..... Oh its coming. I can't wait....... Its killing me.

I agree with you sentiment. I can't wait to get android 4.2. I'll get it early because I'm already using Cleanrom 2.5 which is 1.29 based. I know it will eventually go to android 4.2, I'll flash and then I doubt I'll notice it on a day to day basis. If I get a little better battery life, I'll be ecstatic.

So it is, I thought it had been updated to the 1.29 based kernel. I was flashing the ElementalX kernel over Cleanrom but didn't do it when he went to Cleanrom 2.5. Thanks for pointing that out, I was mistaken.

That doesn't mean you haven't spammed the forums with numerous threads that are of no value to anybody. If you don't have anything ACTUALLY useful to contribute then you should stick to lurking and flashing roms. And even if you did have something useful to say nobody was joking when they said delete your account and start over. You will likely never be taken seriously here.

Don't accept the update until you hear from other people what happens. Many times something like that can make you lose root but not always. So be daring if you wish, me no.

Just for sh*ts and giggles, I locked my device back up, performed the RUU, went back to S-On and then took all the updates up to this new update and then tried to Moonshine again...it was successful. I'm back to S-Off, unlocked and 2.07.605. Apparently, Verizon didn't fix the exploit in this update. So unlike them.

Explains the htcdm error I was getting this morning. On a custom Rom. I never plan on taking any Verizon updates again. Last one bricked my phone (2.06) glad I was able to eventually moonshine and get off their horrible software. As far as the sense 5 update coming I could care less. Been running a sense 5 Rom since the release of tranquil. Wouldnt be surprised to see the new one Rom ported over very soon. My bet is we see it before the update.

Can't you ruu back to another version and then run an exploit. Or do you need soff for that. I have never locked this phone.

Normally you would need s-off to do that.
That's why I mentioned in the ota thread that people shouldn't instantly jump into the newest thing just because it's new.
How about firewater, did you try that?
