Already tired of the big white bar at the top. Anyone working on a nice black one?
i hope so too, love the gingerbread look from my nexus.
I worked on one all of yesterday evening/night (broke my ankle), and eventually got it to push without issue. After work this evening I'll be uploading it for Dev's or very knowledgeable users who know how to backup and adb recover to use.
Edit: The bar is a black/ grey gradient to still see the text. I haven't yet messed with xml's to try and change the text colors.
Here's Revision 1...AKA Tacky Edition
Please see this thread for my Gingerbread theme: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974112
thanks, can you post a screenshot of how it looks with the black/grey bar with the current icons?
since this is pretty much first steps of theming, maybe we can pull the icons off of gingerbread framework, those are all "optimized" for black status bar hehe.
Current screenshot is attached.
I will say that I've yet to push the new notification text colors (new services.jar), but will be testing that shortly with gingerbread icons.
I just got my hands on hdpi gingerbread icons, so I'll be testing during the day, and I'll upload it tonight (PST).
I'm planning on making a new topic and a shell script to run on the phone (or .bat on a pc) to make installation easier, and I've been messing with transparencies a bit as well, so expect a few different uploads.
Isn't the cutting edge fun?!
@synergye
How different would it be to push the file to the phone SDcard using USB mass storage and then use root explorer from the phone to move the file to the framework folder?
I tried this way and soft bricked! Don't know what I did wrong!
Any insight?
Are you deodexed? Something I forgot to put in the post above, which I believe is needed to push my deodexed framework file.
I recommend waiting until this evening(maybe sooner for my gingerbread notification bar and services.jar. Im also going to fix my instructions above to say deodexing required.

Nice! Once this has the white text im copying this over
The new theme now has a white clock, and some gingerbread thrown in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974112
any chance we can get the AT&T carrier logo removed as well? I love the black, but that weird gap would probably drive me neurotic after a bit.
I'm planning on removing it next, after adding notification transparency, and doing a bit more overall theming (thinking browser, etc).
Please note that I now have a topic open for this theme: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974112
thanks synergye!

Which wallpaper is that in the image on the left? Can you upload?
I've searched xda and couldn't find anything and I don't know if this is the right area for this, but Is it possible to remove the shortcuts from the sense 3.0 lockscreen? I like the lockscreen because it takes up so little space but the shortcuts can be an eye sore imo. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

These are the reason why I don't like the new sense lock screen, those shortcuts are horrendous.
I did some more searching and found an apk for it. I can't post links yet I don't think but search the thread title basically. Install with root explorer change permissions and reboot. Looks good!

Did you find the .apk?
i found this about some work around to get them to 'disappear'.

it's at least something i suppose.

Still getting the empty bubbles, though..
If you can hold out a bit longer, it appears Sense 3.5 has the option to disable the shortcuts on the lock screen.
If you want to check it out, search Bamf soab. (port of Bliss with sense 3.5)
I got it!
- Extract Idlescreen_Base.apk from /System/App
- Open the file in m10editor.exe
- decompile Lockscreen_shortcut.m10
- in the editor tab expand the last item and you'll see Lockscreen_Shortcut, highlight it and under Known Properties set parameter Visible = 0.
- save the file
- sign the .apk and put it somewhere on your SD-card
Open /system/app with Root Explorer or ES File Explorer, delete the Idlescreen_base.apk
Install YOUR Idlescreen_base.apk with your file explorer and restart your phone.
Voila!
(Creds to dased14 here )
EDIT: Guess you could bake it in your ROM-file and flash the ROM..Never tried it though..
EDIT2: You may have to copy your modded .apk to /system/app after you've installed it.
Hello All,
I am going to "try" and work out how to do this myself with m10tools and the fusion.apk but......
If anyone has already done this, I figure "why re-invent the wheel".
Basically I want the full clock widget to be 3d (for the seperation effect when scrolling homescreens) but for the flip tabs to be black and the numbers in them white.
I had this on sense 1 and 2.1 as can be seen from the attached screenshot.
Thanks in advance

if you ever need help themeing, go to the link in my sig.
as for the clock, there are a few skins on the market with incerted style clocks, there are also likely a few on xda as well.
Ok, here's how I am doing with this:
1. using m10tools and a CDMA fusion.apk (I was told the GSM one wont decompile) I decompiled the shared.m10 for the default skin.
2. I inverted each of the flip clock numbers and the flip background
3. I saved the file and using adb push while in recovery, pushed fusion.apk back to my device.
I have a successful black clock BUT, now when I try to view the Settings Widget, I get no previews. I can still see all widgets when using "browse all htc widgets" but no specifically when looking at the settings widget....
Please help..what else did I need to do apart from the fusion.apk?

