Changing Everything to Default - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Xda Members,
I'm using HTC HD2 for 6 months.
I've installed Hard SPL first. Then i've upgraded my Radio Rom from 2.07 to 2.12. Then I've installed ChuckyRom and later I changed my rom to EnergyRom.
Now, I'm going to send my HTC HD2 to service and I want to send it with factory settings because of warranty issues.
I need to know;
1. How can I change the boot screen to original one? (The first one which seems when I turn on the phone; it shows ChuckyRom's boot screen now.)
2. How can I erase every clue about custom roms after flashing the shipped rom? Is it possible for them to understand that I had flashed a custom rom before?
3. When I press Volume Down + Start Button i see LEOIMG.nbh and other stuff. Is it possible to erase them? (I've removed the LEOIMG.nbh from SD Card already.)
If you help me I'll be grateful.

I am using Energy rom, couple of months ago I sent my phone back for warranty. I just downloaded the latest rom from HTC site. If I remember correctly it changes hard spl and radio, but i'm not sure of that. Perhaps you need to install normal spl with the spl tool.
I know for sure that it also changed my boot screen to stock(with the red Vodafone boot screen for NL).
Hope this'll help you out a bit! Maybe this'll help too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=713977

Just flash a stock ROM from SD card. See forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477

Normally, you should post this in either the HD2 ROM or the HD2 Q&A sub-forum...
If you've read the HSPL/HSPL2 thread, you would've seen this:
4) Uninstallation
Only way to remove the HSPL is to flash an original SPL from SD card.
- Take any "RUU_signed.nbh" from a ship ROM and copy it to SD card.
- Rename it to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.
So basically: download the right official ROM from HTC for your device (this means: right language/vendor), rename to leoimg.nbh and flash from SD-card.
After this, just format your SD-card (or remove it, you shouldn't send it in normally) and you're done
Grtz,
Degake
Thank you degake.
When this progess is done, is it possible for to understand that I had flashed a custom rom before?
Will the boot screens return to default ones?

no- once you have placed an official rom and have removed hspl everything is back to stock (boot screen and all). no one will be the wiser.

Exactly.
If you flash the shipped ROM this way, HTC won't be able to tell if there was anything else installed prior to this flash (as the whole internal memory got wiped before installing the shipped ROM).
Grtz,
Degake
should he task 29 before doing this flash?

not necessary. just flash stock rom and then remove hspl- now is back to factory and ready to be sent in.

[Q] Help needed with flashing stock rom

Hello
Since a week or two I get color distortions on my screen (blue/yellow stripes), this seems a hardware/motherboard related issue, and therefore I'm returning my HD2 to the store.
For this reason I'm trying to flash my stock ROM back, namely _HTC_HD2_RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.66.404.1_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship. It's one I got directly from HTC's product support site.
As I've come to understand, flashing the stock ROM from an microSD card, will immediately put the right radio back in place as well.
However, I tried to flash this leoimg.nbh (from microSD yes), but the flashing failed and I got a RUUNBH error. So using HSPL I updated my radio back to 2.08.HSPL, and from there back to a TMOUS radio, to reinstall my beloved ChuckyROM.
I almost thought my phone was ready for the trash.
Now the question is... what is the right way to get back to my stock ROM? Preferrably without potentially trashing my phone..
I'd like to get back to one of these:
_HTC HD2_RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.66.404.1_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship
_HTC HD2_RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.48.404.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship
_HTC HD2_RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.43.404.1_Radio_Signed_15.26.50.07U_2.04.50_22_2_Ship
Edit:
I'm currently using ChuckyROM with TMOUS radio 2.11.50.26 which seems to be relevant as well since some people seem to have bricked their phone with a TMOUS radio.
Edit 2:
Solution that worked for me
I recommended this one.
_HTC HD2_RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.66.404.1_Radio_Signed_15.30. 50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship
It's the last update in the list you have.
Ore; depending from your country this one.
It's the one I use when I go back on stock Rom before I install cooked Rom.
RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.66.404.1_Radio_CRC_Signed_15.32.50.07U_2.07.51.22_2_Ship
Yes, but it's also the one that "crashed" during the flashing. I'm looking for the correct steps to flash them.
I was using ChuckyROM with the TMOUS radio, and then all I did was rename the RUU_signed.nbh in the exe file to leoimg.nbh and put it on the microSD-card. Then reset my phone (and pressed volume down) and the flashing began.
Should I have done something else first/instead?
Thanks for the reply
Small bump
Quick update on this one.
I managed to get back to a stock rom with the following steps:
I downgraded HSPL by running HSPL2, and selected the "1.42.HSPL" version.
Then I extracted the .nbh from _HTC HD2_RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.43.404.1_Radio_Signed_15.26. 50.07U_2.04.50_22_2_Ship, and flashed the whole thing (from microSD card).
Something weird happened during this step. I wasn't able to launch the flashing by doing a reset+vol.down. Instead I put the .nbh on my microSD AND started the RUU upgrade with ActiveSync.. somehow this magically triggered the install of the .nbh that was on my microSD. This luckily worked.
From here I got back to a ROM version that was available on the HTC product site, namely _HTC HD2_RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.48.404.2_Radio_Signed_15.28. 50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship. I just ran this update with ActiveSync, not from microSD.
AFAIK, it's now safe for me to bring it back for warranty! ^^

