Pleas update 3.1 os HTC - HTC Jetstream

I hope there will be an update release because honeycomb 3.1 is not optimized 100% for this hardware and device. So HTC please update Jetstream to 3.2 or ICS. 3.2fully support qualcomm dualcore processors and memory controllers. 3.1 is kill this device and hardware.
Thanks

Got a reply from AT&T regarding updates. They asked exactly what I was looking for. Have replied but no reply back as of yet. Hoping that something happens. Off till Sunday. Won't be checking in till Sunday or Monday. So hope they reply in that time. Also, no one seems to have done anything about the pictures globatron asked for. Or does anyone know how to cont ct him to know if the pictures I put up are what he wanted or not-if not, then to direct us as to what he wants?

I received this from HTC a 2 days ago. Same old song and dance....
Dear Chris,
Thank you for your feedback it is very important to us. I understand your frustration in regards to wanting android 4.0 on your device. I wish I could provide you with more info but we simply do not have it. We were given a list of what devices that would be getting the update. The Jetstream was not on that list. This does not mean it will not get it, we just don't have any information on it at this time. If you follow us on Facebook or Twitter, HTC will post information there as far as updates and release dates. If you have any more questions or feedback feel free to reply to this email, thank you and have a great day.

A real shame!
I can honestly say that I admire the devotion you guys have for your Jetstream. Sometimes you just have to face reality though, HTC has abandoned this tablet. The HTC Flyer which is a cheaper, older, less powerful tablet gets an official announcement of ICS upgrade before a more expensive and more powerful tablet, that's saying something. If you guys got to the dev section and read pages 15-17 of the [ROM]<==Galaxy Task v3==>(3-17) AT&T Jetstream topic is should give you an idea where on HTC radar this tablet is. This is not a Flagship device for HTC because it has done so poorly in sales, even task650 who is a recognized developer who has made the HTC Jetstream the best it can be agrees with all of this. I remain somewhat hopeful that HTC will release ICS for this tablet but I don't expect it to be anywhere close to Q3 2012 or even Q4 2012 which is a shame because hardware wise this tablet is a beast. HTC rushed this tablet to compete with Apple/Samsung and left the software full of bugs and not optimized for the hardware.
If you guys hear back from AT&T or HTC please post results. Maybe the right amount of nagging will push HTC to be loyal to their customers.
**Fingers Crossed**

Dear Jordan,
Thank you for contacting HTC, Jordan.
I can understand how important it is to have the latest updates for both your phone and your tablet alike. There has been much speculation over the availability to update tablets to Ice Cream Sandwich. Word on the street is that ICS will be a phone based update and that tablets around the globe will get their own strain of software. Can this be confirmed? Absolutely not. Is this just talk around the water cooler? Absolutely.
The chances of seeing your tablet being updated to ICS are probably better than seeing this rogue update appear in the limelight. Seeing as we here in technical support are not privy to such information I cannot confirm nor deny anything. And as you have stated we certainly don't decide the who's and what's in the world of software updates. What I will be happy to do is forward your request/comment to our developers. We take all suggestions seriously and use this information when researching possible improvements or updates for our devices.
I would recommend staying up to date on all things ICS by following us on Twitter and Facebook as these sites are updated daily with the latest news.
I thank you for taking the time to forward your comments to us. It is always helpful to have customer input, positive or negative. If you need anything else Jordan do not hesitate to contact me again by email.

Sad to hear that.
I was thinking of asking all users here to bombard HTC and AT&T with a request asking for some release details about future details of upgrade/possibility of ICS. If probably many of us were to email them/contact them, may be just may be it may reach higher up in the organisation and help us see ICS soon.
Anyone up for this plan?
Perhaps we could fix a particular date when the message has spread to send the emails, then volume load on HTC and AT&T would definately be higher.

How about a date of 15th May? Let the word spread and lets get the right email addresses and try it out. But we will need almost the entire community to pool in for some effect and some response from them.

