[Q] Sending HD2 for Warranty Service, but... - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I flashed my HD2 a few times to try to get a ROM that was flawless, but that unfortunately didn't happen. All of the ones I tried were really slow and now I'm thinking it might just be the phone I need to replace. Maybe I got a bad unit.
Anyway, when I went to go to send it in I realized that there were custom boot screens from the ROMs I installed, however I got rid of them all except for ONE SCREEN that appears when the phone boots to the screen that shows you all of the ROM information (The three lines that start with R in the first line, G in the second line and D in the third line) where it's the LEODragon ROM wallpaper from a prior ROM I had and I can't get it to disappear no matter what I do! HELP!
Thanks for your help in advance!

those numbers remain there ! and they were there since the beginning u got ur phone ! so dont worry ! just give it for service! everyone has those numbers from the day 1 !

you mean the second, non standard splash screen, before the animation, see the watermarking your leo link in my sig for more info
i did exactly the same, you need to make asecondary splash identical to the first, so it all looks like one splash.

hmmm sounds like your display TLCD screen is dead and or not making
connection .. I don't think any ROM is going to fix that.. you may need to
take it in for service ..
If I understand you correctly.. You do not see anything on the screen
even when “flashing” or after a Hard/soft reset?
Hmm hold down your power-button for 8-10 second, if you heard a beep
And still can’t see anything on the screen, your Phone is booted up fine
and working but your screen or screen connection is dead!!

Take you battery out and then press the camera and power at the same time and then put the battery back in....
Your phone should go in to the boot loader if not the phone need to go in for repair
Same exact thing happened to my phone. I sent it in to HTC and they were really cool about repairing it. All I had to pay for was shipping which was nice because I am not the original buyer of the phone and I'm out of warranty.
that's what i might do is just send it in..
does anyone have the htc number i can call?
i bought the phone off from ebay and the warranty verizon told me ends june 2009..they said they cant do anything since i have it flashed to cricket..
but i know its stuck in the screen after you flash it to a new rom because i can hear it beep and that's when you configure the setting.
Call this number 1-866-449-8358 and tell them your problem. They'll give you the number for the repair center. Call repair center and they'll tell you how to go about sending it in. I don't know what they'll do if yu have a custom ROM on it, when I sent mine in it had a stock one on it.

[Q] Black Screen of Death?

Hello fellow HTC HD2 users,
I have a problem with my HTC HD2 for some time, its in the touchscreen and the problem is that in the beginning my phone sometimes wouldnt respond, random locks, and a weird defect that causes a problem so i cant touch the W key on the onscreen keybord .. on all ROM/RADIO combi ive tried, also on Android builds from my SD.
But today my phone screen is black and frozen it seems, even the bootloader is a black screen, i tryed a new HSPL flash, Radio actualy everything, but it seems that its dead (only backlight lights up).
Now ive read something about older batches of phones that have this problem .. now my brother also has a HTC HD2 but got it later then me, and first thing that i noticed when i wanted to flash his software, was that he already had the 1.66 rom, while mine was with 1.48 out of the box. (ye its software but ..)
I will return it to the store ofcourse. (reflashed stock spl/rom from htc site with sd card method, just 2 days ago )
Anyone know if they will replace my phone for a new one?
Or will they just fit in a new screen?
Or mabye some tips to solve this problem?
Thanks
Tips to help you solve it ? i doubt there is .
But it may be the screen is defected .. did you drop it on the floor or something ?
And since the problem is in Android AND WinMo thenyou should consider a replacement .
Good Luck
I did bring it to the store today, now 3-4 weeks without my HD2 :'(
Anyway, no it never dropped, i always take good care of my phone, expecialy with a big screen as the HD2, it seems that this problem lies in older devices of the HD2.
Btw check this:
http://wmpoweruser.com/strange-htc-hd2-touch-screen-behaviour-is-your-device-affected/
The youtube video shows what i ment in the OP, screen 1 is MY phone, screen 2 is my Brothers phone (not actualy on that vid, but its the same resemblance).
Maybe helping people that have the same problem.

