Qeustion
My HD screen is off, and i cant seem to get it on again.
I just was working on it 1hour ago, took it out of my pocket and see that i have no screen.
Rebooted the phone, but no succes .. i see the screen turning on, but it light-gray (backlight) but no actual info/colors etc, also tryd a soft reset, no succes.
I have the Energy ROM Com5 build from 8July with the new 2.12 radio rom.
Could it be that in some way the screen died?
Hope someone can help me, im @ work now so i cant connect it with the PC.
When im home im planning to reflash the device ..
Thanks!
Weird
I just pressed a button and the screen turned on, and the colours/info just slowely fade away ... weird.
Could it be that the touchscreen is not oke anymore?
Or could it be a problem in the radio/rom i use? (and therefore a reflash could fix this?)
Hope its a easy sollution, otherwise ill be flashing it to stock and get it fixed by HTC.
Very very strange.
It seems to work again.
Anyone think i should reflash it to stock and try get a new one?
Are these signs of a screen going defect?
I dont know, first phone for me with touchscreen.
I would suspect a faulty screen, if it is still within warranty i would deffinately get a new one, however yes, try going back to stock first, see if it helps, it may be just a bad flash.
screen problem
I've had this and similar problems with my HD2, now on the 5th replacement from HTC in just 6 months of owning the phone. I also had the same problem on my HTC HD previously. Press the power key and just the buttons at the bottom light up but no response from the screen. Also had exactly the same problem your experiencing where you can faintly see the screen but not lit up. Flash it to stock rom and return to HTC for repair.
BEWARE!!! take some pics with date stamps of your handset before returning. They sent me 3 handsets all with the glass front panel not fitted correctly. Check the return handset carefully, you should be able to feel a lip between the casing and the screen as the screen is set a fraction lower than the casing. THis should be uniform all around. They tried telling me that i had damaged it myself despite calling them as soon as the handset had been delivered back to me.

That's 'sleep of death', which affects loads of htc devices.
Oke i will stock it soon and return for repair.
I think its idd a screen problem, cause when the screen isnt functioning anymore, and when i put my ear on the glass, i hear a little squishing sound, like air is escaping .. it doesnt do that when the screen shows info/colour.

touch pro
screen does not respond!!
everything else works
i feel it vibrate when it turns on, the light in the center button lights up when charging
my friend was able to call me, and the lights and my ringtone went off
the keyboard lights up, the part below the screen with the center button works and lights up
basically yeah, everything except the screen works!
i tried taking the battery out and i did a soft reset
dont really want to do a hard reset (will all my contacts get erased?)
looked around the forum briskly for anything related to my problem but didnt find any
what should i do? i really need my phone to be working T__T
possibly...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=533350
typical problem with the touch pro...because its a slider you probably need to replace the flex cable from mother board to screen, i had same problem with mine i thought at first it was the digitizer but dont be fooled.
back up the pim file on the computer and see if you can get the phone replaced under warrenty would be my suggestion.
Not sure if you have fixed the problem yet or not but I just recently had this same issue. I replaced the phone under warranty and before I sent it back I installed MyMobiler to navigate the phone and save any files I wanted to keep locally on my PC. Obviously activesync saved all my contacts and whatnot as well.
The sad part was I had only had the phone a month and 2 weeks so they couldn't give me a brand new replacement since it was over the 30 days, so I had to settle for a Re-Man. blah
Oh well good luck mate!
I have the same problem. I just called tech support and had them sent me a new one. Something that may elongate your use before you get it replaced, press down on the screen between the lower buttons and the LCD screen (the Verizon logo). It seems that the more that i do it, the worse it get, but slowly. Here is a video of me making it work.
Good luck!
Well I did it... Broke the screen a couple of weekends ago. Ordered and received a new one. (No problem and not too bad price-wise) Then I ordered the correct screwdriver. That came in yesterday and I followed a couple of tutorials online to take the thing apart. Not too bad despite the teeny-tiny parts. I got it back together and lo-it worked! Actually it took a couple of tries and I reflashed it but then it booted right up. All the apps seemed responsive and life was good once again...
Until I tried to make a call. Then the screen went dark and it appeared that the phone froze up. Called myself from the house phone and discovered that the Aria was dialing, connecting, and sending voice but that I couldn't hear anything on the Aria.
Disassembled, re-set the earpiece, reassembled, called myself again, and I could hear. The screen came on and stayed on, but the touchscreen would not function.
Disassembled, checked all the connections, and reassembled again. The phone appears to work correctly in all aspects until I try to make or receive calls. At that point the screen shuts down and the only way to disconnect a call (or get the screen back) is to pull the battery and reboot.
I tried reflashing the ROM and that didn't work. I'm afraid the transceiver is shorting the screen out somehow but have reached the limits of my expertise.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jerry
I have never had to replace my digitizer so only speaking from what i have read but it sounds like the very small rubber piece that covers the proximity sensor. I have read that if missing or not placed correctly people have had the same problem as you. Just my thoughts
I've replaced my digitizer and I have had the exact same problem. E.Cardo is correct, it is the small rubber piece on the proximity sensor not positioned correctly or not present at all.
Thanks to both of you. The proximity sensor is supposed to be right behind the ATT logo, correct?
I can't wait to get home and try this. I really don't like the backup Cliq Xt... I'll post once I've messed with it.

