Just an FYI -
There is a NEW StarTrek coming soon. This, of course, will be available all over the world and Cingular will be caring it. There are some major upgrades to this device. (GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS850, UMTS1900, UMTS2100, WM6, 400Mhz CPU and a 2MP Camera) Not to shabby for a clamshell.
HTC S420
Here are the specs - http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=727&view=1
Enjoy -
as cartman would say, sweeeeeeeetttttt!
Where have you read anything that Cingular will carry this for sure? I'm hoping that they will but to date all I have seen is speculation.

John - Here are some articles from the press. Also, this does have the GPS chip in it also. The downside is that the preliminary specs show a USB 1.1 speeds. Arghh!! Why have a phone this nice with USB 1.1 is crazy! Not all that bad though.

128mb rom and 64mb ram is useless in a device with these specs. You will have limited opportunity of putting it to use without running out of memory. And why such a meagre battery? I would have thought that cingular 3125 has set the way to go.
sales figures (the future of WM flipphones) ?
Does anyone have sales figures on the 3125 ?
Basically, I'd like to know if it appears that Smart flipphones like the 3125 are popular enough that we can expect strong future developments, even an increase in their prevalence.
There's a constant little battle, e.g. in Treo forums, WM forums, as to whether *everyone* wants a QWERTY, whether candybay-QWERTY phones are the "one true" form factor. I for one, prefer no QWERTY, and a flipphone. I have a feeling that I'm in the minority -- but that's ok. The real question is: Is it so small a minority that we can't expect much in the way of future offerings. The 3125 is really the only current example of this form factor (there were the Samsung i500, i600, and the Kyocera 7135 and the Moto MPX200 in the past). Is the future not terribly bright ?
I really want an 3125-like phone WITH a touch screen, running full PPC. No way ? Why not ?

We may be in the minority, but I'm totally with ya - that is my ideal converged device. The numeric keys are the important ones (especially in my case, where my employer enforces passcode lock if I choose to do Exchange sync, so I am punching in numbers all the time). But Qwerty tends to add a lot of bulk on a device that I want slim and pocketable - so if you want slim like I do, touchscreen and stylus should be good enough for text entry. I think most people haven't worked with stylus enough to see that it can be pretty fast.
The 3125 is really the only current example of this form factor

Well, if you are in the US, there is one other offering now. If you don't mind a CDMA network, Verizon recently came out with the Pantech PN-820 WM5 flip smartphone. Not significant worldwide, but maybe a hopeful sign for our favorite form factor...

Well I still agree we are in the minority, but a couple of manufacturers are about to give us our wildest dream and see if it flies. If you haven't already, you need to check out the upcoming i-Mate Ultimate 9150, supposed to be available in June this year. It's everything you've mentioned - flip-phone with WM6 Pro (full PPC with touchscreen) and a very nice spec sheet:
http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=720
The only thing it is missing that I really want in my ultimate converged device is built-in GPS. For that, I am keeping my eye on the upcoming HTC P5500 (aka "Nike"), supposed to be available in September. It is a numeric slider instead of flip, but similar idea so maybe close enough for me...
http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=736
I agree, the 3125 form factor is the way to go. I can type much faster with T-9 than with the Qwerty anway. Unfortunately, everyone seems to be in love with either the bricks like the 8525 or the Treo.
Thanks for the pointers to coming promising smart flipphones. Perhaps there *is* a god ... We should throw the upcoming Samsung SGH-i770 into the same mix: with its innovative QWERTY, it might just solve the debate between dialpad and QWERTY:

