HD2 will not boot OS, loops on Tmobile logo, doesn't charge. - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so I'm quite sure that she's a goner. Last night I left the phone on charge and this morning I woke up and found her hot all over (no pun), opened her up and found the battery to be really hot and the screen was off. I thought that it was just android acting up.
So, remove the battery and popped it back in w/ the ac adapter plugged and contacts on battery noted as correct-the phone would turn on and I would get as far as the Tmobile logo and displaying my rom information (RGD display, the screen with the rom info and numbers on the bottom left corner) and other stuff. I noted right away that charging light no longer comes on and when I remove the ac adapter from the phone whatever is on the screen will not display (battery depleted or charging port/mechanism no longer functions, is my guess).
I'm able to hold the vol down button and power button, so I went ahead and put my radio as 2.08.50.05**, it was 2.10.50.19_2 with using the Miri Max elegencia rom.
If all else fails I guess I'll have to send it in for repairs, please let me know what I should do in order to avoid an issue with HTC tech team, or how to put the phone back to its original (non-hspl) settings.
Currently my phone displays at the bottom left corner:
Where did i go wrong?
R 2.08.50.05
D 15.34.50.07U
G 2.13.90963 8G

It works now, I'm inclined to believe that the phone must ha e some kind of overheating cut off mechanism. Either way its resolved, it came back on after about 2 hours after not being connected.

HD2 Is not charging or turning on

okay so i have a hd2 with 2.08 hspl and everything as of yesterday after my 2.12 radio flash everything worked fin. but when i started charging it i noticed it didnt show the usb connection when it charges. well it had 9% left and i fell asleep i wont up and it was completely off. im pretty sure the radio disabled the charging ability or whatever when i took my dad to the airport at 4 i looked up a little bit and saw i should take the battery out for awhile then try? i did that and i got it to bootloader with USB but it wont sync. i then reset it and tried to turn it on it started to turn on then died i think the battery is dead cuz of this whole radio thing
so i guess my question is how do i fix it? do i need to install a Rilphone.dll? or go back to my old radio? if so how do i go back to my old radio. then again i could be all wrong
***update i got it into bootloader with usb again im going to leave it for awhile and see if i can get a charge***
****update 2, i guess i can charge it enough in bootloader mode, so how do i enable charging again so i dont have to charge in only bootloader mode?****
No need to go to boot loader to charge. Just keep the phone switched off and charge your phone. The LED will come up in a few seconds. Leave it to charge full till it becomes green as usual. Try putting your device in boot loader & flash YOUR REGION STOCK ROM. Then flash any custom ROM if you wish.
you sure? cuz it never charged before when it was plugged in normally, it just went till it died
take the battery out, plug in USB, then re apply battery. It should shortly begin to charge without trying to turn itself on (which it does if you simply plug usb in whilst battery is in.)
I doubt it was the radio, i'd be more inclined to think you
1 - bent a battery pin
or
2 - faulty hardware.
wait bent battery pin that would make alot more sense.
*checking pins*
it seems as if the middle one (ground) is bent up a little i pushed it down so that it was touching the battery and it worked. im just curious if it broke completely is it possible to replace these?

Looks like it would be a crazy tight solder job if it did, probably just as easy to get the whole device replaced.
My Easy Fix
So my phone HD2 will not turn on or charge when plugged it in. I was freaking out. 2 days without, until i found a thread that told me to take out the battery. Hold down and press the Red power button for 30 seconds. While holding it down put battery back in.. careful you are connecting battery pins to battery when doing this. Then plug back into the wall power not PC. Walah like magic MY once bricked T-Mobile turned back on. ( worked after the 6th try)
Best of Luck.

Thanks for sharing this info. this trick worked for me too.
The phone went past the boot screen n showed me windows mobile logo.
It did restart again once or twice. Then I kept the power button *pressed* continuosly till the phone booted up completely
sorta helped

I received a HD2 in a trade, and it was set up for android. I couldnt charge it, and when I turned it off.. it would just restart by itself... so i thought maybe if I put WM6.5 back on it, it would fix it, nope. This trick DID fix my charging issue, but unfortunately, NOT its restarting when I turn it off. So.. anyone have thoughts on that? lol

