I'm looking around and I'm curious if I can get a vibrant from tmobile to work on my verizon account somehow. Sorry for the lack of searching but I'm out and about at the moment.
No. Not ever. Sorry. Also post questions in Q&A.
I'm petty sure its impossible. The vibrant is a GSM phone and verizon runs on CDMA.

no. Verizon uses CDMA technology and Vibrant runs on GSM, also ur gonna get flamed cuz its in the wrong section.
No.. that's like trying to say can i install a intel processor on AM3 (AMD) socket. It's two different things and would never ever work.
+ had to join the crowd; wrong section.
Wrong section

The actual answer is yes, but not in the US of A - in Europe Vodafone is Verizon partner and it offers GSM service.

And have the widget redirected to Bing. I know you can root it and change it and all that but I still think its unfair to the users who aren't rooting. It's just absurd that they restrict things like this.
Also not a huge fan of Verizon's exclusive apps like Skype, NFL, etc. I know you could extract it in APK format and do it like that but it's not healthy to make exclusive apps.

Iam thinking that you can do it, but first you need to unlock your phone.. First you need an activated Tmobile sim card placed into vibrant to go to next steps... Second look into market searching for "samsung unlock" and install and run it..it will give you the unlock code that the phone will ask you when you replace your verizon sim card, so write down all the info... third turn off vibrand and replace tmobile sim with verizon one and boot the phone... Enter the unlock code that you get from step 2 and enjoy your new unlocked phone!!..
I dont try it yet because I dont have the need, but I think that it will help you ...

This post is incorrect. Verizon does not use sim cards. The method posted here will unlock your phone for other GSM service, but since Verizon is not GSM this will not work.
Also, I really am curious since it happens so often, how do people keep posting in development and claiming they are confused about where to post?
I'm not making fun of anyone, this is a serious question. There are two forums: one is labeled Q&A and one is labeled development. How is it possible so many people make this mistake?

Wow. Some of you people clearly should not be flashing anything to your phones.
I have seen some of the worlds stupidest people on a forum with some of the worlds smartest. If you don't know what qna means then put you fing diaper back and go back to first grade. I'm sick of all this non dev chat in the dev section. If you don't know what cdma and what GSM is then Google it. Don't give the I'm to lazy to search excuse cause that's a bunch of bull.
GSM: most of the world, att T-Mobile.
Cdma: Verizon and sprint.
If a phone is cdma it will not work on GSM. And vise versa.
Now stfu noobs and gtfo.

It's so simple. There are two completely different technologies in question here. Cdma which Verizon uses and gsm which t-mobile and at&t use(which is why I-phone works on t-mobile). And to set the record straight about sim cards,I have seen several black berrys with sim cards on Verizon.

Those ones for Verizon that have SIM cards are the world editions of the phones and can go outside of the USA and use a local carrier that uses SIM cards (e.g. Vodaphone). CDMA and GSM are not compatible technologies. You cannot use one type of phone on the other network.

I am getting ready to trade for a Note tomorrow and I stumbled upon something in the development section in the root guide. A guy said he couldn't get data to work and someone else responded with this "I was having the same problem & had to use the LTE SIM card & switch my unlimited 3G plan over to an unlimited LTE plan. After that, my data started working". Does this mean that my Red Pocket plan will not work with the AT&T version of the note? I have to have an LTE Sim? I have been wanting this phone forever and if this is true Any insight would be great. Thanks
Are you trading in person? Just let the Guy know you will need to verify it works with your RP sim first.

I'm having to drive almost 2 hours to get the phone. I really don't want to make the drive to find out it won't. I just called my local at&t and told them I was planning on purchasing one off contract from them and ask them if it had to have an LTE sim. He said he had never heard of red pocket but he did said yes...it has to have an LTE sim....****!
Did you verify that it had to have an lte sim to get lte service or that it had to have an lte sim to work period? Big difference and one the normal CS Rep wouldn't know.

According to the guy in post 172 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504218&page=18 It won't work at all. I will try to call CS at AT&T and try to find out more info.
The person that I'm trading with also has an iphone and is going to try its sim card when she gets home. I will post the results so it may help someone else in the future.
It could. People are having problems connecting to AT&T without an AT&T LTE SIM, but that doesn't mean the phone rejects SIMs from other carriers.
The iPhone SIM probably won't work on her Note by the way for the same reason, it's still AT&T. You're much better off calling Red Pocket and seeing what they say.
EDIT: You might see if anyone here as activated their Note on T-Mo as well. If they have, then you can feel pretty confident it will work on Red Pocket because you know it will work on non-AT&T/LTE SIM cards.

Call AT&T and check the Android development section and supposedly there is a LTE sim. I don't have to "unlock" an AT&t phone for red pocket because it uses AT&T towers. I just read where you couldn't get data without a LTE sim on this phone and thats what I'm trying to find out. Not trying to be a **** but I'm driving an hour and a half for a hell of a trade for the Note and just don't want to waste my time...AND GAS!

