Tmobile Hard case! - myTouch 3G Slide Accessories

hey guys i bought this hard case which is featured on the tmobile site from http://www.all4cellular.com/mytouch-slide-protective-case.html for 10 bucks and tmobile sells for 35 so got a deal check it out also have included pics for you to see how the case fits it comes with back cover , screen protector , and front bezel protector.

How easy does it snap in and out? I'm thinking of getting a case like that to glue to my dash for a quick car mount.

What kind of screen protector did it come with? static cling or is it part of the case?

I don't like how frigging thick those are. That's the one that is about identical to the old Body Glove ones. If you use the belt clip and hit anything, the screen can pop out. Just a note.

Static cling screen protector and
It's pretty secure doesn't pop out or it hasn't yet

does the screen protector cover the buttons or just the screen?

I bought one of these about a week after I got my slide back on June 2...The back side of the case has small tabs that grab the phone. Those wore out after taking it off 3 times or so when I was rooting the device. While it protected the phone nicely, it didn't survive just a few times of stressing the tabs.
I'm looking for something else. I was still within the 30 day period, so I got my money back.
YMMV... :-/

I went thru 4 different cases and none of them will slide up smoothly. The tabs sticks up thus cannot slide up and will require force. I will stick to the Zagg Invisible Shield for this.

[Q] is there a single good case for the slide?

I've been looking for a case for my Slide since I bought it on launch day, and I haven't seen one positive review of a case. The general consensus seems to be any hard-shell case has some sort of tab system holding the two pieces in place, but when you slide the phone open or take the case off it wears down the tabs until they eventually snap off. Every single hard-shell case I've seen reviewed has this issue. All the reviews on xda seem to be cursing the crappy quality of the cases, whether it be from t-mobile or a third party site or ebay. Does anyone have a recommendation for a solid durable case? I can't believe this phone has been out for 2+ months now with not a single good case. Thanks in advance.
I'm still looking for a replacement battery cover. Don't want a full case, and want a cover that is not slick. Not interested in those stick-on things as it adds bulk.
I love the silver case w/ kickstand from t-mobile. Very well made, no problems with it at all.
The kickstand is great for conference calls (don't have to lay the speaker or the mic to the ground) or watching videos.
i like the look of the silver case, but i have a red slide and i don't feel the colors compliment each other very well
if they were to make a black version of that case i'd be all over it.

Thanks! The case looks like a monster but I'm not too worried about bulk since the phone itself is already huge. Also nice to get another one of the t-mo screen protectors that cover the buttons too since I'm worried about getting dust under the screen.
I use the tmobile case also, which is actually made by bodyglove. its worked great for a few months now but I started having issues with it today. by the way it comes with a screen protector.

i have the same case, i dropped mine maybe 2 times with the case on and most of those gay ass tabs broke off, making it useless now cause it wont stay on
Yes tangrams those tabs are horrible. That's the issues I had. After taking it on and off a few times it'll start not wanting to snap completely on. If you are going to root or rom your phone leave it off until your done or you'll be buying a new case. Lack of a good case is what lead me to dump that phone and get a vibrant this past weekend.

I've used 5 cases from PDAIR.com. Aluminum, classic, professional black or white. Hugs the phone as close as a metal case can. They're 20 to 30 dollars but the quality and sturdiness have saved 5 phones from falls that would have easily shattered the screen.
Well worth the money, check them out.

I have a VZW Soft touch case on ($20.76) and a set of Quamtix (Idk somethin lk that) screen protectors. Im obsessed with my **** being clean too lol
No case, just an invisible shield. Works for me.
Invisible Shield + Seidio Innocase Surface 2 combo.
Not my favorite case I've ever had for a phone, but its growing on me.
The case part I like just fine, its the holster that I'm adjusting to.
Ive got a double case from verizon and a screen protector from them too. I have to say that both of them are great, the case makes the phone feel like a tank and the screen protector doesn't distort the screen at all.
Ice got to say that I an very happy with both of them and out was a decent value, $50 for both and a car charger (which is in my dodge charger, how ironic )
Phone is naked for now... trying to decide on what I want to do still... It's rooted with S-OFF though... this is my first android phone and i love it so far..
Completely naked and will stay that way.