It's hard to see them exactly so I took a picture to show exactly where they are:

It's actually just above the & in the at&t logo, although if you have a replacement digitizer, it might not have the at&t logo on it. If you have trouble seeing it, try looking at it in the sunlight.
To add to what drumist said there as small black rubber piece that goes around the proximity sensor that prevents light seepage and allot of people discard it by mistake when disassembling the phone.

Why did you have to reflash? The new screen didn't worked?.
My aria's screen is broken too. I boutgh a new one but It doesn't work. Do you resolve this reflashing? (that's mean applying the new rom version from ATT)
Thanks for your response.

The screen or digitizer are hardware they should have nothing to do with the rom. The op only tried flashing the phone to illuminate it is a possible source of the problem. It sounds like you did not install the new screen or digitizer correctly you may need to disassemble and make sure everything is connected correctly and securely. Flashing your phone will most likely not correct your problem.

Maybe, just maybe, there are new drivers for the touchscreen included in the rom. I am using cyanogen 7.0.3 without problems, and it works nice with the old screen.
Or the new screen is defective.
I am pretty sure I installed correctly the new screen. Of course the old one is working fine right now.
I requested a new screen so I will wait...
Thanks again.
Hello.
When I leave my phone in sleep mode (screen locked and light off) and try to wake with On/Off button, sometimes I get a black screen with a faintly image. The touchscreen works and all the buttons, and if you click 2 times On/Off button - the image appears all ok. I tried to flash another stock ROM - all the same. Then I`ve unlocked the bootloader, rooted the phone and even did the S-off with wire trick (1.53 Hboot). Then I`ve tried 3-4 custom ROMs with 6-7 different kernels, from stock to custom, but all the same. Yes, I`ve updated the firmware file, also, but with no difference.
Well, I see that this problem is not so usual, but I couldn`t find any real solution. Did anyone have this kind of problem and solved it? Since I got this phone from another country - official warranty is out of the question, I need a DIY solution.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
THX in advance!!!
I would have to say it looks like the light for your screen is dying, I had my screen replaced once, my screen would flicker from very dark to very bright

hmmmm, but when I get the OK image - it doesn`t flicker or go from dark to bright, it only has trouble to "wake up from sleep mode". even when i relock the screen quickly and don`t leave it unused for 2-3 minutes, the screen works OK every time....it looks like a software problem, but still I didn`t manage to fix it with all the ROMs/kernels/firmwares I`ve flashed....

Thinking about how to troubleshoot if hardware or software. When in sleep mode, instead of using the power button, I would have the phone plugged into a computer and use the " adb reboot " command to reboot the phone without touching the phone a few times and see if it lights up correctly. The first thing you should see is the boot screen, and if it works every time, then you do have an issue with your firmware. If you don't see that boot screen first every time, then as much as it sucks, I would guess there is a hardware issue.
Good luck, but this is the easiest way I know of to help determine what the issue likely is.
Minor update here, the first thing (at least on mine) that I see is the lock screen for just a quick second or two, then it quickly goes into the boot sequence. This is important as in "sleep" the ROM is running, so if the first thing you see is the boot sequence every time, and not the lock screen, then it points more to a software problem than a hardware issue. CM9 had an issue for the epic4g where you had to turn it off and on sometimes to get the keyboard to light. They found the issue in the firmware causing it.
Just wanted to make this as accurate as possible.
Wow so I am not the only person with this problem. The EVO 3D that I have was replacement phone that was given to me from Sprint from the first EVO 3D that I had which had issues with the digitizer. I received the replacement phone this past Tuesday and it worked fine for two days. It was not rooted and I did install the ICS update. On Friday morning I took it off the charger and went to work, while in the break room the screen suddenly went black and I could not get the phone to display anything after that. The Android function buttons at the bottom will light up but the screen wont, the phone also gets hot even with it powered off.
Long story short, I took it back to the Sprint store where they ordered me yet another replacement EVO 3D. Has anyone had to go through 3 EVO 3Ds or more?