Is there any way we can ask/suggest to HTC to build a StarTrek with a touch screen and full PPC ?
still no wifi? WHY?!
I'd gladly forget 3G and include a WiFi chip... Because when I don't have a signal, I love to surf and find WiFi hotspots, and I have all my calls forwarded to a skype number when unavailable (sort of like UMA, tho uma isn't available yet).
I wanted the StarTrek so badly, but lack of WiFi breaks the deal for me! I was hoping they'd add it to this one... *sigh*, guess I'm stuck with my tornado for now, with wiFi.
new start trek
i have qtek 8500 and its a fantastic phone now with this new one i could replace it
pitty the new one hasnt got wifi otherwise what i heard about it is a very good phone much better and faster than qtek 8500
I agree, I would give up 3g for a Wifi chip if it would cost acouple bucks more. I access the internet at higher speeds with a Wireless internet at home and work! The internet via Cingular is SLOW, even at it's fastest. Its like comparing dialup with high bandwidth. Cingular can not come close to 15 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload speeds.
Hi, i know that for some of you buying an X10 right now is kind of pointless because there are a lot of available new phones but at the moment it's the only decent android device (1Ghz CPU) my carrier (Movistar Uruguay (movistar.com.uy)) is offering and is actually the best phone any carrier here is bringing. Buying an Unlocked one is out of question because of the insanely high prices (Galaxy S U$S ~1500) and no one i know is going to the US any time soon. So i can get the X10 in Movistar here at the same price of the X10 unlocked in the US (still pretty expensive).
Enough of background, i had the chance to try the Desire (U$S 1200! (tic.com.uy/HTC/)) and i found it to be snappier and more responsive than the X10. I mean, the Desire experience was what i expected but the X10 let me somewhat disappointed. Specially when sliding through the home screens and list scrolling. I can compare the Desire with the iPhone 3GS but the X10 seems it's below that. Even in Youtube videos.
Has anyone experienced that too? I know it was running Donut but nonetheless it felt like my firend's nokia 5230 or even the Samsung Star (which i think is also s5230). Heck, even the X8 running donut felt snappier. Maybe I'll go give it another try but this is kind of the only thing stopping me now with pinch n zoom around the corner and custom Froyo eventually available.
Sorry if i made it too long but i want to get my bang from my bucks. Hopefully while i make up my mind some other devices are going to be available, but now all the attention is in the iPhone 4 and RIM over here. Not so much on android.
Thanks for reading.
I liked X10 work pretty well but I have to say 384mb of ram may not be enough for play
I really bad thing is flash does not work
go for galaxy S i9000
Thanks for the quick reply but did you read what i said? 1500 US dollars for the galaxy. I mean, I tried it. it's great, gorgeous, but to my pocket it's not U$S 1000 better.
What i want to know is about the lag when panning and scrolling, because is practically the same hardware as the desire but the response in the desire is perfect.
Which games aren't suited for 384mb? is there a lot of difference? I don't plan to do hardcore gaming either. just some angry birds or something like that. I just want to get a good android experience like syncing, browsing, video, music, some drawing, etc.

If you wanna a solid long lasting device - buy X10. If you wanna play around with tech and change gadgets as fast as they appear at the market and go fashionable - don't buy X10. Simple.
SE is a kind of Rolls Royce here.
I want a solid lasting device but that kind of things are ceasing to exist, that's why i'm aiming to a high end right now which will be considered mid range in a year or too.
I like SE, my first phone was a K310 and only changed it when i got my G705(now flashed to W715).
But again, what i really want to know is if anyone here was able to use the X10 and compared it to a similar specs phone (Desire, N1, SGS, Milestone) and found the X10 considerably slower/laggier than the others, if it's something which was fixed in 2.1 or not at all.
I repeat: I want to get it, but want to be sure, but don't want to be disappointed.

