Hi guys,
My power off button is somewhat messed up, its quite difficult to wake up the phone by pressing it. Is there any other way to turn on the screen without pressing the bloody button, it has driven my crazy lately.
Cheers,
Hi
If the button is really tired, can't you get the seller to change the phone?
Other ideas: in case it would be some software trouble: hard reset?
Use à cab like Mort button, Hbutton, AEbutton to wake up your screen from other command?
PS ShutXp is wat u need ,
set up AEbutton plus like this:
a key(like camera) double tap to to launch shutxp
same key single tap : close application
and tick "today icon" in shutxp it makes it operate smoother
so if u double tap it will come up and single ull be back from standby ... and ull have a nice close app button also
a few skins cuz the default ones are ugly here or here or search button

That sounds good, will try it tonight
Thanks mate
Got sometime playing around with AEButton, pretty complicated I would say (atleast to). It seems like the soft ware could only assign jobs for hardkey buttons, is there any chance to set up so that when the screen is turned off, double tapping it makes it wake up??

hello...
is there any way to lock all the keys.....but still be able to recieve calls (and txts etc)?
The reason i ask is beacuse i want to be able to listen to mp3s while the xda is in my pocket.....
thanks
jay
On phone app, choose Tools->Options->More
Hardware button Lock
'Lock all buttons except Power'
Sorry, misunderstood.
You want to lock it whilst it is powered on. Don't know how.
On PocketDiVX and PocketMVP, you can map the hardware buttons. So if you map both hardware buttons and all directions on the rocker keypad to something which doesn't interfere with MP3 playing (such as 'increase brightness'), you're all set.
I would keep one (maybe a rocker direction?) mapped to toggling the screen on and off to save batteries though.
sorry for souding stupid but...
WHAT???? LOL
i have no idea what you said.....sorry, i have only had my xda 1 day and i dont even know how to use msn messenger yet
lol.....if u could explain in dumb terms...i would be greatful

well windows have smart key settings like if you
hold down the ALT key and press the F4 key the active problem close
and if you hold down CTRL + ALT and hit DELETE it reboot if it's win9X and give you the taskmanager if it's NT/2k/XP
some you can set yourself to do what ever action you want it to
well it's the the same thing with your XDA when you are running a program you can change what the buttons on your device does
so when you are listening to mp3 then you set the keys actions to something which does not interfear with your music playing, you can prob set these up in the program you use to listen to music with
and in the end a7GH add that it would prob be a good idea to set on off the buttons action to turning off the display to save juice
I tried jogbutton because I thought it added controls to the center bottom button on pocket pc with wm2003. I was disapointed to find out it only modified the contact button. Hopefully someone will find a way to and something like press and hold to launch fonix voice or something. Let me know if there is. Thanks, John
Think about it, the centre button is actually a d-pad, not a button to be assigned.
Yeah you could have holding down UP = launch a program but imagine the times where you've held it down for just too long and whoops. Instead of scrolling through the list of text messages you get a program come up.
I'd not want any extra functionality on the d-pad, except maybe in games.
A
Double Launcher will give you four functions for each of the two top buttons. Excellent app, highly recommend it! Dirt cheap too.
I dont really use the center button for scrolling so that wouldnt bother me and cant you also press in the center of the button. It just when im driving its a pain to shuffle the phone down so I can press one of the top buttons when I am using voice dial so often. K'now what I mean.
This apk is a slight mod on jerryfan2000's Button Saviour app (similar to softkeys). . . the only difference I made on his app is that the ever-present overlay icon (that you press to bring up the soft keys) is invisible.
So if you learn where it is on the screen, just touch there to bring up the keys--and you won't have to have an always-present arrow overlay sitting on your screen. It gives you the option to set it to launch on a long-press, in case you find yourself accidentally launching it.
If you have trouble finding it the first time (after all, it is invisible), just switch to the Sense theme, then back to default...
If you have trouble finding it on a regular basis ( harder than you might think) and your LCD density is set to 250 like mine, here's a setting that will make it easier:
1. Set it to come up on the right side (default)
2. Set "icon position" to 0
... This will give you an easy landmark to help you find the invisible launcher icon: the bottom of the volume down button on your nook. Look for that, then touch the edge of the screen next to it to launch button saviour.
If anyone has found useful landmarks for screens with LCD densities other than 250, please post and I'll update.
If you want to check this out, you'll have to uninstall Button Saviour (if you already have it) for it to successfully install.
If the button menu looks tiny, you might want to get the Spare Parts app and check the box for Compatibility Mode (then reboot). This should increase the size.
If you like it, please thank jerryfan2000 (his thread here), as the app is his creation--my contribution in making this mod was an idea and two blank png images.
Is this file the same one as the site in your sig? I'm assuming thats your site b/c it has all of the info from your thread over in General.
But so you know if you change the Theme to Sense you can get the position of the button without having to play with the numbers.
Also on 0 it wasn't on the bottom of the Volume Down button. I'm gonna guess this is b/c your LCD density is 250 and mine is default but just FYI.