Flashing the original stock ROM over SD will remove HSPL, will bring your radio on the version who is integrated in stock ROM and brings you back on stock settings.
So the only thing you need to do is flashing over SD
thanks alot!

1) Download the correct Stock ROM from the HTC Webpage by using your S/N. (you will get a RUU_Leo_xxx_x.XX.xxx.x_Radio_xx.xx.xx.xU_x.xx.xx.x_LEO_Ship file.)
2) Right click on the RUU_Leo_xxx_x.XX.xxx.x_Radio_xx.xx.xx.xU_x.xx.xx.x_LEO_Ship file and select extract with 7Zip/WinZip
3) Prepared your SD-card (use a 2 or 4GB SD no bigger) and format it by FAT32
4)Take the "RUU_signed.nbh" from it and copy it to SD card.
5) Rename the "RUU_signed.nbh" to "leoimg.nbh"
6) Reset the device while pressing the volume down button
7) Follow the instructions mention on your screen
i've done that. worked so far to flashed my HD2 without errors.
but after i come to home screen my HD2 acts like someone's permanently pressing VOL(-). don't matter what i press or do. i tried a lot of different ROMs, flashing by cable or with SDcard, task29, diff. radio, flash hspl new. all that.

Get start to give us some more device information.
- witch Rom version do you have now?
- Radio version?
- SPL/HSPL version?
i tried to flash the latest official HTC ROM: "HTC_HD2_5CRUU_Leo_S_HTC_GER_3.14.407.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship" to get shure its no ROM problem.
Radio i had on my HD2 was: Radio_Leo_2.15.50.14 witch worked well for the last 3 months!
HSPL is: 2.08HSPL
i also had to say that before that i flashed gingerbread on NAND. working fine (exept battery drain and the default known ROM problems
an there i had also a VOL (-) problem (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=906881)
because of that i wanted to change back to WM.
and thats the state know!
i first thought my bad usb-connector causes flash problem (i found 2 bad made conntacts under the microscope), thats why i flashed wia SD now.

First of all remove your HSPL; HSPL and stock ROM 3.14 isn't compatible and create lot of issues/problems.
allready done (by flashing via SD) ?!
as written here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623402
for me it looks like WM is missing a sound file or something like that, and thats why it permanetly switch down VOL.
because i get a "file missing" windows for a few ms, but there is no concret file name so i don't now really whats missing
is this possible?
i solved it!
I've got no idea why but its working!
I started the SD update process once more (the third time now
(nothing changed!)
what I've done is i waited after reboot till it locked it selves (screen black)
but i think that made no difference
probleme there again
once more bad news.......tomorrow mornig my HD2 is going crazy again :'(
actual state: my VOL(-) button isn't working.
so i think the real problem was my (know) defect VOL (-) button.
sometimes working sometimes not....

Return to stock rom?