Crt screen off animation problem

Hi just bought my sgs2 few days ago and installed my first custom r roms, some of it come with nice crt off animation and all of them on my phone don't look as should, so I start to worry about my device.
When I press the power button in standard behaviour of this animation screen getting plain white colour for a moment and than is covered by a black bars from all four sides but in my phone the white background is full of some rubbish black/white dots and lines as typical memory bug or something with gpu, there is no other problems with this phone. I have tried many times with different roms, formatted cache and data, dalvik and all what possible but with no results.
Any of you noticed something like that? My phone is still under warranty or even can exchange it in shop for new one if broken but this animation is not included in any stock rom so no option to explain in shop what actually is wrong.
Or maybe this is a normal behaviour in this phone?
Another thing if I trying to get back to any of 2.3.3 stock rom I finishing with bootloop every time.
Thanks for all help

As you void warranty by rooting and or custom rom you would need to restore to original or at least stock firmware and reset the custom rom counter to zero via usb jig .

When in airplane mode it works correctly. Everyone has this problem, I really dont understand why rom devs put the effect in because it looks horrible.
Even in airplane mode it does not look like it should, its all white. But it is supposed to look like your screen distorting to red green and blue and then stretch out to the sides.

[Q] Funny Lines down screen

HI
Hope you can help...
When i start my phone i get some coloured lines down my screen they go after a second or so.
I was going to root my phone, when i put it in download mode the lines do not go. Is this faulty hardware or a software thing.....
Problem is i can not read what the screen says in download not etc. (if this really matters, i do not know)
Cheers for you help, ive tried to attach a photo.
Sorry if this should go in Q & A please can a mod move....
Does this only happen in bootscreen/Download mode? Or always, also when booted fully, in homescreen? EDIT: I see it's just for a second at boot. :S
Anyway, take it to the store/warranty or wherever before it's too late. You should be covered by warranty if it's still less that 1/2 years since you haven't rooted.
Get it replaced mate ..!!
I have to say im impressed. I rang Orange UK at 7.30pm Sunday my new phone was delivered at 9.30 am Monday!!

Phone went crazy today and now I'm stuck...

Hi all, thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide me. I have looked for similar posts but could not find any (maybe I just don't know what my issue is called). I bought an HTC EVO 4g LTE from a friend that had put meanbean on it (I assume it was the latest). I went through all sorts of steps loading twrp and getting s-off and whatever else I needed to do to load cyanogenmod 10.2. I was able to do this fine but the gapps I loaded would not show. I tried it together and separately and nothing would work. So I loaded (I believe) 3.16.651.3_stock_rooted_odex_CPTB.zip so that I could use my phone again with the gapps while I was waiting for some assistance on the cyanogenmod forums, which never came unfortunately. Everything was fine for about the past 10 days.
Today I used my phone all day and had no problems (extra info: I installed one app to access my bank info which went fine), but hours later and all of a sudden my screen basically got stuck. It looks like millions of randomly chosen colors for each pixel. The screen will turn on and off if I hit the top button (or let the display "timeout"), and I can hear the tones when I press the up and down volume buttons. This is telling me it's not bricked, but it is completely useless to me as is. When I reboot the phone, I don't see anything on the screen until the colors come up (which is after the vibration during the bootup sprint screen as far as I know). I was able to get fastboot to see it once but haven't been able to get back into the bootloader (there's nothing on the screen so I don't know what I'm doing).
Basically, nothing on my screen while it is booting up until it gets to the point where my laptop detects the USB connection, and the crazy colors comes on. BTW, as random as it seems, it's the same colors in the same exact position each time and it never changes. I haven't tried flashing any roms with fastboot because it seems my issues is bigger than a rom... I can't even see anything when I had it in the bootloader... This is my only phone and I use it every day. I'm really quite desperate and could use any and all help you're willing to provide. I've attached a zip with a picture of my screen so you all can see what I'm talking about. Thanks in advance...
just an update, got my laptop to see my device with fastboot so I'm gonna leave it hooked up. Could really use some advice on how to proceed because I'm at a loss. Thanks...
From what I've seen in the past, it looks like the digitizer in the phone is bad. If you're good with your hands you can replace it yourself.

So can you say with any certainty that my issue is not due to the programming on the phone?

I just thought I would see a similar screen in the bootloader if it were a physical hardware issue.
I'm basing my information off of previous posts with the same type of picture, and the replies that followed. All of those posts suggested that the digitizer was bad and that the issue was not software-related.

Okay great thanks for the reply... the touchscreen portion of the phone still works (I was able to answer a phone call today even though I couldn't see where I was touching). I saw some videos online so I'll watch carefully and order a new screen/digitizer or whatever. Thanks again
