Donut Rom without Sony mods? - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Would it be possible to flash a software from another cellphone with donut without Sony's mods?

Would love that myself but unfortunately we don't have a way of flashing the ROM for it quite yet.

[Q] Custom roms?

Hi, Im not that good with all this root, custom roms and stuff. I did root my device though. My xperia x10. I got 2.1 rooted.
I read about everything with custom roms everywhere and everytime i read about android.
What is custom roms? does it enable me with my xperia to download a custom rom or custom version so i can get 2.2 or 2.3 even if sony ericsson has chosen to not update?
Thanks
Oh, And i downloaded something from connect-utb site.
What is it? is it some kind of new android version? it stood that it can be used on Xperia so... it was something XDAndroid
cant link. But search google for connect-utb
Custom ROMs enable you to have 2.2, 2.3 and so on, BUT with some drawbacks. Since the highest the phone can go is 2.1, the ROMs will be based on 2.1 and some things might not work (e.g. Camera,Videorecorder).
Try looking at the x10 developement section. Ask what you want to do in the q and a section and we can help u. But all the info is rite here on this site. U just have to look.

Any other way to get 2.3 on mini than CyanogenMod?

Yeah, title says it all. I have a XPERIA X10 Mini running android 2.1
BTW i want to go back to 1.6 just to try it out again, but i dont know how, is there any official way or do i need to mod etc ?!
Short answer: No.
Longer answer: Not yet.
Even longer answer:By the looks of things, all the Gingerbread roms available here have CyanogenMod inside them. Sony Ericsson haven't released 2.3 onto this phone and they're not likely to either, so the only way to get a 'pure' version of it would be to hope that somebody makes one...or make it yourself.
Why do you want GB without CM though? The reason so many people put it in their rom's is that it's very good. You get all sorts of improvements to the phone's functionality and performance.
As for going back to 1.6, there's no official way as SE will only give you the latest firmware. But you can use Flashtool to do it instead.
stock FTW!
I think the OP is like me and they actually prefer using the stock launcher. I've been looking for the same thing myself, a pure stock rom just updated 2.3.3.
I appreciate all of the cool tweaks and mods that CM adds to the rom but for me those tweaks usually end up borking another feature i'd rather use. I am also not a big fan of the customizations that some rom authors do like alternative launchers, heavily modified notification trays, weird fonts and color schemes. i'd prefer a just straight vanilla stock rom w/the sony launcher and camera; works nicely w/the screen realestate that we have w/the x10 mini. Again, i appreciate all the hardwork by all the rom authors/devs.
The big killer for me on the CM roms is the camera, still not up to the sony stock camera in my experience and again no stock launcher; some are close.
My solution was the following:
1. repair phone back to stock using PC Companion
2. reroot phone (bootloader already was unlocked)
3. reinstall CWM recovery
4. remove bloatware from stock rom (sony sync crap, game trials, quickoffice, etc)
5. update /etc/hosts file w/ad blocking version
6. create nand backup in CWM. (also made one after setting up miniCM7 in case i wanted to go back at anytime by restoring the nand)
if we could just get 2.3.3 in a pure stock form.. i'd be in heaven.. however, i may give the new ICS roms a try once they get to everyday-use-stable.
btw, the x10 minis have been the hardest to get root, recovery and kernels on of all of the android devices i've used yet. (Nexus one, HTC G2, LG G2x, Lenovo TPT, Galaxy Tab). mad props to the devs that got us to where we are now.

[Q] Flash a custom rom

Hi guys, first of all i would really like to know which custom rom is the best for my xperia x10, i would like it to be fast, but still stable, the animations should all be fluent (best thing would be a fast and very fluent 2.3.x) and "everything" should work properly, so not too many bugs and errors^^
Also, do i need an unlocked bootloader or anything to flash a custom rom?
I've got flashtool and pc companion installed.
My phone is a xperia x10 (as you may have guessed), its sim-unlocked and i've just recently updated it to 2.3.3 (with pc companion, so a stock and original sony erricson 2.3.3) and everything works fine, except that its slow and pretty much all animations are laggy, thats why i want to flash a fast and stable custom rom.
Thanks in advance guys, i hope you can help me
First of all you have to root Your phone. After that You have to Install xRecovery and You'll be ready to flash new ROM. Fastest ROMs are the stock based ROMs

I would suggest
1) wolf v7b6-simple and fast
2) ferlab- many 2.3.4 apps and great rom
3) shelly-it just like stock 2.3.4 but very fast
I actually really just want all the animations like changing the desktop page or timescape and the foto/video widget to run smooth, so which one is best in these matters?
Still thanks for the recommendations and how to install custom roms!
OK, i now rooted my phone and installed xrecovery, then i flashed (or installed) the full fps uncap and now its wayyy better
switching between homescreens and all the other animations are now very smooth, for the moment i'm happy with this, but i'll probably flash a custom rom sometime in the future...

[Q] Custom Rom or stock

Hello,
Today I bought Xperia S and it's running latest stock 4.0.4 android. I used to have Xperia X10 with custom kernel and roms because it made the phone so much faster.
Question: Is it worth installing a custom rom on Xperia S? Does it improve performance a lot? If yes, what rom should I use for daily and stable?

Yea you should.. Check out the best roms which suit your needs in the development section.. Also if you plan on unlocking the bootloader than go on and flash custom kernel
Use the thank button, it's there for a reason

i'm still unsure about which rom to use or what's the best kernel etc.
gone back to stock for the moment, cos the latest stock gives me pretty decent battery life.
my 2 main concerns are:-
1-battery life - it needs to be able to hold out for a decent days use without crippling the phone by turning off all the smart features.
2-unique selling points - the phone has a number of usp's such as the nfc smart tags, panoramic camera, hdmi output, etc.....any rom i use would need to keep these, but i'm not clear on which of the custom roms retain all these features or which one don't.

[q] ok, rom help?

OK, I've had enough with unlocking the bootloader and flashing kernels. I'M SICK OF WHEN I FIND A PERFECR ROM THAT NEEDS A KERNEL!!!
What's the best ROM (Android 2.3+) that has XPERIA UI and without flashing a kernel, and how to install it?
i used this one for a very loooooong time