it showup when after you pickup the phone.
I had my Eris completely naked for over a year and only one small scratch on the screen- kept in my pocket 90% of the time. Not sure if the Tbolt has the same glass. Assume yes or something similar.
Worried about scratching the glass so I just installed a PhantomSkinz screen protector and white Chromatics film on the back. Looks nice but we'll see how it holds up (corner peel?).
I never use a screen protector, i dont shove my phone in my jeans pocket. I might have to do what i did to my incredibles silicone case....cut out room for the extended battery. I think this time im going to dremel out a plastic or the hard rubber case to fit this beast. For now im just using my gps neoprene case and it works ok for the time being.
I've got a black silicon case on mine but I hate it. I ordered a Seidio hardcover to replace it. The silicon one gets all linty and stuff, and it's very hard to get in and out of pockets without it falling of. I don't have a screen protector either.
Nothing on mine as usual

Just Bought the Seidio Active Case

I just purchased the Seidio Active case from Amazon. This is the site. When I ordered from Amazon, I made sure to get the same product ID number. It should arrive next week. I'll let you know how it is.
Jim
Received the case today. I have never owned a Seidio case before. It is the Active case. To fit the phone in, you have to remove the hard plastic exo-skeleton from the soft rubbery case. You then slip the phone into the soft rubbery case and then fit the exo-skeleton around that. It fastens at each corner and in the middle of the long sides.
The microphone hole at the top is about half covered by the soft rubbery case. I think I can make the hole bigger with a paper clip or something sharp. The bottom microphone hole is perfect. The plastic exo-skeleton has a bit of a rubbery grip to it. It doesn't slide into my pocket as easily as the old silicon case I had.
The thing that bothers me the MOST is the lip around the phone face. It sits fairly high off the screen of the phone. It's irritating to hit the space bar on the keyboard when in landscape mode. Of course, I'll get used to it. It's definitely better than the silicon case from Worst Buy. I just wish that Speck made a candyshell case for this phone. It'd be an instant purchase for me.
Just got mine from eBay. I had o e for my cappy and loved it

Good luck, I used an Innocase on my Captivate and was rewarded with a lot of scratches and scuffs on the body of the phone.
With cases like these, you should occasionally take them off to clean out the dust that gets trapped in and causes those scuffs.

I don't know. I'm guessing no, since most other cases don't have the room. I'm also not sure how this phone could get scratched due to dust between the case and the phone. The case is soft rubber, so it's unlikely to get scratched. I'm still trying to get used to putting this in my pocket. haha

So I discovered that my voice sounds muffled when I have the case on. I removed the case and sounded better. So I guess I have to adjust the hole in the soft rubber. Not sure how best to do it.

Get a small screw driver/normal sized nail and heat it up on the stove or with a lighter. Works great. Just be quick so that rest of the plastic doesn't start to melt.

I actually took a clicker pen, and 'unfolded' the soft silicon over a piece of paper on a plastic cutting board. I placed the hole of the clicker pen over the spot I wanted to "punch out." I twisted both the pen and paper/silicon case combination until it popped out the piece I wanted. It worked amazingly well. I didn't want to use heat as I didn't want the case to look melty. If I had a pen with a metal clicker end (instead of plastic) I could have repeated the procedure again. The secondary mic is not between the I9100 and I777 holes, it's more to the right of those holes. Either way, it's working much better now.
As far as a screen protector...I've had no issues with them not fitting or needing to be modified so that it would fit.

Does the Note needs a screen protector (SP)? Personally I would say hell yeah but to each their own. At least with a screen protector, you get a scratch, you can always replace with a new protector. W/O a SP, you risk your device in getting scrathed up. Plus, with today's SP, you will likely not notice the difference. Always err on the safe side & better to be protected than not to be. Plus, resale value is higher if your phone isn't all scratched up. That extra $15-$20 for a SP goes a long ways.
I do it because I rather spend the $15 for piece of mine and extra perfection. Looks just as good, super thin, and I'm superficial about my phone

I'd say yes. I managed to scratch this "scratch resistant " Gorilla Glass very easily. Since then, I tried a few different things to remove the scratch. Guess what? It did not remove. The ONLY way I was able to remove it was to get a new phone. Since then, a SP has been on as getting new phones isn't as easy now that I'm past my 30 days.