Hey XDA, i've been having trouble with my Hd2 lately, so i wanted to return it back to its original rom, like when i first got it. Right now i have the NRG rom, but i'm trying to get it back to the stock rom. I've followed a lot of guides, but when i try flashing the stock rom it just boots back as the NRG rom. Can anyone help me?
i'm currently trying to use the method where you rename the "ruu_signed.nbh" to "LEOIMG.nbh" and place it on your storage card, but when i reboot while holding down the VOLUME DOWN button, the grey screen thats suppost to show up only flashes for a second, and it leaves me at the red/green/blue screen.
please help...

Try to alter, Download official ROM from HTC.com , run task29 to remove previous ROM, run the downloaded ROM (.exe) after sync'ing your phone with WMDC .
Although HSPL isn't compatible with stock ROM so you can remove it if wanted to.
i just did this. run from your computer hspl3 an install spl 2.08 then run hspl2 and install spl 1.42 then just install the official rom.
never did no sd card stuff

Dead Titan?

When flash was full, HTC titan began freezing at random places, I deleted some pictures/videos/apps, looks okay until during charging it suddenly reboots and now it is stuck at bootloader HTC screen, I did hard reset, same thing, factory reset, one of 3 tries of factory reset, I can get to windows however only basic phone call works, everything else crashes. The other 2 out of 3 hard reset attempts, either stuck at installing apps (during the initial setup phase), or stuck at HTC logo.
Finally out of options, I tried to use RUU (ROMUpdateUtility.exe) with the downloaded original US Cingular ROM (Original named IMG_Eternity_Cingular_US_1.10.502.04_Radio_16.23.02.26_A_16.27.00.23_Signed_ETERNITY_RELEASE.nbh renamed to ETERIMG.nbh in order to flash), and got same crash/freeze as above. By the way I did verify the SPL bootloader matched the ROM.
Contacted HTC support, they say I have to send it for repair if I want to go that route, anyone know how much they charge? Mine is out of warranty. Only 1.5 years!
Right now it is stuck at installing apps again, and it seems getting harder and harder to get past that stage in order to have basic phone call functionality.
Try to boot phone without any sim card and give feedback
Sent from my GT-I9205 using xda app-developers app

Stop please! You need to tell us what exactly do you mean when your flash is full...your internal memory? It appears by your 2nd paragraph you're attempting to HSPL your device. If you're stuck at the HTC Logo it normally means you're using the wrong radio firmware for the rom; my device for example is HSPL...I will never forget the effort I put into that feat, but the radio had to be changed to version 17 not 16 though you will find roms that will operate on 16, so let's start with what exactly are you trying to do...thanks!

The Titan was untouched, unmodded, fully functional. Then over time ts internal flash drive (16GB) became totally full.
Deleted some pictures/videos from within Zune software, uninstalled some apps and I get back 1GB or 2GB.
Recharged again then during this recharging period, it rebooted, ever since then, it became the state as I described in original post.
Sometimes stuck at HTC logo, sometimes after another factory reset (accessed from vol up + vol down + power HSPL menu),
The radio was 16, and the RUU program indicated it installed the 389(?)MB rom successfully, I made sure I downloaded the original cingular rom that had same radio 16 number.
Just trying to get Titan alive again, not even attempting custom firmware. From what I read on the forum, I will need USB-Y cable + goldcard
to install custom stuff. However I believe the RUU program I used allows flashing of stock ROM.

I was going to recommend Goldcard and it works perfect! You're stock so you need a stock ROM. Double check your model #, mine for example are PI39100s. I HSPL'd my Titans via Goldcard. You might want to attempt the HSPL process if you're nuts enough to try it. But be aware you will need the correct debranding ROM to do so. But for your purposes, you need "stock". I was really surprised how easy the Goldcard method is...it picks it up right out the blocks and you follow the prompts.

The RUU.exe works with stock firmware reflashing already, so when I tried it it was stuck at 4% complete for a minute, then 67% for 30 sec, then 87% for 30 sec, then finally complete 100% successfully, then after reboot, it enters the setup stage and stuck at installing apps again even after 10 minutes. There's something wrong with the phone, so weird, maybe a hammer will do the trick.

