What do you mean 'Push to unlock' ?
Instead of 'slide' to unlock, 'push' to unlock. like the omnia II.
like the windows default lock where you only get the unlock button (left soft button location)?
I think if you install any of these other lockscreens that overwrite the sense lockscreen, then uninstall, that is what you are left with.

Are you saying the button that you press after putting in the wrong password a few times to reset the password, or get rid of your password altogether?
I don't think you can get rid of the button. If you need to get rid of the password, just use the button I mentioned.
I'm new to this, and I just wonder if I can unlock a phone and make it usable again if the original owner doesn't know his gmail password? I would be happy to try the root option, but is that the only option at this point?

Hint: Google FRP bypass + your model.
In any case, if owner forgot his password it should be fairly easy to retrieve
You can, it depends on the model but almost all model enter in recovery by shutting down the phone and then press volume down and power button, if it's samsung then home button too. After you enter the recovery just factory reset

Ok thanks for your help.
Also, do you know if the textnow phones are able to be used under another carrier like AT&T? Does this require a root?

root doesn't unlock anything but access to all of the files in the phone, the system files, similar to the windows folder in microsoft windows. it's not some kind of magic, you still need to know the password of the phone if you want to use it.

But, the Settings app itself locked by App Lock. Now what am i supposed to do. Is there a way to unlock the Settings app ?
any help other than wiping out the data in the phone is much appreciated.

Try the "safe mode". It boots your phone only with system apps and without any user app installed. There's a special key combo to start it, but I don't know yours.

Another way to boot into safe mode:
1. open the power off menu
2. tap and hold one of the options "power off" or "restart"
3. you should see another menu for safe mode

Thank you MiUI!
Then search the web for the key combo to boot into safe mode. It should be possible to enter that mode.

I tried several methods to get into Safe Mode but nothing works... i do not have a separate 3rd party app to lock the applications. It's the phone built-in feature to lock apps. Is there a way to do something now ?

What about ADB? There's a ADB command to deinstall (actually they are rather deactivated) system apps w/o root.
Let's say the name of that feature is "com.android.lock", then you have to execute
Code:
adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.android.lock
for deactivation.
open security app choose app lock choose forget password fill in miui password

Hi, so I was playing with ADB and changing screen resolution, I changed it to 50x100 and my device just rebooted. Now I can't access anything because the screen is so small.
Is there any way to reset the screen resolution without a hard reset?
Note: I can access bootloader/recovery mode
bootloader is unlocked?

No, I tried installing an update through ADB, sdcard, or a custom bootloader, nothing worked.
unless you can connect TV or something there is no way other than factory reset.

Can you connect to TV? I tried using scrcpy to view the screen on pc but ADB doesn't connect if phone isn't unlocked.
I think adb will work on lock screen, because I have unlocked pattern with scrcpy myself. most likely it doesn't boot. to my excuse must confess that devices were not encrypted, maybe your device behaves different.

Yea... It was working before my phone rebooted after I changed the resolution, now when I run "adb devices" it shows nothing.
I have a Moto G Power (2021) and it won't connect ADB if the screen is locked.
What kind of lock do you have? Pattern, Pin or Paswword.
You should be able to type with a OTG keyboard.
Actually, even if you use a swipe pattern, there are ways to get that.
How did you set screen size? wm size?
Ha, You nearly did me in. I set my lock pattern to one that practically can not be done by a human.
Unfortunately the vertical position of the set lock pattern is not the same as the main unlock pattern.
It took me 10 minutes to unlock my device.

The only reward for failure is a factory reset...
The biggest problem is that it doesn't actually show where you are touching.
I'm trying to unlock it again with the display set to 800x360 res instead of 1600x720.
Edit: I did get it unlocked. Still, with 50 x 100 it could be tough.
don't forget the sim pin...

Mmm, you have to use my usbcfg (also not listed yet) to configure the USB to adb,hid
You can run it as an init service or just as a shell command but you'll need to be rooted.
You'll also need to chmod 666 /dev/hidg0 or use ueventd.rc

By any chance can I root or do anything at all with bootloader locked?
I tried getting the UNIQUE_KEY needed for oem unlock, but it said I needed to enable oem unlocking at developer options, which I can't access.
unlocking bootloader forces factory reset. again why don't you buy OTG hub??

I'm losing context here.
All that usbcfg stuff I was talking about is to use on a separate Android if you needed to pattern unlock a different Android.
If you've got the screen lock still stuck you'll have to do that first before you start talking about rooting.
I think all it needs is adb shell wm size reset
