Hello my friends,
I have an unlocked TG01 from Orange and I am living in Japan. I would like to flash my radio to the Japanese Docomo 5005.1901.1.20 radio.
My device often resets upon boot and it happens at the precise time it is trying to connect to the cell tower. I see the little cell icon pop up and then my device will hang and then reboot. To correct this problem I would like to flash the Japanese radio into my device.
Is this a good idea or a bad idea? Has anyone done this before? Will my device become sim locked to the Docomo network? What is a good radio to use in Japan (Maybe the Chinese radio)? Right now I am using 5005.1600.05.
Thanks so much for everything ppl,
-Kilihari.

I want flash a Japanese rom too...
Related
I am currently living in Japan and have just picked up a new HT1100 (Touch Dual) on the Docomo network.
This is my first smartphone/PDA and I am very happy with it except for the language problem.
The entire system is in Japanese and I would like to change it to English. I have tried asking Docomo who didn't have a clue what to do and it seems that the original English software has been completely removed and replaced with an all-Japanese ROM.
I have never changed the ROM on a smartphone before but I am willing to give it a go but I have a few questions which I can't find answers to by searching -
1, Would it be better for me to try and find an English language pack (if one exists)?
2, If I do have to change the ROM completely then which would be the best one for me?
3, If everything gets screwed up then what are my chances of unbricking it and putting the original Japanese software back on?
4, If everything goes to plan and I change the software to a hacked version can I still use my Docomo sim card in it? Or is there some kind of security check between the sim card and the phone that means the card will only work with the Docomo ROM?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm a bit of a newbie at this and don't want to ruin a brand new phone that I am otherwise so happy with!
Read the Sticked Thread about HardSPL and make all Steps!!!
Read 10 Pages of the Thread befor you try this. Then you know all errors you can have and it prevent use for the same questions they all ready posted hehehe
After that ... looks around for a Favorit Rom and try it! If you have a Problem ... read the first 10 Pages of the Thread!
^_^
neon 100
japanese ht1100 code name is neon 100 not niki,
so do not flash niki radio or rom to ht1100(neon 100).
Thanks for the replies!
I will certainly read each step carefully before I flash the phone with new ROM.
But before I do I just want to check one thing to be completely clear - are you saying that after I put on this new homebrew ROM I will DEFINITELY be able to use my Docomo sim card in it without any problems?
Also, what settings would I need to enter on the new phone to use it properly? ie, when I flashed normal phones in the past I needed to re-enter all the MMS/internet settings. Is it the same with these smartphones or are there any other settings I will need to get?

2, If I do have to change the ROM completely then which would be the best one for me? I think your device is a Neon, if i'm correct that i think i'm the only one cooking Neon Roms .
3, If everything gets screwed up then what are my chances of unbricking it and putting the original Japanese software back on? Dump your original Rom before doing anything that way you can always manage to flash it back.
4, If everything goes to plan and I change the software to a hacked version can I still use my Docomo sim card in it? Or is there some kind of security check between the sim card and the phone that means the card will only work with the Docomo ROM? Is your phone Network locked? Have you tried a sim card from another Network?

hi,I have same handset with you , and have flashed english rom , if you want to flash any english rom,I think you will cannt use docomo network mms, hi-speed data plan etc.
and cannt accesse internet. so, must dump docomo original rom before flash other english rom. good luck.
I don't know if my phone is network locked as I have not tried another sim yet but I wouldn't be surprised if it it.
Actually, after mailing HTC Japan they have pointed me in the direction of an English language pack sold by another company. I have to wait another 24 hours before I can use it but it looks promising - http://www.cfcompany.co.jp/product/mobem/mobem.html
If Aten is right then flashing the phone will be no use to me if the Docomo sim card doesn't work.
I will wait and try this language pack to see how that works out. Maybe after that I will consider flashing the ROM.

The MMS and Connection settings are store either in *.Rgu files or *.Xml files on the Rom, not sure which ones. I had the same issue with my Telstra branded Rom, the network settings were built in so i couldn't connect to any other network. If you dump your rom and upload it up i can have a look and extract these settings for you.
Cheers
Well that language pack software arrived last night and I installed it without any problems.
It all seems pretty good. Not everything is translated but its enough to make the phone useable for me.
The only major issue I have is that it seems incompatible with the whole Touchflo interface. The touchflo will not open my videos or, photos or music files any more. I cannot use the Touchflo shortcuts and it seems I am also unable to set an MP3 as my ringtone/alarm etc.
Is there something I could change to make this work?
I am busy with work for the next few days but will see if I can upload this ROM on the weekend.
I've install Radio 3.53.25.20 and now my phone is not conecting on my network. Can anyone help me?
I have to anounce that I am using a Tornado sim to conect on Cosmote. 10x
Hei,
Try installing a rom that comes with a radio that you know works on Orange to overwrite your current ROM.
I have updated my rom and my mega works on Orange Ro.
Also try a hard reset.
Keep me updated.

10xxx It is alive!!!!!
PS It is possibile to unlock it from orange. I want to get rid off the tornado sim.
Yes, you can unlock it, but its not free. It costs around 15 - 20 Euros.
Do you mean something like www(dot)sim-unlocker(dot)com ?
yes. , but please read first, because there are some services like such that dont work for all phones and operators.
I tried some time ago and did not work. I think maybe after I changed the ROM will work.
Any ideas?
It is not ROM related.

