Good news
I would to try it out. Can you upload your android package here?
yes, nike users can use the package for the vogue. the problem for me was that nike could not wake up after sleeping because we have different key mapping than vogue or kaiser. how is ur battery life?
im on school right now.
when im home, ill upload a complete rip of my SD card.
what i've done is the following:
i downloaded the pack for the HTC kaiser/vogue etc.
then i used the default.txt from a android made for the htc niki.
the only thing i changed in there was change "Zimage" to "Zimage-monsha"
then i could just install the andoid on my sd card and run it.
i don't know about the battery life yet, i didn't test it very well yet.
it's pretty laggy though so it will need some very good improvements.
Did your data work? I also got eclaire runniung on nike on ext2 partition using the methods from the vogue forums, but I noticed some issues:
- No data
- Slow
- I Tried to patch the new 3d driver stuff into the kernel. Afterwards i had accellerated graphics without textures (live wallpapers). But i have the same issue on some combinations of older builds, kernels and rootfs.
I also tried other builds from ext2 (all without rootfs, no working data on any of them , but it seems like the old versions with rootfs work better (-> data works)
i did not test it anymore.
i was at school.
rightnow im at home, so ill make a rip of my sd card, this is not formatted in ext2 or something.
i just deleted all the data on the sd card, and i just installed it.
it will take a while to upload, cause its pretty big.
right now im going to upload the .rar file.
it is 115 MB big, so make sure your sd-card is bigger than 512 MB

i tryed with sleepmode on 0, and it just worken, also on 1 it just worked.
i do not know how to see if full sleep is working, but it could be also working on the HTC Touch-Dual *NIKI*
set pm.sleep_mode=4. Data don´t work. Data don´t work on Nike with more new Android OS like donuts(1.6) or eclair(2.1) only in olders like android 1.5. Nike handsets lacks of android developers. We have no luck like Polaris/Vogue/Kaiser/Diamond users
i know, but i edited the default.txt a lil, by changing the resolution, i had less lagg, but it does not show the whole screen :S
even when im using the resolution of the screen :X
if u set the sleepmode to 0, can u wake the device? i never been able to. could u post just your default.txt here? anyway, data is working for me.
Running
I tried this, i'ts running, here's my report:
1. I cannot make a call (incoming or outcome).
2. I cannot send the SMS
but the operators carries found..

yes it awakes then.
and i did not test it with sim yet, the first thing i wanted to do is a good fast stable android build.
i found one, only one problem:
you cannot install it on your niki, i have to take the data.img and system.img from a HTC Kaiser(which uses my dad)
i already got a rip, right now im going to test if that works.
then i will delete all settings in there, and upload it here, one thing; it is REALLY fast!!

Data don´t work on Nike with the more newest android builts. We lack developers
I noticed that data works on eclair and donut, but the connection drops after a (very) short time. Sometimes I was able to load one or two webpages after a fresh boot until the connection went down (20Key Nike, O2 Germany). I also got google sync once working for a few seconds (enough to fetch mail).
So it seems to be more a stability issue than a general lack of data connection.
Does anyone have developent experience with android? I am now compiling the eclair build with the latest libraries from the vogue andoid git tree, but if someone already knows were the data problem is or what it could be i could find a faster solution, any in the development would be great.

