Name of the devise are corrupted. Help! - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello friends, help me please.
I had a 1.66 HSPL.
After Hard Reset my HD2 won't swich on. It stops on HTC logo.
I did HR again - the same result.
Then I tried to flash it, all went fine but now instead of HTC logo i see only Bootloader screen and the name of the devise are corrupted.
in bootloader
1#MIBX? HX-BC
SPL-1.66. HSPL XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x40
I can flash any SPL using the file "ModelIDCheckBypass.txt" on drive С: - same result.
but i cant flash even his own ROM because the name of the devise are corrupted. it stops on 1% with ERROR [244] INVALID MODEL ID
If i flash from microSD-card - 00058002 ERROR
How to bypass ID check????
What to do?? any ideas?

Try with a goldcard. This skips the Model ID.

Go to bootloader and try to flash HSPL2 or HSPL3 and then flash a stock rom witch You can find on this site. This should help You.

If You dont want to help dont write anything at all please . Not everyone know how to flash a phone and have to learn on their own mistakes. I learned this way myself.

i was actualy raising the point that there have been three threads in the past week where someone has been flashing and / or using task29, and now their bootloader shows corrupted model ID.
I wasnt being funny, or sarcastic, I was posting an observation. I worry about trends like three similar issues in a few days of each other (and between you and me i dont use task29, i dont trust it, it crops up in far too many 'can no longer flash'/'can no longer enter bootloader' threads,,,sorry doloop,,,mtty all the way for me) and i spent an hour earlier trying to find the thread where the guy posted a screenshot, and yes, the model ID is propper messed up, all strange characters and what not.

Between You and me - I always use task29 b4 flashing and never had a problem with it. and Im flashing every 2-3 days If You do it in the right way, nothing should go wrong.

i agree, a very useful tool, all credit to doloop for hexing the ruu.
however the fact that it is doing a flash and then erasing it seems like an unneeded extra flash, and every time you flash there is an element of risk, albeit small, a chance it will go wrong for no apparent reason, and especially if you use the radio rom method, since it seems bad radio flashes are more damaging than rom flashes.
since we flash several times a week, (i've done a half dozen flashes just this evening, playing with my kitchen ) you are doubling that small chance of something going wrong. with mtty, you are issuing the command directly, no flash involved.

hey..
i actually have the same problem as you
can you please let me know if you find a way to fix
i got this problem because the updates of the roms are soo frequent
i jstu keep doing the flash and new rom with the task 29 becasue i thoguht that does likea smiilar task to formatting a comp.

My SPV M3100 won't start...

Hello.
I have a problem I hope someone here can help me to solve..
I have an Orange SPV M3100 that hangs on the Windows Mobile screen when I try to start it.
I'm able to go into bootloader mode, and i have tried using mtty142.exe with the set 14 0 command. It still won't boot. I've also tried to hard reset it.. still won't boot..
What I did was trying to unluck the SIM-lock with the Universal unlocker (HTC_Uni_Unlock_v1) from buzz. At the time I thought universal meant that it worked on all HTC devices (stupid, I know)... And I also thought it was harmless to just try and see if it worked. But I got an error around 92-93% and after that my device won't start. So my radio ROM might be screwed.
I'd like to flash my ROM with the i-mate one (JASJAM_WWE_1.20.305.3_1.20.305.104_1.07.03.10_ship.exe) and then add the ext-rom. But how do I do that when I can just access the bootloader screen? And do you think it will boot again if I'm able to flash it?
Here's some more info about my device:
HERM100
IPL-1.01
SPL-1.04
Thank you very much in advance. Help will be highly appreciated.
No your rom *is* screwed. You can get into bootloader, you can even get to 11% of a dopod etc rom upgrade if you try, but you will not flash a new radio.
You CAN boot the device.
Do a hard reset, but do not press spacebar to reboot after. Instead, do a soft reset. The unit should boot but as you've screwed the radio you will not get a gsm signal and the phone will say unknown sim status.
I know this as I bought one cheap after the owner had done exactly the same as you.
IMEI-check's unlock solution is the only one that works IIRC, and in some cases this re-writes the security area of the phone and repairs similar issues, but in this case I could not get the prog to read.
You need to return the device to HTC - you'll need to pay approx £35 for reflashing back to the orange rom. This is what I had to do.
Currently you cannot book the m3100 in through the web as it's too new, instead email / call them.
http://service.htceurope.com/
edit - or if you're an orange customer ring 150 and act dumb saying it ' won't work'....
Richard
What happens if you just leave the phone in bootloader mode and then try to flash any ROM (imate, dopod, htc...)? run 2 times the RomUpgradeUt.exe if you get an error on the 1st try.
If you get an error while running the rom upgrade utility you can monitor the USB port while upgrading (you will see the real error from the bootloader then), there's some more info on this wiki page:

