[Q] Fastest way to delete contacts - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I dont know why, but every contact are now 5 times in my list.
what is the fastest way to delete 4 of the 5 contacts?
i've synchronized my phone, but cannot find a map with contacts.
i'm using windows 7

I'm not sure of the quickest way to delete them but are you using Microsoft Myphone or Syncing your contacts with outlook? If you sync your phone with outlook then check the contacts in there because if you update your rom, outlook will duplicate your contacts and not merge them. If you use the myphone service, login to it on a pc, go to contacts and click "find duplicates". Then you can delete all you duplicates easily.

On freewarepocketpc there are sum free apps to delete double contacts which work quite reliable.
Generally You should clean up Your contacts in outlook and snc ONLY with HD2,
The same happens with dates if they are synced both with google AND HD2.
So I sync outlook dates only with google one direction and sync my HD2 with Google only
When connected with Active-Sync I ONLY sync contacts and favourites, all other outlook items I do not sync.

Google Calendar and Outlook Sync

I have all my appointments on Outlook. Outlook syncs with my Google Calendar, which has the families appointments on too.
My new HTC Hero syncs with Outlook... it would seem it also Sync's with Google Calendar.
Now I have all my appointments in the Calendar twice! Is there a simple way not to show the Outlook ones? Should I just remove it from the Sync list in HTC Sync?
yes to the last bit.
I don't know of any way to clear it, but if everything is in google, reset it and sign in and away you go. everything comes back from teh servers.
Okay, thanks. Although, when I connect my Hero now, it doesn't show connected with HTC Sync... (I'm using W7)
Also, I've been to my Google Calendar online, lots of things were duplicated, so I've deleted them away. Google Cal Sync has removed these from Outlook, now I have some in Google Calendar and some in Outlook calendar but not all of them in both, even when I run Google Cal Sync...?
**pressed once, it posted twice?**

Calendar One way sync

Hi,
Since installing windows 7, I'm only getting a one way sync (PC to Phone) on my Outlook calendar. I use Outlook 2007 and this was working fine from Vista but now appointment entered on my phone don't copy across. Any ideas? Am I missing something really simple?

I am having the exact same problem.
Reading up on it, I found the solution. When creating a calendar event, you must select (the tab before you name your even) Outlook. This way, the events can be transferred to MS Outlook. For some odd reason, when I selected my gmail account, I get a contact error. I guess you can't have both?
There are separate calendars on your Hero. The Google one syncs with the Google calendar you have with your google account. The Outlook one syncs with Outlook. It means you can, for example use the Google one for your personal appointments and Outlook for work. You can set the calendar to show either or both at the same time.

Best way to organize email/contacts on the Hero

Good people, I've been on Android ever since the Hero came out and right now I'm waiting to get my new Legend in the mail.
BUT, I've never been sure what's the best way to organize and sync email, contacts and calendar appointments. Do you store all contacts ON the phone and backup thru HTC Sync and Outlook, do you ditch that and go full Google? Do you use IMAP with Hotmail? Exchange Server server with private mail?
First some info about me: I've had a private email service for some years now and a Hotmail account. I've wanted to keep these because of the hassle changing, but I finally caved in and started using the Gmail account I set up YEARS ago (so nobody would take it). I've stopped using Thunderbird as a email client, I've stopped using Lightning as a calendar tool and I've decided to use Hotmail just for junk (ie. Newsletters, registrations on various services I don't need to keep track of).
Now ALL my contacts are "Phone" contacts, not Google contacts. I sync my contacts with Outlook with HTC Sync, but I NEVER USE OUTLOOK. I sync Google Calendar with the Hero and I only use Gmail with the phone.
You getting me? All the options are, stressing me... I need a way to consolidate all my contacts across the board, all my tasks, events, notes...everything, the same everywhere.
1) Would you change all phone contacts to Google contacts?
2) Can you change all "Phone" contacts to "Google" contacts?
3) Use both "HTC Mail" app with IMAP or just use "Gmail" App
- right now I get two notifications, both from the HTC app and the Gmail app.
Edit: I really with HTC could supply a tool, like HTC Sync, that would allow full control of the phone on you laptop, full sync capabilleties and the option to store it locally in HTC Sync (NOT Outlook) and in the Cloud as a backup.
ermmm personally i would sync all my contacts with gmail...at first its a bit messy cos u start getting gmail emails contacts in it but u learn to embrace it...specially if ur email list isnt way too big...syncing ur contacts with google is good specially if u have ORD(obsessive rom disorder) cos it saves u time backing up stuff...and it syncs via cloud so why bother plugging it in to sync
ermmm in terms of gmail i removed it from my htc app and just use the gmail app...the htc mail app is useful if u have any other accounts like hotmail or exchange or secondary emails...if u still want gmail on a pretty looking htc mail app u can just go to the gmail app and turn off notifications(that way u wont have 2 notifications for a single email)...

[Q] Contacts and calender sync and duplicates

My wife uses a Hero.
When she got it we synced it with pc-outlook and got all her contacts and calendar on it.
But while using the hero for several months without paying attention she added new contacts as “gmail” contacts and added new calendar entries as “My Phone”, instead of “PC sync”.
Now none of these new entries can be synced with outlook and what’s worse, if I want to change the rom I don’t have a way to get these new entries back to the phone. I know I can sync the gmail contacts back to the phone but she needs them on her pc as well.
A second problem is that after each outlook sync some of the original outlook contacts are duplicated. Erasing them doesn’t work since after the next sync they all come back. Some are 8-10 times over…
So:
1. How do I sync “gmail” and “My Phone” contacts and calendar with outlook? Can I change them to “Pc sync”?
2. How do I get rid of the duplicates once and for all?
anyone?
anyone?

Calendar/Contacts - Local Outlook 2010 to Exchange Server Migration

Since I got this phone at release, I've been using HTC Sync to keep my local Outlook contacts and calendar synced to the thunderbolt and it has worked fine. Now my organization has finally gone from a legacy system to Microsoft Exchange, and so I set up push email, contact and calendars, and then exported/imports my local calendar/contacts to the Exchange account on my PC (email was migrated by IT). Only problem is, now I have duplication of calendar entries on my calendar app (which can be hidden but not fixed by unchecking the local calendar in calendar app settings) that I want to get rid of.
I also have duplicate contacts, only thing is the phone linked them so I have linked contacts with 6 entries (phone, exchange activesync, facebook, facebook for htc sense, linkedin, skype) which is ridiculous. Is there any way to delete only the contacts synced from local outlook in the past (which are true duplicates of exchange contacts), then relink everything with the social media (except maybe only have it sync with either htc sense facebook or real facebook) entries. Also, I'm not sure how the phone is treating newly saved contacts, I want to make sure they go to the exchange server, not google or phone/sd card.
A last annoying thing, I use the mail app and primary gmail is my default account ever since this happened, I want it to go back to being my organization account as before (except now that account is exchange not IMAP).
Thanks for the help
You are confusing an Android phone with something professional. It is not! Get yourself a windows phone and the problem will be solved.
