? Device not booting - flash rom without running windows mobile? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

Hi all,
I've got a problem with my hermes phone which I can't solve by my own I think :
My device gets stucked while booting. It just shows a "htc smart mobility" screen and displays the various red numbers on the bottom for some seconds (as usual I think). But it's not going any further (waited for about 20 minutes).
I flashed the "Hermes.DarkVisions.v5.17.23017.Manila" rom over my exisisting "Schap's 4.22" rom a few hours before. The rom was running good. Then I executed the "kill em all" app by mistake, which can be found in the accessory folder as far as I can remember. Then the phone began to work very slowly so I decided to restart it. And now its not really working any more.
By connecting the phone with my pc and trying to flash a new rom, I get the RUU Error "200 INVALID UPDATE TOOL" - what does this mean? The auto detection of the current bootloader obviously doesn't work due to no running windows mobile.
Is there any chance to flash the phone without a running windows mobile? Or what else can I do to get the current rom "Dark Visions" running again?
Thanks a lot for your help,
Michael

Press The Power, The ok button (usually found on the left side) and The reset button using your pen until this rainbow coloured thing comes up.
Plug it into your USB and then reflash your ROM, also don't forget to upgrade your radio as you will need it to stabilize your custom ROM which you will find under wiki part of this forum. Just search "Hermes Radio" and click the first thing you see.
Now your device should be back to life again.

OK, so I've been reading the Common Upgrade Problems on the wiki, and I saw this:
Important : Windows VISTA users need to make a change to their system to successfully use many ROM packages. See Mr. Vanx's guide here.

Since Mr.Vanx's website was taken down, I ask you what are the changes i need to perform and if I need to apply them to Windows 7.
Best wishes!

Any help in here?
Please, i have the same trouble. I didn't work with Windows 7. Does Anyone know a solution?

HELP-NIKI300 is stuck in BOOT-Mode...??

Hi I am a newbee in tis forum - yesterday i installed the CleanBlack2ReloadedOffice in german on my XDA Star - it worked perfectly ...
Today i wanted to upgrade the radio from Nike_Radio_1.58.16.27 to the better one Nike_Radio_1.58.21.23_25.65.30.04S_Modded.
Result: the flashing stopped with 99% an now i am stuck on this boot-screen and my phone is a brick :-( It says:
RUUNBH
NIKI300
SPL-1.16.0000
CPLD-4
I tried several things to get the phone alive - but nothing helped every trial failed with the grey screen and a 0% on it - some 5 Minutes later aborted with error. What can I do?
Thanks in advance to any helpful hint!!
tip
It seems that you have not installed hard spl first
Hi 2alive - quite right. I copied the sspl-1.16-nike.exe on the device and started the Update. It stuck on 99% - ended with an error.
But now i am not able to install hard spl or anything else? I allways get the 0%-Load-Screen on the device and after 10 Minutes an 262-Error.
Is there hope to get this device running?
Any helpfull advices? Thanks in advance
Usually Device Boot Loader original can be updated using ROM Upgrade Official from HTC website. Just try it and hope it will restore your OS. When you are in Bootloader screen and connect to PC using USB Cable just run the ROM upgrade official setup and just click the status connected to ActiveSync (although you are not connected to ActiveSync coz you are already connected to USB) and go next and update, It still can upgrade the ROM.
FYI : Just Remember Original Bootloader can not upgrade Radio or ROM from Modded / Custom ROM setup thats why you need to install HardSpl to allow upgrade from Modded version.
Thank you lion _snake1 for your Tipp.
I tried now to load every shipped original rom - but the Rainbow-Start-Screen does not go away. Is there any other chance to get this device again working? Did anyone made experiences with this strange behavior?
I really would be glad, if there is a "howto" get into a working communication process between my "Pc" and my phone?
Is the ROM Upgrade Official setup can run 100% and finish ?
If it can then maybe the problem is in your Bootloader.
Maybe you can go to forum section "xda-developers - General discussion - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking" and start the same thread since that section is special for Upgrade and Mod and i think some of experience people usually online there.
hi lion_snake1
thank you for your advice - there i did not found any solution till now. I tried to load everything - but all originals or mods will stand on a grey screen with 0 % an dont move- then the error comes with 262. I already tried to boot via sd-micro-card - did not work - the device blinks a moment - as if it is searching fo rsomething and sticks again in the rainbow bottloader ....
i am looking for a step by step help for mismatched romupdates.... also with commando-lines-hacks....