No, if you want to send it back under warranty do not try to run a rom update as there are no orange rom packages. As described in my post above, it will get to 11% and stop. The device will be in the same state as before, with the same ext rom, but the splash screen and bootloader will have changed.
i.e: it will be bloomin obvious you tried flashing it and failed. Not what you want if you try for a warranty repair....
There is no error from the bootloader - as there is no radio rom present and no security area the upgrade process just hangs.

That's true, do not try to flash any other roms if you want to use the warranty or send the device back...
Thank you very very much for your help guys.
As I'm the administrator of these devices in the company I work for I just grabbed a new SPV and will send this thing back to Orange. It sounded like I'm getting a new one..
Well, I think I've learnt my lession.
Oh, and I have another question. Is there a reg editor I can install on this one so I can remove the app lock? I know I can install java apps, but it's a bit grumpy about apps that needs installation (the developer must be certificated).
Cheers guys.

Sorry to take the thread a bit OT, but just wanted to confirm this again.
So, if I flashed my M3100 with a different ROM, and then had to return the phone to Orange for repair for a different reason, I can send it back to HTC just to have the ROM reflashed, and then send the phone to Orange to get the repairs done?
I've been hesitating on whether to flash the phone with a non-Orange ROM because I didn't want to give up the ability to obtain warranty repair (as there is no ROM upgrade yet). If it's just a matter of £35 and then everything else as normal, maybe it's not so bad...
Thanks!

Flash a bricked Hermes with wdatah ?

I have a bricked Hermes, I am not able to flash it.
Is it possible to flash a hermes, when it starts till the following picture ?
And I have no usb-connection via active sync, only with the Multi-Port TTY.
No I've read that I can flash it in the bootloader-modus with the command "wdatah " ?
So i pu in following:
USB>
USB>password 0000000000000000
HTCSPass1.CMˆËHTCEUSB>
USB>set 1e 1
USB>wdatah HERMIMG.nbh
Invalid parameter number!
USB>
So what is wrong ?
data is sent in blocks, you can't flash with mtty.
and how can I flash ?
I've also tried it with "hermimg.nbh" on the micro-sd card.
But it only shows loading... and then checking ... and nothing more.

secondly... what's wrong with your phone?

first ... i have SPL 1.04 and bootloader 107

thirdly - i have flashe my device and since the flashing the hermes doesnt start

Try to flash HTC 1.18 rom with bootloader 1.04 and run the RUU two times. If this doesn't work try to flash a radio using HERMflasher.

Aha this should work because the device was already in bootloader when we ran the RUU for a second time, how we got past CID check in the early days?

I have the same problem! It seem that there in no connection between the pc and pda... Other methods to update? I tried with the micro-sd too... It starts, but when it checks, so it freeze... Maybe the CID of the pda and the ROM's one is different?

I have the same problems. Put WM6 on my device. Now I have the Error 222. Also when I put HERMIMG on a SD card he do nothing. The difference between your device and mine is, that i boot the device but can't change any data. Don´t know what to do....
I am just trying the hermflasher.
Does anyone know how long the flash will last ?
There is no progress shown - only FLASH NBH on the device.
You should not flash a NBH, you should flash a radio: extract GSM.nb from the NBH file and flash it using the command 'hermflasher -F radio GSM.nb'.
@pof :
I've done what you said - and it works.
At start i have the strange screen (like a tv without antenna) but then it works.
Now I have : ROM-Version 1.25.207.2
Funkempf. 1.03.03.10
Prot. 32.34.7010.01H
Thanks a lot for your help.
And now, I consider to put another ROM on it (WM6 ?). to get at least a normal screen at startup.
First consider puting HardSPL to avoid bricking it again
Then flash any NBH containing the splash screens and you'll get the boot screen back