I'm pretty sure HTC knows how we feel and doesn't give a ****.
What we need is for the WORLD to know how WE feel and then put a skeptical eye on HTC to see what they do...that's the only way HTC will do the right thing. They already knew how we would feel, they certainly know how we do feel...and I doubt they care.
But if we take this to the biggest stages we can find and get a wider audience to hear what is going on then HTC has to respond on to the wider audience....which they will care about. They have already demonstrated they don't care about our tiny little corner of the internet.
1.) I e-mailed Android Central to follow this. I expected they would already, but I guess they are scared to death of losing out on any industry freebies and hookups they may have. Others should follow suit and get them to follow this
2.) Everybody submit this to Slashdot.org as well. a Huge readership over there that would care about our plight. Don't just submit the 'why' we are upset but links to tweets, message boards and htc's facebook to show the how upset we are and how many of us there are.
3.) Any other media outlet that may care. Try to keep from getting too 'nerdy', don't get into crypto-signed bootloader talk....just say "encrypted the phone so we can't install whatever software we want"
4.) Bomb Google searches, make a trend. Same for twitter.
5.) Be tasteful and grownup. Don't hurl insults, don't just bomb someones email, don't DDOS. Just spread our plight to a larger audience and then HTC has to answer to EVERYONE (not just us) with their actions....as opposed to what they will answer just us with--inaction.
Off to Facebook.....

My guess is now that it has been made legit, even if the the OTA has no ETA everything will be AOK because some HTC QA tester will leak some keys to the locked bootloader to XDA on the DL ASAP.

Great news!
Yes this is great hopefully everyone will keep the bootloader htc emails in here and out of the dev section.
btw this was noted in the xHausx thread by me when I asked them why they didn't just toss it up on their site like xhausx suggested.
Their response(2days ago) was thats not how they want to do it and they are currently still developing the software to do such in a software update.
btw nice work, at least attempt at making a big stride in your thread in the Dev section. Nice to see people trying stuff!

Oh i agree. keep it going till its officially done and out for everyone.
If you accept an OTA to unlock the 3VO's bootloader, is it possible that Sprint can somehow disable wireless tethering even on a rooted device? I would think that they know what's up; everyone with a rooted device doesn't have to pay $30 for hotspot.

NS4G doesn't have to pay $30 for hotspot...AND the phone comes unlockable out of the box.
I doubt Sprint cares that much....we are a relatively small minority of their total accounts and we are going to find a way to tether for free regardless of if we get unlocked or not.
Also isn't Sprint the only company that doesn't censor tether apps from the market? I'm pretty sure they also have an official 'non-anti-tether' stance.
...and that's to say nothing of the fact that we pay for our data service and who cares where our bits come from and go to? We pay for the transport of said bits...the contents, origination and destination should really be irrelevant.
Besides, I can saturate my wireless connection with pandora or a couple of downloads on my phone just as easily as I could by hooking it up to a computer.
EDIT: Either way, I don't think they could possibly prevent tethering without throwing multiple monkey wrenches into the works.
When i went to look at the phone the otherday on the 24th my sprint guy that i always deal with said u know they r unlocking the bootloader in 60 days right? An i was like no i thought it would already be unlocked he said he read somewhere 60 days to try an get ppl to stay with it
Now idk if this is true or not by the way this guy didnt know a thing on how to root untill i showed him now he flashes roms like crazy lol

---------- Post added at 09:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:46 AM ----------
I posted this.
It appears to me that HTC may be exiting the tablet market. They have never delivered on the promised Android update from Gingerbread to Honeycomb for the Flyer / View and the Jetstream is not competitively priced. Additionally no announcements or marketing in place for the holiday sales pitch coming up would appear to leave HTC in a bad position.
HTC are you competing and supporting your customers or dumping us????

Maybe, but a good place to put your message don't you think? I am not looking for support, I want their sales team know that they are not selling hardware, tablet is a complete package. I also want future customers know the facts. Hurting sales is the only way to teach a lesson.
Yes I guess you are right. Just have a bad feeling about this. Reminds me of my HTC Hero.