Good point on the LCD density - I'll edit.
Yeah, same file as the one on the site.
I am using this now after switching many times. The visible button on Button Savior drove me nuts. The Softkeys button could be made transparent but it kept floating around so I never knew exactly where it was. But I got this one finally to my liking. I left it in the center on the right side. Easy to find in landscape mode because it is next to the hard home button. For portrait mode I put a very tiny piece of black tape next to the edge of the screen. This allows me to feel exactly where the button is. Works perfectly for me now. Thanks.
*settings are at 260 for the slider, LCD Density is set to 204. I used the Sense Theme of Button Saviour Mod to get the numbers to visually line up with the hard home button in landscape mode and to apply the black tape in portrait mode.
Would it be possible to somehow map the hard home button to the "invisible" app to make the menu appear?
I love Button Savior 5, but it would be great if it appears when the hard home key is pressed. Even better if I could set it to bottom center of the screen in portrait!

I don't think u can map Button Savior that way. You can mount Softkeys that way. Leave the Invisible button Savior installed. Also install Softkeys. Set Softkeys as your home launcher. In the Softkeys settings set the home launcher of your choice and set Softkeys to one home tap and your home launcher to double tap. You will also probabily want to "kill" the Soft keys floating button if u are running Button Savior along with it.
The only problem I can think of with that configuration is that when u hit the Button Savior Home button all u will be doing is opening up the Softkeys buttons unless u double tap it. U may want to set the Softkeys button to a double tap and your chosen launcher to a single tap to avoid that redundancy.
How to set trigger button to bottom center of the screen
Can I set the trigger at the bottom center not on left nor right side?
Thanks a lot!
Hello! Do you have any idea to fulfill this option on galaxy s2? This would be easier to turn off the screen without pressing the side button. For instance, if I press and hold the left touchable button I want to switch my screen off, not open the google searcher. Can it be accomplishable?
down load invisible lock widget free from play store and put it any where on the screen u like

Hi
I have a problem with my XP; suddenly my softkeys have become a lot less responsive. It's the menu key in particular; the back key is the most responsive (a slight tap will do), the home key is ok but you need to press a bit harder and with the whole thumb and not just the fingertip) while I have to repeatedly hit the menu key for it to work. I did go for a run with my phone in my hand, after which I wiped the phone with a damp tissue, so I don't know if that was the perspiration or the water or whatever that affected the softkeys. I am aware that I can get softkeys through rooting but if I can't solve this I want to send it back to the shop so I don't want to root just yet.
Its always good if u just slide ur finger a bit instead of just touching them on soft keys.....

Thanks for your reply but that doesn't work for me for the Menu key. It's even worse than before now
PS if it's any significance the menu key doesn't light up as brightly as the others.