After bad flash, can't flash new radio (RSA FAIL)

Hello everyone,
i've been reading this forum for one month,
It was the day I decided to upgrade my HTC HD2, and someone disconnected the usb cable during the process.
Don't talk to me about that ;-)
The problem is I can't flash any rom radio into the phone.
OS ROMS work.
I read carefully a lot of posts here, I can say I have exactly the same problems as _Juster_ from this post :
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=618084
My phone is a french HTC HD2, Orange branded.
I successfully installed HSPL 2.08
Making upgrades using USB is very difficult, it is very unstable (communication errors, no response from the phone....) .
I tried on windows 7 pro and win xp sp3 and it is the same.
I then created a goldcard, that I'm using to flash directly in the phone. It is stable, but when flashing a radio rom I always get the "ERROR 00018003, RSA FAIL error".
I learned from xda that the issue can be solved by flashing the original stock radio rom from Orange.
I downloaded a lot of shipped roms from Orange, or HTC.
Always RSA_FAIL.
I'm maybe doing something wrong, or this is a hardware problem....
a few questions for you folks :
1/ It seems that the original Orange stock rom is a 1.43
Must I have the 1.42 HSPL to flash it ?
Is the version of your HSPL important, when you want to flash a rom ? can I flash whatever rom with any HSPL ?
2/ using a Glodcard with HSPL already installed.
when you enter on the bootloader (vol down + power) you arrive on the HSPL tri color screen, displaying HSPL 2.08....
Are you sure the Goldcard is being used ?
How to be sure of that ?
I think (I may be wrong) when you enter the bootloader mode You are on HSPL mode.
What I do to enter the goldcard mode :
I just press power,
I have a "Software update failed message"
Then I arrive to the "Loading..." message
With the name of the ROM i'm trying to flash
LEOIMG.nbh
RADIO V2
Press power to start update
Am I right ?
Thanks for reading this and helping me.
is there other Tasks like task 29 you are aware of ?
Task 29 formats the phone ?
is there a way to partition the phone or to diagnose if there's a problem ?
what do we know about that RSA_FAIL ?
I assume the RSA proccessing is to check whether the RSA Key of the radio rom matches the phone's one ?
Is there a software way to bypass that RSA check ?
I've downloaded 22 radio roms (from orange and HTC) + several others (shipped & cooked)
I always get a RSA FAIL message when I try to flash.
any clue ? something ?
Can't really make out if you tried it from your post, but you could try to flash back to stock by using the SD flash method. Just put the leoimg.nbh in the root of the SD and boot while holding the vol down button. That way you go back to stock spl, rom and radio.
Check the sticky in the ROM development section which refers to the whole HSPL and how to flash everything topic. That should fill you in on HSPL.

I already flashed 22 radio roms and a dozen of full roms (os + radio) using SD CARD.
As the usb is very unstable I'm using the sd card method to flash, which is also a goldcard.
the problem is I ALWAYS get the RSA FAIL message (error 00018003) at the end of the radio flashing process.
This guy : forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=618084
had the same problem but with un unbranded phone and had it solved by flashing a cooked rom he randomly choosed.
To understand the situation,
my phone is an Orange branded one, what is the difference between a branded and an unbranded phone, assuming they both have the same HSPL ?
thx
Just sold my HD2.
Seems like some questions don't have answers....
what was the problem? íf i understand you right, it even worked..but you couldnt flash another radio...
why dont you use it further?

The phone wasn't able to boot
It was stuck at the white HTC logo,

sorry...
so who bought it? how much did you get?

You don't just rename the whole update, you extract the ruu_signed.nbh file and rename that.
RSA FAIL
I had the same problem with my polaris (htc touch cruise - pola160). I managed to get rid of the problem by downgrading the radio rom.
I couldn't find my old one, but I was able to find the highest version older than my old one in the forum. So I first downgraded the radio using the sd card, after that the rom I was trying to install in the first place worked.
Thx to pcarvalho for this "fix" : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3645124&postcount=1 - the "Important Note:" section (always read the small print ).
Hope this helpes.

