My Volume Down button doesn't even really click anymore, I guess flashing roms like its no tomorrow is the culprit.
Different phone, but same idea: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=698483
Maybe that'll be a quick fix. I dunno, I'm tired and it's late, so I'm off to bed. Good luck...

Hey,
As the topic title suggests I f'ed up and dropped my Mozart. Now the entire powerbutton on the little motherboard snapped off internally, I checked.
Any chance there is a softwares with which I can bind the cambutton to do the powerbuttons work, and even more important, get an icon for the cam somehwere on the phone
I really love my mozart, I've checked around the registry but couldnt find anyhting myself. Since i'm still learning I'd love some help.
Tx.
In settings -> camera, allow the camera to wake up the device. Use the button to wake up, and then press home. Set the screen lock to 30s, and use that to lock it.

Hey mate
I thanked you for it, but I already figured that out myself. I got one step further even. I figured out that if the USB port gets a 100mA 5v current it will function as the "unlock" button. I put a few small batts in series and connected + and - of the USB PWR wires. Works like a charm
Still I would love to find some s/w which lets me change the h/w buttonmapping of the unlockbutton to the cambutton.
Oke lol problem solved. Plugging a headphone jack in the top also unlocks it. I will carry a cut off headphonejack with me at all times from now on. Epic lulz
Now all I need is a software lockbutton so I dont have to wait 30secs all the time.
why not just have the power button repaired.. its under warranty.. unless you broke the warranty.. anyway can you please post a picture of what had happened to the power button so I can see if that can be fixed or not.

I repair phones myself, it cannot be fixed otherwise I would've fixed it The PCB is damaged around the powerbutton and short-circuitting the right pins won't turn it on any longer. I would post a pic if I could, but the only cam in the house is in the Mozart
I wish I was a s/w dev now instead of a h/w guy cuz then I would've coded an app which would make me soft-lock the phone
Warranty doesnt work for me unfortunately. Lost the receipt.
If a viable solution doesnt emerge in the forums I'll have to learn the basics of programming for WinPhone 7 and code myself a quick and dirty app to fix it. C'est ca

The only way to do that would be to put Android on the phone, and find an app for it. Windows Phone 7 will not let any app do this (unless it was created by the OEM or Microsoft).
Have you looked into replacement parts, or is it purely with the circuitry? You could also try your luck with HTC- they may do it.

The button snapped of but took a tiny bit of circuitboard. Seems to have taken too much for it to be fixed.
Do you know if Win Phone 7 will allow softwarebased locking of the screen? Before I'm gonna start learning .net and silverlight for nothing

As far as I know, I don't think so. (Simplification coming up) The way .NET works (especially on this phone), is that it has a list of functions you can tell the phone to do. If a function isn't included, you pretty much can't do anything past that.
Orange Insurance
I did exactly the same yesterday. Dropped my Mozart and the power button doesn't seem to work. I've not pulled it apart to check but the button feels like its come away or snapped off the PCB.
I want to take the chance to praise Orange UK's insurance. I dropped the phone Yesterday (Sunday) at 14:30, I've been told by orange a new handset will be with me before 13:00 Today (Monday). That's, if anyone can't add up, within 24 hours!
Well worth £5 a month! I do believe Orange do a similar thing for PAGO customers. So it might be worth while just getting a PAGO sim (Free), topping it up with what it needs for the insurance and claiming for a new handset. Just an idea.
Notice for ALL Mozart users, don't drop your Mozart!
Is there a way to disable my trackball for somereason itt scrolls itself down every 10 or so seconds its not a huge problem but its annoying as hell

Did you know that you made two threads with the same question?
As far as disabling the trackball, someone has probably done it; I think only through hardware though, not software. You'd have to take apart your Eris and disconnect the appropriate wiring to the trackball.
Your mileage may vary, but before you do that you could try some things that have worked for different people.
You can press VERY hard on the trackball while rolling it around in the different directions and then see how it behaves afterwards. Well, I can't really think of other examples of what people have tried.
Mine only misbehaves while it's plugged in, normally, and then only when I touch anywhere near the trackball or touch the charging cable. The proximity of the USB port and the trackball is one of the reasons the trackball misbehaves. Once in a great while, every couple months or so, I have to press down hard and roll it a while again, and I pressed so hard at one time that I can't actually normally scroll left, but I can scroll the other directions, which is fine, it doesn't bother me that often.
Is your phone rooted? The reason I ask is that there is a replacement version of Amon RA recovery which doesn't require the trackball, in case yours stops working altogether.
I am *not* responsible for what may happen to your phone as a result of my advice.
It may have been because it was plugged in thanks for the advice. it is rooted running froyo because that seems to be the only fast rom