As i said in the first post, i'm bound to what my carrier offers and right now the only high-end android it's the xperia. The smartphone market here it's very small at the moment, it's growing and the carriers are noticing it. But it's very much about iPhone, RIM and some Nokias (n95, 5230).
Is it possible for any Mod to change the thread name?
[Q] Is X10 laggier than similars? (Planing to buy)
Thanks
Try to read this post ^_^
I don't have and haven't tried other phone you mention but my X10i is very responsive and can accommodate all my need. I play Angry birds, and even Pocket Legend. ^^
If you wait until after christmas, I can buy a new x10 or captivate/i9000m for you and ship it to you for under $600 (unlocked). Even with duties and whatnot, you should still come out paying a lot less!
I say AFTER Christmas because I don't feel like lining up at the post office
The I9000m is the model with a front facing camera (2cams) and FM radio built-in (the captivate doesn't have either of those), but the captivate is the better option for you. It is a bit more sturdy, isn't known to have a large failure rate for internal memory like the i9000m, and there are ROMs coming out the whazzuu for it Also this phone is silky smooth when cycling through backgrounds, meanwhile the x10 is limited to 32fps until somebody does something about it.
The X10 is the better option if you want an even more solid device, MUCH BETTER GPS (much much better), a notification LED, and camera LED and an overall better camera.
People did some tests in which showed the galaxy S camera is better in many types of light but if you fiddle with the manual settings, the X10 camera is considerably better!

Thank you, can't wait to give it another try tomorrow at the store and with a lot of hope it performs right.
Have you seen any performance improvement since 1.6 or by removing SE apps?
I know i'm being too nitpicky but i can't stand even a half second lag when scrolling and swyping. I watched all the videos in yt and gsmarena and in 1.6 they always touch, stop and then slowly move the fingers like they have to wait for the phone to keep up, and even then the thing they're moving stays behind the finger... in 2.1 gets better but it's still not like desire.
That said i'd probably get it next week if nothing else is offered in the next few days.
Thank you again to all.

Even Swiss bank doesn't give any guarantees. Forget it. Take what you like more. And don't stick to specs - they says nothing. I used to post it in another thread, but it fits here too:
"I have maybe a little politically incorrect point of view on the cell phone (and other technical stuff) design. It is about the culture. Not about "don't littering", but about engineering. Ericsson (and Sony Ericsson) has pretty long history that gave them experience. HTC, Samsung, etc are relatively young and most of their problems are rooted there. Look - overall satisfaction for X10 without the last technology bells and whistles like OLED or multitouch is higher, than hi-tech-packed rival's devices. Why? Because according to the experience, they realize, that it is impossible to be perfect and it is better to concentrate to ergonomics issues. The device should be easy-to-use, foolproof and hard-to-break. That can be understood through the long experience of analyzing how it works through the life of the device. Typical life of Samsung is around a year. My friend changes around 5 or 6 phones (3 or 4 of them were Samsungs), when I used the same SE k790a. And it works fine for now. Another conclusion is to buy a flagship. Budget devices of any manufacturer always have issues. I know, all those galaxies are claimed to be top-models, flagships, bla-bla-bla. But I bet, some months of using reminds you my note about engineering experience."

It is globalization here, dude. You can buy anything you want at ebay, for example. And price won't be $1200 or something like this. If you want something you like, you should pay for that. My carrier is T-Mobile US and over years it has never had any phones I'd like to have, particularly no one SE flagship. So I bought them somewhere else. You are lucky - your carrier has X10, so take it. iPhone, as any Apple's creation, is traditionally overpriced and underdeveloped. RIM is too corporate-conservative, but has pretty good niche there. Nokia is done technologically until they wake up and forget their stoneaged Symbian, but they are budget-market monsters, you don't want them. And you forgot Motorola. From time to time they launch amazingly good devices.

I'm talking about the price I can get it unlocked here, in Uruguay, where phones, pcs, cameras and tvs cost 2x the MSRP in the US, not the ebay or amazon price. It's very different the way in wich prices drop, in the US the prices stay at the MSRP for maybe 2 months and then they get great cuts. Here, if today the GalaxyS costs $1200 then one year from now it may keep at 1000. Oh, i love customs taxes!
Good thing is that if i buy it now i can sell it in a year for about the same price i'm getting it today.
*sigh!* Enough of third world depressing stories.