Hi,
I am planning to install Android on my company HD2 but have the following questions :
- I see that radio (don't really know what it is but nevermind) has to be upgraded. In case my phone completely freezes, what would be the procedure to revert to the factory setting with WinMo ? (I have a HTC HD2 Sense without any specific operator rom)
- Up to now, (Sep 16), what would be the easiest tutorial to follow for a beginner and the most stable Rom. I'd like ideally the HTC Sense one if possible. I have a 16GB Class10 Micro SD card.
thank you very much for your answers.
Greg
You're posting in the wrong thread. But...
For Radio info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
For a stable ROM to use with Android... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734238
You don't have to flash android on you HD2.
It's not possible, yet.
All you have to do is download an android version (just choose one) and copy the "android"-folder to your SD card.
If you're ready, open "CLRCAD.EXE" in the android folder (nothing happens, thats ok). After that open "HARET.EXE". Android is booting.
If you want to go back to WinMo, just restart your phone.
That's all.
First: i used the search function and didnt get an answer
im also having this problem around 2 weeks...
im using this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=692763
Omega v3.4
with the Radio-Rom
Radio 2.10.50.28_2
and as you may think, my handy stucks after the executes linux code on the green HTC Logo. No one could help me, so im asking for the pro's in this forum for some answers.
Is it may possible, that every 3.14 rom makes problems with android?
so, thanks
and i hope you could help me, solve this problem
greez
Monolize
Edit:
i switched to the chuckyrom, didtn know which version.... but it also didnt work
can u just send me an rom and an android-build, which just work
download one of the Andriod versions of Mdeejay. He has truely good working ROMS. EVO, Revolution, Desire and Desire HD (even with 720p camera fixed)
I just think you data.img is corrupted .. you can try to replace it .. i rather would go for another Adriod version. Trouble shooting for Andriod SD ports is a waste of time if you dont know were to search
i download always a new data.img when i change android
so i rather think, this isnt the problem
but the mdeejay builds.... i try it
EDIT:
im doin it right, or?
the data.img in the android folder and the rootfs from the android folder intro the root of the sdcard
EDIT2:
it also stucks at the bootscreen.... this time it is white and green
any1 know, which issue keeps me away from the lovely android @ hd2?
It also happens to me when i download android and exracted to my sd card it stuck or frozen in the htc logo for like an 1hr
I would delete the data.img and let Android build a new one. It should do it on its own the 1st time you boot it up, it will make your 1st boot take quite awhile, probly like 10 minutes, but it should boot up that way as long as you haven't changed or modified anything else within your /Android folder. It may just be because of the data.img that you included in the folder why it won't boot up for you
ok, i let android "build" a data.img by it self, but it also hangs at the bootlogo
and i didn't changed anything in the android folder, cuz i dont know what
i changend in the meanwhile the hspl from 2 to 3 back to 2
i changed several roms...... several android builds but nothing works :'(
dont some1 know what my problem is?
i always use task29 b4 i flash a ne rom and radio

Okay, It's the same as the one I have tested in the past.
Steps to do:
1) Download v. 4.3
Download 1GB data.img
2) Prepared your SD:
- Format your SD (select FAT32)
3) Create a folder on your SD named: "Android"
4) Open the "MDJ_FroYo_HD_v._4.3_MDJ_S7.5HD.zip" archive with winzip/7zip Set the 10 files folders in your Android folder on your SD
Code:
- AndroidApps (folder)
- media (folder)
- zImage
- initrd.gz
- rootfs.img
- startup.txt
- system.ext2
- CLRCAD.exe
- haret.exe
- ts-calibration
5) Open the "data.zip" archive with winzip/7zip Set the data.img file in your Android folder on your SD
(You don't need to have a other file/folder on your SD except the one I mentioned.)
6) insert your SD into your device
7) Navigate with your device to your SD/Android folder; press on CLRCAD.exe and than on haret.exe
The first boot up can take some time (about 15min) but after that it must works well.
green logo ey?
When i was installing android on mine HD2 all i needed was to UPDATE MY RADIO to 2.15 ! and it passed the green logo just fine! I really doubt it has anything to do with sd card...
ok i followed the steps indicatet above AND flashed Radio_Leo_2.15.50.14
hope it works...
i tell ya
btw: is it normal, that there will be the logo for about 15 min?
in older versions, there was a linux-dos-lookalike screen where u know that the handy was doin something
where did he go??
edit after 20 min:
still hangin on the green/white htc logo
i did ALL files into the Android folder, no files nowhere else
dont know whats wrong
EDIT next day 11:50AM:
thank you kurt-willems
but also your tutorial wont help me :'(
i absolutely dont know what the **** is wrong.....