Excellent thinking, I didn't think in that direction. I'll try this tomorow, since I'm not at home. My personal oppinion that it's a software problem but if I did all the above - what did I miss? If I flashed the firmware, ROM and kernel, what else is left untouched that could affect the LCD? Could anyone suggest a good kernel? Or can I downgrade the firmware, since no one had such a problem with GB?
just to inform all - I tried all soft solutions, but all the samo. finaly - I replaced the LCD and everything is OK.
THX all for help
Hi
Cutting a long story short, is there a screen calibration app/menu option for the S3? I cracked my screen the other week, and I have had the screen replaced (not by samsung). Ive noticed now that the screen intermittenly sometimes sticks, becomes non responsive and/or the image "vibrates" when I long press on an app to move it. OR when I try to hang up a call, 9/10 times the press doesnt "register"
Before I go and moan at the shop I got it repaired at, is there any app or any way of calibrating the screen ?
I should mention that the phone is not running a stock rom. It wasnt before the screen was replaced and everything ran flawlessly, even with the crack Now I'm no expert but I would suggest they've either fitted a dodgy screen / there's a loose connection or it needs calibration.
If anyone's wondering it is on Temasek's CM11 unofficial build. Although I had it on CM 11 for a while and the problem persisted.
I suspect it is a hardware issue with the replacement screen but I thought I'd ask.
Cheers
Andrew
Flash a full stock rom to test but it sounds like you've a hardware fault.
*#0*#
This is screen test function of sammy based roms. if you want you can try your screen with this
You cant calibrate capacitive screens
GT-I9300 cihazımdan Tapatalk kullanılarak gönderildi
If I remeber correctly this behavior happens when the screen is repaired without that special adhesive layer which originally glues everything together.
Back on stock rom, tried the calibration/diagnostic screen.... no dice, according to that it works ok lol.
It looks like I'm going back to the shop I got the repair done, to try and get them to fix it (again!) Bet they will try and charge me more money tbh I am almost at the point of living with it BUT I had two phone calls I could not answer today because the screen wasn't working properly, and that will not do
Edit :- found the accessibility options which allows me to answer/end calls using the hardware buttons. Still a bit gash but better than nothing.
Will see what the shop says, less urgent now, at least I have a way of answering the damn thing lol.
(UPDATE: Here is a link to a short video of my issue: https://youtu.be/YqKW3tU4Fhw)
So I cant seem to find ANY info relating to this issue aside from results for the LG G4, but the solutions for said phone are all over the place. Some are bad screen, some are related to sim tray, some are related to water damage and battery etc. So basically, about a month after buying this phone (KIW-L24 US version), the screen started to artifact and flash in and out randomly. There is nothing that seems to trigger it. I have set the phone down on a table while on the homescreen and watched the lightshow. It is basically a mixture of the problems seen in these videos (Feat. LG G4).
https://youtu.be/gAUkXLR7eQI And https://youtu.be/QstOH66pfiU.
Symptoms:
Screen will randomly start to flicker and fade in and out. I will also get crazy artifacting lines. (Think de-gaussing an old CRT monitor or simillar to what is seen in the second video)
If i see the problems happening, locking the phone and unlocking again will sometimes fix it temporarily. Other times the problem continues after i turn the screen back on.
Sometimes the screen will refuse to come back on. The backlight turns on, and the digitizer responds, but the screen is still black. Making sure the screen really is off, I can come back to the phone a few minutes later and it will turn on. Other times ill have to hard reset the phone (hold power button 10 sec) and it usually brings the screen back to life.
Background:
I bought the phone "used - Like New" from amazon. It came with all the original accessories and even still had the film protector on the back of the phone. I may have noticed these problems after I received the phone, but they really only started to show about a month after purchase.
At first I though it could be software related as I was running CM13 and something could have been corrupted, so i did not just a factory restore, but a full reflash. This didn't solve the issue. Restarting my phone and the reflash did help, but the problem returned. The inability to turn the screen on persists through a reset and I have to wait till the phone boots again to get the screen back. Sometimes takes more than one reboot. This pretty much confirms a hardware issue right? If i put the phone on a black screen, i can see three small fuzzy "dots" in a triangle shape in the top left quadrant. Could the screen have been damaged by whoever owned it before returning it? They are not dead pixels per se, but seems more like areas where the backlight is showing through ever so slightly more. Not visible unless you are on a black screen in a dark room. Ill upload a video showing some of the issues. Any help is appreciated!
im afraid you need a new display brodar...
Seems to be hardware issue. You can visit the nearest service center to get it fixed for few bucks if you don't have warranty.
Yeah that's what i figured, i just needed conformation. I was able to get amazon to take the return even though I was out of the return period. So at least ill be able to get a refund. Ill just pay the extra for a new one this time haha.
One question : Do u have over heat problem with ur phone ?? If u feel ur phone is more than work from the back dont replace . U'll damage the new screen also . Some ppl erported over heat cpu issue with honor ! ;.

Try moving to stock once , if it fixed stick to it for few days . 99% of possible cases for hardware issue .
So better request for a replacement from huawei . but don't mention them that u bought it used . tell them u bought it new