Oops, I forgot about miracles of third, fourth and other worlds... It is so easy to accustom to good things and forget other realities... I know what you mean - my friends from Russia always ask me to buy something for them if they plan to go to the US. They are able to avoid taxes, when bring things with them. Post service in Russia is a complete disaster. If death could be delivered by mail, people would never die in Russia - it would be delivered after world's end or just stolen.
And bribes are always lower, than taxes. I bet you know that.
A great cosmic joke:
Went to my local Movistar decided to give the X10 another try.
Me: Hello, I'm interested in renewing my contract and i would like to see the X10 please. (in spanish and less formal of course)
Movistar Employee: no can do sir there's no stock until Jan 1st.
Me: oh cr%#p!
About the Post Service
Actually the post service here it's not bad at all, I receive books and blurays from amazon in about a week. But books, magazines, cds, dvds and blurays have no tax but everything else over $100 has $150 of tax + ~50% of the cost. So for buying something at $101 in the US I have to pay roughly $300. It's great!
I usually get my electronics in the US when someone close travels but no one is going to for a while.
What really matters
We're going off-topic here. plain and simple:
1- Is the X10 touchscreen as laggy as in YT videos or is there a way to fix it?(custom ROMs with Jit seen on YT are also affected)
2- Is it only on the home and unlock screen or also applications suffer from this? Someone said that fast games were unbearable because of the slow response.
3- Is it normal that when typing fast the device skips some tappings?
Pleeeease, I really like the X10 but i'll be stuck with it for 1-2 years and $500 will be stripped from my pocket. I know the overall experience is great but I need to have instant feedbak of what i'm doing. I'd hate to treat a supposed to be high end phone with capacitive screen like a low end one with resistive screen: press, then sloooowly move the finger to where you want, then when the object is where you want, (sure?) then release. Sense UI can do it, even in lower specs phones and even the other SE X8 and X10 mini do better.
Alright, flame me if i'm being an a$$ but i reaaally want to get an android phone and start playing with custom ROMs and be a contributing part to the community. I'll do it but someone pleeease honestly answer this questions first. The faster you answer, the faster i'll decide.

It reminds me old good Soviet time of total deficit: If you see something good, grab it first, then think if you need it.
Try Movistar's office somewhere in the middle of nowhere. I mean in low income areas - they still can have some expensive gadgets at shelves. Come on, I remember those tricks, but you use them in everyday life, like a gift for the salesman or just palms oiling.

I have a good news for you - buy your lovely X10 in parts that cheaper, than $100 and assemble them home. You'll proudly can have a sticker on it - "Hand made". It is a little complicated and risky, but you can ask your seller to claim that this device is out of order, for parts and cost less, than $100. And, of course, with two separate transactions.

Never experienced this, but once the touchscreen overreacted at any touch and made some crazy things. I turned the phone off and after reboot it never happen again. Some lags can be in browser, but I think, it is not because of touchscreen, but partially downloaded pages. Same problem can be in YT videos since they are real time streams.

I mentioned already overreaction - just before it went completely crazy, there was double and tripple typing errors. I tapped once, but it produced two or three taps - letters or backspaces. It was once and it doesn't look like regular specifically X10 problem. Out of extreems - maybe I type slow at the phone, but it works fine for me.
I tried my friend's LG enV Touch VX11000 - I hate it - requires hard press and pretty laggy. I had iPhone - it works almost the same for me as X10 - fast reaction of touchscreen and interface both.

As you mention, every member of Xperia family works different, so I assume, that those differences are from the actual set of running programs and services. If you are going to play with custom ROMs, you always can modify your phone for faster work or for fancier view. I think, the X10 is the best hardware guinea pig for those purposes especially after the bootloader cracking.

Yes I experience it sometime when I haven't release my first finger but already press another key on the keyboard. But I think it will resolve when MT driver come to Rachael. ^_^
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
There's no lag for me at all. But I use Startup Auditor and Advance Task killer when I first boot or reboot my X10. It's too fast that sometimes when I am slow to type, it will type two of the same letter before i can lift my finger on the keys...
My X10 doesn't lagg, it's fast. With and without JIT.
But with the snow live wallaper it laggs sometime on the homescreen, maybe because of Launcher Pro Plus...
But owners of the Desire posted the same I think.

