Bricked HD2 Help......
No Boot loader
Not charging
No lights
Nothing by pressing vol down and power buttons
Nothing by pressing both vol buttons and reset button
Turned off for hours without battery and pressed power button for long time to drain the battery and turned back on.
Nothing works any more ideas.
But when I connect it to my laptop it does make a notification sound that a new device is connected and is called the qualcomm cdma technologies msm.
If I have bricked it and no solutions and I have warranty should I call HTC or my insurance company?
have u checked the battery points?.
but i dont think u need to put 4 of the same tread in 4 diff cat.
You might want to read this thread of mine for some ideas or inspiration. Ultimately, I had to return mine to HTC for a warranty repair, and it was returned with a new main board. Hope you get it fixed.

Sorry for that
Try to hold the power button for 20 second
tried that, didn't work
OK
Recharge ur device and try to volume down button with power button for 20 second
was fully charged when it died, if there is no hardware reset button on the device, maybe i'll get lucky when the battery goes flat.
If it doesn't work, i'll have to send it in...
Thanks
got it working, all i had to do is let the battery run flat and then charge it, now i'm going to root it.
Yesterday I flashed a custom ROM and the phone worked properly without any problems, Next day when I woke up the phone wasn't on so I figured it needs to be charged, But when I plug in the charger the LED gives the Orange light for a split second and that's it I don't even know if it's charging.
I tried to restart it with power button + volume up combination but still nothing,I left it plugged in for about 3 hours and still nothing.
I've read Posts describing the same problem and the guy got a replacement unit, I want to ask about the custom ROM I installed, would it void the warranty, I haven't unlocked the boot loader, I just rooted it and installed a recovery to flash the ROM, Would they even notice?
I just want to confirm if I had voided my warranty.
Thanks in advance!

The problem is Force shutdown doesn't work, I searched for a solution but it was no good, I found a thread with similar Problem but the guy got a replacement unit, So I thought I can get it fixed or replaced at the service center, But I'm worried about the warranty, You see, I flashed a custom ROM, So I don't know whether my warranty has been voided or not, If any one here has encountered such problem help would be much appreciated!
Here is the thread i am referring to, I have the exact same problem but this guys phone went completely dead, Mine is still giving me the LED Orange Light when I plug the charger, but for really just a split second, not even one second literally.
When I hold the power button nothing happens, and when I try to force shutdown nothing happens, no response at all.

I tried that too, when I got really desperate I just made up combinations and tried it to see if something might work, I can only guess that this is what they call a brick, right?
Anyway I sent the phone to the service center today, I don't know what's gonna happen, I just hope they fix it for me, I bought it just 2 weeks ago
I'll post the details about if it got fixed or not and what the problem was for future reference to this kind of problem
Thank you for your concern guys, I really appreciate it!
Hey all,
Phone is completely stock never got into flashing roms or anything. Had to ring up my provider to turn on my internet access. They asked me to restart my phone. I held the power button down menu came up, I selected power off phone. From then I have been unable to power it back on.
When left on charge overnight charging LED is orange never turns green.
Tried holding down power button for 10 secs,30 secs nothing.
Tried holding down volume button + power button, nothing.
Tried pressing the button inside the phone when cover off, took out battery basically tried everything possible.
Figuring it might be the battery since when I checked it with a Volt meter the battery was reading 2.9 volts where it should be 3.8v.
Took out my battery from my Incredible S and flipped it since the polarities are different, phone did not respond. I bought a new battery for it anyway just to make sure but they sent me the wrong one that also has the polarity in reverse so flipped it and nothing either. This battery is 3.7v instead of 3.8v but in any case this should probably not make any difference.
The phone just refuses to power on with no signs of malfunction before that.
Anybody have any ideas?

Looks like a paperweight. You should use warranty.

Bummer and it is still under warranty but the problem is I am in Australia at the moment (bought in Europe) Would send to relatives but can't find invoice.
So I am out of luck. I spoke with HTC technical support they were absolutely useless, knew less than me. Last time I ever buy a HTC. Incredible S speaker died about 2 months after warranty. Now this with the Desire X, I guess spending $300+ on a phone gets you about 12 months use and you can throw away, great....
Is there anyway to flash new firmware onto the phone even without being able to power it up? When I connect the phone to PC nothing happens nothing it recognized on PC that anything is plugged in.

I saw one for 150 € somewhere on the internet, it's relative easy to replace. But I think it's cheaper to buy a new one...

Maim board not for sale for phones normally...what iam doing is,check warranty first coz this fault covered by warranty even if u dont have receipt service centres have to fix it. If out of warranty look for broken phone online swap main board carefully. Not difficult..
Yeah for 150 euro not worth the money rather buy an LG. I will try and get it fixed under warranty but I know in Czech if you don't have receipt they don't talk to you. Would have thought they would have the serial number in database along with date of purchase.

Same thing happened to me 2 days ago. I cant even get it to boot into recovery its a hard brick atm.
The good old fashioned pressing the red button doesnt work either. The power and holding vol boots to recovery but if phone is dead its dead.
A quick google seems to prove that this is very common with the Sony phones, just a sudden death.

its not as common as it seems, get a couple rubber bands and put it holding the power and volume up, keep the phone in your pocket(i am very serious, dont leave it repeatedly resetting) and remove the bands after your phone vibrates 3 times, if it doesnt at all then your phone may have randomly just died but as said, not as common as it seems
i had my phone in my pocket, pulled it out and did some browsing. i changed my zooper widget, clicked the power button to put it to sleep and put it in my pocket. i pulled it out about 5 seconds after i put it in my pocket and the phone is completely dead. doesn´t respond to power button or any of the button combos i have tried (power + vol down / power + vol up) and doesn´t get detected on my pc or in fastboot. i was very gentle with the phone when putting it in my pocket and while pulling it out. i have no idea why this might have happened and it looks brand new on the outside. i was running AOKP and i have had no issues what so ever before. and charging shows no sign of life either, is it a software or hardware problem? and is it fixable in any way? since i live in northern sweden there is no shops or people that do repairs for this phone.

That means your battery died and you're gonna have a hard time connecting it. But it will connect eventually. Connect it to your PC and press the vol down+power button for 2 minutes. If it doesn't pop up then keep trying until it detects it. And when it does.. run the blank flash file and leave the phone in bootloader for atleast 10 minutes it more for the battery to charge, before flashing any rom.

It finally worked for me when I desassembled the entire phone, removed the battery and connected it again. But I won't suggest doing that unless you know what you're doing. And I'm not even sure what worked for me.. it just popped up on my pc after 100,000 attempts :/

I do have warranty from the shop i baught it from (cyberphoto.se). Do you think they could find out that the bootloader is unlocked since the phone is completely dead? Or if they even care?

I work with a phone shop, yes when we send the phones to the service center they will find out if you unlocked the bootloader in official way, even if its bricked. Only on a few dev devices or unsecured/cracked bootloader they won't find out.
thanks for the answers! but i still don't understand why it got bricked... it was functioning perfectly and just straight out of no where just dies? i have read that this has happened on other motorola phones. is it my fault that the phone broke? or is it due to some kind of failure of the phone / motorola?

I today got the phone back from the repair shop. It Said on the website that i would have to pay IF the warranty was void and that they would send me an email so that we could agree on a Price before they repair the phone. But they Never sent me an email and i did not get a Bill with the phone, so i think i got it for free. It says on the note that they changed out the motherboard.
