Some ROMs have a setting for automatic backlight level whilst others don't.
Is there a sensor in the Mega that would enable this, or is it just legacy from whatever ROM it's ported from?
it have been discussed already and we all found that this is a mistake ... the original T3333/Touch2/Mega doesnt have light sensor ... some said it was taken from other HTC's , some said that it was taken from the AT&T model of Mega... for me this isn't that frustrating and shocking couse it doesnt have ... even the G-sensor is not a great miss ...

There has to be a reg edit, the ones for the mogul dont work and this damn thing only stay on for like 7 seconds, pretty annoying to have to keep pressing the keyboard to get it to light back up, help
This would be nice. If any experts know of a fix we'd all appreciate it.
I have been trying to figure this out since 2 days ago. Any of the tweaks in the raphael forum do not work on the Sprint version of this phone. I will let you know if I figure this out. Otherwise if any one else figures this out please post it.
Sprint really basterdized this phone. To bad to (I still like it though), The GSM version has somemore features, and many of the users have already figured these issues out.

From what I read in other forums, they believe it's not a software fixable thing, but tied directly to the hardware. I don't understand anything of what that means, but I hope the gurus will figure something out.
The few seconds this keyboard stays lit is just ridiculous!
hey, try the Advaced Configuratio tool 3.2.
Under Input\Keyboard backlight timeout: default 10 sec.
I hope this tweak can help you
i have advance config and i set the timeout to 2 minutes.. the keyboard still goes off within 10 seconds... so that tweak in advance config does not solve it...
Can Anybody figure this out. This is driving me crazy. a couple of folks in the PPCGeeks forum said that maybe a driver needs to be written for the Sprint TP Back light Issue.
I would donate to the cause. This is very annoying.
yea i tried changing the registry keys for pervious WM devices and even thoug it registers the change its still the same very annoying
Yea, that and the software keyboard comming up ALL the frik time when you dont want it.
Nullkeyboard doesn't work to fix that anymore either. it brings up a big box.
It's a shame to find this thread. I've been searching the goggle all night and morning for a solution.
God I hate Sprint.
I found HKCU/ControlPanel/Backlight/QKeyLedTimeout in the registry and the default value was 10.. So I changed it to 20 first and it didnt do anything.. Tried to change it to 0 which normally means no timeout but that also didnt do anything.. So not sure what that Value is for..
I also did a search for 10 in the whole registry and didnt find anything that would even seem like a timeout on the keyboard.. So not sure where to go from here.. Anyone else find anything that works?
Currently there are no hacks/tweaks regarding the keyboard backlight.
It is frustrating, but they think it's written into a DLL file. Give them a bit of time, they will find it.
Just an FYI, most advanced config tweaks do not work at all.
They have not recommended it at all.
Yeah advanced config is a joke at the moment.... Someone needs to releases a touch pro specific one... it will be awhile yet prob though....
and sarin is absolutely correct... The KB backlight is Driver Based so that one will likely take quite a while too
I just press ctrl to get it back up, but its still frustrating.
Has anyone made any progress on this issue?
i had been trying to change some registry values to remedy the light timeout and now my KB lights do not turn on when i slide out the KB. if i press a button they will turn on.
**edit**
i just slid the KB in and out about 5 times in a row and now it works as it used to. i wonder how that happened??
Has anyone found a fix for this yet?
Same Thing
I have VZW and couldn't fix it either. Tried the Advance Config and that option didnt even work either. I would love to figure this out!
Thought I'd resurect this thread and ask if anything has been found that can extend the kb light. I tried ACT like the rest of you and while it worked beautifully on my gsm TP it of course works not on my sprint. I did notice that "HD tweaks" has a few useful tweaks that do work. Alas, no kb light function there of course since HD non physical.Lol. Seriously tho , is it wm or HTC that does not give us the option to change this? I can't think of anyone being of sane mind that would find a 7 sec timeout a good thing.
EDIT: I found the neukblight app and it is working well and getting the job done. Probably why this thread died, you all had already found it I suppose. Lol.