You're welcome. I forgot until now also that sometimes jiggling the USB cord at the phone end sometimes helps (expect the trackball to definitely go wonky while doing so, of course). It may take unpredictable combinations of both this and pressing while rolling the trackball to make things a little better, also.
had my atrix for a year and a half, its never given me problems until now! nooooooooo
not sure how it happened but instead of the power button clicking when you press it, it has just randomly stopped clicking, the button still works but you have to push it really hard and it feels awful, my guess is that something has gotten underneath! iv tried scraping around the fingerprint scanner gaps with a needle to clear out any dirt but no luck im afraid
any ideas how i can fix this?
Well, since no one else has chimed in, I'll try to help. I tried finding a detailed picture of the button mechanism, but unfortunately I can't find one hi-res enough to look at. It sounds like you may have gotten some sand in the button or even in the switch itself. You might be able to low it out with compressed air while someone works the button, but again, it's hard to say without really being able to see exactly how it's put together and you don't want to take it apart unless you absolutely have to.
My nexus 10 will not stop bootloooping no matter what I do. it reboots every 5 seconds no matter what. Ive tried rebooting into revocery but I cant select "recovery" because for some reason the volume buttons are not working. Ive also tried plugging it into the charger and into my laptop. 4
Any way to fix this? (still bootlooping as I post this)
I would try accessing Bootloader. If you can do that, then you can factory restore.

What did you do to initiate this bootloop if I may ask?

I was cleaning my buttons as they were sticky but im sure that was the actual cause of this.
Im worried that If i have to contact Samsung to get it replaced (assuming they replace it) that they might not like the fact that I unlocked my bootloader.

Stuck or shorted volume down button. If it were a remote control (tv) with a soda spill causing it to stick or water shorting out the contacts, I would say to remove the battery, disassemble the keys and spray it down with a good electronics contact/component spray, let it dry out and put it all back together and you would be good to go.
I don't know if I would risk taking apart the n10 myself. If you did, be careful with the spray on plastic... A mild cleaner/alcohol which may damage the plastic. If you were cleaning it with water, you may get lucky and it could dry out on its own in a few days... If you have an air compressor or even 'a can of air', you could try that to dislodge whatever is making the button sticky or even moisture. (use canned air cautiously since it can create more moisture if over used... Just quick sprays around the button).
Last, I don't think Samsung would have an issue with rooting it... It's not a software issue and I also don't think cleaning out the button would be covered under the manufacturer warranty. Something you might have to pay the bill on.
Thanks everyone for your replies. Thankfully all has been resolved through Google's customer support. They are sending me a new NExus 10 free of charge. I cannot stress how awesome their support was and am thoroughly impressed.
Thanks again guys!! This community rocks.

Good to hear!
hey guys,
I think the power button on my EVO 4g LTE is going bad...
Initially I thought it was a ROM issue, but after re-flashing, I am lead to believe that the button itself is going bad.
Sometimes it will take more than one press to turn on / off the phone. The button itself feels mushy, and I've tried to blow some compressed air into it with no avail.
I have found a replacement power button and I plan on replacing it myself, not a big deal... Just curious if anyone else has experienced this with their evo before?
thanks

nope never have, Though there are some power button software mods out there in SuperJelly and some others that you can use to keep that button feeling Fresh, Funky, And FLY!
>.> coffee, the things it makes you say.
Also Sweep2Wake will solve this issue in the future as well in a bunch of kernels out there.

The screen lag is a known issue with CM10.2, which is why you didn't experience that on stock.
I'm using mean bean again and still the power button doesnt work half the time. Gonna try some stock rims I guess