Mine is doing the same thing. It's staying at only 2%. I'd try to set it to factory settings but way too risky with the battery that low. Let it charge overnight and everything. Going to play around with rebooting it a few times or charging it while it's totally off. The light on the power supply is green and working fine. The LED on the tablet is solid red.
EDIT: After many attempts and trying to reset it, trying to boot up while holding down the volume down button and plugging it and unplugging it from the charger while booting, nothing seems to work. It refuses to boot up at all. LED on tablet will flash red three times when I hit the reset button when it's unplugged. Light is solid red while plugged into charger and will flash three times red when I try to reset it while it's plugged in. Going to contact Sony tomorrow for warranty support if I can't get my problem solved here. Also I was not in possession of this tablet for the past few weeks, I had given it to a friend who was trying to sell it for me and he said the tablet wouldn't charge past 12% for a long time. So it looks like the problem has been getting worse over time and now the tablet seems to be pretty much dead. I had only used the thing for like 3 days too.
---------- Post added at 11:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:54 PM ----------
After about 20 minutes with technical support chat just now they recommended to send it in for servicing. I'm going to call tomorrow for more information but I'd rather not send it in. I'm down in Chile right now trying to sell this thing. I had a friend bring it down for me and I don't really have room to bring it back just to get serviced and then have to sell a might-still-be-broken tablet back home in the USA. If anyone has any tips for getting this thing to get back to normal please help out!
Oh, the chat tech suggested unplugging the device and then holding down the power button for 30-45 seconds then plugging it back in for about 2 minutes and then try turning it on. It didn't work for me but give it a shot!
After letting it sit overnight I tried turning it on again and voila! It booted! At 2% battery still. Been trying to charge it for over an hour now and still not up to 3%. Situation seems pretty bleak. No suggestions from anyone? I'll be returning to the States in a week, I hope that someone has an idea of what to do by then.

It sounds like either the charger or the tablet's battery is defective. If you have access to a voltmeter, test the charger to see if it is outputting 10.5 VDC. As shown by the diagram on the bottom of the charger, the two center pins of the plug are used for charging the tablet, so connect a voltmeter to those two pins. The pin closest to the cable is the negative (or DC common) pin.
If the voltmeter indicates the charger is outputting approximately 10.5 VDC, then it is likely the charger is good and the tablet's battery is defective. If this is the case, the tablet will need to be sent to Sony for repair.
If the voltmeter indicates a voltage significantly lower than 10.5 VDC or no voltage at all, then the charger is defective. If this is the case, you will need to get a replacement charger, hopefully for free from Sony if the charger is still under warranty.
Having similar issue
I am having the same issue, sort of. I got my tablet the 08/08. As soon as I got it I updated to ICS, so I can't really say for sure if the update is to blame as I didn't use it much before the update. At first I got flickering on occasion on the screen. Like some random app, that I was not currently on, came to the front then disappeared again. Right now it is the 10th, at 1:32am and yesterday at around 4pm I had turned it off to go to the gym. I come back and it is not turning on. I set it on the dock and the green led turns on, and I manage to power it up. The screen though starts showing random messed up images like when you get bad reception on tv. I know the logo and power on clip it shows and I can see those colors but all warped. Then it disappeared and it showed the password screen fine and the screen was ok from then on. I lifted it off the port and it turned back off. I put it back on the dock and turned it again, showed the same weird images. When it was up fine, I went to battery settings and it showed the battery at 100% but where it says how much time I had left, it has 16secs. The dock and charger where fine since I got them. But I will check the volts.

[Q] Intermittent power - hardware problem

Got a problem that I am hoping someone else knows how to solve:
Device: AT&T Atrix 4G stock 2.3.4 rooted (BL still locked)
Issue: Phone will not turn on or charge
Symptomshone suddenly turned off during a phone conversation the other day and now it will not turn on or charge. I noticed the phone was pretty hot when this occurred. Nothing happens when I hold the power button.I tried a new battery and same result. If I plug the moto charger in about half way I can get the green LED to come on but pushing in the rest of the way and it goes off and does not show battery image or moto screen. Plugging the phone into a PC causes a solid green LED. I have tried with a different charger (5.0V 2.1A) and same result as moto charger. If I plug in charger and then add battery and then hold power button it consistently will try to turn on (green led, screen powers up, and moto image for a second) and then it shuts off. I did this a bunch of times and noticed upper left corner of Phone getting warm (where the headphone jack is). I opened then phone up and didn't see any obvious problems. I bent a couple of the large spring pins around the headphone jack out for better connection and reassembled phone. Then it powered up like normal overnight but has been shutting off randomly. I was able to remove battery to get it to boot back up for a couple days but now it is dead again.
Any ideas? I am pretty sure I have a hardware or electrical connection problem. I really appreciated any guidance. Thanks.

[Q] Rezound dead?