Fore the moment out of Ideas.
- Radio is correct
- Rom; I don't see the problem
- Steps are follow like I mentioned
Maybe SD, (but you tested also on a otter SD. No?)
This worked for me.
I had the same issue for about a day, and after research of stuck on green HTC Logo with no help, and thousands of post later I came acroos an article regarding EncFiltLog.menc. Do not format your SD card with MAC or windows PC, but rather the secret is to format your SD card with your winmo phone by going to "settings" | "format SD card". It will create an exec file "EncFiltLog.menc" This file is, I guess, a partition index??? The file "EncFiltLog.menc" is hidden in windows mobile 6.x but is visible when you mount your SD card to your PC. Do not delete this file!!!!
After that just drop your android folder and it will boot up in less than 3 mins. After that, u may add all your other files. I use a 16GB card with Android and all my music and stuff with no problems. Hope this helps you.
Seriously man, you're a life saver. This has been kicking my butt for two days now.

It's so simple. Why on Earth would you pay someone to do it?
You download the one that looks best to you from HD2 Android Development, unzip it, and put the Android folder onto your sd card.
Not inside any folders on your card, just on the card.
Then in Windows Mobile, you go to your file explorer, go into the Android folder on your sd card, tap CLRCAD (nothing will happen, thats ok just tap it each time you start Android) and then tap Haret.
It really is as simple as putting a folder onto your sd card.
Just do it yourself. If you manage to screw it up, it won't mess up your phone and somebody on this forum will take pity on you and show you where you messed up

good point, forgot about radio.
as long as it's a XX.XX.50.XXX radio, its good
I started this thread because I had just discovered that I can't do the install on my mac with an emulator. I really need to do it myself just so I know how to do it so I don't have to hassle finding someone to do updates. Sooooo, I'm doing a clean install on an old Windows machine just to get this done.
Are there simple non-developer instructions anywhere on how to do this? I've had two people tell me how simple this is but the instructions on this forum don't seem that simple with terms like "flash, etc. What does the term "flash" mean?

It's called that because of the type of memory. Anyway, it basically means install. "Flashing" a new radio means you're installing a different version while overwriting the existing one.
HOW TO FLASH:
Use "CustomRUU.exe" to flash the file (.nbh file extension). Phone must be connected and have >50% battery. If the CustomRUU.exe isn't included, download here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=239860&d=1256298258
Step 1 - HSPL3 must be installed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6891358&postcount=1893
The .zip attached to this must be extracted and installed. Simple enough, no?
Step 2 - Flash a new Radio ROM.
I recommend the newest one (2.15.50.14)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
Step 3 (OPTIONAL) - New Windows Mobile ROM
I put optional because Android will run without a different one, it just might not be as well. Download the "RELOADED 3" one in red. I use this one. Flash the same way.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=776971
Step 4 - Download Android flavor of your choice and copy it onto your SD card. I recommend http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870518
Step 5 - Go into WM, navigate to the Android folder on the root of your SD, and click CLDCAD.exe (nothing will happen, this is normal) then click haret.exe
Step 6 - Celebrate.
If you need any help, feel free to message me.

Instead of a virtual machine (is it Parallels?) why not use BootCamp, then you have a full Windows os on your mac - and you can flash.
I'll see if I can borrow a mac again and test flashing via Parallels.
I would love to help you for free - you just have to spend a plane ticket from Denmark (with lots of snow and freezing temperature) ;-)

I'm utterly stunned... I thought a Mac could do everything... and do it better than Windows, faster than Windows, more stylishly than Windows and made the user more intelligent, more likable and better looking at the same time...
Oh well...

On the few times I have run Windows on a Mac (via Parallels and Bootcamp), it runs really well. It just goes to show that the main problems with Windows is that of the sloppy drivers for the hardware that the hardware manufacturors provide. Since Apple only have a couple of computers, therefore they can afford to take time to develop device drivers for Windows.
Just to clarify please and sorry to be asking lame questions...
1) Is this true? "The best most reliable Froyo ROM for the HD2 is the 2.2.1 Custom Nexus HD2-FRG83D V1.8 Froyo ROM. Very stable and everything works perfectly." Is that accurate?
2) Are you saying that I can do the entire install of everything on my Mac with an emulator (VMWare Fusion) as long as I do it the way you describe?
3) Are you saying that I should change the name of the nbh file to leoimg.nbh and then drop it into my SD card?
4) My HD2 came with Android on it but it runs slow and clunky and won't make calls, etc. Its basically unusable so I'm assuming it wasn't installed correctly. There is nothing on the SD card that I care about. Should I format the SD card before starting the new build? And is there anything on the Windows side that I should delete first before starting too?
Thanks again.