Put the back of the phone in front of an AC in cold for 5 minutes, and keeping it always in front of the AC try to install.
If you are able to do that, send it back to the warranty.
Hello,
I have the same problem!
long time ago I had HTC devices, but few days ago I bought HD2 and it was installed android. Is unable to start or when they try to load a ROM eror occurs.
phone has only a white scrin.
error occurs mostly when upgrade Radio ver. I somehow managed NRGZ image but again not boot system.
Task 29 also comes to 19% and stops with the error.
I have a feeling that the real problem is the radio version. (00,018,003 Radio Fail)
I do not know what is the original ROM.

.) i did a hard reset, which went really fast and did nothing.
.) tried hspl 3 ( it says succesfully flashed, but when i load the bootloader the previous version is being displayed there.
.) tried to flash:
-stock rom from sd, i get stuck in the bootloader "serial"
basicly it just does nothing...
i used a 2gb mirco sd card for that, formatted in fat32. stock rom extracted and renamed the RUU_signed.nbh to leoimg.nbh. volume down + reset
-stock rom from pc/usb connection, error/timeout at 0% saying connection problems.
im running out of idea's, i got 1 month warranty left, but im afraid that it will do me no good since i used hspl
You need to update your spl to 2.08.hardspl AND you mostlikely need to flash your radio as well.
I found out that i made a mistake while trying to flash from sd, i didn't put the leoimg at the root of the sd so it didn't get detected. I managed to get rid of the white screen after flashing but its nowhere near functional. It also gave me an error during the flash, but it carried on and finished the flash eventually...
Now when i boot winmo it says something about microp mismatch, i tried two different roms to make sure it had nothing to do with the rom i was using, it didn't... i had the same problem with both. So my guess is that something is damaged, at least hspl is gone now so i can make use of my warranty again, for the people that don't have warranty left i hope somebody comes up with a solution, if there is one, everything points to hardware damage from my point of view. Would be interesting to know how your problem developed...! anyway good luck

Yeah sure i can do that, but before i do you need to tell me how you got that white screen in the first place. If it's not because of a failed flash attempt you probably want to keep your phone as it is now, so you can make use of your warranty... hspl makes that impossible!
It's probably a hardware problem, i looked up on that microp mismatch and it looks like a hardware failure, updating your software isn't going to solve that, it might solve the white screen issue, but the phone itself won't be functional. Try to explain what happened so i can give you proper instructions on what to do.
If you can start your phone and enter the bootloader there is no need to sent to service.
Enter bootloader and flash from there HSPL 2.08, and flash radio too.
After that flash MAGLDR and android rom.
guys as i have posted in my last post
that was a condition i have received from costumer.
i guess he tried to update it...

With the phone off, press and hold the Volume Down button and then tap the Power button.
You will get a multicoloured screen with the word 'Serial' at the bottom. What else does the screen display?
What country and phone operator is the phone locked to?
if you want to install a custom rom or eventually android you are going to need hspl, there are enough guides and tutorials on how to do that on this forum, search for it.
if you just want to bring the phone back to life, running windows mobile, you can go to the htc website. Go to the support section and select your phone and look for available rom updates for your phone/serial number.
connect your phone to the pc and follow the instructions of the setup and upgrade... if the phone doesn't get detected, extract ruu_signed.nbn from the setup file and rename it to leoimg.nbn
put that at the root of your sd card formatted in fat32 and boot your phone holding down the volume down button. Follow the instructions, when its done you can reboot the phone and hopefully you can make use of it