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't want espresso style or quite as much of a change, I just am trying to invert the click colours and keep all else stock.

first try zipaligning the fusion.apk and see if that fixes it, but if not, it's possible that since you used a cdma fusion it doesn't have the same ID as gsm in your personalize menu.
I am using LeeDrOiD 5.4, can I take my actual fusion.apk or was I correctly told that this would not decompile?
I recompiled with m10tools and had provided the path to zipalign so I would have thought this was zipaligned when it was recompiled.

that's correct. I guess if you've done that and still have the issue, it's likely because you're using a cdma fusion? Do you get any useful errors in logcat?
I don't know, I have since restored a nandroid until Ican make more progress on creating this skin.
Honestly, I'd rather find some decent instructions on how to create a fully installable skin, like those we download from htc hub, and that would install in addition to the standard skins. If all I did to it was change the clock colour, so what, right?
If anyone can direct me to good info on this that isn't "no longer available" as it's on multiupload, i'd appreciate it.
Hi,
here you have fully working launcher from Defy's older brother Motorola Razr M.
What should I do with it? Follow these steps:
1. unpack zip folder
2. copy Homescreen.apk to system/app via Root Explorer and set permission to RW-R-R, then hit it, and install.
3. Install Widgets and HomeConfig like a usual aps.
4. Reboot, and after that change your launcher to Homescreen forever.
5. Go to settings/developer options then change all three options to associate with animations to x0.5, activate "press back to kill app" and disable adb notification - all these things will help you in your daily use.
Download
__________________________
-Also I recomend you to change CM10 theme to MotoInspired v2.0 (remember to reboot it twice after apply) all thanks to NITRO_100 for his amazing job.
-And to make it more Razr look, change bootanimation to Razr M optimalized by espaciosalter20
-After all steps done, change your wallpaper to default Moto. Razr I included in package
Thanks, mate Could you tell us how well it performs? All the versions posted so far were pretty bad when it came to performance :/
Keen to see how this performs all efforts so far have suffered bad lag and screen res issues.
Last time I used hdpi version of the razr m launcher it was very fast. The one from atrix hd was pretty laggy and buggy.
I'm on sevenrock´s 20130117 build, and must say it, everything works absolutely fine! There are some typical lags as usual on Defy, but its realy worth a try.
There are no screen resolution issues, launcher was resized to fit Defy resolution.