[Q] ROM Upgrade Issues

hey guys, im having major issues with my HTC HD2.
I have upgraded my rom previously and it worked fine. i just did the telstra one off the htc website.
STATS:
os version: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
manila version: 2.5.20121431.1
ROM version: 1.72.841.0 (82124) WWE
ROM DATE: 02/23/10
Radio version: 2.07.51.22_2
protocol version: 15.32.50.07U
I am now tryign to upgrade once more because im having software issues with my current set-up, hoping a rom upgrade will solve it. but, i cant upgrade my rom! i am using CustomRUU.exe as the host program for running the .nbh files. i have tried artemis's latest rom, radio uprgrades, andriod ports, maxsense cooked roms, everything! and i cant get it to get past this screen.
so the issue. i hook up my HTC HD2 to my computer connect via activesync, i then drag the chosen .nbh file on to CustomRUU.exe and run the file and the rom upgrade, im doing everything they say and my htc is hooked to the computer with the arrow things confirming. i do the acceptance steps, and it gets to the progress bar and sits a 0% (on my laptop) while my HD2 works through it.
it goes to the red green blue screen, says USB down the bottom, goes black and displays a HTC loading screen with a progess bar at 0%
this is where the issue is.
it stays at 0% for about 5-10 minutes, on BOTH the hd2 and the laptop, than the computer gives me an error code [262] : UPDATE ERROR...(i am aware that this is a connection error and should resolve with restarting for the computer and the device and a new usb port used)... but this has not solved my problem. as soon as my HD2 restarts and goes to the red green blue screen i lose connection with the computer and it times out. My HD2 just loads the htc progress bar screen and does nothing
i dont even get 1%!!!!
i have tried installing HSPL but it says i need sspl 1.42.000 (i think), so when i try to install that via a rom or whateva it is, it gives me the no connection freezing issue.
im stuck in a violent circle and get get past this issue.
basically, the rom uprgrade wont work because my device is apparently disconnected form the computer and the install times out.
someone please help! PLEASE!
im sorry if this is a simply fix and im being a noob, but i just am stuck real bad!
thanks in advance guys

Changing to a customized ROM is very different from upgrading through HTC website , and it starts by installing HSPL on your phone..
you should start here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
but its probably easier to resolve your current "SW issues" than installing a customized suitable ROM for you at this stage.. so why dont you post what the SW issue is instead.. (unless your phone does not boot at all now..)

just quickly, sw issues?

software issues = SW issues
Depending on what your Software problems are you could try to post them and try to solve it.
The fastest ways is to install the right HSPL you can use the link in the post of "ugguggh" which has a good manual about how all works. You also can read through the 1st two posts in de threat displayed below. Here you cna find which HSPL you need for your version.
After installing the right HSPL its just a matter of choosing your desired ROM and install it.
I'm currently working with the Artimis V27 ROM NL and i'm not experiencing any problems it runs very smooth. Just format your SD card and try to download Task29. First run "Task29" before installing the ROM. It cleans up old stuff from your old ROM install. After Task29 finished press volume down before it reboots your phone so you enter the bootloader. Now you can start the CustomRuu application and install your desired rom. (if you enter a blanc HTC screen after Task29 (thats normal because there is no OS to load anymore) just remove the battery and hold volume down while putting the battery back or using the power on button)

dont do that, put customruu and the nbh in a folder on their own, then right click customruu and choose run as administrator (do this even if you are logged in as administrator)

use a usb port around back of the pc, not in the front case.
the 'you need 1.42.0000...' is wrong, its old info. Use hspl3 and choose 2.08.hspl
THANKYOU! but here are my sw issues
hey guys thankyou for all ur help, i downloaded hspl3 and it worked and i have tested a few different roms,, and i installed Miri_HD2_WM65_21908_Sense25_V17.0_WithSwype, which is working quite well right now and i am pretty damn happy with it so far.
i installed S2U2 and since then it started to play up a lil..
the issues are that in general the whole entire system is slow. not neccesarilly windows but sense... :\
messages are sometimes unusable, frozen very laggy, and occasionally needs a soft reset. phones is unusable, can make calls, just cant hear dialtone, microphone sender and recevier isnt working, NO SOUND! shortcut calender viewer on the sense homescreen takes mins to hours to load appointments and sometimes doesnt for days. and in saying sometimes is lightning quick...???
besides that i am not experiencing many other issues YET...i will have to wait a few more days. though i would really like a solution to the phone issue if that is possible
would love to beable to use a android port (a very good, everyday use version), and if anyone has any info on it, would u beable to post some for me please
i have tried haret and it wont work. i load clrcad then haret it runs through the first stuff, then the screen starts to fad and i get lines on the left then it slowly goes black and nothing happens. requires a soft reset to get the phone working again..
I AM JUST FULL OF ISSUES! sorry guys
anyways thankyou EVERYONE for all your help u have been great so far
thanx

[Q] 12 Hours of Froyo Hell!!