Today I tried using average metering mode of the camera. Surprisingly, the screen got dark and quite long time later I heard the shutter sound. But no photo was taken. You can stop camera and move to other applications. But when you try to use camera again, most of time you cannot unless you restart the mobile.
anybody else has found this problem? Any resolution?
Many thanks.
The same
I just tried it and I've had the same result than you. It's a Mozart from Spain. All the others parameters were default.
We'll have to report this bug .
thanks for the reply. So I am not alone. Mine is from Orange UK. Yes, we should report. I will report to Orange to see what their reaction is. Please report to your retailer, and let us know what it will do.
regards
Hi there.
Getting the same camera bug. But that's when I set the camery mode to "Landscape". The only way to fix it, is to reboot the phone.
Hopefully, Win7 Phone boots very fast...
Microsoft's going to release some patches in early 2011, they should correct that bug and others by the way.
same here hope they fix it soon
God damn it. The same with my Orange France HTC Mozart.
How can u possibly realease a phone with a bug like that Not that I would care about using a different metering mode. But nontheless...
no issues with metering mode
set to average and spot
set scene to landscape
set not freezing
how come most people have issues with theirs
i have not experienced any issues with mine
works very ok
Hey
I have this simple question about this weird infrared led next to my front face camera that is showing when im talking in the phone.
The people im talking to, says that i have a bad signal/voice in the microphone
Im running the nordic NEE ki8 firmware android 2.3.5.
The error is just like the one in this video, except mine is only showing when im talking with other people. look closely at this error in 0:10 in this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MI7ftudEEo&feature=related
does someone have this kind of error too?
I dont know if this is supposed to be a feature or even an error at all.

It's the promimity sensor. I have no idea why it's flickering away on that video though.
Thats a proximity sensor
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Okay do you know how to make it stop.
I dont think its normal.
its annoying that it is flickering when talking to people.

Double posting and large, unnecessary signatures are annoying too .
Oinkylicious, frankly, i don't give a damn.. Save the criticism for someone who cares.
I think you are here to help instead of criticising, aren't you?
Ontopic; i don't know a way to make the flickering stop. Also, om my phone, the flashes are very very dull. You almost don't see it as in the vid where it is extremely bright (compared to mine)...

Well maybe other sgsII users arent aware of it yet
dont know if it depends on which country/carrier the phone is bought.
Mine is originally a 3 mobile branded.
In anyway we are screwed, unless samsung support can help.
thanks for your positive response :-D
i have tried flashing originally 3 mobile branded firmware xwke1 and upgraded to 3 mobile xwki8 branded firmware via kies, but that didnt solve the problem.

funny because most people on xda have a signature as large the way you describe it.
I have found out that this is a light sensor according to the manual
its placed like this: frontface camera - proximity sensor - light sensor.
I remember that i turned off the automatic light in the screen settings and then manually adjusting the light. i turned the automatic light on again.
dont know if this is related.
If it is an infrared signal, can it be used to control the TV?
Have you tried switching off proximity during calls (Check box in settings > Call )? Will leave the screen on but might solve your blinking sensor problem...
Hi, its the first time I'm writing in here, please see there may be mistakes ( as such the writing parameters that are being followed in here. ), please consider
I own this real messy GT-I5500, which been a pain since the time I had it for the first time.
We'll for it's newest miracle, particular sections of the touchscreen are not working. I am a real rookie but guess I'll try to explain
at 0 degree , the whole of 3rd row dosent respond, and particular section dont respond accordingly when the screen is turned at 90,180,270 respectively. It really makes typing impossible.
Just for the records I have rebooted,reset-ed,downgraded to froyo and tried lots of **** all over the net ( which even includes hovering a magnet to unlock screen as my lock screen ring earlier was lying in the no response region ).
I understand my phone would require an appointment at the service station, can someone elaborate the problem to me basically because
1. I do not trust them , they really sometimes employ classy noobs.
2, If I require to change the touchscreen, acceptable, but is it sure that it is a hardware problem.
3. has anyone got a screen changed, I'd love to know how deep will it burn my pocket
I reside in India. Help will be co-ordinally appreciated.
Thank You

If you flashed back to froyo or any other stock ROM and the problem still persisted then it seems to be a hardware problem.
Well I don't have experience replacing screen, just google coz there might be some info available.
Or just give it to samsung, They'll repair it but will take a lot of time because they'll do all sorts of tests before coming to the conclusion that the screen is faulty.
Okay so I have the LG G5 US992 Titan from U.S. Cellular and just like some others who own this phone (regardless of carrier) I've noticed that a lot of the time the main rear camera is very grainy in low light or if you zoom in, even in good lighting conditions. I'm making this thread to see if there's a way to swap in a better camera from another phone and have it work, or if it just simply wouldn't work at all. I know there's a manual mode and it's very good, but I like to use my camera in auto mode a lot of the time when I want to get a quick shot of something.
I know this may seem like a stupid question to ask, but I don't know much at all about this kind of stuff, and I'm curious, so I thought this site would yield the best answers. Thanks for taking the time to read this, have a great day. ^_^

Swapping the camera itself would not work due to the software programmed for that particular model.
If you want better low light shots, consider using one of the GCam ports. https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/themes/cstark27-google-camera-mod-wide-angle-t3747263 The processing algorithm in those apps brings out significantly more detail than the stock camera's own HDR settings.
