UPDATE 10/20/10 @ 7:44pm CST: I received a reply from T-Mobile's PR agency Waggener Edstrom Worldwide. Not only was it exceptionally vague, but it didn't even address my topic regarding Bluez, nor did the spokesperson tell us anything that we didn't know already. Overall it was extremely disappointing. It reads:
Thanks for your e-mail to T-Mobile Media Relations. Per your inquiry regarding the myTouch 3G MR, please see our statement below for you to share with the XDA-Developers forum community.
Starting on Tuesday, October 13th, T-Mobile customers using the original T-Mobile myTouch 3G began receiving Android 2.2 operating system (Froyo) providing a number of benefits, including a new or enhanced home screen experience and improved Exchange e-mail integration, as well as the addition of T-Mobile’s Faves Gallery. The software upgrade is being sent to customers in waves and the roll out of the new software will continue through October 31st.
This upgrade is only for customers using the original myTouch. At a later date, we plan to provide Froyo to customers using the updated myTouch 3G (which can be distinguished by the 3.5mm headset jack), the myTouch 3G Fender Limited Edition, and the T-Mobile myTouch Slide.
myTouch customers can learn more about the current Froyo upgrade at: http://bit.ly/ap5GKL

It seems that the email I sent was not the right place to talk to since they aren't even T-Mobile, nor do they seem very interested in preserving their client's image - the image that is slowly deteriorating because of the lack of support T-Mobile provides in a timely fashion. GG.
UPDATE 10/19/10 @ 8:27pm CST: It has been nearly a month since I sent the letter and I have received no reply. Consequently I sent an email to the T-Mobile Public Relations inbox. Here's the email:
UPDATE 9/22/10 @ 5:45pm CST: the letter was picked up by the mailman on Monday, Sept 20th.

I'm pretty sure HTC knows how we feel and doesn't give a ****.
What we need is for the WORLD to know how WE feel and then put a skeptical eye on HTC to see what they do...that's the only way HTC will do the right thing. They already knew how we would feel, they certainly know how we do feel...and I doubt they care.
But if we take this to the biggest stages we can find and get a wider audience to hear what is going on then HTC has to respond on to the wider audience....which they will care about. They have already demonstrated they don't care about our tiny little corner of the internet.
1.) I e-mailed Android Central to follow this. I expected they would already, but I guess they are scared to death of losing out on any industry freebies and hookups they may have. Others should follow suit and get them to follow this
2.) Everybody submit this to Slashdot.org as well. a Huge readership over there that would care about our plight. Don't just submit the 'why' we are upset but links to tweets, message boards and htc's facebook to show the how upset we are and how many of us there are.
3.) Any other media outlet that may care. Try to keep from getting too 'nerdy', don't get into crypto-signed bootloader talk....just say "encrypted the phone so we can't install whatever software we want"
4.) Bomb Google searches, make a trend. Same for twitter.
5.) Be tasteful and grownup. Don't hurl insults, don't just bomb someones email, don't DDOS. Just spread our plight to a larger audience and then HTC has to answer to EVERYONE (not just us) with their actions....as opposed to what they will answer just us with--inaction.
Off to Facebook.....

---------- Post added at 09:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:46 AM ----------
I posted this.
It appears to me that HTC may be exiting the tablet market. They have never delivered on the promised Android update from Gingerbread to Honeycomb for the Flyer / View and the Jetstream is not competitively priced. Additionally no announcements or marketing in place for the holiday sales pitch coming up would appear to leave HTC in a bad position.
HTC are you competing and supporting your customers or dumping us????

Maybe, but a good place to put your message don't you think? I am not looking for support, I want their sales team know that they are not selling hardware, tablet is a complete package. I also want future customers know the facts. Hurting sales is the only way to teach a lesson.
Yes I guess you are right. Just have a bad feeling about this. Reminds me of my HTC Hero.