Evening all,
I have been advised to post here on XDA from Android Forums. This is a copy of my initial post on there to explain the background to my issue.....
Hi there,
I have HTC Desire from O2 and after 12 hours of online searching and tweaking I'm hoping someone may be able to help.
I received the OTA upgrade yesterday which I accepted because I thought O2 might have it sorted by now. Obviously not. Anyway update ran with no interruption but then rebooted to a frozen O2 screen.
I searched the net and eventually found the guide to update the phone using the RUU Rom. I followed this to the letter and the installer for the RUU wouldnt't open. I then realised that Google Chrome hadn't fully downloaded the file (113mb not 171mb). I then used a download manager to ensure I had the full file. It then ran and seemed to be working... until 80% in when I get ERROR 110 File Open.... please use a complete RUU. I downloaded it several more times in various ways but still same result. By this point my phone was pretty much bricked.
I had black screen with silver HTC logo in the middle and 4 exclamation marks in the corners.... this remained whilst the phone was plugged in and the buttons in any combination did nothing. When i removed the USB cable i got a white boot screen with RUU highlighted in orange and again.... buttons do nothing. Every time I ran the RUU file it brought up a green bar as if it was making progress but then errors at the same point every time. (Error 110 use complete RUU... file seems to be complete now at 171mb)
I tried it on two computers, one win7 and the other vista. The vista machine doesn't even see the phone, it gives a USB error before the update begins.
At 2am I used the SDK download and typed the following at command prompt.... "fastboot oem boot".... phone instantly boots into O2 Froyo and works fine. If i then unplug the phone, turn it off and on again.... i get the black HTC screen again, back to square one.
At the moment I have fastbooted it so its working and have used the goldcard tool to obtain the CID and created the .img file.
I don't know what to do from here!!.... the update obviously hasn't FULLY worked but it must have completed enough for the thing to fastboot and seems to have full functionality (calls, wireless, network etc)
I don't really want to void the warranty but O2's only option is to send it off for 14 days to have an engineer tell me its buggered and send a replacement.
Any advice is appreciated.
Rich.
A couple of helpful guys on there have tried to advise me but without success. They suggested rooting etc but here is my problem.....
At the moment the phone seems to be working fine with Froyo... but the only way I can get my phone to start up is by plugging in and running "fastboot oem boot" from command prompt. If my phone is powered off and I turn it on in the normal way, I get the black screen with silver 'HTC' and triangles in 4 corners and all buttons do nothing!
I have tried fastboot command whilst holding down the volume keys etc and it just boots normally. Obviously something isn't right and I can't let my battery run down otherwise its useless until I can fastboot it again.
So this is preventing me from accessing any of the menu's required in the flash/root tutorials.
Can anyone help or do I just need to ensure I don't run the battery down?!?
Thanks in advance
Rich
if you have a goldcard already, have you tried flashing a diffrent ruu from fastboot? maybe just a generic htc one rather than the o2 one?
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Could you advise me which RUU would be the best to use?
I have looked through the list on shipped-roms website but apart from the obvious O2 ones, I don't understand which ones are which!
Thanks
Rich
Hi Rich,
I have exactly the same problem. Have you got any feedback about whether you have solved this issue?
Thanks!
Kelk
Edit:
I think I may have got it sorted. Downgrade to 2.1 as per:
hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
(replace xx to tt in link above)
Hi there,
I haven't solved my issue yet. At the moment I am using my phone on 2.2 but trying not let the battery run flat (I have to use fastboot from command prompt to get my phone to boot up)
Did the tutorial above work for you?
My issue is getting a working goldcard. I'm not sure whether mine has worked succesfully because when i've tried running the RUU of either the unbranded froyo update or even the O2 original, i get and error message and it doesn't work.
I followed the goldcard creation tutorial but I still get the CID error when trying to run the various RUU files.
I hope I can sort this soon because i've been close to throwing my phone out of the window several times!!
Cheers
Rich
Hi Rich,
Yes, the above tutorial worked for me. I think this is because it downgrades to a former version of HBOOT.