THIS IS BULL **** MAN.....i can't even express how unfair this is. HTC originally said it would be included with HC and then MONTHHHSSS later they still don't offer it to us? They promised it to us, but something tells me they forgot about us and just said screw it.
I only buy HTC products, but this customer support is unfair. This product has been out for months now and still nothing, not even a reminder saying "were working on it". They keep giving us old OS, right when (IF) we ever finally do get HC, Icecream will already be out on tablets once again giving us an OLD OS.
Would someone please explain the point of this? ICS was announced last week and is obviously superior to HC. Why are you complaining about not getting HC now? I can understand if you're complaining because you don't expect any updates, but ICS is obviously the upgrade path Google wants everything with Gingerbread to go with. By the look of things, it appears that HTC was working on HC then stopped when they got word that ICS was coming very soon.

I'm sorry to be blunt , but you really need to read the threads here more and understand how the Android update process works. Google does not release or control updates for any device, none, zero, nada. Maybe in the future since they now own Motorola, they will control Motorola releases, but currently no, so ICS updates are not coming soon to a device near you. When Google announces any given version of Android it runs on exactly nothing at that point and a lot of work remains with each hardware vendor to make it work on each devices.

Here’s my first email to them
"Being the owner of several HTC Phones and enjoying their build quality, I recently purchased a HTC Flyer, thinking it would (as promised) get updated to Honeycomb.
Now, some web sites are reporting the flyer will not be updated.
I am now approaching my 30 day return window, so my question is, do I need to return my Flyer and buy something like the Samsung?
I really like HTC products but, I do want a device that (as promised) will get updated.
Gary"
I got the same reply as you. I then sent them this
"Thank you for your quick reply. As you know the official announcement was on Feb 11, 8 months ago saying the update to Honeycomb would be coming soon. The Flyer is approuching 1 year old and still no update. It seems like I may have to return my flyer and try another product. Thanks, Gary"
I got this back
"Gary, We very much appreciate your loyalty to HTC and understand how it can be frustrating awaiting announced updates, especially when they take longer than anticipated to come out. We ask for your patience as the update is being developed and tested for your device. Thank you again!"

ICS is long way off. I don't expect HTC to release ICS update. Most likely the combination of cyanogenmod + some talented developer will give us ICS.
People fail to realize that Android and iOS are completely different animals.
iOS is made for very small set of hardware (for e.g. iOS supports iPHone 3G, 3GS, 4,4S, iPad and iPad2 hardware only) and hence it is a complete product. Hardware/Software/Apps and middleware (drivers etc) work together to deliver a consistent experience - Apple ensures that.
In Android world - google creates one version of OS with basic set of apps and middleware (drivers etc). It relies on companies to to create software and drivers compatible with the OS and developers to create apps compatible with OS - not an easy task with multiple vendors/hardware combinations.
In a sense Google has been shooting itself in foot with so many versions Froyo, GB, HC and ICS within last 2 years. I will not be surprised if companies stop supporting Google because they are tired of providing all this support. Supporting an OS update takes months of hard work. Add carrier specific releases to that and you begin to understand what a big mess all this is.
ICS is a first step by Google in right direction. Now we will have a single Android OS for phones & tablets with patch releases in future. This will bring stability to Android platform and to its vendors. In my opinion there should never have been HC and GB out at all. It should just have been HC that supported both phones and tablets.

Yeah. I have added my $0.02.

I emailed HTC...

I know its been done before, but I emailed HTC about any possibilities to an ICS update for the jetstream. Since XDA reported that Samsungs galaxy tabs are getting their ICS updates, its upsetting that such a beastly, functional, and not to mention expensive device like the jetstream goes with little/no support and no update to ICS.
Perhaps the small userbase in these forums could also send an email asking or requesting yoru concern for an update be forwarded to the right department(wishful thinking).

What a bummer.
I feel like if the Jetstream got ICS, it would expand the life of the device a ton.
I agree. I've spoke with HTC via email and phone to ask them about this. It's always the same response, that they can't provide any info on this presently.
Also, Paul O'Brien (@modaco) was at a 2-day HTC event recently, and he said he'd ask them about it, but I haven't seen what came of this yet.

I too wrote an email to them and they replied they had no idea and as it was under AT&T, we were to contact them for further details.
Anyways, I just hope that HTC will support the device for 18 months as they promised (meaning which they may release ICS sometime later on) and I agree that if it does come it will be late but I still feel it will be worth the wait.
In the meanwhile, all we can do is wait with our fingers crossed.

