My Droid Eris didn't turn on this morning. I read the label on the back of the phone behind the phone charger and it said water damage. Yet the battery didn't. Also I was running 2.1v3 on it and I don't know if they can find out if I'm using it because that would void my warranty... and will Insurance pay for it?
If you have the insurance you have nothing to worry about. I ran a phone over in the snow and had it replaced with no problems. Just remember there is a yearly limit claims.

Ya, this is the first phone that I haven't washed and needed it to get replaced. Unlike the last 6 times. But I was having a boot issue and I called Verizon and I asked about 2.1b3 and she said that it would void my warranty...
If it doesnt turn on, how will they check?

My atrix is under warranty by AT&T. I have a cracked screen, but I had already asked them to replace my phone because it had been responding slowly and it was erasing its memory.
The crack in the screen happened just now. If I already started the reporting process for replacement, will I still be able to get the replacement or will they now charge me for the screen?
anyone deal with this before?
I would assume they will charge for the screen because its not covered under warranty. Call them and find out.

Or simply get a replacement from cnn.cn and fix it yourself?
Cheers!

What is the deal with the flash counter? Why would I not want to increase it? Are there any negative effects?

It shows you have voided your warranty through root or custom software.

I do not worry about flash counter, i have 2 Samsung phones replaced with 20 or more on each phone. Cell provider did not look at them at all

I have had rooted with custom ROM phones replaced when I bricked them. Do these counters change the game? Has anyone with a note with a non zero counter had theirs replaced via warranty?

I'm sorry to bump but has anyone else had any experience with this?
I just sent my phone back to have a stuck pixel repaired and I forgot to reset the flash counter. I only flashed it once.
I'm hella-nervous.
You guys need to search more.
[Reset Flash Counter Thread]
I'm not sure who deal with the returns, whether its Samsung directly or just ATT. I would presume its ATT since you can go to once of their warehouses directly to do any warranty exchanges. Prevents you from waiting upwards of a week for an exchange thru mail.
I've swapped out my Atrix 4G twice, both times with root AND bootloader unlocked. Both phones actually displayed the word "unlocked" on the main boot screen and there was no way to rid the text off the screen. Obviously...that voids your warranty. However it never affected any of my swaps.
So in short, I'm not sure if anyone has had their exchanges denied, but I'd like to know. This is my first Samsung device.

I just sent my phone to Samsung with an upped flash counter. They got it today. I will know by the end of the week if they will repair it.
Fingers crossed.
My View has completely died. Just went to turn it on one day and it won't respond at all. Of course it's S-off and can't even do an
RUU. Anyone know if HTC will repair it even if it's rooted? I don't know how extensive they test completely bricked devices.

My Flyer was rooted with a custom ROM and they fixed the LCD that was out for free. It was still s-off when I got it back. Give them a call. They have a super fast repair process. Mine was an 8 month old Tech4Less refurb and they treated me like I paid full price. Be sure to post your experience.
I had this happen to me. If you have not tried this yet I suggest plugging it in for an hour or so. I was then able to boot into recovery.
Ok,
I took my phone back to complete stock last night using odin, this morning I wanted to update the phone so my kiddo could get the new market, after downloading kies and running the update the phone will not turn on at all. it does not show when I connect a charger and I cant get it to go into download mode. Any suggestions or is this phone now done?

I Tried this and it didn't work. I really believe my phone is completely dead!
So there is no sign of life at all? No leds or any backlight behind the screen? If not, then you are hardbricked. Kies is notorious for hardbricking phones.
You can call your carrier or Samsung and tell them your phone was bricked using THEIR software and see where that goes.
Sorry for your loss.
Nothing at all idk what they will say since I've had the phone since brand new

I had the exact problem you did. Tmobile sent me a replacement, and now I have a phone with no scratches or dings! :victory:
Well I've had mine since the day it came out, it it's out of warranty so t-mobile won't cover it, Samsung was not going to cover it at first but after it was said and done they decided to cover it since it was there software that bricked my phone

This happened to me awhile back! I called T-Mobile, but as I was out of warranty, no phone could be sent! Wish I would've seen this thread before I tossed it...
Coming from HTC phones and an ASUS Transformer I've never heard of this before. This is my first Samsung rooted phone. Every time you flash a custom ROM or Kernel this count goes up. So what? I guess my warranty could be voided, but other that???
If you don't care about voiding your warranty you have no issues

That's pretty much it. Only noobs worry about this.
Anyway, some awesome dev will come up with a way to reset the counter, just like my other samsung phones, ie triangle away.

I think people take this way too seriously.... When the SGS2 came out last year , I had to do a warranty exchange after only having the phone for a couple months. I was worried about returning my phone since it was rooted and I had flashed a butt load of ROM's. They sent me a new phone and I had to return mine in the same package. I was scared that samsung would totally go over the phone with a fine toothed comb and find that I had voided the warranty. Maybe I got lucky because nothing ever happened. Just my 2 cents, but when you send your warranty covered phone to Samsung, I doubt they take the time to check. Just return it to stock and dont have any signs of tweaking to it. Peace
It's on HTC phones too, and they can reset the counter.