your choice. some people like em, some don't.
I haven't had one on any of my gorilla glass screen phones for the last 3 years and never will.
I purchased the Spigen SGP Glas t. Premium Tempered Glass Series Screen Protector for my Note earlier this week. After applying it and playing with it for two days, I am convinced it is one of the best accessories ever for a phone. Insulation for a screen without degradation in quality. I love it. I hate to admit it, but I actually purchased one of the horribly overpriced Moshi screen protectors at the ATT store, and, even though I have applied hundreds of screen protectors on my phones over the years, this one is the absolute best one I have ever used; its super easy to apply perfectly, with a sort of "template" sheet that the protector gets shipped on, and there are almost no smudges, no screen darkening, and it fits perfectly!
Do you "need" a screen protector? No, the phone works fine without it..
should you put one on? to me, its the first thing I put on the phone before I even take the factory plastic off the phone..
And, down the road, when you go to sell your phone, or trade it in, you will get maximum return if you keep the thing looking like brand new..
I haven't had a protector on my note yet. I was thinking of maybe getting the steinheil protector because of all the issues people are having with the glass one.
So far the gorilla glass has held up just fine for me. No marks at all, I still don't even have a case on this thing
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
if I wasn't such a klutz, I would keep it case free too..
another solution is Wrapsol; which I have had on a few phones, with leaves it pretty naked, but puts a clear shield on any area that you want protected..
Would you rather have a SP and not need it or need a SP when you don't have it (like when you accidentally drop that bad boy)?

My girlfriend managed to get a small scratch on her screen within a week of use (screen protectors were already on order), so yes i think a sp is essential if you want to avoid damage.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA Premium HD app
I use one of the Steinheil for two reasons, and scratches isn't one of them.
1. Anti-glare. The proper Steinheil protector is great for this.
2. Smudges/fingerprints. I find that the Steinheil doesn't attract the oils from your hands nearly as much as native Gorilla Glass.
The texture is the only thing I'd really worry about - it feels weird to some. I usually stop noticing it after 2-3 days.
On my past 3 Android phones, I haven't ever used Screen Protectors. I hate the feel and look of most of them (I know there are certain that are glass, or feel pretty much fine, but many never feel like awesome smooth glass, almost a texture sometimes), and I sometimes feel cases end up pushing up the edges, making it look like **** and needing to be replaced. Or it gets tweaked sliding it in and out of my pocket.
For good measure, WM HTC Touch Pro ended up with zero scratches on screen, lived in a case at first, then without because it was such a brick. It had a SP at first, but eventually it peeled and I said **** it. Phone felt better without (Resistive Screen with stylus). It died when I gave it to my GF for a loaner, and she dropped it and left it in a river for awhile...on the first day she had it. (my phones are in constant peril!)
The HTC Aria ended up with zero scratches and still in mint cond when I moved on to an HTC Inspire 4G. Had been dropped onto Concrete, wood, etc from at least 4 feet on occasion. Protected by HTC TPU smoked case from ATT store for entire life.
HTC Inspire 4G ended up with one very slight vertical scratch toward the far right side of the screen. I only noticed it when the screen was off, never noticed it with my finger sliding onto it, or in general use. It had a rough life, and I was happy/surprised that was the only damage it ever received. Standard drops from about 4 feet onto assorted surfaces like concrete, hardwood floors, etc. Protected by Case-Mate Tough Case from ATT store for entire life.
My GNote is still without a scratch. Has only really been dropped on carpet, and a few small drops onto hardwood floors from about 3 feet. Protected by Speck Candyshell from ATT store, then Trident Aegis (kinda **** imo), and now Cruzerlite Androidified TPU (sucked at first, broken in and a few mods with the punch from a hole puncher, now perfect).
I keep all of my phones in my front right jeans pocket with the screen against my leg, and I never leave the ATT store without a case (even if I know I'll be getting a diff case very soon). I never put anything else in my phone pocket. Also be aware if your pants have very sharp/exposed rivets above your pocket. Clean out your pockets before you wear them. Turn them inside out if you can/use packing tape or something to make sure all the possible grit/**** is gone. It's entirely possible to get sand/dirt/whatever in there, and have it remain even after washing.
When I travel by motorcycle (85% of the time), my phone goes in a ziplock bag as well, and then I put it in my backpack, or occasionally front left breast pocket of my jacket. I think if you are aware of the fact that you are carrying a $600+ device in your pocket, you can easily avoid scratches. All of the cases I use have a sufficient lip to set the phone face down, but I RARELY ever set them face down (grit/sand/etc can be so small and so easily scratch)
TL;DR-I've had great luck without a Screen Protector and prefer to run without them. Many have had the opposite and much prefer a SP for extra peace of mind. Do what you are comfortable with.
Streak & Note
Had a dell streak for about 14 months. First 3-4 months had a screen protector on it, for nothing else because I had 3 win-mobile phones that the bottom area where the stylus is used, had scratches.
When the protector starting peeling off, I just chucked it. I used a soft belt case for well over a year w/o issues. Not one scratch.
When I got the Note in mid December, I didn't even bother with one. I use a Seidio ultimate case, and have had no issues, and, I use the s-pen daily.
Unless you are rough on your device, toss it around or carry it in your pocket with change & car keys, I wouldn't put one on it.
It's scratch RESISTANT, not scratch PROOF.