ATT's responsibility?
ATT is not the ones programming HTC phones. Sounds like a tactic to get customers to go away, blame ATT.
I'd say at this point with the Jetstream's lack of popularity, price drop, etc, HTC probably feels like the time it would take for an ICS update would be a waste of time money and resources. I hope this is not the case.
Its frustrating when you put your faith and money in a company and their product and other companies are dishing out updates.

Ya they just plan on pushing from HTC to AT&T and vice versa.
HTC should not just leave us to die with the device. If they find the popularity low, by bringing ICS out for this device, they could really increase its popularity manifold.
Let us also not forget that Flyer got an update for its software only after a year of its release. So let us just hope that HTC keeps its promise for supportive its devices for 18months after release and does something concrete for us.
In the meanwhile, we must hope and wait. S-OFF also globatron has done some really nice method for other HTC devices using wire link method. It may be viable for the Jetstream as well. Let's just wait and see.

Android 4.3 Update Thread with RUU

RUU Download Link
I was passing by on my way from the One X+ Forums, and I recently got confirmation from this wonderful man that my phone would be receiving the 4.2.2 update by the end of the year.. While browsing through his Twitter feed, I came across this tweet from him, which at least confirms that a plan is being worked out to release the same update for you guys. That is the same response he gave about the One X+ not too long ago, but now that has been confirmed, so I would expect a full confirmation soon for the EVO. It looks like you guys haven't been forgotten after all. :highfive:
Update 1: I contacted him directly about it, and got a slightly different and more vague response here. He won't confirm anything, but he says he is "working on it", so take it for what you will. I still believe it will receive the update, although @Fifth313ment is willing to bet $100 that it won't.
Update 2: We've got an official comment from the President of HTC USA here. It's still very vague, but it looks like we'll be hearing about a possible update plan soon.
Update 3: It's official folks! https://twitter.com/JasonMacHTC/status/386284246521769984 And it's a version newer than most were even expecting! I believe @Fifth313ment owes me a healthy chunk of money and an apology to HTC. ;D
Update 4 (11/26/13): It looks like the update is still on track for the end of the year, but a delay is not out of the question. It is in internal lab testing right now though. https://twitter.com/JasonMacHTC/status/405422654338777088

I'm sorry bro the EVO LTE is not getting another update. They simply don't have the stomachs to tell us. They know this will banish users from HTC so they will not give a confirmation for as long as they can, IF EVER, hoping w simply forget about it. Also in that tweet he said he is working with the "Carriers" on a plan, but Sprint is the only carrier carrying the EVO LTE. So it's simply a canned (no pun intended) response.
Why hasn’t HTC and Sprint fixed the MMS picture bug yet? It’s been a year and a half?! WTF? Every time I send a MMS picture I get angry as I have to add another pic, then another to get a full screen pic you can see that isn’t compressed, then delete the first slide, then retype or paste (what I previously copied) and then send, rinse and repeat! FLUCK YOU HTC! I shouldn’t have to use a third party app to send picture messages or do 50+ things to get a decent picture to send! And the pictures that send when I don’t do anything are unreadable! Blurry to the point where huge text gets garbled! This is pissing me off, as I just had to send one, so this is a rant but I’m still pissed!
+1 on why I will never buy another HTC!
+2 I’ll never forgive them for the year I spent having to turn my screen on and off a million times as my proximity sensor wasn’t working (proximity bug)!
WindyCityRockr, you're a dev, will the newest EVO LTE update kill your and S-OFF app? I want to take the update but not if it kills the option to root and S-OFF. Thanks.

I won't believe anything until it is actually released.
That said, it is still too little too late and I will be moving on from HTC.

He directly answered a question about the Evo LTE and said they were working on it internally and with Sprint. It's vague, but it's something.

I understand your guy's frustrations. For the longest time, we over at the HOX+ section didn't believe that we'd get the 4.2.2 update, but we did. And now that 4.2.2 has been confirmed for the HOX and almost confirmed for the EVO, I believe that HTC won't leave you guys behind that quickly. At least not until after the 4.2.2 update.

