Hi guys not sure what I'm doing wrong here, I had a few programs installed on my XDA but after not requiring them any more I unistalled then via ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.
* Pocket Quiz
* Visitors guide
* RegEdit
After unistaling them they're icons of the unistalled programs still displaying in my programs files
Can anybody tell me how do I remove these things?
Thanks
\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
and delete the stuff you want removed
Thanks loads it was racking my brain
I have noticed some temporary files (some really big - 1.65M) with names like "MsgQueueData..." created in the Windows directory under "My Device". I cannot delete these files as it says there is a share violation and these files are chewing up my available space. I tried restarting my pocket PC and yet I cannot delete them. Can someone please help
i havent heard about anybody being able to delete them
i asumed that they were pages files for different services
like phone and sms and...
Two questions:
Is there a directory of preloaded programs on the Dell Streak (from AT&T) so that you can find them in the root directory, and delete them?
Second, which is the best app for deleting them (and file management)?
I am used to WM6.5, and Resco Explorer on that OS was just like Windows Explorer, very easy to use, drag and drop, nested folders, etc.
Thanks
kww
I used App Delete from the market. Hit the menu key to show system apps. Give it a try.
P.S. Be sure to install BysyBox first.
Have busybox, thanks!
Is this the program you are talking about?

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
I did uninstall a number of items to free resources as described here: http://forum.pocketables.net/showthread.php?t=8457 or by using Root Uninstaller
amazonmp3.apk
com.twitter.android.apk
copilot.apk
HomeStageWidget-release.apk
NeroDellSync.apk
oovoo.apk
PicturesStageWidget-release.apk
RoxioNow.apk
SocialStageWidget-release.apk
StageLauncher-release.apk
VideoStageWidget-release.apk
ZinioReader.apk
Removing those APKs recovered about 60mb of space as well as eliminating some startup time.

Thanks, I downloaded app delete in the link above.
The only thing it couldn't delete is the youtube app. It deletes it, then it reappears....
We all know File Expert is one of the best file managers out there but did you know you can use it to keep files secret on our SG3?
Quite by accident I found a feature in File Expert (download free from Android Market or attached to this post) which allows you to hide files from media detection.
All you need to do once you have installed File Expert is browse to the folder(s) containing the media files you want to hide, press the folder for 2-3 seconds and select the option 'Hide files from media detection', reboot your phone and thats it done! Unhiding is just as simple; just select unhide from the File Expert menu in exactly the same way.
I can confirm that it works on both picure and video files. I haven't tried it on other media so am unable to comment. The only downside is that you can only do it at folder level so I would suggest that if you have a folder with a mixture of both files you want to hide AND be visible, simply create a sub-folder, move the files you want to hide to that and hide it
Hope you find this useful
You can hide files by inserting a .nomedia file in the respective folder
you can do so...by normal managers too...better to use hide it pro.

It appears that people are missing the point of my thread. Let me explain:
People like us who are experienced Android users may well know how to hide files but this doesn't mean others new to the OS do so it was with this in mind that I started the thread.
I just happened to find an alternative use for a program which is recommended on this site for file management and thought I would share my knowledge. I use Audio Manager aka Hide it Pro but my thread wasn't intended to be about that or file hiding programs in general it's about File Explorer and how we can use it to hide files and folders if we want to.
I'm not telling people this is what they should use; if people choose to, great, if not then I'm not going to get upset about it. As I said I'm just offering an alternative method of hiding private folders/files using a program that many people are already using and may not know that the option exists - I certainly didn't.
Hope this clears up any confusion and clarifies my reasons for creating this thread