Similar Issue
I have a similar problem so I thought to post here.
I have a I5500L.
It came with this firmware out of the box I5500LUYJP9 (2.2) it was locked to Movistar (Venezuela).
I unlocked it with SRS to use it with my carrier (Digitel Venezuela).
No matter what I try, I cannot make it work with 3G, only EDGE.
I've tried many things, changing bands, forcing WCDMA, and a lot of tricks found on this and other forums, but nothing works.
It's not that it doesn't work with 3G and goes to EDGE, but that te phone is only working on basic GSM, and cannot connect to the network if I change any setting.
Funny thing is my wife has an I5500 (without the L), it was bought unlocked, it came with some European Firmware, and hers works perfectly with 3G.
She has the same carrier as me.
Another thing to note is, my phone detects a network called "Digitel", her phone detects a network called "DIGITEL-GSM".
¿What could be the problem?
¿Could I flash some European firmware to my phone to make this work?
¿Will this affect the SIM unlock?
Thanks.

Thanks.
What are the implications or possible sideffects of changing the baseband?
I mean if a baseband won't work, there should be another one that does right?
I'll be doing some reading, but a head's up wouldn't hurt.

there no danger in changing basebands, the only thing is, some will, and some wont work. you should just try the baseband from wherever you are 1st, but if that doesnt work, try another. doesnt matter if you are from UK and you use an american baseband, if it works, its completely fine
has it worked?

Sorry to post T-01C question in TG01 forum. This Android phone is from NTT Docomo , and in China we use a cracked SIM sticker ( Mr SIM ) to cheat the network so as to make phone calls. But today I accidently chose the Radio Band GSM/UMTS as USA band, now I cannot switch it back and lost and network connection. I know you guys have been using T-01C’s Android Kernel to develop TG01’s Android Rom, could anyone give me some suggestion how to get the right Radio back? When the radio is on there is only one option US band to select; if radio is off, there are more options like AU , JAPAN band etc., but no matter which one I choose, just cannot set it successfully even the system is rooted.
T-01C have been updated in May from OS 2.1 to 2.2 while Radio from 5011.1906.50 to 5014.1906.11. Now I download the 2.2 ROM from official website and try to use T01C_SWUpdater01.apk to flash, it fails because I already use the latest OS.
Could anyone help me on this? Thanks for reading!
Hy guys i have a big problem and i need advice. i was using some rom ics with 3.6 sense and today it start boot loop then i decided to test this
Team Venom presents: Viper3D 1.0.0 Nightly welcome to the future. installation went great but the problem started there. it can not find any network. i tried full wipe of everything but its the same. it does not let me update radio anymore. everything else works. IT revolutionary shooter_u Xa shio s-off RL, hboot- 1.49.1107, radio - 11.25.3504.06_M, cid is HTC__001
and i am using gsm version
Your cid is HTC_001 right? Well that means your unbranded right? Well that could be the problem. If your not branded with a carrier your not going to get a mobile signal. There's nothing wrong with your phone bro. Since your radios are up-to-date of course it won't let you upgrade. Suggestion: brand your phone to get a mobile network. Hope that helps you.

i will try. how to do that?
That depends on what mobile carriers are in your region. Whichever one you chose, you will have to find the right stock ruu with the carrier you want service from. For instance, If you want Vodafone service you would get a shooterru ics Vodafone (with matching radios) ruu file and flash it through your bootloader. Now please make sure you find the correct one or else you will brick your phone. Now, to verify you are on Vodafone check your cid which should say voda_001 or something like that. Note this was hypothetical scenerio and used as an example. But you get my point. After you find your appropriate ruu and flash it. Call the mobile carrier and ask to activate an account with them to get your phone activated. Just remember that I nor nobody else is responsible if you turn your phone into a expensive paperweight.

i understand but the problem is to find correct cid of this network and the orginal is probably changed. It Vipnet Croatia part of A1. Do you have a suggestion where to look?
Ok after much research, I have reached a deadend. So, let me ask you this, is your cid still HTC_001? Does Vodafone own vipnet? If so, maybe flash a Vodafone cid might work for you? I'll try to keep looking, in the meantime is there anybody you know that has vipnet on their evo 3d that can tell you what their cid is?
last i checked (a couple years ago) vipnet was owned by vodaphone.
he's s-off and should have absolutely no problem downgrading his radio, so this is rather puzzling
also I don't think CID should have any effect on his signal
my best guess would be that since viper3D is sense 4.0 based it doesn't play nice with some aspects of the phone, try flashing another rom/kernel maybe, bottom line if i'm wrong you rule those two out,
hope this helps
Ok just checking because he was asking to write a vipnet cid to his phone and after looking through google I came into that conclusion that he could probably brand his phone with Vodafone. I'm pretty sure there was nothing wrong with his phone just needed a mobile carrier to have an active data signal. Thanks for helping me help him.
Have you tried using a custom apn? In other words: setting up the apn yourself? Had the same problem, i live in holland thoufh

Seriously, we are trying to help you. Your radios have nothing to do with your problem. You have to have an active service on your phone for all these features to work. Based on what you have told us it has to be a no service issue. You have to brand your phone with a mobile provider and contact them to set up an account. You do this by flashing a firmware to get your radios intune with your carrier of choice. I did look all over the place and cannot find a vipnet firmware anywhere. My suggestion is to flash to Vodafone for your region. Cid does not have anything to do with getting service since you are unbranded. When you brand your phone the firmware will convert your phones cid to match with the correct cid to have network service. I hope this helps you. I really hate to see you screw up your phone from not listening to our advice.