I would be willing to pay somebody for simple step by step clear non-nerdy instructions on how to install this stuff (Android, reformat SD card to FAT32, radio, etc., etc.) Seriously! You know, Step 1: Do this ya moron. Step 2: Now put this file named this in here idiot. Step 3: Now do this retard, etc.
Here are some more questions please...
1) What is the difference between a "sense" build and a "non-sense" build? Advantages, disadvantages?
2) When I plug the usb from my hd2 into my computer I don't see or recognize what is the SD card folder and I don't know where to install what I'm supposed to install. Here is what I see...
Removable Disk (E) > Application Data folder > HTC folder > databases folder > DocExp folder (with all this stuff in the DocExp folder: flintlock, postlist, postlist.baseB, record.baseA, termlist, termlist.baseB, iamflint, post.baseA, record, record.baseB, termlist.baseA)
...and next to the Application Data folder above there is also this: EncFiltLog.menc
and this is also in the HTC folder too...
ImageCache folder > DocExp folder (which is empty)
Thanks again.

...and next to the Application Data folder above there is also this: EncFiltLog.menc
and this is also in the HTC folder too...
ImageCache folder > DocExp folder (which is empty)Thanks again.

OK, when you first start up your phone, and there are little red numbers and stuff down it the corner, look next to the letter 'R'
If it is X.XX.50.XXXX, then you're OK and don't need to change radio's and the process is very simple. (The X's can be any number, doesn't matter, as long as the 3rd set as shown are 50, not 51 or anything else.) So if it's 50, don't worry about the signed_ruu.nbh file or leoimg.nbh or flashing a radio. If it's not 50, you will need to change radio.
Next, when you plug the phone to your computer, the place where you find the 'Application Data' folder and the file 'EncFiltLog.menc', that is the root of your sd card. That is where the Android folder that you download and unzip will go.
So you will download the nicest looking build that you like the best, it will be in a .zip or .7z archive. You open the archive and take the 'Android' folder out and place it on your desktop. Then you drag it and drop it right next to your 'Application Data' folder. Don't put it in the 'Application Data' folder, just in the same place where that folder is at.
Removeable Disk E is your memory card, the root of the card simply means just on the card, not within any folders on the card, just on the card. That's where the Android folder goes, on the root of the card.
As far as Sense vs. No-Sense builds, Sense is maybe a little more user(noob) friendly, but it uses more of your phone's resources, so sometimes tends to lag (slow down, run slow) more than a no-sense build. For you, I would say try a Sense build first. Once you have installed one build, you will become more confident and really see how easy it is. Then you can experiment with different builds and see what is best for you.
After you have put the Android folder on the root of your sd card, alls there is left to do is to use the File Explorer on your phone to find the Android folder on your sd card, go inside that folder, first tap CLRCAD (it won't appear to do anything, but it actually enables sound in Android) (if your phone says the application is not from a trusted source, and asks do you want to continue, just click 'yes') and then tap Haret, a box will appear with a progress bar, and then Android will boot up (start).
The first time you run an Android build, it can take up to 15 minutes to start up. This is normal, just give it a while.
Then when it starts up, enter all the data it asks for (GMail, email addresses, etc. nothin major) and then when you have finished with that, and you end up at the phone's Android homescreen, hold the 'End Call' button, and choose 'reboot' and if there's no reboot option, just choose 'shut down' and then restart Android the same way as before. For some reason, rebooting after the first time like that actually helps Android to run more stable over the long term.
If you follow these instructions exactly as I have written them, you cannot fail. Now go, and enjoy Android
No need to pay me, just remember the 'thanks' button
On the few times I have run Windows on a Mac (via Parallels and Bootcamp), it runs really well. It just goes to show that the main problems with Windows is that of the sloppy drivers for the hardware that the hardware manufacturors provide. Since Apple only have a couple of computers, therefore they can afford to take time to develop device drivers for Windows.