THIS IS BULL **** MAN.....i can't even express how unfair this is. HTC originally said it would be included with HC and then MONTHHHSSS later they still don't offer it to us? They promised it to us, but something tells me they forgot about us and just said screw it.
I only buy HTC products, but this customer support is unfair. This product has been out for months now and still nothing, not even a reminder saying "were working on it". They keep giving us old OS, right when (IF) we ever finally do get HC, Icecream will already be out on tablets once again giving us an OLD OS.
Would someone please explain the point of this? ICS was announced last week and is obviously superior to HC. Why are you complaining about not getting HC now? I can understand if you're complaining because you don't expect any updates, but ICS is obviously the upgrade path Google wants everything with Gingerbread to go with. By the look of things, it appears that HTC was working on HC then stopped when they got word that ICS was coming very soon.

You were wondering about a software upgrade for your HTC EVO View 4G. I would be more than happy to assist you with this software inquiry. Unfortunately, I do not have any information about the release of the Honeycomb upgrade for your Android tablet. I would recommend you keep an eye on the HTC regional website at www.htc.com/US under the Home tab for further developments.

I'm sorry to be blunt , but you really need to read the threads here more and understand how the Android update process works. Google does not release or control updates for any device, none, zero, nada. Maybe in the future since they now own Motorola, they will control Motorola releases, but currently no, so ICS updates are not coming soon to a device near you. When Google announces any given version of Android it runs on exactly nothing at that point and a lot of work remains with each hardware vendor to make it work on each devices.

Here’s my first email to them
"Being the owner of several HTC Phones and enjoying their build quality, I recently purchased a HTC Flyer, thinking it would (as promised) get updated to Honeycomb.
Now, some web sites are reporting the flyer will not be updated.
I am now approaching my 30 day return window, so my question is, do I need to return my Flyer and buy something like the Samsung?
I really like HTC products but, I do want a device that (as promised) will get updated.
Gary"
I got the same reply as you. I then sent them this
"Thank you for your quick reply. As you know the official announcement was on Feb 11, 8 months ago saying the update to Honeycomb would be coming soon. The Flyer is approuching 1 year old and still no update. It seems like I may have to return my flyer and try another product. Thanks, Gary"
I got this back
"Gary, We very much appreciate your loyalty to HTC and understand how it can be frustrating awaiting announced updates, especially when they take longer than anticipated to come out. We ask for your patience as the update is being developed and tested for your device. Thank you again!"

ICS is long way off. I don't expect HTC to release ICS update. Most likely the combination of cyanogenmod + some talented developer will give us ICS.
People fail to realize that Android and iOS are completely different animals.
iOS is made for very small set of hardware (for e.g. iOS supports iPHone 3G, 3GS, 4,4S, iPad and iPad2 hardware only) and hence it is a complete product. Hardware/Software/Apps and middleware (drivers etc) work together to deliver a consistent experience - Apple ensures that.
In Android world - google creates one version of OS with basic set of apps and middleware (drivers etc). It relies on companies to to create software and drivers compatible with the OS and developers to create apps compatible with OS - not an easy task with multiple vendors/hardware combinations.
In a sense Google has been shooting itself in foot with so many versions Froyo, GB, HC and ICS within last 2 years. I will not be surprised if companies stop supporting Google because they are tired of providing all this support. Supporting an OS update takes months of hard work. Add carrier specific releases to that and you begin to understand what a big mess all this is.
ICS is a first step by Google in right direction. Now we will have a single Android OS for phones & tablets with patch releases in future. This will bring stability to Android platform and to its vendors. In my opinion there should never have been HC and GB out at all. It should just have been HC that supported both phones and tablets.

