So I've been having a gmail sync issue for a few days now, don't know why. I'm running rooted stock with the black gloss theme. When I connect to WiFi I get gmail no problem butover tmo data I have to manually sync it. I did the clear data thing, same issue.
I see this too. Don't know if there is a workaround but it does seem strange that it acts this way. What if you don't have WiFi?
The thing that bothers me even more is the GMail doesn't allow you to Copy text??? This is weird considering Google made both GMail and Android. I understand that issue will be resolved with Froyo though.
Let us know if anyone knows how to allow for the updating of Gmail without WiFi.
I have a similar problem. My Gmail will sync randomly on 3g and syncs perfectly fine on wifi.
I have no problem getting or sending email, but if i change the "label" and move it to another folder, it will only move it on my phone, if i go to gmail on the computer the stuff will still be in my inbox.

I got my phone to repairs because of a broken touchscreen.. Nicely done by HTC, they came to pick it up and returned a new unit a week later. Very good service...
However, now there's something strange going on.. I've reconfigured the Exchange mobile sync part with OWA server and all. Now everything (Mail and Contacts) is synchronizing nicely, except my Calendar??
When Calendar is being synced, you can see it tries 3 times and then a "cannot connect to server" error.. This seems odd, because for contacts and mail it connects perfectly to the exact same server...
I tried to configure it on 2 firmware versions, the original and the rooted Modaco rom, no change.
Is there some logging going on where I maybe can pinpoint the problem??
Out of the blue it works again
Running Cronos 1.80 with GB 2.3.3 on it
At random intervals the exchange sync will just stop working. No error messages just no email. This problem occurs both on wifi and normal data. I tried killing the email program in task manager, manually starting the sync, changed the settings on the account from push to polling and back. Nothing worked. Rebooted the phone and everything starts syncing again. Data works fine for other apps too when this is happening so it is an issue with mail only.
I used to get this issue with the non gingerbred cronos ROMs occasionally - maybe once every couple weeks. But now it is happening a couple times a day. Annoying when you don't get an error message you just think you haven't gotten any email. Thinking about just going back to Froyo as it didn't seem to have this issue unless someone can recommend a solution.
Hey.
I also noticed the exact same issue.
But i am on an desire with 2.3.4 (GingerVillian 2.4).
To me it happens every couple of days.
I have to reboot my phone to get it working again
Is there a solution out there?
thx

I'm using Corporate Sync for my work email, coming from an Exchange Server (2003 I think). I can set it up, connect and sync fine for 1-5 days, then I get a connection error and the only way to resolve is to remove the account and add it back in.
Things I have tried:
-upper and lower case for domain name (have read some places that think it is case sensitive)
-checking and unchecking the "verify certificates" box
-factory data reset
-clearing the email app data (from Manage Applications) after I remove the account, before I add it back in
I know there are other people at my company that use Android and iOS devices and they do no have this issue, but no one else that has an Atrix.
Any thoughts? I'm rooted and about to jump on a ROM if there is a sliver of chance GB might help out, but I need my email and calendar to be up to date for work (part job requirement, part me being a little OCD).
Thanks.
Hey guys,
I wonder if any of you has the same issue as me.. Basically, when phone is connected via WiFi it barely syncs Gmail/Facebook twice a day, I can go for hours without seeing a new email notification on the phone.. When it's on Data/3G it syncs properly and I'm getting a notification as soon as the email comes in.. I've checked everything on the phone, and I can't seem to find anything which would explain this behavior.. Currently I had to set Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep to never in order to have sync working properly when I'm at home..
Btw. stock ROM, haven't touched anything since I've purchased it.
Any ideas?

Do you notice any other internet connection irregularities when on wifi? e.g. after a deep sleep if you try the browser it fails to load the page straight away and takes a refresh?
No, after I wake up the phone when it's on wifi during sleep - internet works fine.. Ie. I can load websites in the browser, open up Google Play, lookup Imdb from the application etc. Everything is working fine apart from the phone syncing my mails and everything else while it's on Wifi/Sleeping. Checking the last time it synced in Settings >> Accounts and sync also shows that it synced last time hours ago (it didn't even try to sync while it's on wifi).
Can someone please test this if it happens on other phones as well?
Hi, for years now (and on many different phones and Android OS versions), I've run into a reoccurring issue in the Gmail app: now and again, a batch of messages I've told the app to send will get stuck in the Outbox as "Sending" and won't ever send, even after I've rebooted the phone, cleared the cache, insured the phone is online, etc... This only seems to happen when there's some sort of an internet connection issue, but I haven't been able to figure out if it's associated with one particular thing: airplane mode, being out of connection range, having auto-sync or background data turned off, etc... Does anyone know what triggers this behavior? If it was caused by being in one particular state, I'd just avoid sending email while in that state.
Thanks, Alan
Ugh!!!! Was hoping the 4.2 update might have fixed this, but no luck. Has Google even acknowledged this issue yet? It's MADDENING!