tg01 has near same hd2 specs, has a good resistiv 4,1" lcd. here is often the problem, devices around 100euro has scratches on PLASTIC screen. for 150 - 180 you can get a well-kept device and this is worth. with a good modified custom ROM is a good and fast WinMo device. ROM flashing is very quick and easy- this make a great fun.
you have a grat choice of different ROMs and Radios .i would buy it again (i have actuall 3x tg01, 1x very used, 1x good and 1x exellent)

i saw rom flashing.. damn that's simple, no hspl's and ****, like good old omnia i had before hd2. but this is pretty brickable right? i mean flashing hd2 with corrupted(or even empty-task29)rom results only stuck boot(and reflash as concequence)

yes it is so easy! iiit is simply dumping the ROM on the sd card, then click on an exe to flash!
there are loads of great roms on the forum too to suit your needs.

hey everyone
i've got chance to trade my htc diamond for tg01 but i sold it before(it was brand new) so i've got cash now. i see prices here around like 100euro for used tg01's so i wish to know if it's worth buyin it.
i'm usually hd2 guy(using it 1,5 year) so how do these devices compare(seeing pretty close specs). would you buy it again if you have choice?
hoping to hear first-hand
thanks

An excellent device in nearly all respects. As indicated above, is easy to flash and has opened up all sorts of opportunities for development both large and small.
Good resistive screen - one key reason I went for the TG01 - enables handwriting recognition and detailed pointing with the stylus when you want it, but also pretty sensitive for finger touch also when preferred (trick is setting screen sensitivity in registry, either manually to taste or via a generic .cab). Best of both worlds really, while the now almost ubiquitous capacitive screen is of course incapable of screen writing.
Main regrets are:
- Lack of a 3.5mm audio jack, but a suitable dongle works OK in the uUSB port
- Inability to charge while using the USB port for audio out
But both of these can be addressed by using a Bluetooth headset adapter, thus freeing the uUSB port for connection to an external device (eg. charging or perhaps an external hard drive, memory stick, etc.)
Definitely a very respectable piece of kit which continues to have significant potential
Best regards,
Kevin

Hi xda-Members,
I have a simple question:
Is the Cube U9GT-2 compatible with CyanogenMod?
I've got Gingerbread on my tablet, but I'm not really satisfied with this OS, maybe because it's developed for smartphones and not tablets.
Greets Meldamos
Hi.
Unfortunately I cannot help with your question. All I know is that some people are experimentinig with ICS (Android 4.0) on the U9GT-2, and there is a beta firmware for it if you would like to give it a try.
I am also thinking of buying one of these tablets. I found it for 230 Euros (=290 USD, =190 GBP). I was just about to press the "Add to cart" button when I saw your post.
What do you thing about this tablet? Do you have it long? Are you happy?
Also can you please PM me with the information of where you bought it from and if you were happy with the transaction (if it was an online buy)?
Thanks
Little review of U9GT-2
Well I have this tablet for 2-3 Weeks now and I don't regret it. I bought this tablet over an online-shop called cect-shop, because the support is in german and it has a warranty of 1 year. And there it costs 200€ with 25€ express shipment (there in 3 days from china to germany ^^) and 25€ toll. All in all I paid around 250€, much cheaper than here in germany where it starts at 350€ up to 700€ and not almost on a level of the capacity this tablet has. By the way if you ask cect-shop, they'll send you a stylus pen with your tablet for free.
The tablet uses Android 2.3 with Honeycomb style, not bad but could be better. The OS seems not to be build for battery saving, because the power runs of after 2-3 days in standby.
I asked the manufacturer about ICS and got the answer that they're working on it, but still need time to finish the compatibility with U9GT-2. They'll publish it on their homepage I think.
On the look it get often mistaken with an Apple iPad but it's not exactly like one. The capacitive display works fine, it discerns up to 10 fingers but you are not using 10 finger actually ^^
The sound is pretty good I think, even if I don't really know how the standard quality of tablets are. The big trouble is like I said the OS. But it's a thing you can change and does not affect the quality of this tablet.
If anyone has precise questions feel free to ask. I'm not good at writing a review.
Thanks for the valuable info.
Few questions more if you are kind enough:
1. Can you confirm the manufacturer's site? I have found one web address in China and never managed to connect
2. Can you confirm the thickness of it? Is it realy less than 10mm? Does it actually feel like an i-pad when you are carrying it around?
3. The material on the back side is it realy aluminium?
4. I have noticed that on different sites they give slightly different specs from cect.Ie pandawill gives a CPU of 1Ghz, thickness of 7mm and battery capacity 8000mAh, though cect gives 1.2Ghz, 9.7mm and 7600MAh. This is a problem with the Chinese sites / products / clones I guess... Nevertheless, since you are in Germany, you must have heard or seen an Easypix Easypad, have you? I am between the cube and the Easypad 970 (at easypix.eu). They look very similar. Do you have any personal feedback on that ?
5. Finally, does the screen look and feel like being IPS or not?
Sorry if I bother you too much, but it's the first time I buy a gadget withut actually testing or seeing one, so I am a bit concerned. Thanks