Not really, i was able to do that and even flash an upgrade on the phone, but not without errors, the phone didn't function properly after the flash, so its very likely that something is damaged in my case. I send my phone to htc so they can repair it.
it displays the info
PB81110 Hx-BC
Spl-1.42.0000 Xe
Microp(Led) 0X05
Microp(touch) 0x30
Flash a stock rom... in usb mode..
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
hey guys i tried to download rom from htc support area
but it asked me to enter serial num when i entered the
device serial it gives error.
The serial number you’ve provided appears to be invalid. Please try again.
could any plz tell me the exact procedure and the links to download
what ever it requires its just because i'm new with this softwares
here the info which i got from bootloader mode is:
PB81110 Hx-BC
Spl-1.42.0000 Xe
Microp(Led) 0X05
Microp(touch) 0x30
If you want to install a stock rom you should know what kind of WM has your HD2.
You may not be able to flash any stock rom. There are a lot of versions, regions and it may take some time to try all of them.(http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=windows mobile&model=Leo)
If you do not know the version, as you say you have SPL 1.42.
If this is true you can change to HSPL and after that flash any rom you want, and android.
This should solve your problems.
So download the HSPL from the second post. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433)
Enter bootloader connect the USB cable and flash HSPL.Select 2.08 HSPL from the list.
If you succeed. If you check the bootloader you should see something like Cotulla HSPL 2-08.
Now you can flash any rom you want, the same way: download a rom of your choice, enter bootloader, connect usb cable and start the RUU utility.
If you want to flash android you have to upgrade the radio version.(the same way)
Flash MAGLDR.(the same way).
Flash android.(this is different).
If i am wrong, anybody feel free to correct me.
I would say also do a task29 that contains blank .nbh. you must have hspl 2.08 first to run this then install any custom ROM through PC or your branded ROM through SD card it should work. i hope this helps.

Its been a long time but im wondering if your problem is goldcard related, you really need somebody who has more expereince recently with wm as my memory is not so good on this now im afraid, hold on what exactly word for word is the error when installing hspl? does it say anything about missing files? are you flashing in bootloader mode (3 colours) and are you running the flasher as administrator???? right click run as administrator??

HSPL3 says;
Quote:
Only way to remove the HSPL is to flash an original SPL from SD card.
- Take any "RUU_signed.nbh" from an original ROM and copy it to your SD card.
- Rename to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset your device while pressing the volume down button.

Also you can factory reset by holding both the up and down volume buttons down at the same time and switching the device on with the buttons still held down !

Well I hope you can solve this one as I have to admit defeat, I know is the error code can indicate a damaged file but he has re-tried with a new flasher and its the same error, I was wondering if it was a goldcard issue as I seem to remember that can cause a flash fail, but we don't use goldcards anymore, I suppose it is possible its bricked but if its entering the tri coloured screen it should flash, so I am stumped, your turn lol
How the rom got deleted? we just replaced flat cable
Anyway, there is a way that i can do flash the rom?
i was assuming you'd done a task29, (i dont read back previous posts, it'd take me forever, heh, so sometimes i miss / miss-remember something)
Just had a quick 20mins reading and googling, , strange thing is, , your line "B 1.48.71294" , , , thats an odd looking rom version, it would normally be something like 1.43.206.4, , where the .206. gives the rom locale, and carrier (206 is O2 uk, for example)
71294 is (i think) a build number, something like that, but i dont remember it ever being displayed on the start screen (course its been a loong time since i booted winmo)
If i remember correctly, it gets that info from the registry of the installed rom, which would suggest to me the possibility of a non stock rom, something thats been messed with, you sometimes see people post odd entries after JTAGGing and the like.
What's the history of the phone? you know where it originally came from? the original carrier? has it been repaired in any shady one-man phone repair shops?
for me, id try the following,,, get a 2gb (4gb at a push, certainly no bigger) and make a goldcard (instructions here - gc creator here )
get the wwe unbranded 3.14 rom, extract the ruu_signed, rename to leoimg,,, (blah blah u know how to sd card flash)

How task29? i don't have HSPL and you must have it do task29
My dad officaly bought it from the offical import of the phone in israel, "Newpan", with offical hebrew on it
Simfree from factory.
It was repaired by him
Clicked "'Get SD Serial and Disk ID" - the software get stucked. it's suppose to take that long?

hmm, cant find any reference to an official (as in htc) newpan rom, just a few mentions of people installing something from the htc desire to get rtl text working, perhaps newpan cooked their own, , shouldnt matter though, at least we're sure its not a jtagged device, or a rebuild from parts.

no, it shouldn't, what sd card reader are you using? a usb one? one in teh front of a pc? cos if they're usb mounted then you actually often get the cid of the card reader not the card, ,
In htc site you can't find roms for hd2 at all
Through my samsung i9000 because 64bit doesn't support my card reader
even though it's not connected it's stuck.
sorry, out of ideas, other than hunt out sources of card readers, , friends computers, laptops, other phones, multibooting a 32bit operating system.,,,,
