Can anyone identify this part? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I sent my HD2 in for repairs but an incompetant repair shop ripped up the back of my HD2 and tore the "flat strip" underneath the battery:
http://img96.imageshack.us/i/htchd2wificam2.jpg/
The image above shows what I'm talking about, its a flat orange-ish strip with squares on it.
Is this a replacable part, and if so where can I acquire one?
I have now sent my HD2 in for repairs at HTC and apparently they need to replace the "MB" which I assume is the motherboard...that is BS as far as I'm concerned and the only damaged thing is that orange strip which is torn.

Need help!!!
Smashed my LCD and orded a replacement from HK. The part number they sent me was 60H00037-00M. After installing it, all I get is a white screen. Sent it back and recieved another one with the same number and again the same deal!!!
The part number Im chasing is 60H00056-00m or TX0704APAA1. I think it is a mfg by Hitachi.
I cant find anything with this part number on the net and was wondering if anyone knows if there is an equivalent that could be used insted.
Mal..
Are you sure that your connections are secure and lined up properly? I replaced the screen on my 8525 and the ribbon cable was not connected properly the first go round. It is the one with the tiny screws.

I have 60H00056-00m or TX0704APAA1 LCD.
msn:[email protected]
I am looking for a TX0704APAA1 for my HTC Tytn.
Apparantly this is the Hitachi model other models are also available on ebay (Samsung and Toppoly). As I understand Samsung and Toppoly are not compatible with one another apparently they use different controllers.
As for the Hitachi I have know idea whether it is compatible with Samsung or Toppoly, which is why I am on my quest after the Hitachi...
Anyone know where I can get one?
I think this one might work.

Replacement Hero Housing/Facia

Hey guys,
My white unlocked Hero has sustained some nasty body scratches plus it is starting to turn yellow. I'm considering a full body replacement. I was only able to find this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/GENINUE-HOUSING-FACEPLATE-FACIA-GOOGLE-G3-HTC-
HERO-WT_W0QQitemZ280402919652QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item41495100e4
Do you think that it's going to be as good as the original one? The seller claims that it's genuine, What do you think?
I found a site that has both the black and white housing for the gsm hero.
http://www.truesupplier.com/faceplate-housing-cover-for-htc-hero-g2-touch-white-color-pr-18489.html
How do I know that it's genuine? or at least as good as the original HTC cover?

The web page is called "truesupplier.com". OF COURSE its genuine
How hard is it to change the housing anyway?
by changing housing you will probably break phone trust me ... and truesupplier housing is oem not genuine by looks of it..
He might not break it if he's careful, and has the proper tools. I've taken apart a few phones without causing any problems.
So unless i'm handy at doing these things, I should not do it myself?
What if I have our local HTC agent do it? Will it at least look as good as new?
i have the white hero and would love to put the black case on it.
the site mentioned above says it comes with the tools needed to change the cover, has any tried doing this?
i would love to go for it but don't want to f*&k my phone up!
i think its not so difficult to switch the cover if you take off the backcover there are 6 screws than open the case from the top of the mobile phone and pull it off
but becarefull maybe there are flatcables from die lcd or the trackball just make it slow and be carefull all the time
and maybe you can find a dissembly how to in google
peace
this site has pics of disassembly of a hero but it's in russian.

If you have to pry the phone open use something plastic so you dont damage the original case. Just in case the ebay housing is rubbish.

whats the difference between oem and genuine
any1 bought replacement white hoising? mine is getting yellow. so need to buy a back cover.
Thinking of buying one myself. I accidentally dropped mine on the tiled floors of my workplace toilets LOL (luckily not IN the toilet). so now there's a little nick on the top left corner of the case.
If this is your first time you will probably scratch the covers but nothing more. You need to be very patient and i will suggest take a look to a good tutorial.
iopened my hero 1 week ago and its so easy maybe in the next days i will upload a video in youtube
bye
I bought the ebay one. It's surprisingly well built (Not Teflon though).
The sad part is that my touch screen got screwed up during the installation. The bottom part of the screen is no longer functional and the sensitivity is messed up overall. Did the replacement in a local phone shop.
Now trying to find a way to fix it.

That would be greatly appreciated!
hmm do you want to sell me your backplate of your old case? i need it please
and to fix your problem : you need a new display glas with digitizer
to remove your old glas: use a hairdryer, you have to heat up the old clue of the old glas and than you can push it easily out of the frame but be carefull not to heatup the frame, the plastic can deform, maybe you can cover it with aluminium foil from the kitchen
the video of the dissembly will be uploaded tomorrow by me
good night guys!

Where can I find new display glass for HTC hero? or can I just buy something generic?
I don't mind giving you my old backcover though it's in a very bad shape (which is why I wanted to replace it in the first place).