Hello!
Earlier tonight I received a text message and then my phone died - I knew the battery was nearly dead.
When I plugged it in, nothing happened - no orange LED like usual.
I let it sit for a while and still nothing.
Eventually I pulled the battery and put it back in and still won't power on.
Pulled the battery again (left it out), left the back cover off, and then plugged in the power.
After about 2 seconds the orange LED comes on for about 4 seconds and then turns off <---I've not seen any other posts mention this.
The phone will not boot still though - tried holding down power for 60 seconds, and even tried in conjunction with volume up and volume down.
The screen remains black, no vibration, no HTC logo .. nothing.
My wife has the same phone, so I put her battery in mine and it still will not boot.
My phone is NOT rooted or modified in any way (using stock VzW rom)
The screen is cracked but it's been that way for months and I've had an Otterbox on it ever since (go figure .. should have had one before it got broken). It's been working fine. It has not gotten wet today, or been sat on, or dropped or even looked at funny.
The phone is out of warranty and I do not have VzW accidental coverage.
Are there any more tricks to try, or should I go to the store tomorrow?
Thanks!
I am going to plug it into the computer and see if ADB will see it, but my assumption is no.
I'm thinking maybe the processor died... ???
I know if a PC processor dies then nothing happens when trying to boot .. no post beep or video.

Try charging the battery on your wifes phone then turning yours on and see if it works if the processors dead like you assume then well R.I.P Rezzy if you call verizon they will tell you to do a factory reset from the recovery maybe you could try that

Phone Dies when not plugged in

Alright, I've got a hum-dinger here. I've been running CM12 for some time now, I started noticing much more frequent blue screens due to modem crashes so I wiped and reinstalled the ROM. Now I'm getting a really strange problem where so long as the phone is plugged in to something (charger, or computer) I can use the phone completely normally. The moment I unplug I get 1 of 2 scenarios:
1: the screen immediately goes blank (no power down sequence, no blue screen) and I'm kicked back to LG splash screen which then proceeds to go to the power off state. Attempting to power on again gets as far as the CM12 boot animation and then screen goes blank again. I've tried powering on several times from the stage only to get part way through the boot animation and then kicked back to the black screen.
2: Screen does not immediately go blank, I can swim around the home screens scroll to an app, even start an app - but about 10 seconds into the app the screen suddenly goes blank and I'm back at scenario 1.
The only way to get the phone past the ROM boot animation is to plug it back into something....but then I can't unplug lest I end up back at scenario 1.
The shutdown sequence almost looks like I tanked the battery, but going into the recovery (TWRP) I can see that I actually have a good 98% left.
Thinking CM12 had some issues, I tried another Lollipop ROM (blisspop) and I got the exact same behavior. Thinking Lollipop was still half-baked for this LG I reverted back to a KitKat ROM (CM11) and I got....the exact same behavior.
I tried wiping all the data, system, cache, dalvik, partitions and reinstalling completely from scratch -- but I get the exact same problem. The only thing I haven't tried yet is LGNPST back to 100% stock, but I'm struggling to see what difference that would make as I'm wiping out everything except the recovery between tries.
Anybody have any ideas, thoughts, comments? I'm grasping at straws here.....
You could always try to load the stock rom back on the phone to see if that does anything. Another thing you can try is to power off the phone, plug it up to the charger and see if it charges overnight, however I have a sneaking suspicion that the battery is toast.
Kilogrm, I've left it charging overnight and and am able to carry it around all day without issue doing the occasional glance at the time, but if I try to do anything of significance I will end up at a black screen again, so I'm rather inclined to believe it isn't the battery. I do have a replacement battery that I bought a while back that I never got around to installing....so I could try that.
I'm guessing that if I'm going to install a stock ROM I might as well just LGNPST back to stock....thoughts?
Ok well I used LGNPST to go back to JellyBean Stock, and I got the exact same behavior. I'm thinking it might be a hardware problem, but not sure what.
Well, it was definitely a hardware problem. I opened up the phone and took a look at the rigid-flex board that LG used to connect to the micro-usb jack and I noticed that one of the footprints was missing a component. I quick look around showed that a small(looked like 0402 size) diode had somehow sheared off at the solder joint and was rolling around in the case. I soldered it back on, replaced the battery with the new one I had gotten and closed the phone up. Everything works like a charm again. Now I just have to go back through the root/freeg/rom process again because I flashed all the way back to at&t ROM.
Remove the back cover, remove tiny screws on bottom and pop the cover off. There are another two tiny screws holding the battery connector on the pcb. Unscrew the tiny screws and unplug the battery, then plug in to power. Then unplug, plug battery in and plug power in. Let it charge. This added 8 extra hours on my battery from 15 hours to 24 hours. It appears to be going up too if u drain it to 0 dead and charge to 100 and unplug. Do it over and over again forever and the battery will slowly repair the damage.