The first step is a bit odd... After copying it to system/app, you cannot install it, that's what the copying was - a manual install. And after that the launcher works fine.
Widgets don't work, though. Will try coping the to system/apps with proper permissions, instead of just installing.
*EDIT* Uninstalled, copied, set RW-R--R-- - still doesn't work. "Problem loading widget." ("The Circles widget is not supported on 3rd party home screens" can be read in the background).
Any help with that? The launcher is pretty neat, and the performance is satisfactory, I think I'll be keeping it Circle Widgets would be a great plus!
*EDIT#2* Just thinking about how well this launcher is going to work on CM10.1 with the 3.0.8 kernel
*EDIT#2* Okay, so I've found the guide somewhere else. The first step is to copy Homescreen.apk to system/apps, set the aforementioned permissions, and then install and let it overwrite the already installed app. Doing that didn't solve the CircleWidgets problem, so I've searched a bit more and found someone saying that it works if you just install Homescreen.apk as a normal app - I did that and Circles really do work
The launcher and the widget are very sweet, I'm keeping the combo! Weather is pretty good, too. But what does the HomeConfig app do?
smoother than any other Atrix HD or Razr launcher
still have some lag
but that clock is so charming
I'll keep it
thanks:good:
I've got to switch back to Trebuchet/Apex/Nova... This pack looks great, but it's killing my phone Launcher, circleWidgets and Weather.apk are all loaded and I feel it's too much for my phone... Moving left to quick settings is always slow, animations of the launcher lag a bit, moving to Favourites in the app drawer lags and widget previews are always slow to show up :/
I will definitely try it out when CM10.1 shows up with the new kernel, that might help
Cheers and thanks for the share, I enjoyed trying it!
Hey, themers!
I've been having an odd problem recently with my ADW. Before I state my question, here are my device/version details:
ADW.Launcher version: 1.3.3.9
Device: Rooted Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight
Android version: 2.1 Eclair
Now, with that out of the way, here's my issue. I like changing my homescreen frequently; using new icons, new wallpaper, new widgets, etc. I've recently been enjoying vanessaem's LipseUI and Lucent Remix icons, as well as King Rollo's 7null icons. Thing is, I've been having to use Deskto VisualizeR (DVR) to get the icons to display correctly, mainly because 1) Android 2.1 doesn't support 97% of icon pack apps, so I have to buy them on one device, install them, copy the .apk out of /data/app, and decompile the .apk so I can use the icon .pngs on my Nook, and 2) When I do [Menu > Add > Custom shortcut > [tap on icon area] > Select and crop picture] in ADW, the transparency in the image I choose, whatever file extension it is, always displays as plain black (which, of course, ruins circular and King Rollo-style icons).
So, my question is: how can I force ADW to display the correct transparency in icons, and not display it as black?
Thanks ahead of time for any input!
Regards,
Nookie
P.S. One thing I've tried is taking one of david1171's Minimalist icon packs (his Minimalist and Minimalist_Black packs are the only icon pack .apks I've ever been able to actually install on my Nook), decompiling it, taking out all of the actual icon pack icons, pasting in all of, for example, the LipseUI icons, recompiling, and attempting to reinstall the .apk, but I always have gotten a parse error, most likely because I don't know how to resign the .apk after recompiling it. Can anyone help me with this option?
P.P.S. Also, please don't recommend I update my Android version - fact is, on my device, 2.1 is the highest Android version to which any devs have ever gotten it.
*cough*
@Ticklefish, perhaps?

Rules are one bump per day max. I would try not to make a habit out of it though IMO. Been a long time since I used 2.1 or adw. Sorry.

He's ok. It's one bump per 24hrs. and I think he's done that.
Anyway, I wish I could help. I'm unable to replicate the issue nor have I used ADW Launcher regularly in quite a long time. Have you tried using another launcher?
I know this may not be what you want to hear, or should I say see, but the fact of the matter is, many icon packs and perhaps ADW may not be fully compatible with Android 2.1. Some features like how things are displayed on the screen and general functionality have changed greatly since Android 2.1.
@rkucheran and @vanessaem, thank you both for your input. I am fully aware of all that you stated, Ms. V, but thanks for ensuring that.
I guess I'll have to do some .apk hacking.

SUMMON ME AND I APPEAR!!
Ahem...
Anyway...
I've never used ADW, so I can't give you any launcher-specific advice. My very first Android was on Eclair (that seems so long ago now) and it could run GO Launcher EX...which does cope with transparent icons. Maybe it's worth trying a different launcher?
Or there's this:

Thank you so much for your kind and insightful input - I'm testing GO Launcher EX right now, to see if it lives up to ADW's standards, and then after that I'll give Tickle My Android a go (it looks awesome!).
Thanks again!
EDIT - After running GO for several hours, I've decided to uninstall it. It takes up too much memory, too much RAM, and isn't as customizable as ADW (which I've had for years).
Time to try TMA!
@rkucheran @vanessaem @Ticklefish
I have solved my problem! :highfive:
By installing QuickPic, using ADW's "Select picture" function (versus the "Select and crop picture" function) and selecting QuickPic as the image chooser, I can now set my app icons correctly, with transparency and everything!
Thank you all for your help, and lastly, I'd like to ask Ms. V to close this thread. :good:

Nookie
