I downloaded Skype for Windows Mobile on my HTC HD2 and at first it worked just fine, a few days later however it doesn't seem to update my chats for example I had a chat with a friend on my Skype which i was using on my Macbook but later on when i went to my Skype on my HTC HD2 it never updated the conversation and i'm sure it used to do this.
Another thing, my friend updated there bubble message which i can see when using Skype on my macbook but when i look at it using the HTC HD2 it still shows as the old bubble message (a previous one), so it appears it's not updating.
Does Skype actually work properly with HTC HD2, any advice would be appreciated.
Forget Skype Mobile, get Fringe! its million times better and you can skype with it as well as chat on icq, msn, yahoo etc etc
Let me get my A-Hole hat on .....

Can anyone help me find OZ instant messenger? I realy need it..a free download anywherE?
I though that was a blackberry application. If you want a universal IM, try slick from lonely cat software.

no i have it on my wing but ny wife wants it on her wing.
Well a search at ppcgeeks turned up this. I haven't tried it because slick is just fine for me. You might give tis a try. the post that had this mentioned that it was for a vogue so it should be a WM6 program.
It comes standard on blackberry's and as you can tell from my name, i am an ex-blackberry user. Thats where I came up with the blackberry reference. Sorry for the bad info before.

It doesn't seem to work on my XV6800. It installed properly, but It didnt work with WiFi or my data Connection. It does say it's for T-Mobile.
What about the app from the touch diamond or Touch Pro
OZ is for tmobile, uses sms messages to send, receive IMs... went through the same trying to get it on my USCellular ppc6800. the fav i found is IM+ but they want $40 to register... anyone know of any others that do AIM, yahoo, MSN, and MySpace IM?
if you do use tmobile then you can find it here or on modaco.com probably

Fring works awesome on my AP4 I love it and it allows for me to use my bluetooth headset for calls I have configured and tested all services (with the exception of twitter). It does have a strange hick-up in that it mutes my VOIP calls at the start, so manual adjustment is required, I also wish that I could group the services independently, but aside from a few little quirks, it is soo much better than skype ever was... it also allows for integrated phone call history, integrated dial-pad and chat.
Has anyone gotten SMS to work yet? one of my phone contacts is also in skype so it sets her default text messages to her skype account rather than via SMS.
I will play with it a bit more but it answers one of my biggest concerns about skype and it gets us working with bluetooth, as it should have been all along...
Thanks again and hope this helps...

Yes, it is annoying that bluetooth mutes when the call is made and answered... but hey, we got functional voice in skype, google talk etc. and even better Skype voice works over an EDGE connection without trouble. I am impressed.
However, the best quality calls are Fring to Fring calls.
I can't help you with the phone book integration, but maybe the fring fourm people can help.
Thanks for the post and for the tip on the application, I am sure that they will be improving upon the application in the future, I will continue to keep my eyes open for updates... If you have a link to an active user community for fring, let me know.
In the interim, I fully agree and am impressed with FRING

Just a quick update, I have just been trying out the Full rom from Irus and it runs skype with no problems. As irus's rom is WM 6.1 it would indicate that the compatibility problem is not with WM 6.1 but with something else in AP 4.0.
Regards
Jay
Jay, thanks for the great news, please keep us posted on your progress
from what pk explained to me... the roms that run skype are just ports of 6.1 not full 6.1
ap4 is a full 6.1 rom therefor it wont work
skype is incompatible with 6.1
There are known compatibility issues with skype and pk addressed this a few times.Check the ap4 thread by pawel.
edit: deactivate htc home and/or install the htc home from addond.Home is a major resource hog.

I really am pleased with the work you have done so far Steve and have donated already. I wanted to make a request for yahoo messenger video chat to get the front facing camera option like you did for oovoo if its an easy fix. Also if Skype can recognize video chat. 1.7 Runs very smooth and I had to do a factory reset whithin 1.7 to get it working fully. I kept getting stuck in wifi or 3g and could not go to the other. In case someone is experiencing the same issue. always willing to support and will donate again in the future.

I Also am having difficulty pulling up my work contacts when sending a e-mail with the new keyboard. It just freezes when trying to retrieve the contact from the server.

I would be eternally grateful if Master Steve could provide us with a dialer (Gingerbread/GalaxyTab/dontknowwhatelse...) that supports native video calls.
I do not know if this is possible without Dell's help, but i would really really love this feature that even 50 euro cellphones have nowadays.
I think it would be awesome to get a rip of the new "Facebook phone" apk and build it in. Or hell, just the rip would be fine!

I know there's some lengthy workaround to the lack of live/msn support on the Touchpad, but it also seems pretty buggy. Is there a plugin available or client app at all?
Thanks!
I dont have a touchpad yet but if nothing else works you could a web app for it.
For example: http://imo.im

are you talking about the Jabber workaround? If my Gtalk worked I would use it.
The imo site it cool thanks LP.
[Q] Windows live messenger/MSN client or compatability
The default instant messenger client on the touchpad doesn't presently support WLM/MSN. Does anyone know of any plans to create a dedicated app or a plug in for the stock IM application?
I was going to ask the same thing. Seems like search isnt working, but someone mentioned there is hack to get it working. Just wish search was up! grr

seems a bit much for what its worth, but if youve got some free time
If nothing else works you could try install an msn program from UbuntuChroot?
[Q] can you get msn messenger on the touchpad ?
I see the likes of google, aol etc are there, but the most popular one isn't ?
anyway of adding msn messenger to the hp touchpad ?
the only way ive seen is to use the jabber work around, just google 'jabber touchpad' and it will come up, but you need linux to make it work it seems :/ other than that you could always just use ebuddy from the browser doesnt seem to have any discernible lag
Yeah the chat program is a little lame...no MSN or Facebook chat...and the facebook app doesn't include the chat feature...so have to use plain web browser.
Any update on this? I really need/require msn/windows live messenger support
There is a way to do it, when I have a little time I'll see if I can find the site with instructions.

So are you asking if you can use the Amaze and she can use a PC?
If that's your question than the answer is yes.
You can use free programs (for PC) and apps (for phone)
Skype is one. Yahoo Messenger and Yahoo Messenger w/Video is another.
You install the app, she installs the program. And you guys should be able to follow the steps to figure everything else out. Yeah?
Hope that helps.

ummm....google talk comes preloaded with video chat capability and is very good...all she has to do is log into her gmail account and she can chat with you there...I do it all the time with my dad. too bad SGS2 users don't have video chat option with their google talk...and they have to download third party on both ends....