[Q] Motherboard replacement

A friend's wife dropped her vibrant into some water and powered it on before it was completely dry. Now the display is distorted with lines, occasional flickering, etc. The phone is usable sometimes (when you can see). The touch screen seems responsive, speaker works, front buttons work, and pretty much everything else I tested.
At first I suspected the display, and it might still be bad, but when I took it apart and cleaned it up there was a damaged part on the top board.
Not sure what it is, maybe a capacitor? Labeled, "2R2" on the top.
It's under the narrow portion of the metal cover. The cover that sets directly above it was scorched black.
Basically I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile or possible to replace this board, or even just the part. I'd prefer not to replace just the part since I'm terrible at soldering.
Is it even likely that this is the only culprit?
Any advice?
It is possible. See globaldirectparts.com/category-s/6611.htm for part names and google them for other places w/ cheaper prices. Sounds like lcd issue as well though.
checked there already. They don't have any of the major PCB parts listed. I googled the hell out of it looking for someone selling them(or even a part number) but the best I've found is people on ebay getting rid of "parts phones."
Craigslist or EBay for a broken phone is probably your best bet. See is you can get one that has a broken screen and no water damage. I'm guessing you don't have insurance? Or just seeing if you can do it cheaper.
Sent from my CM7 Powered Vibrant
They had insurance on the previous phone but they bought this one used and didn't call tmo to get insurance switched to it (if they even do that). So they've been paying for insurance that they can't use for the last several months.
I'm worried that the display may be bad as well and if I tell them to get one with a cracked screen they're going to be out the cost of the display as well.
Looks like that's going to be their only option aside from simply getting a new phone though.
Thanks for the replies

[Q] Dell streak warranty

Hey all, I have a Streak I bought last Christmas and ended up dropping and breaking the screen. It is still under warranty, aside from the sticker being missing on the one torx screw. Its still in mint condition physically with no scratches. All of a sudden the cameras quit working the other day. It wont connect to them, and I know its software and not a hardware issue caused by me repairing the screen. I cannot remember which screw had the sticker on it an would like to replace the phone through warranty. Can anyone tell me which screw the sticker was located on? Any other information would be helpful too, as in the type of sticker or diameter. I know it was pretty thin and white, as the torx driver when right through it with no effort. Or how hard are they to take off and put back on? Could I get the new phone and take it off fairly easily and throw it on the old one before I send it in?
u mean screw under the home plate or under the earpiece plate? if yes thn thr is no warranty sticker i just check mine.
Really? Mine had one under the home place I believe. Cant remember which screw it was exactly, think there is three. But if yours didnt have a sticker at all I wonder if Ill be alright sending it in as is?
I've replaced my screen a few times and I had no warranty stickers on the screws

[Q] HTC Legend screen fit problem

Hi,
Long story short, a while ago I broke my screen, so I took it to a local phone shop (not vodafone, a small company) who did repairs. They charged £50 for the screen and to fit it etc. But since they've "repaired" it, the screen no longer sits flush in the body of the phone. The top let hand corner or the screen hangs about 3/4mm out of the body and is "squishy" (best way I can describe it really, I can push it in to where it should be, but it doesn't sit there, it comes out (as if it is being bent around something)). Due to this, dust seems to have gotten inbetween the screen and the digitizer? I can see the dust, can't remove it or touch it though... The case doesn't appear to be bent or out of shape in any way either. The mesh covering the speaker is mullered though, the technician at the shop reckons that it was neccessary during removal and replacement of the screen (true?). They also say that the reason the screen won't stay stuck in (all 3 other corners fit flush and do not move). Just wondering seeing as they aren't exactly much help if there is anything I can do to fix this. I am willing to take it apart myself and attempt to deal with it that way, as a last resort though. Screen works fine, no problems what so ever apart from the squidy corner and dust under the screen.
Have looked but haven't found this problem anywhere else and was wondering is it a physical fault or have they just put it together wrong? I'm seriously lost for what to do here... And on another note, phone won't connect to the computer as disc drive, but is fine for charging (although during mains charging it registers as "Charging (USB)" and sometimes doesn't register fully charged until it's soft reset which it then says it's completely full (although this isn't persistent, only some mornings...)
Sorry if this has been asked before and I haven't seen it or if I'm in the wrong area, didn't see a tech section.
Many thanks,
Joe
When I saw a guide a while ago to disassemble the legend, there are two retaining screws at the top under the black rubber bit, sounds to me like they either forgot to put them back or lost them. If your brave enough remove the black rubber cover on the top back, and have a look. Not sure what what the best method is to remove it though.

Having another look at the mesh on the top, noticing its only mashed on the left side (with the problems) and on the right there seems to be a slight gap between the screen and the mesh, in the right, there doesn't... and could it be a retaining screw problem? Am I better off buying a new phone 2nd hand and saving the hassle of dissassembly and possible bricking? Then have a go once new phone arrived and selling it on?

I don't see how you can brick your phone doing that.
