[Q] Samsung Vibrant MMS - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I send a picture message to my friend on the iphone 4, she never receives it. When she sends me a picture message I receive it. I'm on tmobile and I'm using default messaging app. Shes on att. Do I have to resize my images or something?

I think the native app resizes pics automatically, so I'm going to bet it's a crappy iPhone signal/AT&T data.
You could try image shrink lite to reduce pic sizes and try that?

I've never had a problem sending picture MMS's to iPhones. Just tested with my coworker's iPhone 4.

Text and Picture

Is there a possible a permanent texting program similar to the one provided by HTC where the picture is included with the text messages but that be the primary texting application. Instead of going to the old list of text messages and opening it. Have a picture next to the person your talking to, I sometimes forget who I'am texting lol I know it sounds bad but if i had the picture next the it at all times that would be cool

Click to collapse
I'm guessing he wants to have his sms inbox looking like it does in sense 2.5, with the contact picture next to the message.
I would love to have this as well in my sms inbox on a regular winmo6.5 titanium rom, does anybody know if there is such a thing available? (with out using sense 2.5)
Try PocketCM contacts. You still get a list of messages per contact (which makes sense), but their picture is shown at the top of the list

MMS Pictures Re-sized Way Too Small

On Bionix 1.3.1. Regardless of using the touchwiz mms, aosp mms, or go sms, all MMS that I receive from other devices all end up being re-sized to miniscule levels.
iPhone & HTC Desire Z, and a Samsung Gravity are the known phones I've received MMS from and they all come in pretty crappy.
On Mobilicity in Canada, and no one who has sent me an SMS has shared my network.
iPhone is on Bell & Rogers, HTC is on Bell, Gravity is on Rogers.
Has anyone been able to figure out a way to prevent this? I called my carrier and they said re-sizing was done by the handset and not them.
Its just the settings in the mms app! It re-sizes pictures to a smaller size so it's easier to send! There are some hacked mms apps that might let you send uncompressed pictures, but the easy work around is to send it as an email & you get the original picture quality! Hope this helps!

It's not the sending that I'm concerned with, but the receiving.
There was one point where MMS messages came in full sized, but I forget which iteration of Bionix (on eclair) I had at the time. Ever since, everything I receive is ridiculously compressed that I can barely see the picture.

SMS coming in as MMS?

Currently using Handcent as my messaging app (but have also verified this in the stock messaging app). Whenever I get longer type of texts from my friends (most using iphones) it shows as a MMS message.
Is there a setting I may have missed to stop this? It's getting really annoying.
Also, is there a way to disable that stupid slideshow when someone sends more than 1 picture in a text?
I text back and forth with my wife all the time... She has an iPhone 4S. I have never had any of her texts arrive as MMS unless they were that. I still use the stock app and running on the stock ROM unrooted. You said you verified this on the stock app, but was that ever before installing the Handcent app or only after?
As far as the stupid slideshow issue... I hate it too... Even if it's only 1 single solitary picture it will play the slideshow... Stupid... Not sure why, but I can't help with that.
Should be normal......... depending on how much you're typing. If you pass the length of 3 text messages, it automatically gets turned into mms to be able to send all of it in one go.
If you're typing less than 3 text messages worth and it still gets sent as an mms, you have a problem.

[Q] Picture messages showing up as slideshow???

I've got the I9300 international version running on Tmobile Edge, anytime someone sends me a picture (wether tmobile or verizon customer) i get it as a slideshow. They get it just fine from me though.
Is there any way without downloading a new app to turn this retardedly dumb feature off? Could someone hack/edit the default text messaging app to just not use the slideshow feature at all? no one in the history of EVER has sent me more than 1 picture per a text message... i will NEVER want slideshow ever.

video quality bad in messages

so my wife and i use the stock samsung messaging app. when we try to send messages through sms they aren't the best quality. should we change the settings or maybe use a different messaging app? ill include video i made today and sent her. any suggestions would be awesome we are both coming from iphone 6s plus. heres link to video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCf9k_bVetA&feature=youtu.be
From my experience in general with multiple carriers and different phones, sending video via mms will always downgrade and distort the video quality due to limitations by the carrier (this is a common issue with all carriers and a google search will provide an explanation of why that occurs). Sometimes you might get an error that the video size is too large and can't be sent. When texting from iphone to iphone it's being sent over imessage not mms therefore your video quality won't be modified in any way. I personally use Google Allo when it comes to sending video files but any messenger app like fb or whatsapp will also do the trick.
Anything sent over MMS is limited to right around 1mb, carrier dependant. iPhones, as you're used to, uses iMessage, which is more of an internet based chat rather than a true SMS app. iMessage I believe limits you to 100mb.
Now, depending on what carrier you're on, Samsung uses RCS to send media, which kind of works like a combination of MMS and iMessage, and will allow you to send MUCH larger files. I know T-Mobile and Sprint have it active for Galaxy S7/8/9 users on the same carrier, and it should be going into wide spread release in the US in about a year.
If you're outside the US, I couldn't even begin to tell you about your carrier.