Okay let's start:
1. Yes the manufacturer is available. There are also 2 supporter for questions available via skype. They're on workdays online so you can ask them directly. But there english seems not to be very good so better you keep your questions simple
2. I measured it now, I don't warrant than my results are exactly but they're 243mm x 190mm x 10,5mm (length x width x height). I have never had an iPad (too expensive for a tablet) but it feel very comfortable if I carry it around and it's not very heavy. I don't have a balance here but I think it's around 500-700 gram. Well it doesn't feel heavy for me that's all I can say actually.
3. YES it is aluminium and what a luck it is, because on the 3. day it got pushed against a aluminium pole and has only a really small dent left. A plastic hull would have cracked I think.
4. Don't look at the GHZ, many sellers push or fake them, maybe caused by stupidness or advertising. The U9GT-2 has a Rockchip 2918 CPU. Look for the specs on google. The battery is an advertising medium. I doesn't has 8000 mhA or even 7600 mhA. I has 2 x 4000 mhA batteries but they just sum them what they shouldn't do. Like I said the OS is not optimized for tablets and it really takes too much power in stand by. When playing you don't recognize the power loss. I played 3 hours a game called "deadly dungeon" (a dungeon crawler) and the battery has got from 63% to 49%. Well I've not saw the easypad, but they're exactly the same. They've got the same capacities and even the same OS. Throw a dice from 1-3 easypad and from 4-6 U9GT-2, that would be my solution ^^... Well I don't know if easypix is working on a ICS for easypad, just know that cube is working on it.
5. Well I don't know what you understand of a "feeling" for IPS. It looks like a monitor how you see it everywhere today. Don't know if you still have a cathode ray tube (I have one), but there is a difference. Of course, the games are sucking because they're not build for 9,7" displays . Some games are smoother with the resizing, others are bad. But the quality of the display is very good. Of course, not standard on notebooks over 15,6" (which I prefer) but for 9,7" it's high resolution.
Hope my answer could help you and other people who struggle on buying a china-tablet
PS: I've got many friends who look suspect at the tablet, like it could break every second, and I'm just smiling and laughing about their prejudices.
Fantastic answers.
Thank you very much for your effort.
I will follow your advice with the dice after the holidays
Happy Christmas