Yeah. I have added my $0.02.
I hope there will be an update release because honeycomb 3.1 is not optimized 100% for this hardware and device. So HTC please update Jetstream to 3.2 or ICS. 3.2fully support qualcomm dualcore processors and memory controllers. 3.1 is kill this device and hardware.
Thanks

Dear Chris,
Thank you for your feedback it is very important to us. I understand your frustration in regards to wanting android 4.0 on your device. I wish I could provide you with more info but we simply do not have it. We were given a list of what devices that would be getting the update. The Jetstream was not on that list. This does not mean it will not get it, we just don't have any information on it at this time. A real shame!
I can honestly say that I admire the devotion you guys have for your Jetstream. Sometimes you just have to face reality though, HTC has abandoned this tablet. The HTC Flyer which is a cheaper, older, less powerful tablet gets an official announcement of ICS upgrade before a more expensive and more powerful tablet, that's saying something. If you guys got to the dev section and read pages 15-17 of the [ROM]<==Galaxy Task v3==>(3-17) AT&T Jetstream topic is should give you an idea where on HTC radar this tablet is. This is not a Flagship device for HTC because it has done so poorly in sales, even task650 who is a recognized developer who has made the HTC Jetstream the best it can be agrees with all of this. I remain somewhat hopeful that HTC will release ICS for this tablet but I don't expect it to be anywhere close to Q3 2012 or even Q4 2012 which is a shame because hardware wise this tablet is a beast. HTC rushed this tablet to compete with Apple/Samsung and left the software full of bugs and not optimized for the hardware.
If you guys hear back from AT&T or HTC please post results. Maybe the right amount of nagging will push HTC to be loyal to their customers.
**Fingers Crossed**
Dear Jordan,
Thank you for contacting HTC, Jordan.
I can understand how important it is to have the latest updates for both your phone and your tablet alike. There has been much speculation over the availability to update tablets to Ice Cream Sandwich. Word on the street is that ICS will be a phone based update and that tablets around the globe will get their own strain of software. Can this be confirmed? Absolutely not. Is this just talk around the water cooler? Absolutely.
The chances of seeing your tablet being updated to ICS are probably better than seeing this rogue update appear in the limelight. Seeing as we here in technical support are not privy to such information I cannot confirm nor deny anything. And as you have stated we certainly don't decide the who's and what's in the world of software updates. What I will be happy to do is forward your request/comment to our developers. We take all suggestions seriously and use this information when researching possible improvements or updates for our devices.
I would recommend staying up to date on all things ICS by following us on Twitter and Facebook as these sites are updated daily with the latest news.
I thank you for taking the time to forward your comments to us. It is always helpful to have customer input, positive or negative. If you need anything else Jordan do not hesitate to contact me again by email.

Sad to hear that.
I was thinking of asking all users here to bombard HTC and AT&T with a request asking for some release details about future details of upgrade/possibility of ICS. If probably many of us were to email them/contact them, may be just may be it may reach higher up in the organisation and help us see ICS soon.
Anyone up for this plan?
Perhaps we could fix a particular date when the message has spread to send the emails, then volume load on HTC and AT&T would definately be higher.

Is all BS if they were going to send the update why did they put it "under development" for months?

Of course they did. I thought it was somewhat obvious that if the Atrix changed its update status as would the Photon. We need not focus on our phone. If Atrix gets it, we will too, bottom line. So we need to help our brothers over there in whatever way we can as it will benefit us all. Don't lose hope, our efforts are making a difference. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31943331

It says the same thing for the atrix though. I guess we can only hope.
And this phone is screwing with me. I'm late for class because this phone thinks its funny randomly rebooting and staying at the moto screen over night -_-

I am wondering how many photons are out there? A couple thousand I assume.
But, the worst part is that I fell they have been playing us all a long. Between Sprint and Motorola.
Sprint know that this phone has problems, they just won't acknowledge it. And sending an update to lock the device even more, I have never seem anything like that. Ever.
Motorola is clearing stock of Photon 4G on their website with free car dock @$349 without contract...
It seems like we have been fooled by the lollipop of ics so that we retain Photon 4G and not move to other phone or operator till Photon Q is released... :banghead:
If so this will be my last motorola phone ever... If not then simply they are wasting their time in locking bootloader or with other security coding...
Funniest mobile phone company I've ever seen.