Again, how are they going to use a GSM device on Verizon? Verizon is a CDMA network primarily, with LTE being the only type of GSM service they have. Unless you have some magic radio dust, you need to a VZW device to use VZW's network.

So, you want to know who has tried the Note II on Verizon? Unless you are a device tester, no one has used the Note II on Verizon's network. Yes, we could go out and try a T-Mobile Note II, but I can't see anyone on VZW spending $650 for an unlocked international version when it won't work on VZW's network.
Maybe you should realize that you're posting in a VERIZON ONLY forum and asking people their opinion's on GSM devices that have a snowball's chance in hell of working on Verizon's network before you start complaining about responses you're getting.
I posted it in the note 2 general q&a before it was separated into different flavors by the mods into individual carrier models, and btw people unlock phones and try different networks all the time, and there are at least 3 models from south korea that could play nicely with Verizon with a little effort and was hoping someone had found a useful bit of info. You really have no idea how VZW's network works do you? If you can't get a Sprint LTE device to work on VZW, how do you think you're going to get an international version working? Just because it supports LTE doesn't mean it will work. If that was the case, why aren't people using AT&T or Sprint Note II's on VZW? Or one of the many other LTE capable phones out there that are available? The reason is because you can't. It won't work, and even if they did support the same protocols and frequencies, you would need to know someone that has access to backend VZW systems that would be willing to risk their job for you to even hope at getting it to work.

lol some people are just fools who will never understand the concept of how the networks really work out there. If it really worked, hell people would be going to one dealer to get it $50 cheaper like AT&T has, and then just using it with their unlimited data on Verizon.
You guys are morons, i am NOT TALKING ABOUT ONLY GSM i am also talking about the cdma korean versions, ever heard of cdma workshop? How bout unlocking? For being on xda you are kinda out of it. Ive gotten my answer thank you, two of these versions DO work according to pms iv gotten from people that live or travel to/from south korea where guess what they use CDMA. Only in the us do carriers stop you from using a boughten phone on another network.

Yeah, we're all idiots and have no idea what we're talking about. Care to tell me how they got the ESN into VZW's database? How are they authenticating and using the LTE network, or even using the CDMA network properly? Probably by doing stuff that is less than legal, or they know people that not many others do. And if it's so easy to do, don't you think that people would be importing the international versions frequently rather than getting bloated Verizon versions? Then again, we're all just idiots, so wtf would we know.
sprints version should be able to work on Verizon, they are both cdma+lte with global capabilities... I know they could since sprint and Verizon roam of each other just like AT&T and T-Mobile do and unlocked gsm phones work on AT&T and T-Mobile all you should have to do is unlock a sprint version

Sprint doesn't use the same LTE frequency, and you wouldn't be able to get the phone's ESN info in VZW's database. This is why I've been saying you have to get a VZW version to use on VZW.

To be a recognized dev you really are trolling pretty badly. The dude asked if anyone had gotten another Note2 to work on verizon. We are all very happy you understand the policy behind the scenes of getting the device onto the network. There are plenty of people who do have connections within Verizon that could possibly have set it up to make it happen. I'm sure you know all about chipsets and network bands so I'm sure you understand it is completely within the realm of the possible that it happened. Don't bust on the guy for asking a question.

Would you risk your job to put a friend's Note 2 from another carrier in the system just so they could use the network? I imagine there are some very heavy restrictions on adding new devices to the database, with pretty heavy consequences if you're just adding stuff for fun. Is it possible to make it happen? Yes, it is. Is it likely to happen? No, and I doubt if you did get someone to add the phone info, they wouldn't want you to go around posting about it everywhere.
Given the likelihood is next to zero for knowing someone with the access to do this, being able to buy a non-VZW phone with the proper radio frequencies that isn't a VZW specific device, and then getting said person to add said device to the network, I don't get why the thread was started to begin with. I know of people that have tried to get Sprint CDMA only devices on VZW's network, and even that is a venture in futility, so I can't imagine how you expect to get an LTE Note II from a non-US carrier to work.
Also, you people need to learn what trolling is, as I wouldn't consider any of my posts in this thread to be trolling. I'm stating facts as to why what the OP is asking is extremely unlikely and near impossible. Trolling rarely is factual. Maybe you could say I'm a troll if I came here posting "OMG, I'm using it on VZW's network right now and it's the best thing since sliced French Bread", but I'm not.
So it is possible
It was just a question (in the Q&A section no less) looking for like minded people to respond
Trolling is responding without addressing the topic or in this case answering the question, which was what you did.... repeatedly.
I'm only responding because I would expect much more in a response from a developer. Leave the negativity and the can't do attitude to someone else.