STOP!!! xD... Hope you did not buy it.
Forgot to mention that the EasyPad 970 can only use 8GB Flash HDD. U9GT-2 use 16GB! You get the double storage for the same price.
Sorry for my late answer, did not recognize the difference in the first place.
Sh*t. I bought one a few days ago
I generally know what NAND flash is, but not sure about its' importance. Mine still says 5.9 Gb free, after fully loaded with apps (I know they've got nothing to do with the NAND, but I can't seem to find a way how to run out of space in NAND). In any case, it is better to have double the capacity with the same cost, no matter what.
By the way, that NAND is some soldered microchip, or it can be a micro SD card on the motherboard so that it can "easily" be upgraded in the future if the need arises?
Nevertheless, I am happy with the tablet. Already rooted and experimenting. A couple of snags though, but I will find my way around them hopefully.
By the way, is there a way to hard - reset the tablet by hardware (since there is not a pin-hole or something)? Any combination of buttons pressed during power on?
The internal flash memory is installed in form of chips. Two in the Cube, as can be seen at tabletrepublic.com/forum/android-tablet-reviews/disassembling-cube-u9gt2-414.html, presumably one in the easypad. Apparently the 8GB of the easypad are partitioned in 0,5GB for apps and the rest for data while the 16GB in the Cube are partioned in 1GB for apps and the rest for data. I have read that by installing the cube firmware on the easypad 970, one can get 1 GB for apps, too. Personally, I think 8GB internally is plenty because media files (movies etc.) usually are stored on external SDHC cards anyway for fast swapping.
My 2 cents...
I recently bought one while I was in Beijing on holiday and was really amazed with the battery life with Android 2.3, considering I was streaming movies non-stop for 14 hours straight (in comparison with and iPad 2). The multi-touch keyboard sometimes has a lag although most the UI seems to be relatively smooth.
The camera located at the back also took decent pictures during day and night.
Overall this is a neat unit under $350.00 AUD considering most other units requiring a stylus or long fingernails to operate. I will be looking at rooting the device in a few weeks after I do a bit more research.
Let me know if you have modded your unit and your thoughts.
Thanks
Cube U9GT2 USB host controller issues
Hello everyone,
I'm hoping to solve a problem here, I just purchased a Cube U9GT2 Tablet 9.7
running: Android ICS 4.0.3 with a Kernel Version:3.0.8+.
With a build number: rk29sdk-eng4.03 IML74K eng-yangyun.20120108.124417 test-keys.
It came with an OTG/USB Cable and has both a USB and a USB/OTG port.
Let me just state this, I have tested all cables, ports and jump drives and have reformatted them to fat32, they were Fat32 also.
The problem I'm having is ICS can't see any jump drives I hook up to it. I installed a program from the Market called, USB Host Ctrlr. It ran a info check after install, and here is what it said:USB Host Controller Version Number:0.42 S3C USB Host Driver NOT Found! Root Hub Present. USB Host Mode is active.
I'm no developer or even a decent novas, but with decent instructions I can execute. Any ideas how to fix this, The price was Killer, when one is buying from a Chinese Company, the support is pretty limiting when you only speak English.
That's why the great price, I'm not complaining, I just want to get this resolved if possible.
In regards to the Tablet, I really like it a lot! pretty fast, smooth interface, easy to navigate, decent keyboard, (but I'm use to a smartphone).
It plays movies very nice, screen is plenty bright, It can use a Micro-sd card up to 32 gigs. Have not had any crashes yet, had it about 2 weeks. They have raised the prices about $13.00 I had to try one at that price, plus shipping was Free! I ordered it late on a Sunday night in USA, got it in 3 days DHL shipping, Hard to beat. Anyhow if anyone can help here, it sure be very appreciated. I would even be willing to pay something if reasonable.
If anyone is interested i can provide brand new AUTHENTIC CUBE U9GT2 at the price of euro 240.00.
The price include express shipping to all around the world (4-5 business days).
I am sending from European country so residents of EU will not pay additional taxes or VAT !!!
Let me know.

Hi New on here. Just ordered a 32 gb 8 core (octa core?) version of the S4 online and it includes extra battery, 32 micro sim, leather case, apparently to be delivered in original packing. How do I check if its original? I see some online videos on back covers (samsung logo, missing Galaxy S4 on bottom) but that back cover is removable. Samsung apps? Or is it just a gamble to buy from unknown sources cause inner parts could be replaced off original phones?
What site did you get it from? You could always check reviews for the site itself to see if people have been burned before. What did you pay for it? If it seems like too good a deal to be true that could be a big red flag because it probably is too good to be true.