Well this is it!!

Photon.... makes me mad
It makes me disgusted with the lack of support form Motorola. With all the Droid updates on verizon and no support for the Photon on Sprint seems like we're less than an after thought. I upgraded from an original EVO and the support for that was at least bearable. As far as rooting with the Photon unlocking the bootloader kills 4G Wimax. If I'm going to lose that might as well use an upgrade and ditch the Photon.
This is definitely my last moto phone!

i'm not hopeful about that but i think they are planning jump to jb directly.
droid 3 is a 2011 phone but status is: "Will remain on Gingerbread (Android 2.3)"
photon also is a 2011 phone but our status isn't certain like droid 3's status.
I'm not taking any bets either, but I think they will skip ICS and go to JB.
This will most likely be my last Moto phone.. I went from the Original Evo to the photon because I liked the build quality of Motorola phones. Friend of mine had a droid x and it seemed very well built. My photon has not had any of the build issues that my Evo did but i have been less than happy with the locked bootloader and lack of support on Motorola's part I assumed that when google bought out Motorola mobility we would be getting updates on par or faster than other manufacturers Guess that was a fools dream. Another reason i bought this phone was because i bought a xoom when they came out and was impressed with the tegra 2 and the quality of the xoom. My son has the original transformer and while it is thinner than the xoom, it feels kinda cheap and has some bright spots on the screen. xoom has had none of the issues of the transformer besides my 4 year old putting a small dent in the aluminum backing a couple weeks after i purchased it. I would love to dump this phone but since Sprint changed their upgrade policy i'm stuck with it for another year instead of being able to upgrade every year like I used to be able to. Was unlocked for a good while and enjoyed the ICS ports but got tired of sprints SOOOOO slow 3g and preferred the ability of having 4g when i want it. At this point i wish Motorola would just leak their build if they have one and let the devs here do the rest. They are pretty much there but without proper driver libs we are pretty much screwed. Becoming pretty annoyed with Motorola and SPRINT as a whole. Phone bill keeps going up and as far as i can tell just about every carrier in my area has faster data speeds. I was pretty pissed the other day when a coworker with an EVO flashed to cricket was able to access the internet in a building we were working in and i was stuck ROAMING.
Punit Soni said that "Further plans coming soon" means they are still trying to figure out whether they are going to update that particular phone or not. So we as a community need to tell him that we need ice cream sandwich on our phones. whether it is because of lag or any other problems nwe need to convince him and Motorola to update our phones.

Hmm. wonder what factors they consider? How many users there are? Whether we are likely to upgrade within the motorola family of products? Presumably, how hard it is to do, but that's certainly not anythingwe can influence.

It looks like the photon/Atrix ate the only phones in this status. The jump from jb from ics it's not nearly as large as the jump from gb to ics so I do consider this as an option. The photon is also listed as one of the devices that they promised jb updates to just last month. I'm hopeful but we're still playing the waiting game.

No photon ics????
I just find out about the new "Further plans coming soon" status on the ICS photon, so I decided to contact Motorola about this, and this is how it went: (please keep in mind that English is not my first language, so the whole time I was trying to be as polite as you can be when you are this frustrated and the language barrier is not helping)
Denz: Hi, my name is Denz. How may I help you?
John Santiago: I just find out that you guys change the photon ics status to "Further plans coming soon" what does that mean????????
Denz: Let me check my resources first. One moment, please.
Denz: While checking for the information, please provide the serial number: Go to Settings, About Phone, Status, get the MEID.
John Santiago: deleted meid
Denz: Thanks. Be right back. Please bear with me.
Denz: As I have checked, at the moment, we do not have any information as to when the next update will become available or if ICS will be available for Photon. Motorola is a company committed to quality in all the steps of the this process We want to ensure that this upgrade will comply with Motorola quality standards before we officially release ICS for our phones. We will keep you posted.
John Santiago: that's it????
Denz: Please refer to this link for future ICS updates:

John Santiago: bionic???????? I'm talking about the Photon 4g not the bionic
Denz: Sorry. I meant photon.
Denz: Kindly wait for future ICS announcements. Okay.
Denz: Anything else you need assistance with?
John Santiago: Is this how Motorola plans to keep happy costumers
Denz: We understand how you feel. We open a record for all consumer contacts which are then routed to the proper department for any further research. We thank you for providing your feedback and for bringing it to our attention. It is through feedback like yours that we are able to keep on finding solutions to improve our products. We just donut have any information right now.
John Santiago: Thanks for nothing Motorola "NEVER AGAIN"
Denz: If you need any more information get in touch. Thanks from Motorola, bye!
Denz has disconnected.
I know there's more people talking about this on this forums and I apologize if my post is just one more annoying new member talking nuts but I feel like I've been lied to and I'm pissed about it.
I only have one more thing to say "MOTOROLA NEVER AGAIN"
Never say never, but at least not in the upcoming year.
What I don't understand is why people are bothering customer service reps about this. You aren't going to get a straight answer from them because they probably know just as much as you do. Its not fair to them.

Hello Phil
We have an important update about your order. Due to shipping issues with the 32G unlocked and 64G Developers Editions of the New HTC One®, there will be a slight delay in shipping your HTC One® to you. We expect to have your phone delivered to you, via overnight shipping, before the end of April. We’ll do everything we can to get it shipped to you as soon as possible.
Also, due to overwhelming demand, there will be a delay in shipping your free case. We expect to begin receiving the Double Dip cases in mid-May, and will ship them as soon as they’re available.
We understand the excitement and anticipation that comes with a new phone, and we are confident that the HTC One® will exceed that anticipation
Thanks for the support,
HTC ShopAmerica

Well damn that sucks, i guess the the only phone they have available on release date is the silver one.
Quick question about the Dev edition, besides it being unlocked from the factory I am correct in assuming that software updates will be faster as not restricted by the carrier? If so since I would be buying off contract that this would be the way to go. Only down side is not getting it today and will have to wait on the backorders.
Thanks

Hi all,
I'm an official HTC rep (see the tag under my user name, as confirmed by Svetius and the mods). We apologize for the inconvenience of the delays. I know it's very frustrating, and honestly we're frustrated, too -- the One is such an awesome device, it's unfortunate the buying experience is being tarnished for a few customers by unforeseen delays. Please bear with us while we work through these challenges, and we will hopefully have the One Developer Edition in customers' hands very soon.
Here's an official statement we're releasing today:
"We're excited that the new HTC One is now available through AT&T, Sprint T-Mobile and numerous national retail partners; however, we are experiencing unforeseen delays with shipping for the pre-ordered the 32GB SIM-unlocked and 64GB developer edition. We are working to fullfill orders as quickly as possible but the latest delivery for any customers will be before the end of April. We apologize to these customers for the delay. We know there is a lot of excitement for this phone and we can't wait to get this device into all of our customers' hands."

As far as faster updates.. If you use custom roms you wont be getting OTA's anyway so it doesn't matter. If the Update released for the dev phone is a good update, the devs will use that as a base to build a custom rom. If you plan to stay on stock software then maybe there is an advantage. But normally people buying dev phones are gonna use custom roms.

I got the same email this morning, I just checked it again and it says my order is on its way. woohoo. Things happen, I know it sucks, but it really is not the end of the world and certainly not the trouble of cancelling orders just to get your hands on it the day it comes out.
I was looking into purchasing this. Why does their website still say it is "In Stock" then?
Delay is better than a gap, off set speaker grill or unflush screen...bc if mine has any of those its going strait back for another anyways.