Did you see my post above? I STILL can't send MMS messages without going through a huge task or another app altogether. HTC doesn't care about their customers sadly. They will leave us in the dust, I'm willing to bet $100 and start a pool if anyone is interested?! LTE still sucks on the phone as does signal strength. I used to get a better signal with my OG EVO and I have a list of other issues. But I'm stuck on my contact and there is not much I can do for now. I can tell you that I will never give HTC another dollar of my money as long as I live! WindyCityRockr keep up the good work bro!

Just because the HOX got the update doesn't mean we will. We're not the same breed. It's like assuming that because we share so much DNA with chimps, we will be able to have chimp babies too. Not happening until it happens, which, in all likelyhood, will be never.

I'm not seeing anything in your link to suggest we'll be getting 4.2.2 or sense 5. Do you have a more direct link you could share to that information?
All I see is a reply from him regarding the Evo LTE saying, "No worries, nothing confirmed yet..."
With the keyword being "nothing".
He didn't mention 4.2.2 or Sense 5, or that we would even be getting anything at all.

The HTC Developer who tweeted the information specifically responded to a question about Sense 5 and 4.2.2 here, stating that they are working with the carrier on a plan for the update. There's some obvious speculation here, but it confirms that there is plan being made to release the update. Whether they go through with that plan is another thing. Many people thought HTC had completely left behind the EVO, but this is proving that work is still being done towards it, however large or small it may be.
Edit: Yes, he did make that clarifying statement afterwards, but he did confirm work at one point in time. Most likely he is waiting on a specific timeline, as his response is similar to many other phones before the update was official.

To be honest, it just sounds like normal PR spin. This latest update doesn't exactly inspire confidence in htc's resolve to support the device if their own maintenance upgrades are using a version of android that's over a year old.
We have a handful of people here who, in their free time and without any proprietary information, can get the device working very well on the latest version of android, yet htc is unable to devote enough resource towards it to push out a proper upgrade?
If this was just a stop-gap until a larger one could be pushed out it would be one thing, but, in my opinion, the comments so far do not suggest that's the case. It sounds like he's leaving it open for interpretation in the hope that people will look upon it favorably and spread rumors that are inaccurate.

I completely understand. I'm probably being too optimistic here with my hopes for HTC. They, and most manufacturers, have bad track records when it comes to these kinds of updates, though HTC has improved recently. Improvement unfortunately means already 1 year old software released as a new update, but it is progress towards the ultimate goal of quick Android updates. There is most likely a lot of PR going on here, but he did confirm they are working with the carriers, one of which, I'm again assuming, is Sprint, as they're working with AT&T for updates on similarly older phones, such as the One X and One X+. Yes, they are very different phones, but the One X+ was a mid-cycle phone and has a considerably smaller user base, and they are still releasing 4.2.2, so that gives me some hope for the EVO.

I am by no means, at all, trying to diminish the work that the Devs have done. They are some of the most important people for maintaining a device and keeping it up to date. I'm just trying to be optimistic about HTC's prospects for the phone. There isn't very much evidence at this point, but they haven't outright denied it, which makes it more of a possibility than most people around here have made it seem.

I was actually kinda expecting this from them. I got shat on with the Hero and was really not expecting much in the way of constant support from HTC. Especially when all you hear in the news stories is how badly they are doing as a company. I guess it's a good thing I've grown tired of Sense anyways.
Update from President of HTC USA in the OP. Again, nothing confirmed, but he did corroborate the developer's original tweet in that they are working on finalizing a plan for the update.

Would require no plan if they were to drop support entirely. Optimistic since the one x shares the same hardware.

IMHO, they are working on it. things could change, but the president of the company doesn't tweet that unless it is getting worked on.
who knows whose hands the update is in right now (htc or sprints) but it is likely that this device moves up in priority now that the One has 4.3.
I can't think of many devices more popular on sprint that are more popular than this other than iphone (os updates go much quicker), HTC one (already up to date), the GS3/4 (not sure where they are)>
Fingers crossed for maybe middle november.