Bear with me for a moment...I own a HD2 which is a joy to flash Android and Windows Phone or the both of them, WP on NAND and Android on SD. I've had devices dating back to Windows Mobile 6.1 and flashing my Titans is identical to flashing all the rest of them once you're developer/interop unlocked to do so. As the HD2s age, their internal ROM become corrupted so the gurus here came up with NativeSD, now I realize were talking about two different animals here but when you flash a Windows Mobile/Phone operating system you reformat and erase whatever it is to be installed on; it doesn't matter if its micro sd memory cards or internal rom. I don't know if there is an equivalent Task 29 (wipes the memory) for the Titan's internal rom or is it even necessary; it's standard procedure on the HD2 via the HD2 Toolkit. I want you to do me a favor and send me what is on your bootloader screen, specifically the SPL, I'm thinking it's 2.05 but there are some others running around too. It is clear you can flash, but when I'm hung on the HTC logo it's the radio that is wrong, so please double check that the radio is correct. I'm not aware there are any radio 17s out there on stock but I am by no means an expert at all of this. Know this, there is the real possibility that you have a corrupted internal memory and where it is corrupted or fragmented is a big deal. I'm asking myself can the memory be erased before flashing and I don't have that answer. The roms you're using suggest you're not using a Windows Phone 7.8 stock Rom, but neither do I know if there is a stock flashable 7.8 Rom; I have the debrand 7.0s but none of the Mango 7.5s; I only have the flashable custom 7.8s but will look later this evening for one. I realize I may have asked you this before but please let me know what your model number, SPL, radio, and verify one more time if upon completion of the rom install does the phone reboot automatically after initial setup...the language, time, date, you hit next and start installing apps...is it the first install apps or afterwards where you hit next before you get to the start menu for the very first time. If at all possible do you remember inside your settings, under "about" how much memory you had, and how much was available. Thanks!

That means it upgraded successfully to a more updated Cingular stock rom, if I can use RUU to flash stock rom again
and again, it means writing internal flash is okay(?), but reading internal flash becomes problematic. I noticed
recently I can't even get to setup screen.

Thanks!

I did double/triple check radio is 16 for my very original stock rom and the roms I downloaded all have radio 16 as part of filename.
Model: PI39100
SPL: Original: 1.10, now is 2.1
Right now can't even get to setup screen now, it used to be 1 out 3 hard resets I can reach that stage, now it always reboots
after it failed to get past Windows logo stage (which happens about 8~20sec after HTC logo and AT&T logo stage)

This is what it looks now after succesfully flashing the IMG_Eternity_Cingular_2.01.502.04_Radio_16.23.03.1 7_16.27.00.23U_OS_7.10.7740.166.nbh
That means it upgraded successfully to a more updated Cingular stock rom, if I can use RUU to flash stock rom again
and again, it means writing internal flash is okay(?), but reading internal flash becomes problematic. I noticed
recently I can't even get to setup screen.

My apologies that I haven't replied sooner; I'm a full time college student thus I'm a bit busy. If your SPL is 2.1 then you have not successfully installed the Cingular 1.10 ROM otherwise your SPL would read 1.10 which this ROM and the European 1.09 ROM are used to downgrade the SPL on the Titan for HSPL and custom ROM flashing...which you've made me aware that is not what you're attempting to do but it is one of the steps towards doing just that. I'm going to attach my notes on my HSPL of my device which is extensive. There might be something in it that might help you. But for example my bootloader reads: PI39100...HSPL2.5.160015.3(137079)...eMMC SND 15188MB...CotullaH(F:81, ID:1,V11, B:f8)...double space...Radio-17.5006.08.27. I realize you're not trying to HSPL but if you are able to get your SPL to read 1.10, I think you should try it, the worse that can happen to you is the SPL will read SPL2.5.160015.3 not HSPL2.5.160015.3. I still recommend the Goldcard Method. My notes will be attached as a Word file.

Mine was SPL 1.1 before any flashing, now it is 2.1 because I flashed a SPL 2.1 Stock ROM.
Let me try to flash it back to SPL 1.1 again. I am not planning to use custom ROM so I don't think I need a gold card for now.
Used same RUU to flash back to HSPL 1.0 from 2.1, anyway it still looks dead to me. It's a loss.
Anyway thanks everyone for the help.
The weird thing is I can flash back and forth between 1.0 and 2.1, meaning internal flash drive has no issue during writing.