Get Dat Screen Protector

Went naked on my note 2 for the longest time. Well, not naked I had a samsung flip cover but I dont consider this thing any type of real protection. Anyway I decided after owning the phone for 4 months no scratches I was going to put wet screen protector on it for the heck of it. Early this morning while talking on the phone and exiting my car the inevitable happened and I dropped my phone from ear height straight onto the coarse cement of my driveway.
In a slow mo type fasion I gasped for air as my beautiful beast spread its flip cover open as if taking flight and dove screen first onto the jagged cement. I sat there in shock not wanting to pick it up and flip it over I fear of a shattered or severely beaten screen. When I grabbed the phone and looked at the screen protector it was full of welts and heavy dings everywhers but the phone was fully functional and there was no other visible damage to the device.
I hurried and peeled back the screen protector to see if it was just holding together a shattered screen but to my surprise there was not a single ding, scratch, ping, smudge, nothing. It was just as good as when I had bought the phone. Moral of the story a good acreen protector will protect far beyond just the occasional pocket scratch. In this case I believe it saved the phone from certain screen shatter or at the very least heavy scratches and dings. The flip cover on the other hand wont do anything to protect the screen outside of pocket lint scratches.
Yup. Screen protectors... Protect screens...
Lol, but seriously I never run without one, and often buy the screen protector while waiting on my phone to ship, case too. Hate running naked, no need. I use XtremeGuard full body protectors from Ebay. Just as good as zagg or others, for 1/5 the price (usually 5.99 for my N2). Good people too. Lol ya I know the screen protector is there to protect the screen I just think alot of people thought (inclusing myself) that a good protector did nothing but keep pocket lint, keys, sand, etc from scratching the screen. But In my case it literally saved the phone from certain screen damage beyond the realm of just a few small scratches.
My next purchase is to ditch this stupid flip cover and grab a otterbox commuter case to protect the rest of the device. The drop did cause a small nearly microscopic chip right around the outside of the left chrome bezel but I can live with that. Even if I were to sell the phone it's so small I would probably have to point out the flaw for anyone to notice.
Full body protector, for only 3.99 (http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=350670223862). Great quality, he just manufactures them himself, and mails in an envelope (it's secured inside from bends and whatnot) with a screen cloth and applicator card.
Like i said, excellent quality, your just not paying for a box with five parts/doors/compartments and/or a name. The only brand I've put on my n2 (2 separate, every 6 mo I replace) and have used them on my girlfriend's and my last 2 phones as well, in combination with either an O-box or Trident case. Ultimate protection, but I prefer Defender over Commuter, however, I use an extended battery, and need the Defender really.

For those with screen protectors installed, how does it affect the SPen? This is my only fear of putting one on my N2,that the use of the SPen after a while would actually markup the protector and/or the protector would interfere with the SPen's functionality.

Dba cases glass one was probly the nicest one but i messed up install pretty bad so now I'm using a $5 3pack and they are good for the moment. Will probly try the Sedio vetrio(sp?) ones next.

I was looking into trying those but almost all the real reviews from people in the forums was fairly negative. One called Ghost glass, something like that, was about the same and as far as I could tell those are the only 2 for the Note 2 at the moment.

Got the XO skin to cover up a scratch. Works great to cover it up and looks great. Only downside is you have to be careful how hard you press the spen or it leaves indents that they claim well eventually go away but yeah.

I've got a Best Buy plan, so mine is covered from any damage, but I might look into one of these. The Note 2 does seem a little weaker than I would prefer.
I use a TPU case on my phone. The case sticks out slightly past the screen, so the screen will never touch the ground when the phone falls. Unless there's something sticking out of the ground like a rock, etc.
The TPU material is such that it absorbs some of the impact. I've dropped my Note II twice onto concrete from about 4 to 5-feet with no damage to the phone thanks to the TPU case. If the screen were ever to break, that's what insurance would be for.
Just a note to maybe alleviate worries on the S-Pen, is that due to the way the S-Pen works, a screen protector cannot interfere with it. The Wacom digitizer emits a weak field (NFC style) which powers the pen, the pen then transmits its status back to the digitizer (again, NFC style). That's how it can detect when the pen hovers. The pen itself, not the digitizer, detects when the pen is touching the screen by feeling when there is pressure on the tip, in the same way that it detects the button.