Taobao (China's ebay) and the seller sold 400+ within the last month with great reviews. Paid totally $350 usd (2200 rmb) and thats a steal considering the price here is over twice that amount amd they all selling 16 gb 4 core S4's. well, still didnt pay cause its pay on delivery but I expect it anytime soon.
So essentially my deal is I have 7 days for a no hassle return. I'm shocked thats there's talk of fake S4 so soon into the release of this phone amd this just goes to show how efficient the copycats are.
I still havent seen the phone but I'm assuming its hard to tell the difference just from outside looks. Even the video on youtube ... The display in the fake looks just as amazing and the screen apps look the same 100% as the original. There's got to be a way that android would have some authentication to state that this is indeed an S4?
Maybe I'm being paranoid but what if internal components have been replaced (they fetch higher profit margins)....any diagnostic software you download amd run? Like a benchmark test....obviously a fake cant compete with benchmark scores.....

Dude, yes dude, you paid half retail of the hottest phone on the market. You DEFINITELY bought a fake. There is no way in HADES that someone could sell a 32gb Octa-core S4 for $325 and make a profit. I would return it asap or better yet, just deny delivery (if that works where you are)
It's a Chinese replica. Type in galaxy 4 replica in youtube
Sent from my Galaxy S4.
Just received it and its a FAKE! The Samsung logo in the back is 'rough' and there's no 'Galaxy S4' logo on the bottom of back cover. Shipped with two batteries and turning it on had no welcome screen and the apps had no samsung apps. Disappointed yet amazed at the build quality.
Well is it usable? I mean functional lol
Sent from my Galaxy S4.
Its functional for sure
Yep! This fake phone is functional running 4.2.2 android. Apparently its should total space as exactly 16 gb. Shouldnt this be slightly lesser since the OS would need some space? All in all very wierd but functional. I've not played around much cause I want to return this and hopefully get me an original.
Are you sure they will let you return it?

Fake S4
HI, I unknowingly bought a fake too, here's a lsit of things to check;
Plastic screen
Not Amoled
Not HD (Have compared the screen to my s2 using video)
Screen is the same size as the s3
Borders around the screen are thicker
The button at the front middle is lw- it should be exactly halfway between the screens edge and the bottom of the phone.
Benchmarks around half the score of the real s4- although this can be faked (the 3d results were good- but 3d games dont seem to load)
The earpice speaker isn't a good fit for the slot in the phone, and is squint
The word samsung on the back is proud of the case, and a different font
The s4 markings are not on the bottom of the case, and samsung isnt printed below the earpiece.
THe batteries are very slim, and dont fit the real s4
the box says octa core- but the phone is the i9500
The metallic border is a different colour from the original
The phone has 2gig internal memory-- the free sd card is to trick you into thinking it is a bigger capacity, I assume the original phone has 16gig internal plus expandable slot.
The OS seems laggy, and is buggy
The settings are incomplete for the s4, only basic settings included.
Also my understanding of it is that the phone cant be rooted or modded- it will already have a modded chinese bootloader which would be hard to change, and none of the usual s4 roms would work (forgive my noob use of technical terms).
I bought mine from MANCEBA1998 (Gloria Mfwenbundo, 102 DULVERTON aVE, NG86EA) on ebay, as a real phone, i was stupid/ whatever. I got in touch with ebay and started a claim, she responded, saying she thought the phone was real as far as she is concerned, then ignored my emails for 2 days- I checked her other listings- and found a second s4 for sale, I could tell from the picture it was fake- so I told ebay and had the listing removed. She responded within a few hours with offers of a refund if I pay to send the phone back... I told her to get stuffed, send me my money- if she sends me postage she will get this fake phone back or i'll report her to her local trading standards...
Will see what happens- the point is, ebay have a case system where you can deal with refunds for not as described goods, and they frown on fake stuff. If the phone was listed as real then you will get your money back, but do so ASAP

Ebay buyer protection should give you a return shipping label if you open a case.
Resolution
I know it's an old post, but I want to start a thread, so I thought I might as well post here as anywhere else.
It all went according to plan, ebay sent a label to return, so I got my refund, then sent the dodgy phone back. Case closed. Cheers