Use Goldcard + your shipped o2 ROM (ROM that came originally with ur phone 1st time). you can get the rom from HTC official website. enter your Serial Number t download (i recommend using Mozilla built in download manager, coz Google Chrome always give me Corrupted Download when downloading Large files)

[Q] Completely restore stock T-Mobile ROM and everything?

I've been searching on how to completely restore my (T-Mobile) HD2 on this forum for a while and haven't came to it, so sorry if I'm repeating any threads.
Basically I'm fairly novice in flashing and things in that nature. I've been flashing updating Energy ROMs on my HD2 for about six months since I got the phone. Which was fairly simple to do. Since WP7 ROMs, I've switched over to flashing those. The problem is that 99%, it'll flash fine, then won't get past the boot screen. And on the rare occasion it does get past it, I can't turn it off, or else I'll have to trying getting past the screen 1000 more times to be successful. I think I have all the requirements to run WP7, but not exactly sure.
So I would like to know what to download and flash/ install for it to be as if I bought this from T-Mobile today.
Thanks!
I need help with this too..I craked my screen and am going to send it to t-Mobile so they can send me a new one, but I want to put it to factory reset. Ive looked all over cant find them...the post a couple up...links are dead
you do realize that if you cracked your screen your warranty is already void. it doesn't matter what software you are running at this point.

Sorry for MY late reply, but I put this phone away for a while and now my dad wants to use it. I've gone though the steps, but I can't get past "6. Hold the volume down key and power on your phone. As soon as the coloured screen changes to grey, RELEASE volume down." It never turns grey. I'm one step from taking this phone and throwing it out my window to see it shatter.

I have done a dozen of flashings on my Tmobile HD2 and works fine so far. Thanks to XDA forum all the tools I need are available right here on XDA !!! You just to search them out yourself (sorry I don't have the links ....... ).
I suppose you know how to flash your phone so I will not explain details how to do it.
In brief, to install WP7 this is what I suggest you should do -
1. Update flash radio to the latest available update from Tmobile US website, regardless of what ROM you have at present (version 2.15.50.14 is the latest, I think).
2. Flash HSPL 2.08 to your phone to maximize 576 RAM usage, if you have it (do not use SPL 2.08.000 as this will recognize only 448 RAM size).
2. Use Task29 to clean out the existing the existing ROM on your phone (this will erase your OS and you will only be booting on the white HTC logo screen). This will clear out those ROM leftovers on your phone.
3. Flash magdlr 1.12 or 1.13 on your phone (press power button on boot to show magdlr menu).
4. On magdlr menu scroll down to no.5 USB flasher, connect your phone to pc and run dwi.exe on your WP7 installer and wait till installation has completed.
I have done these procedures a dozen times already I have not encountered problems so far. I have been flashing and flashing to choose the best ROM (WP7 or WM6.5.x) I want. On personal note, I think I would settle for WM6.5.x cooked ROMs because of usability and handiness (I find WP7 too complicated to deal in terms of tweaks and handling of personal videos/photos file security).
Some notes:
a. You need to flash radio and HSPL only once.
b. Use Task29 every time you need to install a new ROM (your choice, but recommended).
c. After Task29 you can start out clean and flash to stock ROM or any other rom you choose.
d. There are dozens of videos on YouTube to help you flash but I have not seen one using Task29 to start the process of flashing.
This works for me, hope it does to you as well. Good luck !!!

[Q] Please please help this noob out!

As previously stated I am a complete noob when it comes to flashing android devices.
Here is the problem I am faced with: I recently rooted, and unlocked the bootloader on my atrix hd (ATT)
Since then I tried installing cm10.1 multiple times on the secondary "Rom slots" within the bootloader, without any success. So I finally decided to go for it and install cm10.1 in the "stock rom" slot, Prior to doing this I did a back-up using Rom manager. Aand now I seemingly can't even boot into recovery mode, every time I restart my device it simply goes to the cyanogenmod blue ring thingy and gets stuck! (I have left it for 15-20 mins thinking it might be some kind of installation process..) But apparently it's not and i've broken my smartphone lol. Anyway i'd really appreciate some help fixing this problem, a step-by step guide would probably work best..!!! I have both windows 8 and Ubuntu installed on my pc, just saying..Don't know if it's relevant information and may simplify fixing my problem...Thanks in advance guys and girls
i've even tried holding down all three physical buttons and it simply takes me back to the same screen!!!
you could try something like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2434726
.. and you are sure, that you can not enter the recovery menu??
official motorola guide, how to enter recovery menu:
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/60620/action/auth
.. adb could be your last possibility, if everything else fails, google it, you'll find many answer