So i bought a samsung galaxy note off a guy on craigslist about 3-4 weeks ago and today i noticed i didnt recieve any calls or texts from anyone, so i checked my phone and could get a signal at all, so i reset the phone to factory using kies and now it says, Phone Not Allowed MM#6 and i cant connect to any network
someone please help and tell me what i can possibly do to solve this issue
I did a little research and it could be a few things... Either you've gave the carrier the wrong IME number or the phone was reported lost or stolen by the original customer... I would call the carrier the phone is for and ask them. Also if the original owner hasn't paid his phone bill the carrier can lock the ime from being used... I've heard a lot of people buying phones on Craigslist like that...

so it's an AT&T note and you're using it on Tmobile right? have you tried an AT&T sim? If you don't have one available to you, I think you can go into an AT&T store and ask them if they can do a quick check for you. not a stupid question, i did not say if it was unlocked or not
but yes it is, i received the unlock code directly from ATT so im not sure on how to fix this, if the ATT sim works then i will just sell it as an att phone
What modem is showing in the phone ? (needs blaze modem for TMO, if it's an ATT device)
And are your APN settings correct ? (needs the TMO apn's)
Two nails in the coffin for service if not correct.....
just brainstorming....g
And sometimes the network around you has a brain-fart. Sometimes those problems go away within a day.
Everything seems fine I restored it to stock thru kies, but I went to att and tried a live sim and it worked like I should its for some reason only T-Mobile Sims that don't work ugh!

Try to unlock it again. I'm using my At&t branded unlocked Note on T-Mobile with no issues.

When I have a T-Mobile sim in it doesn't give an option to unlock again

thank you for your reply but i have tried these steps and nothing worked, i just cant understand why tmobile would block the phone if AT&T (which is what service the phone is purchased from) and other GSM carriers have not blocked it at all, just very fustrating!

isn't that second link one of the OPs threads?
Unlock is permanent. Getting t- mobile to work on the at&t version is hit-or-miss.
Its just weird that I had this phone working for over a month now and no problems what so ever till now, and its only T-Mobile Sims that are locked out

Have you tried a newer t mobile sim card. Some phones don't play well with the old tmobile sim cards.

I can only assume that if the phone has "AT&T" branded on the front, that at&t would work the best no?
You get the apn settings for straight talk?
If a device is unlocked..the AT&T on the front is now simply just there.

Yes your right. Once unlocked the brand doesn't mean anything. But it doesn't mean it will work on Verizon. Yes it will work on tmobile after some research and reconfiguring. But it doesn't mean it will work "better".
i717
Its not my phone it belongs to a friend of mine he asked me if I could fix it for him. Yes I got the APN settings from straightalk I got a 45$ card and put on the phone. Still no data. Think I will get a T-Mobile sim and a at&t sim and give them a shot.

I would check online both carriers coverage for your area also. One might not have lte or better coverage than the other.
maybe

Hmm....its possible. This phone needs some love and a little maintenance and some reconfiguration
You will need an activated sim from the carrier of choice. You cannot just change APN setting.

You need to know if you got an att or TMobile Sim from straight talk, since it's not working you probably got a TMobile one, that will require Sim unlocking and the addition of a TMobile compatible modem plus the proper TMobile straight talk apn info.

Yes I know, the APN settings have to match the carrier settings before it will work. I sold the i717 to a friend and that friend found someone else that is wanting to buy the phone (because the guy I sold it to can't get the phone to work properly) so hes not wanting it anymore. So the new buyer asked me if i could fix it back it was running ics but after i rooted it it took it down to GB 2.3.6 I THINK. I dont know maybe what im trying to say isnt making any sense sorry. The i717 was the first phone that i ever unlocked, the unlocking part was easy it was the flashing part that got me. I dont have the phone in my hands yet, im just trying to throw out what i remember. I will wait untill i have the i717 before i go any futher.

Hi guys I know this questioned has been asked before, but I can't seem to get all the answers I need. I plan on picking up a used S3 off of craigslist, and I need to know the requirements to get on Tmobiles $30 a month plan. I hear that you need a specific version of the S3 to get on Tmobile, I was told a sprint version would work? Also I read that you should be careful because the phone could have a bad ESN or something. As for the tmobile sim card, should I get it one of tmobiles prepaid phones or tmobiles site, i'm guessing the latter. (Micro sim right?)
You can also add me on skype. zSorun
Thanks guys
EDIT :Forgot to ask how you unlock the phone for tmobile
You would need the tmobile version of the s3. Or the international version. But im sure you couod get them unlocked either way.
But you need to find out if you can get it unlocked first or you may find you cant use the phone.

Ask in the sprint forum may give a different answer .

The US variants all work on different frequencies what you need to do is check what signal frequencies T-Mobile use, then check what the phone supports, the US variants are rarely compatible with the other networks though.