I think you prove my point quite well... Macs are pretty much a single entity unto themselves. What Apple says, goes. Nothing else is acceptable. If you are prepared to be so limited then go ahead and stay with Apple products - they are for those who think they have imagination but are actually fooled into a "groupthink".
Huggs! Thank you very much for taking the time to explain that to me.
I installed Android and added my info (email address, etc.) and then restarted it like you said to do. Of course Windows loads first and when I tap the Android icon to launch Android it says: "The file Android cannot be opened. Either is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file." Since this phone had Android on it when I bought it last week (but it didn't work properly), I'm assuming that is the old Android launcher?? I did reformat the SD card via the Windows side of the phone before I installeded Android just now. Can you or anyone please tell me how I can get Android to launch now?
Thanks again.
Steve
UPDATE: I opened the Android folder and tapped CLRCAD and then HARET again and got the same error message as I explained above when I tap the Android icon. Also, and maybe this is normal since I'm still in Windows, but when I try to open any of the other files in the same folder (like INITRD, ROOTFS, etc., I get an error message that says: "There is no application associated with XXXXX. Run the application first, then open this file from within the application."
Another question please: The guy I bought this phone from was using T-Mobile but I'm going to use Simple Mobile. Does doing all the stuff I just did unlock this phone or do I still need to use an unlock code when I insert the sim card? (I will need to call Simple Mobile to activate the new Simple Mobile sim card in order to transfer my existing number over to this HD2)
Install this .cab in WinMo (install to device not sd)
Soft reset device (just fully off n then on, not factory reset)
try running Android again
Sounds like your phone just doesn't trust Haret, this should make it relax a little
let me know how it goes, it should work for ya
Hi guys, I'm new on XDA and a new HTC HD2 user.
I got my HTC HD2 two days ago and first of all I must say I have no experience in installing and flashing yet.
I have Windows 6.5 on it. It seems I have my HTC with EnergyROM installed.
In my tools folder I have a Launch Android app. My SD card is empty (just bought it).
I want to have both WinMo 6.5 and Android 2.3.* installed at the same time and choose being able to choose which one to run (the android should be installed on the sd card) . Can someone point me towards the right direction on how to do this?
What are the risks of doing this?
ps1. I'd like to use the Launch Android app provided with EnergyROM to do this if possible.
ps2. I know it might have been asked already, but I feel much safer if the answer is given to me.
Have a look here.
Find an android build you would like to use.
Follow the instructions in the thread.
The Launch Android app on the energy rom is basically just a shortcut to allow you to launch android with one click.
There are two files you need to run in order to boot Android and this app does that for you.
This will make sense after some time reading through the forum I linked you to above.
Dont worry too much as running an SD card build cant damage your phone in any way. You will always have WinMo there as a backup.
Hope that helps.

That's exactly what I wanted to know! Thank you very much!
Do you have any advice? Which build is smoother and faster from your experience?
Its been a long time since I used an SD version of android.
A lot of it is personal taste.
The good thing about the SD versions is that you can just swap between the by copying different folders from your pc to your sd card. All your settings will still be there intact.
In fact you can keep multiple builds on your card and just rename the folders.
"Android"
"Android1"
etc... The folder titled "Android" is the one that will boot if your using an app to launch it so just rename them as needed.
As for suggestions, I dont like HTC Sense for Android so I always used the CyanogenMod or AOSP Roms. Try a sense ROM and a standard android to see what you prefer.
AmericanDroid is a good one. (No HTC Sense)
@conantroutman,
does running android from sdcard drain the battery faster and does android run slow if ran from sdcard ?... reason am asking because I intend to use android only from sdcard and just retain Win6.5 as primary OS.
EDIT: btw which one do u suggest froyo or gingerbread ?
To answer quickly.
Yes and yes.
However, its worth it to have 2 os's
If you spend some time setting up android you can get good battery life and a good build will only be a little slower than normal.
I'd recommend GB but try both and see what suits you best.
